My husband retired from making shoes, when the industry moved over seas. He still has a cylinder sewing machine in the garage but has little patience in teaching. Then I found your video and now I'm going to give it a try. 😳 LOL
YYEESSSSSSS!!! FINALLY a video on the advantages of a cylinder vs. flatbed!! Thank you times infinity for taking the time and the effort to produce this video.
This helped a lot. I am a beginner at leather crafting, and want to make bags, I initially thought that a flat bed was a good starting point until I saw this video. I could have shot myself in the foot. Good thing I started here, with this video, and now I am more/better informed. Thanks for the great informative vid!!!
Wow, I was considering purchasing one of these machines for canvas truck canopies new and repairs but with all the negative comments was reluctant and skeptical. But after watching your video I now understand what to expect. With a little fettling, that I can handle and a sturdier base, I was thinking of mounting it on a piece of pipe with a truck rim for a base so it can be moved around the shop floor. I think this will be a simple easy machine to maintain and repair when needed. Thanks, I am so glad you took the time to share this with us. Play Safe From Elliot Lake Ontario Canada.
Thank You. You convinced me that this is the type of machine best suited for my needs. You have saved me from buying a flat bed. I subscribed. Cheers from Australia
Hey man, I spent so much time over the last few months looking at videos and reading up trying to figure out exactly what sewing machine is the best for me. Your video just told me everything else I had learned. I wish I had seen this video first!
I'm still trying to get enough money to buy my first Machune, and by listening to you, have helped me greatly. Thank you. You suggestion was just a confirmation of what I was thinking for versatility
I just found you today. Great video! Thank you! That really helps a lot. You not only showed the qualities of the machine but how to use some of the functions. Since I know nothing about industrial machines it makes all the difference in the world when I can pick up any little bit to the entire process! I'll have to look at your videos to see if you go over the entire usage of the machine.
This info. is EXTREMELY helpful. I really like your machine. I want to look it up to see what kind of feed it is and bobbin capacity. I have a extensive handbag collection with mostly vachetta leather. I like to modify them to the way I want to use them and especially the straps. I have done some modifications by hand and also have used a local shoe repair, but would like to do them myself by machine. I could see myself sewing canvas for outdoor awnings, umbrellas and upholstery if I had the right machine and I would have to get rid of something to make space for it. I own 4 different machines for various purposes to domestic sewing and quilting. When I get to the end process of my quilting, my domestic machine can't really handle some of the thick multi-layer seams I do. I also sew a lot of denim that my domestic machines can do, but I think an industrial machine could handle it with ease. Thanks for sharing!!!!
I've wanted to do this for years ! I'm new to your channel and I look forward to learning all kinds of things from you. I just want to know and do for myself as I'm 68 years old and not really able to start a business.
Great video Ryan. Perfectly explained and a great display of how this machine works. I have the Techsew 2700 with the flat top attachment. So far I have enjoyed my machine. The fold down guide arm is great, it definitely helps with keeping layers lined up. As for the laser, I've not had much us for it. However that could just do with the items I'm making. It is another good item to have on your machine. Only hang up I do have is not actually with the machine, more with support. Supporting a mechanical item with out seeing the machine can be a lesson in developing patience. My machine is presently having an issue with "back stitching" and hitting the same holes that were made during the forward sewing action. This issue happened after installing the speed reducer. I've engaged their support and they have been responsive and answered all the questions I have as well as giving as much instruction as they can with the info I've been able to provide them. I'm confident this will get resolved, it will just take time with the way their support model is setup, which is phone and email. If anyone has questions I'm happy to assist.
Thank you SOO much I really thank you for your explanation about all the things that I need to know. I've been sewing on a regular sewing machine from the beginning of time and notice that it was very difficult to sew leather that way it's gotten easier but not nothing like what you're doing. Thank you Freddy Turner New York City
I've done a little leather work your presentation was great if I ever get back into it full-time I'll certainly consider that type of machine thank you for bringing my attention to it good job
Most excellent. I arrived at the same conclusion with the cylinder bed/arm machines. Picked one up used on CL Last week and it has changed my work already. Cool to see someone explain the situation so well because it all rings true to me. This is the info I wish I had. Thanks for sharing to others, Ryan. Your brand is impressive.
It’s an older Necchi 840-100 and comes with a rotating bindery attachment for binding seams on bags. Picked it up for less than $1000. I put a speed reducer and servo motor instead of the massive clutch motor it had and I’m very happy with it. I make pillows, bags, backpacks, desk pads, and other items. Get a used machine to explore to keep the entry cost low. Learn it. Then decide what sort of machine fits your needs. Most machines are very good at specific tasks. Most are not good at a wide range of tasks. It’s not like the home sewing machine, you now? We wish it was more versatile, but they’re not. However there are machines that sit in a sweet spot for doing a few different tasks. For me the Cobra 2600 or the techsew 2750 would be my next one. I want larger thickness, thread, and stitch capabilities. Best of luck!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge to the world. I am planning to buy one.I am retired now but still active. May God continue to bless you and your entire family

Thanks you much for sharing this. Invaluable. Discovered you after your session with Peter. Thanks for the video . It was awesome I have three Upholstery sewing machines and after watching your video I would like to get the one 5100SE with flat bed attachment? Very cool Thanks Ross
I really like that machine and what type of work it produces for product. Thank you so much I will be starting out with the 2700 first then move up when I start with heavy material.
This was cool. I would love to see a video discussion different attachments. Such as “strip older thing” (I don’t even know what it’s called) used for binding exposed edges.
Hmm I can sew the same thickness you are showing here with my 2700. Maybe I have been pushing it? I dont know but it does just fine even with 135 thread.
Just watched this video, very nice. Just wanted to ask you a few questions. How much does this machine cost? What does the machine come with?(accessories) How many layers of leather can it sew thru without getting bogged up? What is the maintenance on the machine when using it? Does it have a warranty and for how long? What is the thickest needle you can put on the machine with the appropriate thread? Does the machine only have 1 stitch pattern? Thanks for your help.
Contact Ron at Techsew and he can give you the best answers ... but, that 5100 is a Beast! It could very easily sew through what you are looking to do. Best to choose your machine based upon what you will be making. Industrial Machines are not like home sewing machines. Industrial Machines are designed to do one thing very well. For your Webbing ... if you are going to want Zig-Zag, the 5100 will not do that as it is a straight stitch only machine. Again ... Ron will be able to guide you to your best choices. Have a look through their selection online, through their website ... many machines for many uses. High quality for a fair price.
I make a lot of bags, but I am not currently able to afford an industrial machine. It is my dream though and I know I will get one soon. I enjoyed your video.

Dude this machine is messing with my head. That laser guide did it. Thumbs up.
Just watched this video, very nice. Just wanted to ask you a few questions.
How much does this machine cost?
What does the machine come with?(accessories)
How many layers of leather can it sew thru without getting bogged up?
What is the maintenance on the machine when using it?
Does it have a warranty and for how long?
What is the thickest needle you can put on the machine with the appropriate thread?
Does the machine only have 1 stitch pattern?
Thanks for your help.
Thanks for Sharing and Caring))
Appreciate!
Great video! I am starting to save for my 5100. Thanks for sharing. 🌸

Thank you so much for this video. Could you tell us whether it is possible to use this machine for sewing in a zipper? Thank you!

Awesome! Stoked for you!
Thank you Mister, very good !!!!!!! Chapeau!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is so incredible. Would love to use that machine. I wish I had that laser on basic sewing machine!
I actually don't use the laser much at all.
Little King Goods I’m just horrible at making straight lines but I’ve got to practice more
Duddde !! Hands down SIR !
Thank you so much for this information! Can this sew heavy denim and webbing for patio furniture? 😋

I am making boxing gloves and heavy bags using 4-5 oz leather or ripstop vinyl. I am looking at the techsew 2600 pro. does that sound right? I mean the the leather I am working is 1.5 mm thick but I will have about .5 in of EVA foam. I appreciate any feed back
Awesome video. Thank you
Hey Ryan, why did you go with a different machine? I actually purchased this TechSew because of your great review. I haven't had any issues, just wanted to know what made you move on to an Adler.
Thanks,
Joel
