  • I'm joined by the delightful Sister Mary Eucharista (Spokane, Washington, USA) who shares her story: her childhood in the Church, time in Francis Schuckardt's north Idaho community, eventual move to Mt. St. Michael's, Washington, working as a teaching sister in their religious community, and finally her coming full circle with 14 other sisters to life in the bosom of the Church! Exciting, real, and an inspiring reflection on the love and mercy of God and the healing power of gratitude and obedience, you won't want to miss this episode!!
    You can find more about Sr. Eucharista and her community, Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Church, here: sistersofmarymc.org/
    and the Immaculate Heart retreat center where she often ministers: ihrc.net/
    She also mentioned "Sound Insight" on EWTN, a radio and tv show that she has been on multiple times (I couldn't find the link yet, sorry).
    Pray for Sister and her community, please, as well as this apostolate! Thank you!!

    As a CMRI-associated podcaster who has interviewed many of the Idaho/Spokane founders, let me say first of all that Sister's recounting of the dark days of 1984 Bishop Schuckardt is both accurate and charitably presented. Men are fallen and fickle. And while I hold strongly to the Theological Position that Sister has, unfortunately, abandoned, I nonetheless pray that God will restore the Traditional Catholic Faith in Rome and re-unite us all in Christ.

      Position of SSPX and similar groups and R&R and Vigano is a non-Catholic nonsense. They lead people to scandal, to false religion, to a sect, to false positions, and to Hell. They basically claim, that you can embrace what ever heresy, preach false Gospel, practice Judaism or Paganism or Islam or New Age, and you are still to be within the Church and even lead a Church. What nonsense and abomination!
      Pope Innocent III, Fourth Lateran Council, Constitution 1, 1215, ex cathedra: “THERE IS INDEED ONE UNIVERSAL CHURCH OF THE FAITHFUL, outside of which nobody at all is saved, in which Jesus Christ is both priest and sacrifice.”
      Pope Clement V, The Council of Vienne, 1311-1312: “But since one is the universal Church, of regulars and seculars, of prelates and subjects, ... one is the Faith and one is the baptism of all.”
      Home-coming to Francis... you people have no faith. I hope for your conversion.

      Pope Benedict XVI explained that the SSPX has no canonical status in the Catholic Church for doctrinal reasons and that SSPX ministers "do not legitimately exercise any ministry in the Church".
      There has been some changes since then regarding marriage and confession. But communion is still illicit. Read info on Vatican website. The letters explain all!

    Thank you for this interview. Deeply appreciated.
    I was born and raised in the Conservative, very reverent Novus Ordo Catholic Church in Poland. I learned to deeply love our Beautiful Lord in this Church.
    Unfortunately i made few bad decisions and left the Church when i came to Canada...few years after....I got so extremely lost that it's a material for a book so won't share it here....Our Lord brought me back to the Church after 20 years.....Unfortunately i begun to study online all kinds of criticism, viscous criticisms toward the Pope and the Church....i became extremely confused and begun attending the SSPX ( not knowing about their canonical problems and all kinds of politics behind).
    I love the Latin Mass so i attended it.
    But, as problematic as they are, i was harmed by the priest as well as the CONSTANT gossip, criticism and viscous attack toward all post Vatican II Popes, especially St John Paul II, my most beloved Pope, (whome i met personally and who is so extremely hated by the SSPX)..
    Rejection of Divine Mercy is another story that just shocked me there.
    Another words i begun to reserch their status....And was of course shocked to learn the whole truth about them.
    I am back in the fullness of the Church....At the beginning i felt very uncomfortable but i am learning to adjust.
    I still can't take Comunion in the hand and noone is forcing me to. There are good people here, however broken as well. Yes....we all are........
    It's not easy to adjust back but i know it's a right thibk to do.
    And no, we don't have to listen to Everythnig the Pope says, especially when he speaks as a man, but we must follow God's Holy Church.
    And yes, there are many beautiful, reverent Holy Masses in this Beautiful Church. We Truly are in danger when we are outside. I lived it, i saw the demons ( especially when i was totaly lost) and i know this Church is Holy and full of God's Light.
    Anyone who attacks God's Holy Church, especially Traditional Catholics who should know better ( other people just don't know and we should tell them by the way), should examine their conscience.
    Again, Thank you for this video. May God Bless you 🙏 ❤️

      Yes, several years ago I went to Mass on Divine Mercy Sunday at an FSSP church and the priest never mentioned Divine Mercy in his homily! And mercy is a subject that should be preached all year! It was very disappointing. I had supported FSSP financially for years and I still love them, but that really shook me.

    • @aaronsmith5904

      I appreciate your concern, one possible explanation (I am not sure) is that since FSSP use the 1962 missal Divine Mercy Sunday might not be in that missal.

    Dear Sister, what an honesty!! I followed some smaller documentaries about your community and group from Germany, and now I just want to say THANK YOU for your courage, honesty and love!! The main point seems to be love. You may think different from some perspectives in the church, even of the pope, being more moved by tradition vs. by a fresh and new spirit. Love never would try to put the other perspective down, nor to harm a different thinking person. It is possible to think different within the church, to embrace diversity in unity. Greetings, solidarity and support in prayer from a Catholic apostolic hermit in Germany! KR

    This interview is absolutely wonderful, touching on so many issues that I realized I have yet to deal with in my transition back to the Vatican II Church. Thank you so much to Sister Mary Eucharista, and your beautiful witness. I remember singing the song in the beginning, 'Sons of God', as a song we sang when I was a teen. I remember the altars being turned around, I remember the felt banners with the silly contemporary sayings, I remember the folk groups, when the Communion rails were removed, Communion in the hand established, lay Lectors, lay Extraordinary Ministers, and then in the 90s, altar girls. These and other issues caused me to look into the Latin Mass, and eventually I was nearing the line, crossing over into sedevacantism. But thanks be to God, by His amazing grace I am back in the 'mainstream' Church. I still can't get past the latest one, altar girls, but Sister Mary has really touched on deep issues that I have dealt with, and she has helped me to further embrace the Church. Thank you with deep gratitude!

      When I see the altar girls, together with the altar boys, at my parish mass, I think of Jesus words, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” The girls are also part of those little ones who Jesus loves so tenderly.
      And also how in the Gospel we are told that the Apostles were with Him, and also some women, who would serve Him and the Apostles and support them with their means.

    Glad to hear this. I was very interested by how Laura and Sr. talk about the importance of the laity and it doesn’t negate tradition. Sadly I get the feeling that some on the trad spectrum seem to be types who prefer an authoritarian style yet paradoxically don’t like any authority except what they agree with. It’s as if they put faith in a mass or in the case of some, a man but faith needs to be in God and his church and that he will provide. Sadly whether left or right I find such groups lose faith in God and put it in man or man’s ideas.
    Also, I’d love to know now how sister feels about the rise of the internet that sadly might be pulling people into toxic traditionalism.

    • @Ashley-li5yv
      @Ashley-li5yv 7 місяців тому +2

      @@darlenebradley6756how are you defining traditionalism? For the most part, yes it is toxic because people are taking onto themselves judgement of dogma, culture, dress etc over and above what the church teaches. They’re behaving in a Protestant way rejecting the head of the church in favour of their own interpretations. I used to be a trad and it was exhausting constantly worrying about what I can read, what Mass I can attend etc. that now that I can look back was obviously scruples. We need to have mistrust in our own judgement and trust in the church. If we obey the church and it turns out a prelate is wrong, we won’t be culpable because God values obedience over perfect execution of liturgy

  • @darlenebradley6756
    @darlenebradley6756 7 місяців тому +8

    How have our faith lives become so complicated?? I am a convert to the Catholic Church, leaving the evangelical/protestant traditions in which I was raised, for the very things that are now being embraced by the Vatican....leaving me feeling very much homeless. I am not a Sedevacantist, and don't have anything in particular against the NO mass vs the TLM, but no one can honestly say that there are not some huge problems.
    I have a difficult time understanding, what seems to be utter visciousness in the dissolution of monasteries (it seems for the sale of the properties) pushing nuns and religious out into the street. The veneration of an Amazon idol in St. Peter's, and more attention to the climate -- planting trees instead of the work of saving souls. Distrubing video of half naked carnival dancers prancing about in front of the Holy See! The most egregious are statements that I can only interpret as 'all religions lead to God and, therefore, Heaven.' What the heck is that? If everyone will eventually be saved, why bother with being a Christian in this life?
    The current pope's treatment of people who prefer, and want, to attend a traditional mass is just a scandal, in my opinion. And the questionable appointments being made to the College of Cardinals, cancelling bishops, and the laicization of priests like Frank Pavone, covering up sex sin, all add to the growing sense of spiritual assault among many. All the while expecting my money. The problems are legion.
    The collapse of the Church in the way it caved in completely to the virus restrictions -- without the slightest pushback from even the pope, indeed that along with the endorsement of the vaccine (which nearly cost me my job) -- have taken a severe toll on me and many of my friends. I work in (what used to be) a Catholic hospital. I recently noticed a building just off our property, but sporting a sign with the hospital name and logo, that identifies it as some sort of children's services. With all the DEI being bantied about (people putting their pronouns in their email credentials) I have a very sickening feeling the services being offered are 'gender affirming' care. I haven't had the courage to pursue finding out just yet. All of this has left me a sort of 'Christian-at-Large'. I have only been to mass about 10 times since the shutdowns.
    I have maintained my personal devotions, more or less, through the use of the Breviary, missal, rosary, 'freelance' reading of the Bible, daily prayer, etc., and through the mutual support of a group of like-minded friends, but I miss attending church and looking for a new home where the shepherd has some courage to take a stand. I have located a small parish church near my home, it is traditional, but my initial visits were met with a warmth and interest in me personally I have never experienced before in any of the Catholic Churches I have previously attended. I'm hoping.
    Thank you for this post. Please pray for me.

    I entered via RCIA, just before we scooted down that slippery slope. Coming from a “unique” fundamentalist background, I was in awe of that most beautiful, glorious wondrous TLM. Yes, I was flipping pages like crazy (how DO you know where the heck you are), sit, stand, kneel…. I was learning….
    THEN ~~~~
    Everything was laid out like a college lecture hall. Kum-Bye-Yah, et al is for summer camp.
    My past was men & Boys in suit & ties, shoes shined, dresses& shoes saved aside for church. No one would dare enter in rumpled, butt-crack shorts, no socks with untied laces….
    People’s behavior and attention spans seem to go up & down along with their outfits. One can be well-groomed & respectful without spending a fortune. I’m in Chicagoland and would have to drive over 50 miles in urban traffic.
    The very few others are in horrible neighborhoods…
    Guess I missed the memo where someone wanted my opinion.

I have learned ao much about our faith that has been hidden from me my entire life there. I have not disconnected from my NO parish either.It is very difficult for me to not be in full communion, however, I can't deny this this journey of discovery I have been on for the last few years. am Catholic and have been my whole life. I also listened to this with as open a mind as possible. I am having trouble trying to understand how, as a lay person who has SERIOUS questions about what is happening in the Church, I can NOT stay quiet or refrain from criticism of any kind when it comes to seeing wrong being done....not call it out. The Apostle Paul wrote extensively about the need to call out wrong in the Church when there was so much in the way of conflicting theology and teaching even in the first century. Then there were things like the Arian Heresy of the 4th century and others less notable or famous since. How are we to combat such things if we are not to even criticize what we think may be error? I have many, many questions about what Pope Francis has done, and is doing...not sure if it is him, or bad counsel, but I'm getting very uncomfortable about some of his appointments and political entanglements. I, too, am investigating the TLM.

    Laura, for me the highlight of this video was near the end when Sr. Eucharista discussed Divine Mercy. When you said "I know it's just a private revelation," it made me wince. Only to have Sr offer her counterpoint that St John Paul II's incorporation of Divine Mercy Sunday into the Official Liturgy of the Church makes the statement, "it's just a private revelation" improper or at least inaccurate.

    • @mrshappycatholic
      @mrshappycatholic  5 місяців тому +1

      I didn't mean to dismiss Divine Mercy as unimportant, as I believe it to be hugely important. But we have to remember that even when the Church adds a feast to the calendar that doesn't technically make something private revelation into Divine Revelation, aka necessary to be believed in order to be saved. That was the distinction I was trying to make; partly because all too often Trad types take private revelations like OL of Fatima and blow it up like it's dogmatic, or give attention to it greater than to the Scriptures, and they even read in interpretations (in their fixation upon it) that were not intended by the original message. It can really mislead people, and as a result sometimes people are leery of having other such revelations crammed down their throat. I want people to love Jesus as He manifested Himself through the Divine Mercy message, but I don't want to come off too strong as "you're not a good Catholic if you don't get all into this". Everyone should celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday itself, though, as part of the Church year when special graces are available, and we should rejoice in that. :) what a wonderful gift! :D

      @@mrshappycatholic I totally understand your point. I had originally posted a longer comment, but then deleted most of it. So the tone or context of what I left was poorly framed. I really enjoyed the video BTW.
      I'm just sensitive to the issue I suppose. For better context I'll set out a revised version of my original longer comment.
      In the past few years Divine Mercy Sunday has been ignored in my local TLM. It didn't start out like that though. When the feast was added by JPII it was received with joy, sermons were given in an effort to explain it, extra confession time was provided and distribution of communion made liberally available outside of the Mass. All of this to enable everyone an opportunity to benefit from the promise connected to that feast. So, to have it fall completely off the radar with changes in pastors has been really sad.
      I think the distancing that has taken place stems from focusing on the gift bestowed upon the individual sinner (remission of all punishment for sins already forgiven) without considering the bigger picture. The "why" or the purpose of the grace. It seems to me that God desires that for us to offer up prayers and penance without any stain of self-interest. At least for a day, or an hour, or even a few minutes depending on the individual. To have millions of people performing the good works that Jesus prepared for them beforehand out of pure love and self-giving to others in need of grace. Freely we received and in pure freedom we are able to give since on that day God looks upon our soul and sees that there is nothing to be applied in remission for our past faults. That we are praying, sacrificing, doing penance purely and entirely for others. It seems some priests have been unable to reconcile the enormity of the gift offered on Divine Mercy Sunday, with the need for penance, penance, penance. If those priests could focus on the enormity of the benefit that the recipient of the grace is (or should be) conferring on this culture of death, I'd like to think they would embrace the private revelation with great joy.
      As it stands now, the image which was previously put on display that day for veneration is kept in a closet. The feast day approaches without any mention of it. When the great feast day arrives it may not be mentioned at all. And if you arrive before Mass thinking you can make your confession that day before receiving Holy Communion, well, the box may have a light on for you, but it may not.
      It seems that even official recognition of the feast by the Church in the Missal of the ordinary form isn't enough to cause some pastors to create a little room for it in the usus antiquior of '62.

      The comment of Pope Francis that you refer to was anecdotal, allegedly made before he was pope, but since he has been pope he has confirmed multiple times the fact (and his belief) that the Society is indeed schismatic. Even in that famous airplane interview in 2019 he mentioned Lefebvre's movement as an example of schism.

      It is now. The Latin always said "for many" but for some reason the first English translation rendered it as "for all", but that was corrected in the 2011 retranslation of the Roman Missal into English. The consecration was still valid and acceptable even with the words "for all" if you read the pertinent articles in "the Pope, the council and the Mass" book it lays that all out very clearly.

    I dont undersrand why the early way we did mass is banned. Why not give people a choice. If the religion is valid from the beginning why ban one instead of doing them all? There are so many churches closing down why not let them do them the more earlier ways it might bring people back.

    • @mrshappycatholic
      @mrshappycatholic  7 місяців тому +4

      If you watch some more of the interviews on my channel you'll see how the Mass itself is not at fault, but that it's being used by these radical groups as a weapon against the church's unity, to get what they want and to do whatever they want, in direct disobedience to the popes lawful authority. It's being used to hurt the Church, and Pope Francis is seeing the harm and trying to mitigate any further damage. The Mass isn't banned for groups like FSSP and ICKSP. But the outcry and terrible behavior of Trads following Traditionis Custodes shows that the Pope was justified in doing what he did. If they had responded with humility and patience it would have shown the movement to be a good one, but the bitter diatribes prove the Pope's point. It's unfortunate

    • @nick_romeo

      The Pope is not minimizing Damage. The Pope is Maximizing Damage either willingly or unwillingly, we do not know. This being said, he is still the Pope. But a Pope according to "Their Wants" Father Ripperger says when everything you do, maximizes Damage, that is not incompetance, but that is Malice. I trust Father Ripperger, but we do not know if this can be applied to this Pope only. We can not ignore Bugnini's actions, and the weakness of the Novus Ordo Liturgy, especially in the propers of the prayers. There are almost no supplications to God. Everything is protestantized. That being said Everything is supposed to happen this way. It seems to be the will of God. We are supposed to Pray for the Pope. We are supposed to be Catholic above all. Focus on saving souls by praying the Rosary, and do not be Toxic towards Novus Ordo attendees. The mass is not banned for the FSSP or the other ecclesia Dei institutions, because they were created as a strategic interference to the SSPX. Once they robbed all the attendees from the SSPX, and the SSPX would have been un-sustainable financially, it is theorized by many that they would have banned the mass again. This is a creative (Maybe Italian Strategy), but we in North America are stupid and do not understand how most of the world thinks. Italians have the same creativity in crime and politics that they have in art. Luckily, it seems that it is the will of God for the SSPX to continue keeping on trucking, keeping the Eccelesia Dei institutions functioning as well. It is good to have a spectrum. Willliamson's Resitance movement will keep the SSPX in check it seems so they do not capitulate too much to "Modernist" Rome. I have experienced "vitriolic" hatred from people who say I should not go to SSPX. But the Hypocrisy is that those same people would never dare to criticize an Orthodox or Coptic in the same way, which are Literal Heretics that Deny the Papacy among many other Dogmas. Mrs. Happy Catholic, I am glad your channel exists. Thank You for making this Channel and doing these interviews. It is important that we are able to all talk to each other in Charity. And the few who remained faithful to the cross were ones that never lost faith in that . Those who scattered were ones who were scandalized by the passion. All thru out Church history we can see over and over again, those who scattered (left the Church) was due to being scandalized by the Papacy , ( the shepherd). It’s always a loss of faith in the papacy that causes division. And scattering.

    I am a convert from Protestantism. I converted by praying the Rosary. Five years ago, I enrolled in RCIA in my small Texas town parish. Very soon it became apparent that this was not the Catholic faith. The priest chanting Hindu prayers and telling us to study Hindu scriptures kind of tipped me off, and then I saw Pope Francis participating in Pachamama idol worship in Vatican newsclips. I was horrified and never returned to that church. I wanted to be Catholic, so I asked a CMRI nun to catechise me via correspondence using the Baltimore Catechism. I have never regretted it. I was conditionally baptized by. CMRI priest, and then later, I was actually brought into the Church by an SSPX priest who explained that Sedevecantism was not the solution to the crisis in the Church. I am still not Confirmed. I am afraid that the Bishop of my diocese will confirm me in a Synodal Church, and I want nothing to do with that. The apostasy in Rome is a great cross for some of us, but we can't leave the Lord's Church.

      Exactly! I am a convert, too, from the Presbyterian Church (I was en 'elder' in that denomination). I left because they, like other denominations I had been in, began to endorse sin, embracing it to the point of ordination to the pulpit, people in open, same sex relationships, abortion, and other cultural issues that I just could not square with Scripture. Someone gave me Scott Hahn's book "Rome Sweet Home" and I was pointed to the Church. Now that I'm a member of the Catholic Church, I am being faced with the very things that drove me out of those other churches. Only this time, there is no place to run -- the Catholic Church IS Christ's church on earth so I am feeling quite adrift on a sea of confusion, in search of a safe harbor. It is indeed a heavy cross.
      I am curious about one thing, however. You say an SSPX priest brought you 'into the Church' but you are not 'confirmed'? How, or in what way do you mean that? I always thought being received into the Church and confirmation wer the same thing...are you referring to the Easter ritual?
