Sean I want to thank you for posting this video. You gave me the confidence to paint my recently acquired EVGA xc3 3080......my build is now finally completed and everything looks great 👍
I'm going to be painting my ASUS Tuf 3080 tomorrow. Before this 3080 I had a 2070 Super that i painted. Right now I'm actively arguing with a guy on reddit, he vehemently argues that the backplate on a 3080 gets too hot and the paint will peel off so I'm partly painting mine just to prove him wrong.
That individual has never heard of high heat spray paint.
@@javakitsune yep and that's exactly what i used. I used Rust-oleum White High Heat. It worked great, no negative impact on temps and looked great.

@@DoovidE I got rid of the 3080 about 6 months ago and switched to a 4070ti. The time I did have it though the paint held up. i used the same paint that i used on my 2070 super which was just regular Krylon spray paint on the fan shroud and then I used krylon high heat spray paint on the backplate. I ended up painting the backplate a few weeks after the shroud so i just masked off the rest of the gpu and left the backplate on when i painted it. I did 3 coats on the shroud and 2 coats on the backplate.

Awesome video. All steps explained really clearly. I want to give this a go for my white build. I've sent a request to EVGA to see if the RMA department have any spare shrouds in stock as I'm too chicken to try it on my actual one lol.

@@Vapoor_ EVGA said they couldn’t send out spare shrouds. I even offered to pay for it but they said they couldn’t. So I have left it as it is for now.

I did this with my 3090 in the end, worked perfectly. Thanks a lot for the tutorial, I painted the shroud as well and it looks awesome.

i really like white hardware, but doing this, gets rid of all the accents the backplate has and makes it plane. its a matter of taste, i like white, but i would want to keep all the accents of the backplate. this now looks sleek, but borin

Im doing this soon for my all white build. I have a r7 7900x that i got for $170 but im not building that until the new motherboards come out.
I have the same card rtx 3090 EVGA ftw3, recently picked up the antec c5, i7 10700kf for $20 working, z590 gigabyte vision g white motherboard for $80, Corsair white ram for free ish, I have a Corsair 850x watt PSU but I'm selling it sadly in a build already so I don't wanna mess with it. Got another black PSU 850w and will just get extension cables, id cooling new led screen aio, and maybe that white GPU sag bracket. The bottleneck is crazy for now but I have a spare rtx 3070 so I'll paint it soon too and when I have the am5 build going I'll move over the 3090 there.

I ran to a similar problem. As I currently purchased a good deal on a 6800xt GPU. While CPU shortages starting to come down on price. My PC is black and white mostly white but. My GPU is all black. Which is kind of upsetting. so I'm going to paint the shroud White and leave the backplate black.

how'd it go especially with painting the fans? It's generally no recommended to paint fans since it can throw off the balance of the blades, that is why when I painted my 2070 Super a few years ago I just painted the backplate and fan shroud.
This is crazy, I got both the same case and the same memory, so this was a nice preview of what my rig would look like if I DIY'ed my GPU backplate haha. Cool video!

Thanks! So far, no chipping or color changes, and it runs just the same as before.
I painted my gpu in 2020 with a double layer of acrylic paint and it never chipped either, so spray paint should do way better

FYI it does you guys should use a credit card or like some paper to catch the last one. It’s a little tough to get it back on.

This came out great! I'm definitely going to do this on my next card. The Enamel tip was something I hadn't considered, so you probably helped me dodge a bullet with that.
"Best to paint when it's under 50% humidity." Flash back to when I painted the cross member of my car outside in the fog with everything dewing up Halloween night a few years back and that paint is still holding strong today 🤣 on a real note don't do the above as I explained because the majority of results aren't good
yeah I painted a couple parts for my bike a few weeks ago and the humidity was around 85%, it did not go well the paint didn't adhere to the parts at all and the next day i ended up just wiping the paint off.

Amazing, ever though about painting the AIO
I don’t know if I would paint an AIO, the paint could mess with heat dissipation on the radiator, and if you paint the tubes, the paint might crack and peel when you bend them.

The warranty wording says it would void it, but I have read comments online of people who sent in a painted RMA and they covered it.

Unofficially Evga said as long as the serial # can still be displayed.
@@TechWithSean In the US, they would have to proof that the thing you did caused the issue to which are you RMAing. Now, does average rep know that? They don't act like it. But the legislation and regulations are beyond clear.
That doesn't mean you may or may not have to 'fight them', but if you don't know your rights, then you could easily get stepped on.
