- A tent city for homeless people in Buckhead has been the scene of several fires over time. Now, the encampment is slated to be shut down and cleared out Thursday. It's part of City Hall's promise to nearby residents who lease upscale apartments in the area and have complained.

Why should homeless receive free hotel rooms with microwaves ?
Because it’s not effecting you
Quick breakdown of cost on average $40-$50,000 in extra services a year and a hotel room is probably about 12 to 15 K so you do the math😀

I’ve watched this city in my 60 years go from one of the greatest places on earth to a soul-sucking hell hole from the ghettos to the suburbs. Yankees and corporate America have ruined the demographics of this city, and there’s not one interesting person left in Atlanta. 💩

Back when it was a better world, the homeless were not so enabled that they stayed homeless for the rest of their lives. They used to have reasons to fix their lives, and most did. Now they're being enabled, and they're getting stuck living on the streets.
Every democrat run city is looking the same!
Round 'em up, shove them on farms and tell them to work. If they don't work there are housing facilities that they can be locked up in nicely. Three hots and a cot, and nothing more.
Maricopa county had the right of it, should adopt that approach nation wide.

Have to remove the trash they threw eveywhere as rats and bugs take over. Why are they so lazy they cant walk 3 feet to dispose of trash in containers? Usually they are soon evicted from free housing which they dont want, want hotels so others have to clean up after them.

Hope for what? More drugs? Because the vast majority of homeless are drug addicts. Hell, that's why they're homeless in the first place. Drug addicts get kicked out of their homes for a variety of reasons, e.g., stealing from their families and friends, being behind on rent, causing disturbances, destroying property, setting fires, assault, can't work because they're always high, etc.

If my taxes have to pay for their food and bed I'd rather it be in jail. Just putting them in a hotel will do nothing. They will set fires there too.

The homeless advocate wants them to be put up in hotels instead of shelters. What makes her think they won't set their rooms on fire? At least shelters are in large open rooms where staff can more easily check for fires.
I was homeless before, & put into a hotel. I was working, & this helped me so much. Everyone that is out there that is homeless is not a bad person. Every homeless person does not do drug, or commit crimes. Every homeless person does not have a criminal record. It is understood that some people out there want to be out there, & simply just don't care. Many have given up on life. There are just as many people out there that are willing to help themselves as well with a little bit of assistance. We are here to love, & help one another. Yes it costs money. So what??? America sends so much money helping other countries. Taxpayers Money. America spends so much money on unnecessary things. Taxpayers Money. It doesn't really matter because at the end of the day when we leave this world you cannot take any of that money with you so why not help the people in America???

Go to California it’s a sanctuary state they give homeless people free housing, food and jobs.
I'm from the Atlanta area and if it ever came to the situation of no longer having a roof over my head...L'd buy me an one-way Greyhound bus ticket to San Diego! Being homeless anywhere is hell but San Diego has a year long spring like climate and as you mentioned California has a lot of social services too!!!

I remember back in the late 1980's I became homeless (Very Much My Fault) and at night I would try and find a place to sleep and the police would come and kick me out at 3 or 4 in the morning!!
The police kept up on me and I would get so mad I can't even remember what I might have said to them.

The current camper's are complaining about having to move into a good shelter and get help for whatever is affecting them.
I'm All for money being set aside for drug and mental health services!!
The one's that take the service's great and the one's who don't we can find a piece of land,throw in some porta potties,tent's and a food pantry,then the homeless can live there for as long as they want.
Once a week send in the Social Worker's and ask if anyone living there if they still want help then provide care as soon as possible.
