everything about this game is beautiful. it is tragic though that they don't make these kinds of games anymore. I remember first time I played this I went on for 28 hours straight. games nowaday lack the soul these games had.
I was about to say that they do still make games like this but then I saw this comment was 6 years old. How have you enjoyed the recent revival of isometric CRPGs? I’ve had a great time with it. Pillars of Eternity 1 and 2, Pathfinder Kingmaker, Tyranny are all great games. And Baldurs Gate 3 is coming out eventually, along with Pathfinder Kingmaker 2.
@@yellowbeard1 Hi, thanks for comment, I've been playing a lot of Witcher 3 recently and not much of others, but i have Sekiro, red dead redemption 2, and jedi fallen order on my wish list. have a great day.
Miss this game so badly. A shame we will never have anything like it. the multiplayer of nwn1 was just endless possibilities. Get bored? Join a new persistent world server which equalled to starting a new MMO... This is for me the greatest multiplayer experience of all time. This is the greatest game of all time.
1:20 This music introduced me to the world of soundtracks! 😮 5:58 I can fell the despair in this music The story of Neverwinter Nights is above all the story of Lady Aribeth
Neverwinter nights: insane Role Play server, endless pvp powerbuilding possibility cross-class etc & the best music i have ever heard for a video game.
Musik is 40% for a good game Mass Effekt,Dragon Age, Baldurs Gate and Neverwinter Nights (all from/with Bioware) they know what make music inside a game i like it
By hearing a record from my childhood, and listen only 1 second from this 0:05. I asked "That familiar sound... Could be NWN2?" and here it is! I was right. Reinstalling just to revive my childhood! And also, I've found many good mods to make it somewhat newish. Thanks!

It's called a 'leitmotif' and I think it was popularised by Wagner in his Ring Cycle. It's actually quite common in videogame scores (and I think films, too). You can give each (main) character a leitmotif which you play (or play a variation of, depending on the situation) whenever they're there. It makes things consistent (and so less confusing for the audience/player) as well as making the actual act of composing easier (you don't have to make a new tune for every song). You can also combine leitmotifs, so you might have an "Aribeth" motif and a "Battle" motif (and then if you really wanted you could have a "dusk" motif and a "temple" motif and so on. So attentive listeners can tell pretty well exactly what's happening just from the music), so when Aribeth is fighting, you find a way to fit those two into the one song (although having every combination of character and situation and place and stuff would be way too time-consuming for a videogame, so that kind of thing is more widely used in film scores and operas and stuff). I doubt you really care that much, but, yeah. Maybe you find it interesting. If you do, here's the wiki article on Leitmotif: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leitmotif
Leitmotifs were indeed created by Wagner, but the actual idea of associating a theme with a particular character or event predates him. What Wagner did was pushing the concept to its limits. Today's movies' and games' scores are entirely based on Wagner for that matter.
Have the platinum edition that came with all 3 (Shadows of Undertide and Hordes from Underdark or something). Awesome series 100's of hours spent on the game

You can still play it. All you need to do is find servers online and some custom content. Outside of that you can still get game on Gog (dot) com.
The game is free today!
The moment I stopped playing NWN on a persistent server that is still active (Amia), the gamer in me died.

Absolutely! No matter how good game may be otherwise, only a supreme score an elevate a title to become truly unforgettable
It is the same guy that made Icewind dale and Heart of winter and Baldur's Gate Dark alliance

Awesome. One of the greatest games of all time. So many adventures. Love the soundtrack to this. Thanks for putting this up.
There's one more with a variant on the NWN theme - the endboss theme

I miss the time when i used to play Baldur's gate and Neverwinter Nights.
Noch immer der beste Soundtrack zu einem Spiel, den ich je gehört habe.
This music gets me pumped.
Huh, never realized that they reused the same notes in different songs, just at different levels of loudness, speed, or with different instruments.

+caboose202ful It also means that if you get memories from a soundtrack most of the same ones will be quite memorable.
