I put about 150 rnds through mine, for the first time today. Its an excellent gun. Carried one in the service, and Springfield really did it justice with the upgrades and manufacturing. Shoots very tight groups, with crappy ball ammo. Was outshooting my GP100, and that's a very nice shooter.
Picked mine up in December 2019 for $768 along with the Springfield Armory Gear Up promotional package that included 5 magazines, a hard case, a soft range bag, a OWB paddle holster and a dual magazine holster. Has nearly a thousand flawless rounds run through and feel it’s been one of my best firearm purchases ever… Literally one of my pride & joys!… Totally feel I lucked out as I was going to purchase a basic Springfield Armory G.I. version for $499 with only one magazine… when I stumbled upon the deal on this Stainless steel beaut of a handgun… 👍🏼😎
I got mine brand new for about $650 seven years ago. It was an absolute steal, especially considering the fact that it came with the carrying case, 4 mags, a plastic holster, and all of the other bits and bobs. Overall I've been thrilled with it. I'd recommend the Springfield 1911 to anyone looking for a solid, reliable, inexpensive handgun.
@@Conklikovthat’s truly a darn shame as the Loaded has been discontinued and to be honest the Garrison without the front serrations, ambidextrous safety and full guide rod doesn’t quite compare…
I used to own a Taurus PT1911 with the 5" barrel that I sadly had to sell but recently I purchased a Springfield Armory 1911 Ronin model with the 4.25" barrel and I really love this pistol. It shoots plenty straight, has an aluminum frame so it's a little lighter weight, and the recoil is very manageable. Eventually I might purchase another full sized 1911 but for now this one is my EDC weapon of choice. Surprisingly, it conceals quite well with the right holster.
Nice choice in your first 1911. My first 1911 I got was a Ruger SR1911 Lightweight Commander and its performed flawlessly so far. Looking to get a full size 1911 next, possibly a Springfield. But you got yourself a winner there and you can't really go wrong with Springfield or Ruger.
You can avoid "idiot scratches" by using a credit card or guitar pick to hold the plunger in place and press straight down with the slide release. Then yank out the credit card while pushing down on the slide release and it "usually" just snaps in. There are youtube videos of how to do this.
ya i learned that one, funny thing is a bought a ruger 1911, and had no issues getting pin in, it just slips right in. Maybe the springfield is tighter, but after getting some rounds in it. it has loosened up quite a bit and is alot easier. But with the new springfield, i can surely say i get how they happen. And life you said with the credit card, they wont happen again with some extra due diligence
Actually, if you line the slide release up level, all you have to do is push it straight in and don't need to rotate or wiggle. Just line it up and push it straight in.
I HATE idiot scratches. When it happens it’s almost as if the gun is compromised or contaminated. It’s like when you find out that your daughter had sex...you just don’t see them the same.
Nice SA Loaded. You can always get a Wilson Combat 1 piece full length guide rod or switch to a GI one. I believe they are around $25 on Brownells. I usually get that and a WC bulletproof firing pin and disconnector for my SA 1911s. Among other parts to replace MIM stuff.
I recommend them for sure. I have unfortunately traded mine in to fund another purchase but have since got back into 1911s and have regretted this decision ever since. I will probably buy another one, although I have given the garrison some serious thought as it seems to be the loadeds successor
@@Conklikov My Springfield 1911 A1 9mm jams on ANYTHING .. .. lucky to fire 2 rounds in succession. Bought it brand new and it is not something I would buy again (if only I had known) The rear sight did tear up my thumb and fingers. ..the gun stores all had meager inventory (So I prefer my Ruger Match Champion). Night Hawk says they can get it to be reliable for another $950 I have to decide what to do with it.
Ya , the two piece guiderods are a questionable decision by Springfield. Sure they are easy to disassemble but having one come apart is not ideal. And sure you can loctite it, but then what’s the point.
Nice overview. I have the same one, I call it my Glockish 1911 because I have had no malfunctions in over 1000 plus rounds. (well I had a magazine issue which was remedied by getting Wilson Combat magazines.
No i do not, The beaver tail does a good job. One thing i have come to realize tho is ambi saftey unless you absolutely need it ( as in your a lefty, or need it for serious self defense situations and duty use). it is a pain and makes the general comfort of the pistol while shooting sub par, in my experience. maybe i just got big hands, but it rides right on my pointer finger knuckle. Not to mention it just adds width and makes it harder to carry.

You sure picked one fine 1911 as your first one. IMO, you did very good.

Ya I have since sold this gun and regret it. Getting back into 1911s . I will probably end up getting a garrison instead of loaded tho.

That's a sweet looking 1911
Over 1000 rounds and no problems. Ball, hollow, aluminum and steel case. Also still very tight. I did switch to a go guide rod

1911’s are surprisingly easy to carry. They are thin in the right areas, and ya they are a bit heavy but the are very safe to carry as well
@@Conklikov I agree. Great pistols for sure

Don't know about yours but mine has the nicest crisp trigger on it. Better than my Kimber.
it is a nice trigger

Well over z thousand round no issues changed out guide rod with a wilson the two piece will looseness
I prefer the one piece solid design myself as well less fail points
Nice new tools!
Best 1911 for the price, just replace the guide rod and youre golden
