- This is a re-make of my very first Imperial Guard Tribute Video, using the same audio. I did this because i really wanted to create another Imperial guard tribute with that same song, its just so awesome, and to improve on my first video. I hope you enjoy! =D

The Imperial Guard
The Imperial Guard is the primary fighting force of the Imperium, so numerous in size that even the Departmento Munitorum cannot place a figure on the number of Guardsmen under arms at any one time; the daily lists of new recruits and toll of casualties can run into the millions in a single day. It would be infeasible trying to put any exact number on the strength of the Guard; however, it is believed that there must be many billions of Imperial Guardsmen, divided into millions of regiments. This absolute numeracy provides the Guard with its main power; their ability to deploy in numbers that, eventually, result in victory. Attacking in seemingly endless influxes across battle-zones, charging forth under the cover of massive barrages and delivering massed lasgun volleys, in the Guard the individual Human soldier may appear a lost thing, almost forgotten. Yet the actions of these anonymous soldiers daily decide the fate of worlds.
The Guard forms the very backbone of the Imperium; without it, Mankind would surely perish. Whilst Guardsmen are hardly the equals of Space Marines, fighting neither with the advantages of genetic enhancement or the most powerful personal weaponry, the Guard possesses the courage and the manpower to face and annihilate the enemies of the Emperor across the galaxy.

The Imperial Guard makes more heroes in a single day than the Space Marines in a single lifetime.
Space Marines make greater sacrifices. Like the Grey Knight Grand master Mandulis and the 300 others that were lost so that he could banish a chaos demon Prince for 1000 years.
Unlike you Space Marines....We need no augmentations, no advanced weaponry, no power armor, and no glory to serve the Emperor! We have all the more to lose with none of the advantages yet we face the same foes.

A large group of Tau soldiers are moving down a road when they hear a voice call from behind a small hill:
"One Imperial Guardsmen is better than ten Tau!"
The Tau commander quickly orders 10 of his best men over the hill, where upon a gun-battle breaks out and continues for a few minutes, then silence.
The voice once again calls out:
"One Guardsmen is better than one hundred Tau."
Furious, the Tau commander sends his next best 100 troops over the hill and instantly a huge gun fight commences. After 10 minutes of battle, again Silence.
The calm Guardsman voice calls out again:
"One Guarsmen is better than one thousand Tau!"
The enraged Tau commander musters 1000 fighters and sends them to the other side of the hill. Rifle fire, machine guns, grenades, rockets and cannon fire ring out as a terrible battle is fought!
Then silence. . .
Eventually one badly wounded Tau fighter crawls back over the hill and with his dying words tells his commander:
"Don't send any more men. . .it's a trap! There's two of them! . . .

I actually expected the unexpected Sly Marbo, though the first letter of the alphabet was far too underrepresented in the guardsmen's sentences.

Astartes are far away from being a shield. They may have their glory moments in important battles but it is the Guard that dies in the millions - day by day - just to keep the Imperium in its fragile state of now.

This song almost makes me want to throw my life away in glorious combat in Warhammer 40K. Given how horrible that would actually be, that's impressive.
don't worry, according to some rumor, in 7th codex edition, imperium of man start to push back their enemy and human still have hope in the 42th millenium. look's like the high lord of terra and rowboat gulliman make a good decision, despite cabal future prediction.
25 thousand years wtf? The Great Crusade was definitely not a defensive period and it was only 10 thousand years before the current timeline.

nah. 1000 Dead is a Annoyance. 2 million Dead is a victory for the guard. Can build a new Defense wall out of the bodies, Drown the Enemy in the blood. and re-use all those wonderful Flashlights.
THE PLANET BROKE BEFORE THE GUARD!
The Imperial Guard, you may doubt their competence, but NEVER doubt their bravery or courage. These guys are truly the bravest warriors I think in any medium, and can even be compared to those in real life. Emperor bless these brave men and women, and may they know peace in the Emperor's light, even as they are surrounded by horrors unimaginable, and war never-ending.

As an Ultramarine Force Commander I look to this video with pride for our battle brothers in the Imperial Guard. You guardsmen truly deserve the name "Hammer of The Emperor". And as brave guardsmen you are you will hold the line till the Angels of Death arrive.

This video is very inspiring. Especially when we think of the Imperial Guard facing down armies with infantry many times stronger than a guardsman. However even that cannot break their iron will to fight on regardless of the odds stacked against them :)

Came here right after watching the 35 years of 40k stream. In no uncertain terms:
CADIA STANDS!
This happened during a Only War roleplay session where Black Templars (played by the GM) have given the idea to the officers of the Imperial Guard to abandon the civilians of a hive world because he saw them as "unworthy and a waste of time of their habilities and resources" against Dark Eldar raiders. My character ( a Colonel-Sniper of a regiment created by me, the Gunmetallican Longbolters, a infiltration and sniper regiment) was so pissed with that that he slapped the Black Templar Captain in the face, and the rest happened as follows:
BTC:"Do you dare to raise your hands against a Servant of the Emperor?"
Me:"No, Space Marine, I dare raise my hands against a sociopath who is so full of arrogance and hubris to the point he had forgotten to what reason he is fighting for!"
BTC:"You know nothing of my of Duty, weakling!"
Me:"I cannot be a superhuman soldier, Astartes, but I know more of Duty then you could even perceive in your entire existence!"
BTC:"They are civilians! If they cannot fight for themselves they are unworthy of our help!"
Me:"So, why the Emperor had fought for the Unification of Terra? Why He fought the Great Crusade? Why created the Primarchs and Space Marines? Why He created you? Why, even today, are we fighting for? For Honor? Glory? Medals? Odes for our feats of battle? No, Astartes! We fight to protect Mankind! And when I talk of Mankind, I talk ALL OF IT! It doesn't matter if they are of the Adeptus Mechanicus, the Administratum or the Adeptus Ministorum. I dont care if they live in a Feral or Hive world. I don't give a shit if they venerate the Emperor as the Sun or as an Avenging Angel. I care nothing if they are common stock, Ogryn or Ratling. And I don't give a fuck if they are soldiers or civilians. All that I care is that they are HUMANS! And really I don't know about your Duty, but when I joined the Guard, I've made an oath to the Emperor that I would - nay, I MUST! - protect Mankind with all of my strength, and with my blood and life if necessary. If you do not care about the civilians, well, FUCK YOU! My Duty is to protect THEM, because they are the ones who make the food, bulid the weapons, vehicles and ships that the Guard, Navy and YOU use! The population of the Imperium is such that losing the population of an entire hiveworld has little impact overall, that should've been the marine's argument.
He could also have argued that it was a huge waste of time and resources, especially if there would be more important engagements elsewhere, but seeing as a freaking IG infiltration regiment(infiltration regiments? is that a thing?)managed to succesfully defend the civilians without being completely annihilated then i'm guessing the captain was a huge arrogant asshole who deemed the battle unworthy of his effort.
