You know, there was something magical about this game. In the 00' there were released most of the best games in history. I played that time great games like Rayman series, Quake, The Settlers and so on, but this was my first RPG. Like REAL RPG to the flesh. I exactly remember launching it for the first time and hearing the music from menu. This was like an invitation to the world of games. Games that aren't just a simple joy, but full-fledged pieces of art. It's so easy to get immersed when you are young, and being a little boy and hearing this masterpiece was literally like touching another world, some magic and mystic. The feeling like "this is going to be a big deal" from the first seconds. Last time I was so impressed and taken was playing Dark Souls, I've fallen in love instantly hearing music form character creation menu...
love your comment thats so true.. I too find that love in these oldschool RPGs.. but dark souls is the game I hate :D i hate that combat system and tab targeting thats why I hate that game :D
Reading your comment makes me think I belong to another generation. We pretty much have the same opinion on what you said, including the Dark Souls Part. I swear i was born in 2K but feel like my tastes belong more to someone born in the 90s
I agree with you in almost everything. but to be fair there are pretty good games rn. as you said, dark souls. And now its comming out elden ring and some other really good games. Still, I have to agree and say that overall thoses times were the times where quality/quantity of the games were the best. Just the example os PS2. The amount of games that are really good is ridiculous. PS2 has so many masterpieces! sure that ps3 and ps4 has pretty good games. but the list comparing with ps2 is small asf. what I feel is that in those times games were made with more love. and dont forget there wasnt DLC's, and devs couldnt just fix game issues with updates.
Games got too popular and now the developers/investors want to appeal to everybody. Blizzard is the perfect example of this. Blizzard only makes moderately entertaining games that anyone can enjoy for a month before forgetting about forever. They do not take risks. They don't try to test new ideas. They figure out a formula, and stick to it. And because of this, they've never made a horrible game either. They'll never make another amazing game that can rival Warcraft 3, Diablo 3, or Original WOW.
Some of the music, just makes you feel like you were in the adventure yourself. Cuts into your soul, drives you to continue and engulfs the very essence of your being. I can't discribe it any better then this.
I know man. From this theme, to Ammon Jerro's theme to the King of Shadows theme. It's just great. It really felt like this incredible journey because of the music. I love Neverwinter nights 2 and it will always be my favorite rpg.

This song brings back soooooo many good times. I remember it well. I would shut my door then launch the game. Smoke a bowl. Feel the cool summer evening breeze come through my window as I sit waiting for the game to load up. Spent hours in a fantasy world with not one worry about this real one. It's the best!
I remember when i first started NW2 and at first heared that music i wasn't be able to start the game i wish to listen that music again and again becouse of magic atmosphere of this sound and my first impact by that music
This is the most awesome RPG ever. And it's sad that everybody is comparing it to other games. I grew up with NWN, and it has always been in my heart and it will always be. It's the most awesome RPG I have ever played. I never deleted NWN from my computer. And I never will. I play it. And I always will. I remember the first day I got NWN. Memories. ^_^
The thing that I loved most about Neverwinter Nights is that even though you really don't do much in the combat, but the animations are so nicely done and actually put detail into the combat instead of "BLOCK, SLASH, BLOCK" that it's interesting to watch, and makes you proud of your character. Bring back these glory days of old, BioWare!
I remember around 14 years ago when I was young my friend got this game cause it was D&D stuff and we freakin loved it, I saw him play and it was a blast. after a while I asked if he could borrow me the game. But sadly my pc was too weak and couldn't run it. So the only thing that really got to experience for myself was that black installation window with the logo for the game and this music playing on the background. Now saw that GOG has the complete edition with DLCs and all, while there's nowhere else to play the game. Thanks GOG, I going on an adventure.
i played lots of games but NWN 2 is something special...i played it and finish it like 5 times and i never get bored...i will play it again for sure...

So take some consideration with what you say. For what is available in Neverwinter Nights 2, it is far more than you would ever expect from a developer faced with a similar situation.
I think they're referring more to the Baldur's Gate series than just the first game itself. They're all sort of chapters of one story that really hits it's peak in the second game.
@mozey94 Oh yeh right 100% agree on that! The Witcher is of course is in my top list also. I just ment the RPG's where you commend a whole team not a single character. But the story and background of the Witcher series and univers is one of my favourites. ( Dragon Age also noticed that, and they bring back the medieval Europe and today's problems in a fantasy cliche like never before....)
In the original NWN, I agree. Expansions though I felt differently about, to be specific Deekin. I thought he was a fantastic character (and that one tiefling in Hordes of the Underdark was pretty hot too >_> )
We need Neverwinter Nights 3
Yeah! I really miss playing as magic user character such as wizard, sorcerer and cleric. I love the classification of magic in this game.

3 people wanted to fall in love with Neeshka instead T.T
The 2 people who disliked this failed to find the four waterdhavian creatures. God help them.
NWN1 is amazing and will go down in history..
Can't say the same for the 2nd tho..
NWN 1 and NWN 2 are the best RPG's ever made.
In the original NWN, I agree. Expansions though I felt differently about, to be specific Deekin. I thought he was a fantastic character (and that one tiefling in Hordes of the Underdark was pretty hot too >_> )
ahh goosebumps gooose bumps!!!
I am still playing this :D
