    I actually bought a T248, got it out of the box, and was actually shocked at how cheap and light and small it was. it felt 10 times cheaper than any logitech wheel, like a kids toy wrapped in a $400 price tag. i immediately returned it and got the fanatec gt dd pro. if your going $400 deep, just spend the extra money and get a fanatec.

      I agree fully, i couldnt believe how loght and cheap it felt. Ffb is actually pretty good but just feels like a toy compared to my old t300. I recomended it to my grandpa over a logitech since he was curious about sim racing after seeing all my stuff come in and I kind of wish I would have pushed him towards a t300 but he got it for only 269 on black friday so for that price and the quality of the ffb I think it was worth it over the g923/g29. The t300 is by far better imo. The t300 was good for what it was and I'm on a dd1 now.

      I try to cover everything mate, but it's hard as the lower end of the market doesn't really change much, Logitech for example have has the same wheel (pretty much) for the last 10 years! lol
      But yes the T300 is a good middle ground wheel.

    I started iracing December 2021, with my old Microsoft wheel with resistance but no real force feedback. I bought this t248 wheel, was a huge step up from what I had. Now, yes it is plastic and I’m sure those much more expensive wheels are higher quality but, pretty much every series I race on iracing, i am always competitive as well as able to win races . Is it always so necessary to find the most expensive products for a fun experience. I respect your review but I’ve also seen reviews saying the exact opposite opinion towards Logitech. Great video keep up the good work!

      "Is it always so necessary to find the most expensive products for a fun experience" no mate it's not, see last nights review of the PXN V9 as a good example of this! :)
      Thats how opinions work, we are all different and all like and prefer different things, but for the price this offers nothing over the Logitech and thats the real issue.

      @@KarlGosling without the ability to actually try a specific wheel before buying it’s hard to know what to buy. When I bought this wheel, the reviews I watched all leaned towards it and away from the g29.
      Maybe I’m missing something I’m just not aware of with these wheels.
      But in the grand scheme of it all for me, the T248 wheel is serving me well. And sim racing isn’t my life so I wasn’t about to overspend.
      Again, great video, keep it up! Mate!

      @@KarlGosling talking abt that, the PXN is my highest concentration which the FFB wheel PXN V10 at my place offers a slight,slight, lower price than g29 but includes a H shifter for that price. At the same time it might not be a game change for someone who uses dd wheels(not to be offense), but it has 3.2nm torque compared with g29's 2.2nm. What i've seen in most reviews are the pxn v10 is over the g29 in all aspects just not for the tuning(the ffb vibration is like crazy in default). It is so much attractive just by a quicl search amd looking at the features, metal plate, 4 pedal shifters, all 3 hall and adjustable spring foot pedals, just not for the swade cover finishing on the wheel but come on its great enough to give me so much imaginations. I tried my best to make it short but dint work well, if dear Karl did read through this and giv a respond i'd be over the moon. And really, really hoping for a review, tqvm.(in some countries it sells alot more than my place Malaysia like a Korean review bought it at 300usd which brings it's great value to nothing, hope that domt happen so the review might come through)

I can pick up the G920 for £170 from Amazon but worried about the noise complaints I’ve read with Logitech wheels but also not convinced by the TMX or T248 from your reviews. Do u use on PS4/5? If so and you play dirt 2.0 care to share wheel settings? I can’t get mine to work on most racers and dirt 2.0 is 1 of them. Wheel is sluggish, don’t respond properly and can’t turn. I’d love to jump in but it just won’t work. Can only get dirt rally and dirt 4 to work perfectly but I’m getting bored. I really want to jump back in to driveclub but I know that I’ll be pissed if the wheel won’t work because I loved that game.

      @@grahamkelly8662 Logitech G29 is an older wheel. Its pretty reliable and good across a good numberof games. Some games don't support a wheel at all just because of how old they are. Gran turismo you have to start a time trial or race. Pause. Options Controller setting. Advanced I think. You want ff settings. Controller sensitivity does nothing on the wheel. Ff is what you want. I run mine at 5 and 8. Has a good feel for me on both wheels. You can go up and down as you need.

      @@a92gsxdsm hi, No, I’ve not plugged g29 into pc or laptop. I simply plugged into usb at back of Ps5 . I don’t have pc/laptop, right now but I could borrow 1. Main reason I didn’t try updating firmware etc is because on UA-cam most people say that changing wheel settings, in g hub will only remain, if you play on pc and if you play on PS4/5 then no matter what you change, it won’t carry over. I can’t remember if or what settings, I changed for dirt 4 but it works flawlessly. I actually called Logitech support for help to get Dirt Rally working. The guy helped me but it was a long tedious phone call and I have extremely bad tinnitus and partially deaf. So the thought of going through the awkwardness again, puts me off, calling. Did you by any chance, plug in and try play with g29, right away, without lowering forcefeedback? I did and had shock of my life when race started. I really don’t understand why forcefeedback is automatically set to 100% on all settings. Oh, I’m planning on upgrading to Fanatec and I’ll hopefully have enough saved , by Christmas, to buy direct drive wheel base, preferably the gt version that you just bought , the clubsport f1 wheel, clubsport pedals. All these items are in stock now, apart from gt dd wheel base, but that is on pre order. My question is, do Fanatec always restock there products, regularly, when they are sold out? If so, is it possible to wait more then 6months for restock? I honestly could even wait until this time Next Year, to start buying Fanatec gear and the wait would be exciting but I’ll be gutted if I have money for the wheel base, wheel, pedals, come Christmas and they don’t have any stock. Oh, 1 more thing. I’m new to sim racing and am unsure if I should get direct drive wheel base with 5Nm or 8Nm. Right j now, I don’t particularly like high forcefeedback. With that in mind, do you think the cheaper 5Nm wheel base, is best for me? And am I right in thinking that if I did buy the 8Nm gt wheel base, i will receive a 5Nm wheel base and a bigger power supply boost kit? Or would I literally receive an 8Nm wheelbase? I mean the 8Nm gt is on pre order but it about €700 and as I feel 5Nm will be fine, it’s about half price , just makes sense to go with 5Nm. Saying that the 5Nm isn’t in stock or available to pre order.

    You actually raised an interesting piece of data when reading the power/amperage of the power brick: the g29 is in comparison starving its motors with a 1.5A, we all had great success upgrading to a 5/6/8A power supply which made the force feedback less « dampened » and more reactive/stronger.
    The 248 uses a very similar setup but has that little bit more of power that should have given it a little edge on the G29… but it’s really barely noticeable compared to the upgrade to 5A

(G29 had the usual flimsy wire inside the wheel deciding it never wanted to be attached), The g29 brake was awful (in my opinion of course). I'm not a huge gamer, so I just learned how ignorant of this stuff I really am. This is my first force feedback wheel, so I had no idea what to look for. I figured that at $400 USD retail it must be decent. After I bought it I found that it's "entry level". Wow! That seems like a lot of money for anything entry level to me. Personally I’d spend a little extra and get a t300. Feels better being belt driven and is just a nicer wheel to use. Also the quick release (not really that quick though), allows you to use other rims such as the formula rim. I upgraded Logitech dfgt to t300 and was a nice upgrade but then went up to fanatec csl dd and v3 pedals which is a whole new level. But, for an entry level but still decent wheel the t300 is a great choice. I also think the t300 looks better than the t248 but that’s just me.

I live in canada so after import fees, shipping and conversions, it comes to $1300 CAD for just the base wheel and pedals. Or i can get the TGT2 for $1400 total with the clutch and gearbox. Or the logitech for $350 - $600, with everything, depending on what model i get. The thing that gets me about the fanatec is how expensive that gear box is. I wish they offered a cheap version and i cant use the cheap logitech one cause i play on playstation.

      @@MrMoose-mf1oy it depends how serious you take sim racing and how often you’ll use it. For me, I do iracing and I go on it several hours a day usually. I started out on a Logitech and it was good but the fanatec stuff is a whole new level. If you’ve never used a wheel before or are new to sim racing then it might be best to start out on a cheaper Logitech and see how you get on. If you’re confident you’ll stick with it then the fanatec is worth the money. The one thing I noticed the biggest difference in is when I upgraded my pedals from thrustmaster t3pa to fanatec V3 with the load cell brake. That’s the thing that has made the biggest difference. I wouldn’t go with the thrustmaster to be honest, for the price difference the fanatec is worth spending a little extra for over the tgt2

    Sorry...but the guy in the video never actually used a Logitech wheel....maybe used it for some video reviews but didn't have to stick to it for sure! I noticed that when he said that the potentiometers from logitech are ok and they last for 10 years LOL....I had a G27, the potentiometer from the brakes was gone after 2 years, I took the potentiometer from the clutch since I wasn't using it and replaced the one from the brakes....after another couple of years the gas pedal started to work by its own during the turns...yes...it was the potentiometer again....in less than 5 five years 2 of them were gone and there was no cleaning capable to bring them back.
    It's a well known problem from logitech pedals...so yes, the T3PM not using it is a HUGE thing
    another important thing to add here is, the pedals from G25, G27 and G29 are all the same, the only one that has a "mechanism" to make it progressive is the new G923, and the "mechanism" is just a piece of rubber inserted in the brake spring....and they will charge you +$200 dollars for this massive upgrade...
    T248 has stronger FFB, better and more reliable pedals, it's hybrid with engine and belt system which should be superior to gears only in theory at least.
    I understand people may have different views...but this review is just poor in quality of information

    I just took delivery of the Thrustmaster Pendulum Rudder pedals, you know, the ones which cost $600! It's amazing they can make something that solid and high quality for flight, but they cannot make a decent set of racing pedals. When I built my race rig last month I went with all Thrustmaster parts, except the pedals. I had to go with Fanatec Clubsport V3 pedals, since Thrustmaster doesn't have anything close to that tier of quality in their catalog.

  • @gsam_dad5540

    This is interesting: the lighter the unit the more relatively powerful the feedback, especially with a small motor, so it's questionable to predicate most of the criticism on the fact that the materials are lightweight (plastic rather than metal) when it's being done to keep down costs while maximising the available FFB, which to me is pretty good marketing & design; the fact that this unit has an LED panel integrated in the wheel, which is lauded to the nines on Fanatec offerings, & hall sensors in the pedals gives it a considerable advantage over its competitors from Logitech (which by the way I think are good value in their own right) but has been pretty much ignored here. I like Karl's reviews but this one just seems like a case of he just doesn't like it, which is of course fine, but the willful omission of many of this wheel's most marketable features is a little bit damning on the reviewer rather than the manufacturer. I have had both this & the G920 & the metal core of the G920's wheel is a minor plus against TM's much more responsive, lightweight (yes it isn't a flimsy toy) offering which I think is pretty decent for the money really. The pedals are good for the price & are pretty easy to build muscle memory with so repetition bakes in & you get more lap time consistency. For me this review misses the mark entirely but it's an anomaly, Karl's offerings are usually spot on :)

    • @KarlGosling
      @KarlGosling  2 роки тому +1

      As you say reviews are always opinion and experienced based so will not always agree with one another, for me this wheel and pedals are just not very good for the price, if they were cheaper it would be a different story.... £300 vs £180.
      "it's being done to keep down costs while maximising the available FFB" I think it's probably being done to keep costs down and maximise profit rather than FFB and of course the cost is not down, it's almost double that of the Logitech... at least these are my thoughts.

    t300 is only 100€ more, but doesn't have much stronger ffb, and has worse pedals even if just little.

    I just want to say I see so many comments comparing this to the T300 and saying the T300 is better. Well, yeah, no shit. This isn't competing against the T300. It's competing against the Logitech G29/G920/G923. In my opinion, the Logitech wheels feel like toys compared to the T248 when it comes to force feedback. People saying the T248 feels too light and feels like a toy makes no sense because when it's clamped to a desk or hard mounted you don't feel the weight of the actual wheel. But the T248 is more powerful than the Logitech wheels in actual use.

  • @robertcarr4172
    @robertcarr4172 2 роки тому +1

    So I guess I'm just curious. Iv had recently a g29 , a TX, and tmx.
    For me the tx is a huge step up from the Logitech. I found my tmx to be the same strength wise to the G29. The g29 of course feels nicer wrapped in leather. But the actual motion of it is an awful cogging mess. The Tmx feels like a children's toy in your hand. Absolutely terrible. But the base for me feels smoother.
    Now the T248 is supposed to be 70% more powerful than the t150/tmx , which has around the same 2nm of torque that the Logitech has. So I'm very surprised that you say the t248 feels the same strength wise as the Logitech.
    Pedals wise, I have always preferred the t3pas over the logitechs (which aside from the pedals being far too close to each other, just feel cheap and nasty) so I was hoping these t3pms would be a decent replacement to the t3pa.

    • @KarlGosling
      @KarlGosling  2 роки тому +1

      TX is by far the best wheel out of all of those.
      T248 feels no stronger to me, we have no idea where TM take their measurement of torque from and gearing will make how it feels at the wheel very different!
      Pedals are kind of personal preference but the T3PA's have always been the worst of the bunch IMO.
      T3PM's are ok but not as smooth as the Logitech ones.
