If she won't stop smoking weed, she can't get a CDL to drive. You're not allowed to use ANYTHING other than alcohol (and obviously not while driving) with a CDL. My best friend's husband has one. I smoke for chronic pain, and was talking to him about getting a CDL to drive buses locally, but he told me it's either the CDL or weed. Doesn't matter if you're not driving when you're using, you can't have it in your system at ALL. So she'd have to stop smoking, and while it would probably be BEST for her to give it up, get a CDL and be a trucker, she might not be willing to make the sacrifice.

Now I know you weren't talking to me but this is such a nice comment to hear. I wss kicked out of my house after going to get psychiatric treatment. They said I was too much and I wasn't following their religion. They told me I had 3 months to get ready and figure it out but also said earlier that if I didn't have the talk with them they'd kick me out. So I just decided to leave after they called me a burden under god and themselves ans now I'm living with my bf. I moved in when I had known him for 1 month. I could only find a part time job at the time and to keep a good job record have stayed there. I could get a second job but I'm also trying to apply for college and help take care of my bf and his family. I won't get into details about his issues but his mom is in the hospital and has been for a few years. I'm trying to get my cna but with really stupid complications will have to wait till next quarter so I'm getting a second job/finding a new one because this one I can't become full time or go anywhere but stay a busser or try somewhere else. Due to recent illness I haven't been able to work for 2.5 weeks. It's a complete shitshow and the thing is im really working on getting it better. I might not be doing absolutely everything I can but thats because if I do I think by the time I get somewhere comfortable I will be fully burnt out. Burnt out to the point I'd do something I regret. I also can't keep living like this though so slowly I'm working at it. Trying to not take life so seriously because if I do I definitely will do something that my bf would always miss me for and I can't do thay to him. And honestly if it wasn't for him and my future kids I would have just quit by now. I'm only 19, I have so much life and that sounds so awful but so exciting. Because maybe something will change, maybe I won't feel guilty relying on people so much. Hell I even buy my bf gifts but I can't afford to live. I'm just like yeah, you're keeping me alive, here's a soda. Here's some sushi it's all I can afford. I bring home food from work every time I work, there's that. I need that cna certificate.

It's not just paychecks, it's seeing the same people every day, having the same responsibilities everyday, going to the same place everyday. I really like my career. Not lying! At least once a week I have a GREAT time at work, and the rest of my time is anywhere from tolerable to enjoyable! But my time off is MUCH more enjoyable. I absolutely agree that Americans are generally overworked and underpaid, and drawing boundaries with your workplace is good (declining unplanned overtime without compensation, not working without pay, demanding basic respect like legal breaks that you actually get to take, etc.). But refusing to work at all is weird to me. Some of the most enjoyable jobs I've had have been part-time casual, like a second job. If I were to take 2 or 3 of those, work 15-20 hours each, I could make a decent schedule and life, and make good money. I wouldn't let a sup guilt me into working over ("sorry, I have other plans"), work was left at work, and everything was scheduled at least a week in advance!

Gia has the mental and emotional age of 10. Scatterbrained. She's just in the moment. Too selfish to be a parent. Thankfully her young daughter has stability and nurture from her grandmother. Kudos to the grandmother for taking on child rearing responsibilities, especially a child with a disability. The young child could so easily have entered into foster care with strangers.
