Just purchased one today! Was envying Springfield for a while. Greetings from a 21 year old gun nut. Took it to the range today and it shot like a dream
The recoil spring bind issue is not true, once the spring and GI plug is installed in the gun there is really no where for the spring to move so there is no recoil or performance advance to a full-length guide rod, but with the GI guide rod set up I can take the gun down a lot quicker WITHOUT TOOLS.
@@justusbryant7366it’s a two piece guide rod also, not just full length. You can’t depress the guide rod till you take the end cap off. Which takes an Allen wrench.
For a kind of a noob to guns: What would be the gun to go for when you want a smooth 1911 for static shooting, including a rail for lamp options? There are dozens of those I think from Springfield, Kimber, Colt, Sig, etc. It‘s hard do determine what would be really nice to have, since infos regarding the guts of the guns is rare.
Just bought one today waiting 2 weeks to get it so excited

The taller guy here is badass. He's a legendary competition shooter.
20 years ago I had a Mil-spec and it was 100% reliable. I regret selling it.
Me too
Thanks you Springfield for stopping the discrimination against left handed shooters 😂😂
I've got the milspec and man it is a nice pistol!

You can take it down with no toools with the full length

@@charlesprice7608 I'm not talking about that one. I'm talking about the one piece full length that you can buy to replace that one.
Why are they are only CA compliant models?

Get the Sig 1911 Stainless. It’s one of the only 1911’s with a decent rail.
How is this different from the range officer other than front slide serrations?
The difference is that the Loaded is still in production. ;)
Full guide rod ok . But it’s a two piece Not a One piece!!
Agreed. Here is a video on replacing it in the Springfield: ua-cam.com/video/WsWWYcp3gEE/v-deo.html
