      Take a strand of your hair and put it in a cup of water if the strand stays on top it is low porosity, if it is in the middle it is neutral porosity, and if it sinks to the bottom it is high porosity

    Questions for the video and my low porosity hair.
    1. After you apply leave in conditioner do you put lightweight oil in your hair to deal in moisture?
    2. If you have is still wat after the process should you sleep with a satin bonnet or plastic shower cap.
    3. How long does the moisture last and when is the next time i should do it again?

    • @SherreseNana
      @SherreseNana  Рік тому +1

      1. Yeah, lightweight oil for low porosity, if you’re high porosity then use one that is more thicker in consistency.
      2. It’s hard sleeping with wet hair. If you use shower cap it most likely won’t really dry during the night as the moisture will be trapped. But to prevent your pillow from getting wet.. that would be the best option. Your wet hair will go thru the bonnet onto your pillow which kind of defeats the purpose. Depends how wet your hair is.. I’d it’s soaking wet, or damp or almost dried but yeah best option is a show cap. It is also good since your hair is covered, the moisture has no where else to go but to your hair strands, which you can technically say is a moisturizing treatment!
      3. It’s different for everyone, the best time to reapply leave in conditioner is BEFORE your hair starts to feels dry. I’d recommend starting with remoisturize every 3 days and see how that works for your hair and reevaluate if you need to wait longer or shorter. If you feel your hair is dry then try every 2 days, if it’s moisturized then try 4 days.. etc. you just have to figure out how long moisture lasts specifically for your hair. If you’re talking about deep conditioning though, I’d recommend once a week. Hope that helps! 👊🏼👊🏽

    Lol I don’t use heat in my hair at all the key to allowing the deep conditioning to get in the hair without heat is leaving it on longer for in the bag I sometimes do 24hours and it holds on me and my girls hair. I then oil the ends of our hair and the scalp and mousturize the grease into the hair and wrap it up while it’s still wet and let it dry naturally. All my girls hair is healthy strong and moisturized.

      Number 1.Stop looking at your hair all the time
      2.take picture now and look back at it in 4 months you'll se how far you've come.
      3. Don't try too much too quick you'll end up disappointed, wait till your hair is the right length.
      4. Keep it simple you don't need all these products in th 60s an 70s people didn't have all those options but there hair still grew.
      5. Do what you think is good for your hair if you feel like what others tell you isn't working.
      [|Sorry that this is so long.|]
      6. Sometimes you wil have bad hair days these youtubers make peopole think that there hair is perfect all the time or that styles stay for 2 weeks (trust me it's not true).
      7. Sometimes your hair needs to be left alone for 1 or 2 weeks as it can get exhausted even if it's dead.
      8. Hair is not alive it's dead .
      9. Comb your hair at least 4 times a week as tangles are not fun and makes peopole think it's their hair while it's just that they dont comb it.
      10. Buy a bonnet it helps, as a guy trust me.
      And the final one, be prepared mentally.

    Do low porosity hair get washed out with cold water?

    • @SherreseNana
      @SherreseNana  4 роки тому +2

      No low porosity doesn’t need to get rinsed out with cold water (despite what a lot of UA-camrs or google says) because the cuticles already close very easily and tightly on their own. Your goal is to try to keep them open after you shower for when you apply your other products (leave in/moisturizers) so you will want to rinse with warm water and quickly apply your products right after when ur hair is wet. You can even apply your products right in the shower after you have rinsed if u want. Naturally your cuticles will close up after and usually moisture doesn’t escape easily but if you are concerned about that, after you apply your leave in/moisturizing products you can take a spray bottle and spray your hair a little with cold water to help seal everything in quickly, but cold water should be the very last step for low porosity hair. If it’s not, in my opinion I feel it defeats the whole purpose and none of your leave in/moisturizers will give you any moisture.
      But if you did a really good deep conditioner and you feel theres a lot of moisture in your hair already and you plan to only put a styling product on your hair then you can rinse it with cold water if you want. But throughout the week u may end up needing to wet hair with warm water and apply leave in/moisturizers to give more moisture to ur hair anyways. Up to you, see what works best for your hair!

      Sherrese & Nana Thank you 😊 and, yesterday was my very first time doing a deep conditioning which I rinsed it out with cold water because I thought right when you get the it in you want to close up your cuticles!!!! And, do we use the blow dryer the entire time or just for a min to open the cuticles?

    How to determine your hair porosity

    • @stephanieanokye7561
      @stephanieanokye7561 4 роки тому +1

      You can do the hair strand test. You can take a hair from your comb and place it in a cup of water. Make sure you do not shake the cup else it can tamper with what your porosity actually is. To know what you hair porosity is youcan see when it stays and the top of the water it is low porosity. If it is in the middle it is normal porosity and if it sinks to the bottom it is high porosity.

    • @SherreseNana
      @SherreseNana  4 роки тому

      Do you know your porosity? What deep conditioner are you using? And do you mean your scalp flakes? Or all over? Flaking could happen either because your using a product that isn’t working for you hair and is just sitting on top rather than penetrating your hair. Reason I didn’t address your question in the video is because you have to make sure your using the right product for your hair first. If you are and it’s still flaking then you have to take a look at your routine/technique of how you are deep conditioning.

      I"ve heard really good reviews about this line. It brings back moisture in your hair. I'm a girl and I've used their leave in conditioner from the line and I loved it. I also have low porosity hair. I recommend this line especially the necessities like shampoo, conditioner, and deep conditioner. I would also highly recommend their manuka honey and mafura oil line especially the deep conditioner because it is so thick.
