Or literally just incompetence. This is probably the very first time she got sat down. Sadly a result of the current system is that you never learn responsibility or accountability. Those aren't things you magically gain as an adult and I honestly think that being mad at people who were taught helplessness is an absolute waste of breath. Pick them up, put them to work and allow them to learn. Otherwise most of them are going to fall through.
@@mryellow6918 Not necessarily. If both mom and dad work their 40-60hours, kid is mostly in public school, grandparents not very present and then the family wants to fill their absence with love or nice things, it's a systemic failure. Countries that have nuclear families and families with more traditional workings (including stay at home dads!) seem to have much more success in avoiding.... this.
That's all I see in the US, is all "I hate my parents, they are not going to be in my life's they ruined me by trying to parent me oh but let me take all their money"
Totally agree. But this young woman seems exceptionally immature and NOT bright. Borderline disabled. I put myself in her mother's place and I would be scared to death. The future doesn't look good.
She mocked her mom every time she spoke. Her mom rescued her from $4,000 of credit card debt. She thanks her by mocking everything financial she has to say. She acts like an incompetent victim to manipulate her parents into giving her money. She's one of the most deeply unlikable people I've ever seen.
I disagree. She asked her mom "what's debt?" in her late teens. Her mom never taught her how to manage her money, which is irresponsible parenting. There's a reason she's the way she is now. I like her because she seems like a kind, fun person, but she needs to be more responsible. Her parents set her up for failure and are now enabling her incompetence. They aren't letting her grow up.

It cannot possibly be just math that she's failing at. I suck at math too so I literally can't comprehend how to calculate GPA but she has to be failing other subjects as well, a 1.8 is so abysmal. If she can't do school that's fine, do something else.

I have a friend who is a supervisor for the kind of job she's thinking of (friend started in that job with her BS, and then got her MS to become supervisory). They make okay money with the BS, but what she's talking about in terms of earnings are for the supervisors (who need an MS and to be licensed ABA counselors) or in very high-income areas (which means that the salary won't go far). I *may* be getting her letters wrong. I just don't have the bandwidth to search my email to see if I have an email from her to get them right, but I know for sure she has an MS in psychology and a license that required testing, and both were required for her position supervising a team that provides support for students with Individual Education Plans so that they receive the school and community services they need to thrive.
The fact that her dad served in the armed forces to give her the access to free education and health insurance, while she's here squandering, is maddening. She doesn't realize she was dealt an amazing starting hand in life and probably won't until its too late.
Based off what I found for the normal GI bill she has wasted about half of it. And the best part is that if you take GI money, fail everything (which is what she's doing) and quite school, then the military can charge back her fucking father because she's literally just throwing their money away. So not only is she squandering something few Americans get, but there is a real possibility that this is going to backfire on her parents when she flunks and gets kicked out of college.
I think the issue sometimes is people arent mature enough to go to college. 18-21 I think I see a lot of people wasting there time. They just don’t know how to work the bureaucracy or how the world works. As dumb as financing a tattoo is, I knew a guy who financed SHOES. Apparently there’s at least one business out there that give SHOE LOANS so you can buy $400 basketball shoes.
As someone in the same age group has her, I’ve noticed that a lot of people my age default to trauma dumping/ therapy talk when confronted with irresponsibility. Just before an hour in it suddenly becomes “i have no friends, i have bad influences, i work with crackheads, I’m a people pleaser.” This is not for venting, I’m sorry. This is for taking accountability of your finances. Two things can be true at once, but the focus HERE is fixing your money.
That is so true, I am guilty of this sometimes but I catch myself because that’s being in a victim mentality and you’re giving in to your EGO when you do that. You need to take accountability and responsibility for your actions but it’s so much easier to deflect and blame it on something else or a certain circumstance. Although it is an explanation as to WHY it shouldn’t be used as an excuse.
It’s the worst, there’s a difference between being self aware and being a victim. Somehow she’s complaining about having friends and NOT having friends at the same time lol and somehow she was able to tie this to her poor finances? I feel bad for the parents, that’s a difficult knot to untie (even though they are partially to blame)
Yeah, the problem is, usually it's true, right? Like obviously your personal problems have an impact on your finances. It's just that at some point you have to realise it's easier for yourself and everyone around you to actually take charge of your life instead of only complaining about it. Complaining is just the first step.
I have 17 credit hours and I'm just graduating high school. This girl has done NOTHING in the past 3 years. I'm more likely to finish my doctorate before she gets done with school.

It’s basically a way to make sure that small classes like labs and big classes like a student thesis are weighted differently and allows students to mix and match to get majors and minors without needing to be on a set track.

Agree. I ‘girl math’ things under 20$ total. Like I found 15$ in a coat pocket and a friend wants to grab coffee tomorrow- so it’s ‘free’. that money isn’t in my budget, it’s small enough I don’t need to add it. But it’s not a normal, daily, or large ticket item thing.

Hi! I’m a college recruiter. 1st. If you aren’t good with math, anything health professions related isn’t a good career. 2nd. To have below a 2.0, it isn’t 1 subject. There are multiple subjects that are either Ds or Fs 3. To be a high school counselor you almost always need a masters 4. To be a behavioral tech you need certifications, not necessarily a bachelors degree
You could have all C's and one D and you'd be below a 2.0. I guess you don't need to be good at math to be a college recruiter. Maybe she could do that lol.
Hi! Please respond! What majors should I choose if I’m not good at math? I really wanted to do business analytics. But what major should I choose if I want to make 80k+ a year.
To the guy above, many jobs with 80k+ a year will require at least basic maths, or be hard enough that you shouldn’t be struggling with maths. But maths can be learnt overtime, it’s decently hard but you can become good at maths
@@ZzzZ-sb9juYou won’t find many majors that get to a $80k starting salary right out college that don’t require math. Math isn’t easy so it tends to pay better. Accounting is an example of this. You could easily start around 60-70k and easily make 80k+ within 3-5 years of graduating. The math also isn’t that bad, especially compared to other majors such as engineering.

A well-designed program would give less and less in benefits until you reach a maximum income. Instead, the way they work is that you either get them or not. So some people don't work their way out of needing benefits because they will not be able to afford to eat once they work 25 instead of 20 hours a week! That's awful, and could be solved if they just got a little less as they worked more and earned more, versus being totally cut off if they're offered more hours or a promotion!

I kind of feel like this. My parents gave me awful financial advice (don’t save or open credit cards in college, just work enough for basic expenses and call us if anything comes up so you can focus on school). I was SO lucky but also SO dumb. When I graduated at 23 I was still under a checking account they had access too, no credit cards, no independent accounts or savings, no bills in my name other than car insurance (on my mom’s old car still in their name) and my lease. I felt miles behind of everyone around me and they were like “well my parents sat me down at 18 they showed me the basics of opening/managing bank accounts and credit cards”. Was kind of bitter my advice was basically “just ignore it” through school when trying to pick myself up after. “Call us if there’s anything you can’t handle” is still the only advice I get. And I think I only have once when, but I don’t WANT my parents to be my safety net. I WANT to be financially independent, but educating yourself is tough. Doable and necessary, but still tough and I feel like it so easily didn’t have to be this way. Was also never in any debt other than student loans (now paid off) and have a degree… but still. I get when you’re clearly struggling and your parents obviously have those skills but they aren’t willing to share any of them.
My parents also didn't teach me about budgeting and financing but I also have to take responsibility for my own life. I'd never even consider shitting on my parents for it..

It's not the financial situation for me... it's the condescension toward her loving mother. God damn that "add that to your 401k MOM" line triggered me more than anything I've ever seen on your show.
@Santiago-in1xf I agree, completely. But there's a big difference between not being bright and being manipulative, rude, and unappreciative. She knew her life would become more challenging when her parents would stop babying her, so she's certainly not dumb enough to realize what she's doing. It's an act to manipulate, and it is so frustrating to see a loving mom taking advantage of in that way.
This is what happens when you spend years and years insulting older people and villainize them - they are dumb bigots, what could they possible know?? She probably thinks her parents cannot possibly understand her morally superior goals of helping autistic kids
This is the first I've actually watched all the way through. I love how tough he is with them. When he said "it sounds like enabling" that's exactly what it is. My parents helped out when I had a job that only paid $9/hr while I was in college and I'm super grateful for that, but they could and would never take on my credit card debt for me. I know I can always rely on my parents if I have a hard time (like during covid I had to have them pay one of my car payments which I paid them back for when I got my unemployment) but it doesn't mean I have to
Caleb, this is important. I NEED her back in 3 months to see how much she paid on the card, if she got kicked out of school or not, and whether she is still with the boyfriend 🤔
I don't wanna call it, but I am afraid the mom is gonna cave. I don't want her to, but she has caved this far up until now to where she has raised a child that disrespects her like that in public after funding her carelessness.
Her parents paid 4K and she blew her money with no remorse. She is ungrateful and clearly needs to be put in a bad financial situation to finally learn
Unfortunately that might have to be the scenario where her parents just cut her off completely, but the worst thing is that she'll likely go on to make worse decisions, using her parents cut off as an excuse.
I was never studious until I TRIED. I worked my butt off to get into the advanced math and science classes I needed for nursing. I’m a tutor now and the students I tutor who say “I’m just bad at ____” do not put in the effort and do not pass. There are infinite resources in college aimed to help you succeed.
Anyone who was actually financially independent as a teen while balancing tertiary education SCREAMED when she pulled the "but I moved out so it's understandable that I'm failing", and the revealed how much support her parents give her. The ENTITLEMENT.
Because they're so preoccupied with their internal self, it's like being on a prolonged autopilot. They literally live in a world they've built in their heads and aren't aware of anything else, especially not of themselves and how their actions result in consequences. It's a total lack of self awareness.
I’m 21, I’m going on unemployment benefits soon (school+med complications so no job yet, almost sorted tho so fingers crossed), I’ve not even received the first payment yet and I’ve already planned how much goes into food, house, travel, and a little bit into a savings account WITH a little extra to play around with… like how can one not understand that spending money you DONT have is a bad fucking idea!!! A fucking crow understands negative numbers/the concept of nothing and yet some humans can’t understand how to divide accordingly to live… I know there are gonna be times where I want to get something or go out or something and want to take out of allocated funds but it’s all about self control and understanding the consequences that you’ll have later because you took 20$ out of your fuel budget and now you don’t have enough fuel.
I'm 24, in the same boat as you. I'm convinced it's just bad parenting. Can't be anything else. Gen Z has had the entire worlds collective knowledge at their fingertips for almost their whole life. You can look up how to do ANYTHING. And there are people on UA-cam that will teach stuff to you like you're a child. Gen Z should be fiscally smart and technically literate at a minimum. There's no excuse. Gen complains that they can't afford houses, yet they barely know how to use credit or interact in the work and financial market
@@dominiciannucci5217 my mother kinda always taught me that even if you have money, you don’t; it’s helped me not make very frivolous purchases. She even gave me the experience of this is how much you have, spend it how you want but watch how fast it disappears without too much self discipline; was about 800 bucks and I had spent it over a like 6 month period, not horrible but definitely not great but it made me learn. I basically don’t spend anything outside of I have $50 (after any needed payments are done cause fuck debt) what small thing(s) will bring me some joy for like the next couple weeks or months, usually I get a game on steam (has to be at least 50% off tho) or something I can use multiple times until it’s gone.
I wish she’d been there more. This was effectively an audit with a teenage child. If she just admitted she was being supported partially by her parents while she was in school then that puts everything in a different light, but frankly not a light worth discussing on this show.
If you have you credit card for any other reason but to build up your credit score, you're too poor to have a credit card. Getting a credit card when you're already struggling and bad with money is like digging your own grave with a rusty spoon.
i had a friend in college who built his credit up by paying his rent and utilities with his credit card, then paying the credit card balance off at the end of each month.
The entitlement right alongside belittling and disrespecting her mother is crazy. Mocking her own mom when she expounds about the sacrifices that got her where she is today, which seems to be pretty stable considering she was able to pay SOMEONE ELSES $3000 of debt, is abhorrent. Part of me understands the almost teenage immaturity that comes with being 20 and on your own for the first time, cus I was there too, but disrespecting my parents was just not a part of my vocabulary. I lost my biological mother at 11, and let me tell you GIRLIE: THEY ARENT THERE FOREVER.
A big part likely comes from her upbringing, as well as her parents treatment of money. At 20, I had just started working full time in my career field and was saving towards buying a house. Now at 37….im married, raising a family, and we recently finished paying off our house. Granted….my parents were financially savvy and taught me about money at a fairly young age…so I was far more financially savvy at 10 than this girl is at 20. My children are learning from us, and are also far more financially savvy than she is.
I remember when Graham suggested Caleb start to add some new elements to the show, diversify a little bit, proactively before he starts to hit the "been there seen that" slump. Your suggestion could be part of that.
Schools brain wash kids to look down on people who didn’t go to college so she thinks it’s beneath her to not be a student wether it ruins her life or not
She didn't understand that paying for everyone's meals was money that would need to be paid back... Higher education is definitely not for her. There is something put there, but I agree wuth Caleb. She should try a certification for sure.
Agreed. While I don’t regret University as such I 100% just cruised into it because I didn’t know what else to do and that is totally the wrong approach. If you can say what you’ll do when you’re done at Uni you shouldn’t be there.
She’s not “trying” anything, she’s going through the motions…anybody could pass community college algebra on the 4th try with a minimum amount of real effort
Some people regress in the presence of their parents, I think especially if they are enablers. I have an older brother who always had severe maturity issues and whenever he was around our mom he would regress dramatically.
Depending on your career, you may only need 1 class and it might just be that you spend it in the math center. However, if you wanted to be an engineer, I would be concerned especially when you get to higher classes like Diff Eqns
Had a friend that couldn't pass Algebra at his community college. Told him not everyone has to go to college, that he has great skills otherwise -- 'go be a Realtor or something'. Today he's super successful selling homes in an affluent area. A Bachelors in Psych won't procure better employment. Still be working a job $10-$20 an hour with that.

Even if she graduated with a psychology degree and planned to get a master's, she'd probably cry during the GRE. Forget about scoring high enough in math to be accepted into a master's program.
That’s incorrect. You can have a bachelors and be a Behavior Analyst. Behavior Analyst are BCBA and BCaBA. BCBA - Masters Degree plus 6 courses, field hours, and supervision BCaBA - Bachelor’s Degree, field hours, and supervision RBT - High School Degree with 40 hour courses

Hi! I’m a college recruiter.
1st. If you aren’t good with math, anything health professions related isn’t a good career.
2nd. To have below a 2.0, it isn’t 1 subject. There are multiple subjects that are either Ds or Fs
3. To be a high school counselor you almost always need a masters
There will however be jobs with that salary that don’t require maths, i wouldn’t know though
@@ZzzZ-sb9juYou won’t find many majors that get to a $80k starting salary right out college that don’t require math. Math isn’t easy so it tends to pay better. There are exceptions but there are uncommon, especially outside of HCOL areas. You can find jobs that don’t require as advanced math however, and within 5-10 years or so easily make 80k or more.

I mean it can even mean spending $1000 dollars IF you can afford it.
E.g. I bought sim racing equipment for my pc for $1000 so I could now calculate how much racing a real car would cost and joke about saving money, but I can do that because I have and emergency fund, put money aside for my retirement every month, and saved up that money.

@@Santiago-in1xf she not very bright
I actually cringed when she did that
This is what happens when you spend years and years insulting older people and villainize them - they are dumb bigots, what could they possible know??
She probably thinks her parents cannot possibly understand her morally superior goals of helping autistic kids
I had a class with her two semesters ago (interpersonal communication) and she acts like that fr this is not a act
The fact that she took an interpersonal communication class and is unable to answer properly is... gold. 100% fitting her interview.
Me personally I believe every UA-cam comment I read
Haha
Wait you knew here??? Dude. She doesn't seem like a real person.
@@Yellowc0ldyeah because people don’t have lives outside of UA-cam you can’t possibly know someone you see here🙄
This is the first I've actually watched all the way through.
All of Caleb’s guests should be mandated to come back for an update…..especially this one.
@@dameneko I'm willing to bet $4,000 the mom caved on the drive home 😂
Can you imagine what a loser that bf must be!
I agree with you but I don’t know if I could watch it after the brain rot from this one.
Caleb, bravo bringing her mom on and addressing her child's poor behavior. I hope this actually leads to substantial change.
Me too
Her parents paid 4K and she blew her money with no remorse. She is ungrateful and clearly needs to be put in a bad financial situation to finally learn
The entitlement is disgusting.
Unfortunately that might have to be the scenario where her parents just cut her off completely, but the worst thing is that she'll likely go on to make worse decisions, using her parents cut off as an excuse.
I barely want my mom to give me money on my birthday, no way in hell I would I let her pay my credit card debt.
I’m 23 and I seriously do not understand HOW these people cannot grasp reality
Because they're so preoccupied with their internal self, it's like being on a prolonged autopilot. They literally live in a world they've built in their heads and aren't aware of anything else, especially not of themselves and how their actions result in consequences. It's a total lack of self awareness.
@@tangina7569You real af for saying this fr
I love adding the mom on this audit. I think having a parent on the same page could help as an extra person to hold her accountable.
And on camera, too. The idea that she wouldn't embarrassed mocking her mom like that is just... insane.
There should be a new show where parents hire Caleb to do an intervention.

I feel like thats how this episode happened lol
I remember when Graham suggested Caleb start to add some new elements to the show, diversify a little bit, proactively before he starts to hit the "been there seen that" slump. Your suggestion could be part of that.
Caleb- please?! 🙏
This is how she fights the patriarchy.
This is why I hate the expectation that people just go to college after high school. It's clearly not for her but she keeps trying
@@nikitaovt159 you proved my point. She's going through the motions bc going to college is expected - not bc it makes sense for her to do
I would be terrified if this was my school counsellor. I’ll probably walk right back out of the room.
Such a sad child. I have no hope for her. The moment her mom walked on her level of immaturity increased dramatically.
Some people regress in the presence of their parents, I think especially if they are enablers. I have an older brother who always had severe maturity issues and whenever he was around our mom he would regress dramatically.
I probably would have done the same at 20. Growing up is a process. But she also needs to grow up.
“You know I vape don’t start”
I could never even fathom speaking to my mother like that.

*fathom 😶🌫️
@@stingyswordfish text to speech. I think the AI is getting dumber.
Going for a degree that is almost guaranteed to be useless, unable to pass college algebra, is positive college is right for her because reasons.
I couldn’t pass community college algebra I dropped out idk what’s wrong with me I just can’t retain the math
Depending on your career, you may only need 1 class and it might just be that you spend it in the math center. However, if you wanted to be an engineer, I would be concerned especially when you get to higher classes like Diff Eqns
Don't forget the constant major hopping
Had a friend that couldn't pass Algebra at his community college. Told him not everyone has to go to college, that he has great skills otherwise -- 'go be a Realtor or something'. Today he's super successful selling homes in an affluent area. A Bachelors in Psych won't procure better employment. Still be working a job $10-$20 an hour with that.
Eh psych isn't completely useless but unless you have a masters+ it is. She can get a cert to just work with kids with autism she'll just never move up.
I worked in ABA. To be a tech you don’t need a degree. To be a therapist you need a masters. There’s nothing in between. The bachelors does nothing.
BCBA - Masters Degree plus 6 courses, field hours, and supervision
BCaBA - Bachelor’s Degree, field hours, and supervision
RBT - High School Degree with 40 hour courses
@@daniellequarter8769 So she didn't even do her research. She literally can work as a ABA at this moment, her "dream job," right now without any college degree
@@333pinkelephant333 Basically, some schooling through a company and an exam to be an RBT. She could be a behavior tech with like a one or two day training. RBT get paid more than behavior techs. Both actual make pretty good money but they are typically 1099 so you have to save about 10% of your income for taxes.
@@daniellequarter8769 I wasn’t counting BCaBA because it’s a useless thing to get. Everyone who gets it just gets a BCBA anyways and you’re just limiting yourself with the BCaBA

It's the claim that she's a big hearted person for me. A kind, big hearted person who's full of love, would not give her elderly parents her credit card debt. While continuing to smile and giggle like nothing is a big deal.
Literally like oh my god. I seriously cannot. My parents work so hard for me and I would never in my life take advantage of their finances and mock them like this?? Like hello??
