I’m not trying to sell you a boiler, but I’d like to sell you a boiler. 😅
@@PipeDoctor. That’s right. You and gunzilla gonna have to wear jerseys with all your sponsors on them before long.
@@PipeDoctor can't wait I love fresh installs
I'm glad to hear you give Steve Lav an acknowledgment. There's plenty of room on UA-cam for both of you, you don't need to be enemies.
mikey pipes was so excited about a sponsor that he didn't get all the water out of the expansion tank... nice job as always.. love your videos....
It's a beautiful morning here. I have a hot cup of coffee and watching Mikey Pipes and Godzilla! It just doesn't get any better than this. You two gentlemen have a wonderful day.
11:30 pm now , up at 4:30 am , should be in bed but your videos are addicting !!! So good, testo 320, billing , bags to leave literature , all the info , I thank you for doing great work and a true professional!!
Hey Mikey, I must say you have the coolest tools, enjoy your video's thanks.
Nothing beats knipex.. except that shout out to Steve! Good stuff!
great vid as usual Saint Mike! the winds we had besides the cold temps last night were unbelievable. here in Ronkonkoma/Suffolk county we had about 70 mph winds. Even though I am not in the business, I still learn a lot from you and if I know someone who needs you who is in your service area I will recommend you to them. The humor from You and Gunzilla is out of this world as well. Keep the great vids coming. As someone with a vision impairment, when you do something the commentary of what is going on really helps and does me a great job to know what is going on and how I can interpret what is going on in the video. I can't thank you enough, I always look forward to another vid every day or so whenever you put something up. you ever work on oil? I see you deel with a lot of gas fired equipment.
Nice work Mikey Pipes.
I like the way you explain it to customer keep it up
Mikey, you quite literally may have saved my life with this video. I have a CGA-4 that had been acting and leaking from everywhere. After checking the pressure gauge it was running at 70PSI! I manually forced the pressure relief valve open and my room filed with acrid brown steam. Root cause? Faulty expansion tank and pressure relief valve. I live in rural Montana and getting a plumber out is a weeks long operation and at least a $500 service charge. I followed this video exactly and I'm back in action! Boiler is quietly humming along at 30 psi and dry as a bone. I can't thank you enough for these videos and if you're ever in SW Montana look me up, I'd be happy to buy you a steak dinner?
Great video as always 👍
I learned a lot. Thanks guys
Great video .retired but learning. On west coast most of what u doing is not seen .but .it Great to learn
Just picked up some knipex today at the supply house. The guy I ride with uses them and I absolutely love them, so I went out and bought the 10" and 12" pair
Going back thru your archived vids & watching again while waiting for new vids😊
Anyways, did you hear about the new Milwaukee M18 inflator that’s coming out. Able to fit a 12.0 battery and possibly a new 15 or 16 amp battery (15-16 amp battery rumor as of now). Bigger than the m12, naturally, but it’s cool👍🏻
You're just like Mike Holmes....you do it right! 👍👍
Nice work in a tight area
That was a nice shout out to Steve Lav trying to mend thew fences ! Maybe I'll subscribe?
Alright I'm subscribing! Thanks for the good content. I've been a commercial/ industrial hvac tech for 25 yrs. It's nice to see the residential side and the new things that are available. So when people ask I can be more informed. Thanks.
@@PipeDoctor back up to 12K. Glad you left those bums that unsub in the dust
YA STEVE LAV.....
VERY NICE MIKEY PIPES
Love your content also!!!!!!
Congrats on the sponsor Mikey babe you deserve it!
@@PipeDoctor Navien? Wait don't tell me SupplyHouse?
Nice channel man, just found it. Do you work in Suffolk also?
This is how a professional plumber does business.
Another sucessful service call you make it look easy and is definitely not easy
When you use the Milaukee M12 inflator, what inflation PSI do you set the device?
Also, on my Weils Mclain CGA boiler, exactly like you're working on here, the drain valve is closed but the brass cap on the hose connection is hard to turn and feels extremely hot. Is it possible that the cap is under water pressure, despite the valve bring closed?
Finally, what kind of hose did you use on the drain valve hose connection? I will need to buy a hose because the valve is too close to the floor to place a bucket underneath. I am not sure if it needs to be 3/4" or 5/8".
Thanks for posting the normal range for the combustion test. I never see the the co² level on your tester. I have an oil fired background and look at co² more so than o²
I like that m12 inflator please consider myself if you want to pass one along. I have a hard time Inflating domestic expansion tanks. Ed
Thats so genius with the inflator lol
Hey Mikey another good one I have same boiler I commented yesterday about the boiler hood I noticed this one steps down to 5” as well
@@PipeDoctor no worries Mikey
"You don't have to empty it completely"
Starts pissing water when he takes it off
Just busting your balls Mikey, good work.
I love that woman. I’ve got a few clients that are that funny with their comments. Your right about the area, it’s beautiful. We spend our summers in Nova Scotia on the ocean in a little town. There’s nothing more wonderful.🇨🇦👍
I currently live in Southern Jersey, Long Beach Island and have for the past 7 years trying to talk my better half to make the move to Nova Scotia. I am in the marine commercial industry 27 plus years repairing the vessels, have certifications on the different hvac units also ice makers but the commercial industry is not as big as at once was.. I have fallen back into the pleasure boating world and I freaking hate it!!! It is an effort to get out of bed everyday, need to get back into my element. Woukd like to test my skills against a residential/ commercial hvac tradesman, hence my saying would be willing to come and work for free for the day.
@@potatolew4495 I’m in Ontario. I’ve been in the trade since 1975. I’m semi retired after two heart attacks and a triple bypass back in 2017. We rented a cottage for two weeks a year for 6 or 7 years. Finally got smart and started looking at real estate. Ended up buying a house we used to walk by almost daily. The house overlooks the cottages we used to stay at. I don’t work while I’m there as I said I’m semi retired. Never got into the refrigeration side of the business. Don’t even work on my own refrigerator or freezer. Was always taught to stay in your own lane. Be good at a couple of things, you can’t be good at everything.
@@danobrien3109 very true. If you are referring to my marine experience the oil fired boilers are the same as a house, chiller systems are the same as a buying with chilled glycol, and the refrigeration systems are basically the same as your local liquor store beer fridge. The only thing I worked on different was blast freezers, they a made to flash freeze fish and are - 60 inside.
I actually have a Husky tool bag that someone bought me,I've had it for 3 years,it's actually holding up nicely!
A nice and easy service call to start the day.........they all should be that way😄
Wouldn’t you also need fresh air for that water heater that’s there also and can’t you just install a return grill from that room to the other or can u do a lover door
So the expansion tanks are actually an accumulator with a bladder or membrane inside ,using nitrogen or similar as a cushion ?
I was just going to ask you too ,how do you know how long to leave the M12 inflator running . So how long should you have kept it going ?
Mikey pipe's & GunZilla👍👍👍👍 Another great educated video . Honestly your speaking method to customers is extraordinary amazing hard to find a person that does both I've met guys in the hvac fields that could probably fix a rocket ships if they got the chance to but speaking to a customer it's a hole another story Very impressive not just this video but multiple Videos are you breakdown the function all types of equipment to customers and give them a verbal and illustrated breakdown of equipment and components . Keep it up your definitely taking this channel to the moon and on the shot out to Steve lav that was great super respectful And humble of you 👍 Also can you please talk about your hobby on the 265 reef tank you Built-in your basement on your live chats that something that would definitely intrigued the UA-cam community a lot of us in this trade also have these type of fish hobbies Our selves me personally Owning (2) 150 gallons saltwater fish tank (1) 150 gallon freshwater fish tank and (1) 75 gallon turtle tank in my basement .
I find by using a 3/4 male by 3/4 compression adapter on the relief valve makes it easier to take the downspouts off the relief valve
I've been using them for 30 years. 7/8 compression × 3/4 male
hey mikey- could you sell them a setup like commercial jobs for the combustion air, damper with end switch?
true mensch making peace with "Oh how you dooiiinnngg....".
Hey mikey pipes what you wearing on the feet are they plumbing shoes
Oh another question, did you drain the boiler completely before you pumped out the water from the tank? Also I noticed you didn't replace the old Amtrol tank with another Amtrol. Does it matter which company the tank is from?
@@PipeDoctor did you drain the boiler completely before draining the tank?
the xtank install kits come with a little check valve that lets you change the tanks by just unscrewing the old one and installing a new one....I'm sure you no that.
I replaced my relief valve but it still releasing water out. What could be causing it
Proper job
Mike, Take another look at that gauge, you are looking at "feet of water" not psi. Actual pressure on the system is 17 ish psi. Maybe glasses are needed?
Knipex makes some nice tools. I bought the 10 and 12" plier wrenchs. Going to take them out on there maiden voyage today
Let us know what you think -I’m thinking about getting them
Also glad to hear you give a shout out to Steve Lav. He's a great guy and I unsubscribed from you because of how you were being toward him before. We're all in this business to make money doing what we love so no need to trash a guy. Maybe I'll subscribe to you again
I subscribed again. You did the right thing and I can respect that immensely. Keep on doing your thing brother
No roofing nail and furnace cement for the hole in the stack. Old school baby.
Thought for sure you would snip off that cable tie tail!
Who makes your valve tags?
@@PipeDoctor Thank You Sir
Good enough for that neighbourhood
I got that same clc bag and the main strap ripped off the second day I had it. And with the clc backpack. I won't buy anymore though. Veto for me
Cute tip for the future, let GodZilla knock and work on the service call while you help him
What water boiler would you go with specifically if it was your house?
I personally have a Navien NFB-200 with a NPE-240A
Moving forward, Bosch or Weil McLain.
Thanks for the reply!@@PipeDoctor
Can I use any pump or even a hand pump to pump the water out of the old tank before taking it out?
@@PipeDoctor so any automatic pump will be good?
@@PipeDoctor can you put too much air in the expansion tank where it will explode? Sorry for all the questions. Do you need to turn the pilot off before working on draining the boiler? Do you need to drain the boiler completely before working on it?
Pipes and Lav are playing nice now. UA-cam spanking maybe?
How about an automatic louvered vent in the wall for fresh air ? Funny you made the comment about Godzilla's bag being inferior when he got it and now I see why! That was a cozy neighborhood next to the airport!
12k and counting holly Molly
Not bad for this neighborhood
That boiler looks like it was installed in a hurry after sandy.
Crack the window open when it’s 20 degrees?
The air will come in one way or another.
You provide service in ozone park?
yes
*HOW DO YOU KNOW EXPANSION TANK IS FULL, OTHER THAN TAPPING ON IT?*
*WHY CANT YOU REMOVE THE EXPANSION TANK, TURN IT UPSIDE DOWN, DRAIN THE WATER, AND REINSTALL IT? IF ITS NOT LEAKING, THE BLADDER AND TANK IS STILL GOOD.*
are you in the habit of SCREAMING??
👍
I really like that u gave steve lav a shout out very big of u peace and love signed bigcatmatt soft n warm the quiet storm purple power baby love videos
always buy Mikey Pipes and GunZilla Name-brand tools!! they work smarter not harder!
19degrees outside and the heat turned down low.. that Bidet water gonna be wayyyy too cold.. !!! I watch Lav for all the oil burner stuff..
fan in the can do work.i took a dumb dik approach to my own house 20 yrs ago.did a 4'' screened vent to out side, bringing a dryer metal vent down near burner.been working ,nothing to fail.
Where do I find the cheat sheets for testing?
@@PipeDoctor do you have any others?
Keep the peace brother to much hate around us today! She will be ready for a Navien in 5 years.
Mr Smart guy...forgot to turn on the water. lol..
I use The Home Depot bucket :)
Boiler pressure was at like 16 psi. You were reading the wrong gauge. Haha. Still needed an extank tho
I noticed there no drip leg on the gas t just a plug wtf
Mike, I think you did a mistake on the Draft pressure, you were supposed to drill another hole on top or either put the probe where fresh air mix the flue gases which is called undiluted air.
@@PipeDoctor I was told wrong information then, so where you take the combustion is where you the draft as well?
Why couldn't you leave the expansion tank in place after pumping all the water out of it with the compressor
That tank had failed, that's what he was there to replace.
*THEY CAN INSTALL A VENT IN THE DOOR TO THE ROOM, AND AIR WILL BE DRAWN FROM THE HOUSE. OPENING A WINDOW DURING WINTER WILL FREEZE THE PIPES. PLUSE WATER HEATER WILL BE COLD AND THE HEATING ELEMENT WILL BE RUNNING 24 HOURS TO MAINTAIN TEMPERATURE, EXPENSIVE*
Looks like we need a DIY expert in the house! Who knew opening a window could cause so much trouble?
I put a shutoff valve above the ex tank
open the valve!..lol
Used fan in a can a shit ton ,they would wrap these fucking house so tight, and seal out all of the air from the basement and the equipment would literally run out of combustion air!
