Right after I posted this video I saw this on one of my local groups: "Warning - last week there was a post about duct cleaning. I pm’d the author then when the author finally told me the name of the company I checked it on BBB. Yikes! I nicely told her via pm that i would move need the services. Now she wont leave me alone - i had to block her every way i could and reported her to FB - Long story short - be very careful contacting any “company “ that doesn’t put company name and info in post. I knew better and still got myself in trouble"
it's been about as bad as myspace was in the 2000s for almost a decade now. But, most recently. It stopped functioning too. Remember when myspaces website wouldnt actually load for like 30 seconds. yeh, and theres buttons that dont press. I duno if its my gpu but youtube has been flickery too. ive been on a computer since the 90s so i can see the programming errors. but, i should probably do my part and upgrade soon.
I get the duct cleaning phone calls all the time. I let them complete the long involved speech and interject occasionally with some basic, generic questions. When they're done, I just reply that I don't have any ducks but I have 2 chickens and 3 geese and can they clean them for the same price. Usually I just get some south Asian accented swearing before the final click in my ear. Oh well...
@@danwipper I used to be a window cleaner and this one time the boss said when we get there we need to clean the ducts too. And we literally had no idea what he was talking about. When we got there it was just us window cleaners except like 2 more than they usually send out to the location. And for real, like they just walked around with dusters acting busy I am sure it wasn't anything professional it was like 200 extra dollars. lol
I Run a Facebook swap, And I go round all the cesspool swaps and get keywords from all the scam postings and add them to my admin assist. If an when a post is created matching those keywords their the post gets deleted and they get banned from the group. One example of a keyword would be "tend to your kids (or pets),". Something matching those keywords would be from a work from home scam.
Facebook makes accounts themselves! They go through directories and create accounts for businesses and organizations who never sought to create accounts... at least they did a few years ago!
Wrong. It’s the best in the world they have a concierge 24 hour gold glove service that comes over with a white glove, rather not a gold glove and then goes ahead and does whatever you ask.
I don't understand your point. Facebook doesn't force anyone to be on their platform. If for example you have an account with FB and you get scammed, that's really on you and not on FB. It would be an exchange between you and your scammer. So how does the owner of a platform with billions of users be accountable for everything that happens to every single one of their users?
@TheReturnOfJMVEntertainment I signed up briefly over the summer to user the marketplace when I was selling my car. Immediately bombarded by scammer trolls wanting me to pay for a vehicle report on their clearly fake bs vehicle report site. So, I reported them. Then one of them swiped my profile photo of my vehicle, reported my account and I got put in time out for 180 days. I hope they go bankrupt for all their corrupted nonsense. I'm creating my own paid social community. I think that's where this is all headed. Groups leaving fb and starting their own indie communities for profit. They're actively growing. Once it crosses over in the next year or so where the collective masses are abandoning social network platforms for private paid communities, that's when the fall cometh lol.
Facebook does nothing about scams and criminal activities but if you call someone a "poop head" in a comment you end up in jail for violating "Community Standards".
Totally, this is why I stopped interacting with any posts on FB. They also hide certain replies and if you're on the wrongthinker list then your comments almost always get hidden, so it makes pretty much any discussions utterly pointless. Great way to encourage users to NOT engage with your platform
@@MaTtRoSiTy UA-cam does the same thing. Their algorithms are set up to insta-delete comments which in no way violate their "community guidelines" but state opinions and even facts they don't like. and they also hide comments from public view. Myself and some others have been tracking and logging instances for a long time, and that data has been being shared with members of Congress, and being compiled. And there are many other groups who've been doing the same.
As a retired photographer I deleted my Facebook back in 2009 after reading the terms of service (painfully) and realizing they will take ownership of any photos you post personal or professional and can sell them to anyone and everyone.
Yep!!!! A few years ago, I found my "deleted" account was turned into a bot account after being off the platform for quite some time. I wish I never signed up years ago!
I was on it back when it was just starting to get widely popular, but way before they took over the social media world and had literally billions of users. Fake names were the norm back then, just like on most web sites that had accounts for chatting or forums or whatever, you didn't use your real name, you just made something up, like here on UA-cam even now. I deleted my account and left when they first started requiring personal information to have an account. They only required a phone number or email or maybe both, I don't remember. But even that was a big "no thanks" for me, I didn't really use it that much anyway.
Facebook has tyrannical ban rules. Adults don't need supervision. If you sneeze at someone hard enough facebook bans you for months. People can curse each other without crying to mommy. The only thing should be banned is criminal activity. Fake accounts/scams/pornography.
As an Italian, I honestly feel so ashamed on behalf of these jobless scammers, cheating people for their hard earned money. And when they're targeted, look how easily they gaslight the victim and start abusing. I hope all your page reach as many people as it can and teach them not to pick up calls from unknown scam phone numbers in the first place, so that they're safe and don't get scammed. You do a great service to everyone here in the Italy taking out these lowlifes. Keep up the amazing work Adrian notch , You Are one of a kind.
Really annoys me how FB will ban or suspend your account for slight language infringements but allow obvious criminal scammers to advertise in their paid advertising.🤬🤬
Yup, recently reported someone selling stolen credit cards and I called them a c%nt! I got a 48 hour ban for swearing the scammer got left alone. Go figure..
Like You tube is any different...lesson is don't trust your life on the web keep your privacy on guard and deal with real life people instead of online people
@@pauobunyon9791 I’ve not noticed it on UA-cam nearly as bad. Facebook actually allows scammers to give them money so they can advertise directly to your feed. Where as UA-cam can only send you replies to comments.

very true, I never buy anything that they recommend or link to, money is too tight to be spent on anything else but food, so many of us are struggling just to survive.
@@levelintent I got scammed from a FB ad for candles. 60.00 and a You Tube ad for a winter coat 120.00. I do not buy from ads anymore. I reported them and still see their ads. Never got my money back. I only buy now from the sites of the actual companies and Corps and if I dont know the name or some foreign fake company that have no contact but E Mail. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
the only ads on FB and YT that I would believe are real would be from Wendy’s or McDonald’s etc. and even then I still wouldn’t trust what they’re advertising without personally visiting the restaurant and inquiring if the ad was real.
I was in 2010-2015 but thankfully found better things to do but was spending hours on it getting into dramas. I finally realized it was destroying my mental health. I hope to delete it entirely in 2024. I like FB Messenger and the birthday reminder. My page is private. I stopped posting to fb entirely in 2020 and the data mining alone is disgusting.

I also left FB 4 years ago and terminated and deleted everything there. I am sorry that my family and friends still use them as they see what they believe to be benefits. To me, I got my life back. More time with real people, more time with nature and more time for self.
i terminated my fb account 3 years ago, only for facebook to open it back up and link it to my instagram. when i had my friend shut it down, facebook opened it back up and even changed my password so i wouldnt be able to shut it down again.
Great work. I quit Facebook this morning and you hit all the points on why I did. I was spending more time blocking, reporting and deleting than I was reading any of my friends' posts. I got cloned multiple times and my more well known friends had a T-shirt scam cloning them and ripping people off in their name. Work, work, work and facing the danger of someone ripping you off or getting hooked on to you like a stalker. Cesspool is just about right. The further away I get the better at this point.
I love how Facebook auto scans memes i upload and misinterprets them, resulting in "strikes" against me. But they refuse to do anything about actual crime.
I've reported literal death threats I've seen users make towards other users on FB, and their useless "support" wouldn't remove the posts. FB is a joke. I left the platform in 2020.
Great and informative video. Also loving the nostalgia in the background. One of the things I didn't hear mentioned was the fact that the Facebook accounts overseas have been able to "lock" their profile picture for several years where as users based in North America don't have that ability. This is where you are unable to clock on a larger size of your profile picture and a hover button pops up and tells you the profile picture is locked.
I left Facebook six months ago and don't miss it one bit. Cesspool is right. It's become so convoluted with bullshit that it's just not worth it. My mentality is better without it.
I was flagged unrecommendable for posting truth and nobody could see any post unless they came to my profile and scrolled my timeline. Obviously not many are going to do that so I left it. Lost track of how long ago that was.
That's really good for you also had that Facebook account there but quit last month and deleted my parts there also looked into other videos about people quitting and deleting that life not just this but any other social media may want to look into that and tell others about it.
I left FB 5 years ago and I haven't regretted it since. I do check my account from time to time to see any real people are messaging me but for the most part, my account is dead.
I lost count of how many Scammers I have reported to FAKE Book and they refuse to remove Profiles that are very obviously Fake. I think legal action should be taken by the State Attorney Generals to criminally charge and also file Civil Suits against Facebook. There's a Large META Data center very close to where I grew up in Utah and I'm going to urge the Authorities in Utah to take any all appropriate legal action.
I tried the FBI and CIA to report crimes. CIA because the crime involved fake Silver Eagle coins, which is US currency. They wouldn't help because I was not a victim.
Thanks for calling out FB. Like you clearly point out, it's about revenue, not protecting its users. My family has limited their use of FB because of this and FB's lack of support.
Without users, there is no revenue. The majority of accounts are scammers, bots, trolls and crazies. Their flawed business model is their downfall. Good riddance.
Yes it really has no end to evil and glad to quit and delete along with never looking back and for anyone else really have to think about that otherwise.
I started seeing so much hate in a news portal, and reported the hate post. I got a similar response like 3:14 . I later realized that the algorithm started linking hateful content to me (the same stuff that i reported). I removed facebook from my pin tab on my PC browser, but now started getting constant notifications about new friend suggestion of people i dont even know (which is didnt get before), on my phone. I then deleted the app from my phone. Life has been very peaceful ever since.
That's the exact same response I get every time I report a scammer, no matter how blatantly obvious it is, even to a preschooler. Yet when I call a scammer a scammer in comments, I'm the one who gets another stretch in the FB House of Corrections.

They do not want to do anything about the fake accounts that way they can tell their advertisers we have so many accounts and you would have this amount of people to see your ads on our platform
@@b4804514 FaceBook was created to monitor the population at first, then to influence it later. The fake accounts are government propaganda accounts, chiefly.
I posted an ad for my work and it was actually worth it for the price, but the fake ads on there bother me. And I tried reporting fake accounts recently and it wouldn't let me.
I closed my Facebook account 3 years ago and haven't looked back. The scams are 1 reason, but also because people can get so ugly, and because people misrepresent their lives.
Me too! It's been three years ago this month. The app is just a tool used to brag to others how wonderful your life is. It's narcissistic. I've often referred to it as the loneliest place on earth.
My ex-wife left me after using my line of credit to get 15 thousand dollars in fake teeth, then came the drastic weight loss, then the constant tanning bed routine, and then the fake boobs. Left me on a Monday, jumped in bed with a guy from Plenty of Fish on Tuesday, married him in 6 months. . . Finds out he has AIDS, Herpes, addicted to OxyContin, 3rd mortgage on home and then she went back to eating .. she's gained OVER 150lbs....and, the reason I'm typing all this .... Every week she RE-HASHES her pics on Facebook when she was with me ... THIN and Healthy, both of which is is not now. . . and it kills me to see her get over 100 likes, and love hearts from people that haven't even seen her in 2 years, she got a stay at home job on the computer, lost her license with TWO DUI's, has her groceries delivered to her house, her neighbour brings her her supply of booze, 40oz bottles of vodka. Why do I know she's so fat and falling apart? ...When her husband left the house, he did not remove or delete the passwords for the HOME SECURITY SYSTEM. Everyday, when her ex-husband gets bored, he flips his phone on and watches ALL of the cameras in the house...he told me that she thinks the cameras are set up to detect movement AT NIGHT in the house...I personally think that is just creepy but at least we know she is as big as a house but living in a fake reality on Facebook. PS: Canadian Women who grew up in " the woods" are not very tech-savvy.
I'm scambaiting someone who is running a romance scam right now, and they are so stupid and boring to me I don't know how anyone could fall for it. But now I think the gig should be up and I should ask them if they're being forced to do this. I do feel bad for them even if they're not, what a pathetic existence.
Lon, your advocacy for integrity and fairness are always and sincerely appreciated. My wife and I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. God bless!
I get 200+ 'friend requests" every day from places that post in foreign languages from people who obviously aren't looking for an unknown guy in his 70s. This is why I dumped my account.
I have my real account and one that I use for investigative journalism. My fake one doesn’t use any pictures of me or a real person, just cars. That profile gets on average 200 friend requests a month. It was dormant from 2017 until I started using it again in 2023.
@@adamrussell1433 I’m 58 , got off in January 24, Don’t miss it , I informed my “ friends “, since January, Not ONE text , not ONE phone call …. And I have reached out to no avail , Imagine - 50 years knowing these people , they’re not friends
I have been confounded for a few years because I lost access to the account because the associated email address lapsed, but they will not give it back to me unless I give them government ID.
I will say I work for a non-profit and posted an ad on there, and it was relatively inexpensive for the amount of people it reached. But social media including UA-cam is addicting so I'm considering going cold turkey but haven't yet.
I got off Facebook five years ago, and have no intention of going back. I have no other social media platforms on my phone and computer, and never wiil. Social media is destroying human interaction.
Human interaction is a joke also. Animals dont communicate with words, but abstract sounds. Learning how to read, it was all a scam in the first place.
You are so correct!! Last time I used Facebook was about 8 months (or so) ago. I got my account suspended for spreading hate and misinformation…. All I said was (on the little mermaid trailer page) was “this movie does not look good”. Someone reported it as a hate speech and it got me suspended for 30 days. I’ve not been on Facebook since. When you don’t use it for a long while you’ll get notifications encouraging you to start using it again.
@@warrenlewis3977 well the acting looked bad, it didn’t look like it was underwater at all, sabastian and flounder looked terrible, Melissa McCartney sounded like someone that had just quit smoking, and the other special effects looked god awful (like Disney went very cheap in that department). @@warrenlewis3977 well maybe it’s because I have daughters of my own. And maybe I saw the original many times because I have little sisters that were young in the 90s. I know I'm late here but this reminds me of credit card corporations allowing fraud because the consequences cost them less than putting in the resources to address the problem. Thanks for talking about this, Lon!
hello good day 👋🤗 I am hacker John I help people trace scammers , recover back their money back and trace kidnappers, and stop blackmailing of any type. So have you been scammed before?
I never had a Facebook account and it was because my Family had them. The amount of vile and vicious discourse between friends just reminded me of High School and that wasn't a "Drama" I wanted to relive !
Yep, I remember I have reported a bunch of sex related pages and they got no traction at all. Even when, at one point, people had pages with overt nudity in it while advertising marijuana. But as soon as I took a screenshot, blurred out the nudity, and reposted something from THEIR platform, I got slapped with a 30 day ban! I'm so tired of Facebook..... And Twitter and everywhere else is worse.
I saw that honeypot post the other night and thought you might be up to something because it didn't seem like your account was hacked. I'm glad you posted this, always great research and analysis you do. I can't tell you how many times I report scams on Facebook, especially from fakes businesses spoofing real businesses and Facebook will not take it down. Even from advertisements from these fake businesses, it's crazy. Facebook is a cesspool and they seem to not care, nor do most of their users it seems.
That lifestyle of social media not just Facebook but any others really can make you deal in a whole lot of living fake and also used to deal in that Facebook life but quit last month also the site had tech issues as well and also you can never know what those types of people can be capable of or if you get targeted by Cancel Culture, PC (Politically Correct) mobs, online bullies or any other nuts out there. Also besides looking at videos about the harms of this life and people quitting and deleting social media accounts may also want to look up this work 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene and see if this violates them all along with the people living this life chances are they do and that really is red flags there.
This doesn’t just happen on FB it happens in real life too. In 2016 our house caught fire. Fortunately the fire department was able to save our home, but we had significant damages. I was standing across the street watching our house burn and the fire dept was putting out the fire, I was approached by a young woman wearing wearing jeans and a tshirt saying she owns a business that restores fire damaged homes. I asked her for a business card and she said she would be right back with one and left. She returned about 5 minutes later with a disheveled looking man who said he can vouch for her, and a name and phone number written on a piece of paper torn from a notebook. Not a business card. At that point I said no thank you. The next day we had at least four different people coming to our door representing “damage restoration companies”! Our insurance agent said these people have scanners so they can find out when fires happen and show up right away to scam people. Trying to take advantage of someone in a vulnerable moment is the lowest of the low!
I though Facebook wasn't too bad, and was useful for talking to groups and small businesses.. and THEN I tried to sell a gaming PC... and I was swamped with scammers.. so much so I deleted the FB account that I had been using for 14 years
Glad you’re calling them out on this. Most of us have some awareness of all this crap but it’s frustrating how little they do about it. The duct cleaning stuff - that cracks me up!
THANK YOU!! Especially in the pet industry. So many scammers and fake accounts. Just put the term "perfect shoot" in the search function looking through groups and you will see. If you click on the profile who posted the picture and then you click on their friends. They're all fake accounts. It's so crazy.
THANK YOU for this video! My Facebook use to be a nice way to socialize with friends. I'm older so I found it easy and fun. Years later my friends posts all seem to be hidden and replaced with "sponsored" posts. I usually leave a negative response but we all know it does nothing. I do report these post but guess what? after a few Facebook STOPS ME and says I'm commenting too much. But in the end,... doesn't Facebook make money off these scammers?? So why would they lift a finger to help get rid of them? Bottom line,.... Facebooks greed will eventually destroy this whole platform. People like me who used to find it personal are now walking away from facebook altogether. It's nothing but fake profiles and scammers now. $$$$ and greed have power.
It blows my mind that people would send a copy of their government ID and pay money to a company that can't be trusted. Far easier to just delete your account and then you don't have to worry about being scammed or having your dumb Facebook account hacked.
This is why I made my account "Friends Only", and vetted anyone that wanted to be my friend. Even still I require a actual real life meetings before adding (or know something about me the scammers would never know). I also stopped using my face in my ID pick. Facebook also allows Scammers to post sponsored ads that rip people off due to them needing money. I only do business, or visit other business accounts that have actual locations, and never do business on marketplace (or other groups) that require shipping, and/or don't accept cash. To make matters worse I get threatened by Facebook for reporting all the scammers as being harassing (they too gave me the same response like in 3:19). Their staff is more focused on finding & removing people that don't think/believe like them rather than going after scammers. Oh sharing a video like this warning people on Facebook could get you put in Facebook Jail, or banned if their staff catch wind of it (like if it goes viral). I posted a about the Sponsored Scams on Facebook they removed it and threat me with a ban for misinformation. Most likely cause it hurts their bottom line.
I NEVER put my face on any photo there, not even a real full name, location, phone, where I work, where I went to school, and my wall is always set private. I only added 50 friends to it since I joined like 15 years ago- VERY choosy who I add. I dont get ads because I used the Fluff Busting Purity firefox plugin that eliminates most of the FB junk and ads
Yes, this happened to me as well. I posted on a thread that was created by a virus that tagged everyone on the friend list. The user is 70+ aged, hence I assumed most of their friends would be elderly. So I replied to the post saying it's a virus, don't click. Soon I got an official warning from FB about spamming. None of my reports or any other reports I know have ever resulted in anything. No matter if the scammer is impersonating a legit, big company, or a well known blogger, and demanding credit card info in their name.
Facebook will ban you if you make a comment that is anti trans or anti-woke. UA-cam will hide your comment. The only comments allowed are the ones in support of it. Only one viewpoint on the issue and any other comments are not allowed. Yet they allow scammers and ads.
I hate to admit it but i got scammed on fb and it was during the worst period of my life I had just lost 3 family members and my gf had just had a stroke that paralyzed her so i was despartely trying to find a way to pay for all these medical bills and support our 4 kids and it caused me so much more grief I just wanted to die literally, the pain was so intense and im still trying to get over it..I ve decided to file a law suit against fb for this because of this pain im still going through...anyone else experienced this can feel free to join me in this pursuit.
It's not just Facebook; many platforms have similar issues. That's why we need to be more cautious. Nowadays, I primarily use Signal. WhatsApp also has a lot of similar spam messages.
A person I know had her account taken over and had to reach out to a United States senator and congress person who then talked to Facebook on her behalf. It is ridiculous if you have to actually go to those lengths. There are no customer service agents available to help you at all on Facebook via phone. At least not that I know of
Ive gotta say i have to agree. We were physically threatened by another user last week (for rescuing the other users dog but made the mistake of asking council to help us find the rightful owner and the other user was fined for animal abuse) I reported the threats to Facebook, and it's sitting with them for review. Unfortunately nothing has happened nor do i have any confidence that the post will ever be reviewed, despite police involvement.

You're absolutely right. The problem of scams extends far beyond Facebook and permeates virtually every corner of the internet and even the physical world. The pervasiveness and sophistication of these scams are indeed disconcerting, and unfortunately, addressing them effectively is a complex and multifaceted challenge.
since the beginning of social media, people never realized thfact that those platforms are not private so it is easy for anyone to see anyone else. The issue is that it's human nature to want to be noticed however they don't see that being notice opens them up for all the issues you've talked just because facebook is free and we all would like to make easy money.
I reported a profile that had "Adult pictures" but replace adult with minors. I reported it with a screen shot. Not only did they do nothing, they restricted MY account. Zero F's given
Remember when the internet began becoming public use in the 90's? All the 'bad' stuff never went away, it just kept oozing to the lowest parts till social media created a home for it.
I 'member. It was and continues to be devastating to see all of the traditional infrastructure gradually slough away to the point that everybody is expected to have an e-mail address, a cell phone number capable of receiving text messages, the ability to register an account online and/or install the proprietary app, have a payment card capable of "tap" payment, and most recently the abandonment of paper receipts. The automating of skills by which humanity once derived pride in ability is probably the worst. It feels like our individual value to society is decreasing steadily with no end in sight, which is most disheartening.
I deactivated my fb account in 2020. I now only go onto fb twice per year to catch-up with some old friends. Although, like Lon says, they often fail to take-down scammer accounts, they have no problem quickly censoring alternative points of view that don't conform to their political or medical narratives. Among teens and people in their 20s, fb hasn't been cool or cutting edge for many years. They see it as a social network for their parent's generation. The future of fb isn't bright. If it disappeared, I wouldn't be shedding any tears!
I'm 34 and I deleted my account when I was 22 (Back in 2012). Even way back then I saw the direction the platform was heading in, and all the warning signs, IT DIDN'T LOOK GOOD! Oh and what a shock! I was right! I've been praying for it's downfall, especially when psychologists linked to the tobacco/gambling industry came out and said they worked with Facebook to make the platform as addicting as possible! That's evil. The damage done to society should be studied and written in the history books. Horrible platform and shame on all those who created it.
One of the best ways to prevent account cloning is to set your privacy settings so that only friends can see your friends list. That way a random scammer can't send messages to your friends pretending to be you because they can't see who they are.
I only let my friends see my account. I am forced to let my friends friends friend me because there's not an only me option. I also deleted followers. I'm not letting anybody follow me some of those accounts are creepy and I don't put a lot of stuff about me up there but news articles I like.
I think the Facebook demographic is mainly older people who are typically not very good a technology or spotting scams, which makes them an easy target.
Please, everyone just get off the social media platforms. Many people are in a very reactionary state of mind like you stated in your video and desperate for anything. I’ve been off Facebook for a very long time now it’s the best thing I’ve ever done for my life there’s no point to it there’s no point to any of the social media crap
Most of the "friend" requests I get are from fraudulent accounts from scammers in 3rd World boiler rooms. I get the same mispelled, bad englisg requests from people who don't exist.
I ran into the same thing with FB before I quit them 3 years ago. As an older single woman, I'd get tons of DMs from romance scammers, mostly "bereaved widowers who want to find love again." I'd immediately report them as fake accounts and delete their messages. I don't remember getting messages back from FB, but I don't believe they did anything about it. I'm sure it's an even bigger cesspool today.
Scammers figured out how to take over FB groups. They promised the admins money if they would let them put ads on their Fb group page. They then used that to convince them to add them to the group's admin account. Once in, they they kicked off the old admin, and set up shop - mostly selling T-shirt. I find it hilarious. Most FB admins are way too full of themselves, and love the little bit of athority they have - so seeing them get tricked makes me laugh endlessly. .
I left fb completely last year. After encountering people from a group that has been gangstalking me for years and having a strong feeling that my account was being manipulated from inside fb I have concluded that fb is a breeding ground for criminal activity and those who are involved on the inside including their shady monitors are dishonest and part of a shady criminal enterprise. Would now avoid fb at all costs. There's no way that the execs and ceo's don't know what is going on either.
It’s not just social media. There are a number of scammers that text you as well trying to steal information. Anywhere from someone saying hey is this John to saying you have a usps package that wasn’t delivered. Stay safe guys.
Same can be said for Twitter/X bots are poised to strike. Amazon is bad as well not removing fake storage that people report. Amazon simply looks at the number of positive reviews for an item and decides the item is not fake. It is a good thing I don't use Facebook.
I still do read Facebook for the occasional legit thing still on it, like groups that have good admin policing, or people I've known for quite a while. It still annoys me though when a discussion is suddenly spammed with things like promotions for cryptocurrency brokerage and advice, or magic spell casting services. I wonder if some of these spams are put up, not because of any hope of drumming up business, but to stifle the activity on a discussion about certain things.
Facebook is a joke , I’ve reported multiple scams to them , and nothing gets done . I’m glad someone made a video about Fakebook. You should do videos on the specific scams, there are so many ! I usually friend a scam account and toy with them before contacting Facebook . That platform is a joke anymore. Great video !
This EXACT thing happened to me two days ago. Someone was able to get into my account and posted a fake car for sale. I found out that one person on my account even went so far as to send money to the fake account, and now they are upset for losing their money. Also, my FB account has now been suspended indefinitely because it's under investigation. I'm still waiting to see if I will get my account back. I've had that same account for almost 15 years and I will be totally devastated if I lose all of those memories and probably thousands of pictures. I did absolutely nothing to deserve any of this. 😢
Are you a victim of Hacked/Disabled/deactivated account?? And you need help recovering your account. The methods in this video is pointless. I got my account back with the help of *Drudge Analyst* Reach out to him if you need help.
I'm so happy I met *Drudge Analyst* in this kind of situation, it was so stressful in finding way to recover my account but *drudgeanalyst* has made it so quick and easy. I suggest you reach out to him if you still need help Recovering your account.
What happened to that person any updates? Iam in almost same situation my business manager got hacked and iam afraid they will hurt people under my name so 😢
Yep...I've been fighting the scammers now for years. I've been trying to educate people in my local area who run groups so we can keep the scammers out of the groups. I've sent so many appeals, so many reports, nothing ever gets done.
Vultures! Thank you for the tips. Can you say something about FB URLs? Some of them are a bunch of random letters, and others are the names of the users. Are the random ones the scammers?
I recently posted on FB that my sister-in-law had been cloned. I used the word "scam" in the post. I was flooded with kindly anti-scam helpers as you discussed. BAH!
I have reported so many fake accounts and fake ads. FB constantly send me notes that the account didn't violate the TOS. They are blatant fake accounts that make silly comments on other people's posts to make them look real.
Lon, you NAILED IT. At one time, we used Facebook to support our nonprofit organization, but those days are long gone. We used to have some support options because we had a business account, but that support is long gone. We eventually lost access to our account (I have no idea how that even happens). So, we're bailing on Facebook, just because the risks far outweigh the benefits. A friend of mine likes to compare Facebook to the robber barrens that built the railroads at the turn of the last century--at least the robber barrens left us with the railroads. The sooner FB implodes, the better in my opinion.
It's not just Facebook; many platforms have similar issues. That's why we need to be more cautious. Nowadays, I primarily use Signal. WhatsApp also has a lot of similar spam messages.
Imagine if FB were ordered to fix this via a $100M daily fine until less than 0.1% of users are reporting being scammed, then an ongoing cost per user still being scammed 😅
Facebook gets to keep its numbers up by not deleting scam accounts. You say something that hurts somebody's feelings and. You get banned but scamming money ok. Smh the world is fucked
I have never been a Facebook user and you pretty much laid out many of the reasons. My question though is, if you can search on an image with Google, then why can't you ( or Facebook's staff ) search the face of an account holder to see if another account is using that same image or similar likeness ? Wouldn't that be a good first and very simple step to check for a fraudulent account.
FB relies on being able to say "We have X number of users" it's not in FB's short term interests to clean out scammers and fake accounts since that means it cannot charge as much for its adverts.
He tells us why. And I agree. They want the scams to run wild so they can start KYC, which just means, know your customer, in other worlds verify who you are using your id like passport or driver's license, it's all part of the plan to sell more directed ads
All the big players in the web space are a joke. I've reported some outright scams to both Amazon and eBay. They do nothing. In fact they removed my negative comments I have left on scam merchandise. (Like fake thumb drives). I personally think these companies should either be held accountable with a class action lawsuit or government should step into regulate them.
2:20 you asked why is this happening. So if I’m a scammer and I see that someone is naïve enough to leave keys in an unlocked car, I’d figure that they’re way more likely to fall for any scam I might pitch.
Every week I was getting many fake friends requests from romance scammers till I blocked my place of living, other info and my real friends list and my name is not an english name even though I'm living in the USA. Then the scammers "attack" stopped right away. I noticed that scammers like Nigerian scammers, are looking especially for their victims living in North America and UK because of possibilities of english communication and the value of the US dollar or UK pound . Otherwise wouldn't be that easy for them to communicate in other languages.
I will never give them my ID. Because they will for sure lose it in the next data breach. Great video! Facebook and other social media platforms can do whatever they want. No consequences.
I totally agree with you on everything. Even one time I had a payment issue with FB, as well as someone using my personals info and pictures to impersonate me on FB. It was impossible to find any help/support to fix it. Since I live at 30mn by car from their main headquarter, I decided to just go there to find some help. I've been always polite, and never threatened anyone. Instead, they sent me security guards, which kicked me out right away, without even listening to my issues.
It's not just Facebook; many platforms have similar issues. That's why we need to be more cautious. Nowadays, I primarily use Signal. WhatsApp also has a lot of similar spam messages.
Yup this just happened to me 4 20 24 8months of scammers impersonating a huge celebrity dming me when I realized and reported this I was banned blocked and punished they are protecting the scammers pedophiles criminals and punishing victims truth tellers. Same on Instagram sick I want to sue Facebook for aiding the scammets
I had somebody use my name on Facebook marketplace to sell nonexistent leather jackets. The amount of hoops I had to jump through to prove fraud and get the post taken down was ridiculous, especially when I would be on the hook for the money scammed out of people. It was at that point I was done with Facebook.
And this is why eventually, Facebook will disappear. It could have been such a good thing, but greed made it something completely different to its original goals. Well done Suckerburge
I'm currently going through all this with my dad, it's been 6 months of going around in circles, it all started with a Facebook group and becoming admin... I have no idea... they've compromised everything. Any advice would be amazing
Right after I posted this video I saw this on one of my local groups:
"Warning - last week there was a post about duct cleaning.
Just another reason to stop using these platforms.
Seriously. Once you stop fb, Twitter, insta etc you don't even miss them. It's just a problem you don't have to deal with anymore.
word. my real life is so much better without social media
UA-cam is in this group too, it’s full of dross and scams
Thanks to the usual suspects
Absolutely.
Facebook support is utterly useless..
Facebook needs to be held accountable for allowing this to occur.
Wrong. It’s the best in the world they have a concierge 24 hour gold glove service that comes over with a white glove, rather not a gold glove and then goes ahead and does whatever you ask.
The fact they let it continue will be their accountability when the businesses realize it's a cesspool and does nothing for their businesses.
Held accountable by who?
Scammers are paying off hate-book to keep there scams going.
Exactly... pathetic.
Lol
Or even delete your account just for using a harmless word.
😂😂
Saddest part is they’ll ban real accounts “violating community rules” but won’t look twice at a scam/spam account
They'll ban them, but not delete them because their ad revenue is based on how many "active" accounts they have
UA-cam does exactly the same thing
Totally, this is why I stopped interacting with any posts on FB. They also hide certain replies and if you're on the wrongthinker list then your comments almost always get hidden, so it makes pretty much any discussions utterly pointless. Great way to encourage users to NOT engage with your platform
@@MaTtRoSiTy UA-cam does the same thing.
Their algorithms are set up to insta-delete comments which in no way violate their "community guidelines" but state opinions and even facts they don't like.
and they also hide comments from public view.
Myself and some others have been tracking and logging instances for a long time,
and that data has been being shared with members of Congress, and being compiled.
And there are many other groups who've been doing the same.
I quit reporting the Nigerian scammers, obvious fake accounts and they don't do anything
Why try, right?
As a retired photographer I deleted my Facebook back in 2009 after reading the terms of service (painfully) and realizing they will take ownership of any photos you post personal or professional and can sell them to anyone and everyone.
Yes. I quit facebook years ago, over the same terms. I'm a musician, my band thought promoting our music online was a good idea... It wasn't.
Yep!!!! A few years ago, I found my "deleted" account was turned into a bot account after being off the platform for quite some time. I wish I never signed up years ago!
The whole thing is one big scam enabling thousands of smaller ones, thanx for the reminder of how they can legally steal everthing we post.
As an Italian, I honestly feel so ashamed on
behalf of these jobless scammers, cheating
people for their hard earned money. And when
they're targeted, look how easily they gaslight
the victim and start abusing. I hope all your page
reach as many people as it can and teach them
not to pick up calls from unknown scam phone
numbers in the first place, so that they're safe
and don't get scammed.
You do a great service to everyone here in the
Italy taking out these lowlifes. Keep up the
amazing work Adrian notch , You Are one of

Really annoys me how FB will ban or suspend your account for slight language infringements but allow obvious criminal scammers to advertise in their paid advertising.🤬🤬
Maybe some of the scammers or friends of scammers work in FB customer service
@@terrom550 absolutely, I agree with you.
I got a 30 day ban for a post that was made 7 years previously, which is just freaking insane.
Yup, recently reported someone selling stolen credit cards and I called them a c%nt! I got a 48 hour ban for swearing the scammer got left alone. Go figure..
Your own fault for joining. Smarten up.
It absolutely is filled with scammers, and the thing that I hate is that Facebook protects the scammers when you report them
Like You tube is any different...lesson is don't trust your life on the web keep your privacy on guard and deal with real life people instead of online people
@@pauobunyon9791 I’ve not noticed it on UA-cam nearly as bad. Facebook actually allows scammers to give them money so they can advertise directly to your feed. Where as UA-cam can only send you replies to comments.
Facebook has tyrannical ban rules. Adults don't need supervision. If you sneeze at someone hard enough facebook bans you for months. People can curse each other without crying to mommy. The only thing should be banned is criminal activity. Fake accounts/scams/pornography.
UA-cam feels like it does the same with the abundant bots that are here in this site.
Yes. So does IG and TikTok. Etc.
A good rule of thumb to avoid being scammed on FB is never buy anything through a FB advertisement.
very true, I never buy anything that they recommend or link to, money is too tight to be spent on anything else but food, so many of us are struggling just to survive.
I 100% agree. Never trust any Facebook, Instagram or UA-cam ad!!! Even if it's a legit company you will still be scammed
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
so online investment class is not real?
the only ads on FB and YT that I would believe are real would be from Wendy’s or McDonald’s etc. and even then I still wouldn’t trust what they’re advertising without personally visiting the restaurant and inquiring if the ad was real.
I have family and friends who are absolutely addicted to Facebook. It’s literally their entire existence. It’s almost like a cult.
That really is sad and also seems like a disaster waiting to happen.
And when you talk shit about it they think your weird.

Exactly. Trash for sure
Good for you. Well I'm next. Too much lies, fraud and drama on Facebook.
I stopped using facebook back in 2019 and now I never hear from family or friends. Its like they forgot theres other forms of communication.
That is their loss!

They actually FACT CHECK memes.
I posted a Waldo meme and Facebook threatened to ban my account for “inciting violence”.
farsebook is for the woke, the lemmings and the bored.
Yes
Great and informative video. Also loving the nostalgia in the background. One of the things I didn't hear mentioned was the fact that the Facebook accounts overseas have been able to "lock" their profile picture for several years where as users based in North America don't have that ability. This is where you are unable to clock on a larger size of your profile picture and a hover button pops up and tells you the profile picture is locked.
I left Facebook six months ago and don't miss it one bit. Cesspool is right. It's become so convoluted with bullshit that it's just not worth it. My mentality is better without it.
Same
I was flagged unrecommendable for posting truth and nobody could see any post unless they came to my profile and scrolled my timeline. Obviously not many are going to do that so I left it. Lost track of how long ago that was.
good for u, not missing out on anything!!
4 years without bookface. Absolutely dont miss it.
aww I'm glad for you. I have no intention of ever putting my personal info. on there!
Facebook has been like this forever the don't take them down because it makes the platform look like it has more active users than they really do
This is what elon musk had to deal with fake Twitter accounts. THOUSANDS!!
To break it down.
Scammers = Customers
Users = Products
FB can get you killed or extorted in other countries where they kidnap those they think might have money.
FaceBook was created to monitor people too stupid to realize that FaceBook is an information gathering tool on the public.
Yes it really has no end to evil and glad to quit and delete along with never looking back and for anyone else really have to think about that otherwise.
The lack of support is the worst if anything goes wrong. Unfortunately there is nothing else that has the reach of Facebook. Mine own traitor.
I report porn spam and yup same message. Like I'll post a comment or question on a post for a product and first comment or comments is usually porn.

You should tell the scammer they'd have better luck if they were more political, maybe they'll try it and be put in FB jail.
I've been responding to the scam posts with...how's the weather in Lagos Nigeria?
I do the same
They do not want to do anything about the fake accounts that way they can tell their advertisers we have so many accounts and you would have this amount of people to see your ads on our platform
It is a conflict of interest so FB can lie.

But now I think the gig should be up and I should ask them if they're being forced to do this. I do feel bad for them even if they're not, what a pathetic existence.
Facebook is now a scammers dream.
Don't use it !
Always was.

Lon, your advocacy for integrity and fairness are always and sincerely appreciated. My wife and I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. God bless!
Wow, thank you Budley! I greatly appreciate your support of the channel. Here's to more in 2024!!
Very generous 😊
Nice to see some good people out there still ❤
Must be nice to have money to throw around. Maybe better spent on a food bank...
I love it when people drop this type of money to support someone who’s doing a good course well done
I miss the days of MySpace, when the internet was still innocent. I left social media a year ago, life is better without it, like it use to be.
Wait, so you’re telling me adults are STILL using Facebook?! That is the real tragedy here.
Cheer up, my friend! Everything will be okay in the end.
Lol…adults and super old ones are the primary users, average age like 90. No smart young person I know would be anywhere near ancient FB
@@adamrussell1433 I’m 58 , got off in January 24, Don’t miss it , I informed my “ friends “, since January,
Not ONE text , not ONE phone call ….
And I have reached out to no avail ,
Imagine - 50 years knowing these people , they’re not friends
@@brentevans7872 There's such a thing as "smart young person"?? 😂😂
@same5952 not in your family
Lack of support, yes this! Literally impossible to talk with a real person at Facebook support. It is insane
Total AI support is so much cheaper ain't it. They must have figured out it's worth the hit in usage due to disgusted users.
Thankfully you don't need to talk to anyone to delete a Facebook account, which is the solution for everything Facebook related.
The irony hey, Facebook and UA-cam are only happy they get to serve you ads and sell your data.
@TheReturnOfJMVEntertainment yeah youtube and google is way worse
Google is the same
I will NEVER give a social media company my ID, credit card or anything like either of those. When that happens, I stop using social media forever.
I have been confounded for a few years because I lost access to the account because the associated email address lapsed, but they will not give it back to me unless I give them government ID.
I will say I work for a non-profit and posted an ad on there, and it was relatively inexpensive for the amount of people it reached. But social media including UA-cam is addicting so I'm considering going cold turkey but haven't yet.
but u have account on youtube, so youtube is not social media platform?
What didn't look good about it?
@@warrenlewis3977 well the acting looked bad, it didn’t look like it was underwater at all, sabastian and flounder looked terrible, Melissa McCartney sounded like someone that had just quit smoking, and the other special effects looked god awful (like Disney went very cheap in that department). And then when the movie came out, turns out I was right because LOTS of other people were saying how bad it was.
@@josh24441 I assume that ur a grown man why are you watching a little girls movie?
@@warrenlewis3977 well maybe it’s because I have daughters of my own. And maybe I saw the original many times because I have little sisters that were young in the 90s. And maybe you’re on the boat of people that would’ve made this comment go full circle and report me just for saying a movie didn’t look good. The real question is why do you care about what some guy on the internet thinks of a “little girls movie”?
Facebook has tyrannical ban rules. Adults don't need supervision. If you sneeze at someone hard enough facebook bans you for months. People can curse each other without crying to mommy. The only thing should be banned is criminal activity. Fake accounts/scams/pornography.
I know I'm late here but this reminds me of credit card corporations allowing fraud because the consequences cost them less than putting in the resources to address the problem. Thanks for talking about this, Lon!
hello good day 👋🤗
I am hacker John
I help people trace scammers , recover back their money back and trace kidnappers, and stop blackmailing of any type.
I deleted all social media ( all bs anyways) i dont miss it at all ! once they popped me for something i didnt do i got rid of It ALL
Just delete that crap! Facebook, Instagram all crap. They protect scammers, not you.
Facebook is a cesspool and they seem to not care, nor do most of their users it seems.
if enough people report they MAY do something
Don't use FB !
And this is exactly why I’m not on ANY social media.
THANK YOU!! Especially in the pet industry. So many scammers and fake accounts. Just put the term "perfect shoot" in the search function looking through groups and you will see. If you click on the profile who posted the picture and then you click on their friends. They're all fake accounts. It's so crazy.
I tell my Facebook friends to make their Friends List non-public. Makes it harder for the scammers to know whom to target with cloned profiles.
Unemployment now makes unemployed candidates upload their IDs too.
@@MultiCreditKIng I'm ok with that, so only US citizens get unemployment.
"You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy ..."
It's not just Facebook; many platforms have similar issues. That's why we need to be more cautious. Nowadays, I primarily use Signal. WhatsApp also has a lot of similar spam messages.
THE number one thing we can do to fight this: DONT use the platform.
We need to see more of this call out of social media.
Well done Lon. It’s very frustrating. It’s not just Facebook. It’s everywhere. Not enough is being done about scams.
You're absolutely right. The problem of scams extends far beyond Facebook and permeates virtually every corner of the internet and even the physical world. The pervasiveness and sophistication of these scams are indeed disconcerting, and unfortunately, addressing them effectively is a complex and multifaceted challenge.
That's right on that then again social media life isn't all what it's cracked up to be and also don't believe everything is real that's for sure.
since the beginning of social media, people never realized thfact that those platforms are not private so it is easy for anyone to see anyone else.
Zero F's given
So glad I deleted Facebook two years ago. I don't miss it.
Ive reported obvious scams to Facebook and they say "it doesn't violate community standards" like WTF?
I'm 66 years old, you can't believe how many beautiful young women want to be my friend. Like, sorry, I'm not stupid.

Way to go Lon! This video is much needed! Great Job!
If the entire internet disappeared, I'd be in tears of joy.
@@TheRealJellyBomb Why, you want to lose work from home options and have to travel to the library (and use the card catalog) to find info?
@@suncat9 OMG, yes please 😍
Theres no point to being social in general. Money is worthless
Most of the "friend" requests I get are from fraudulent accounts from scammers in 3rd World boiler rooms. I get the same mispelled, bad englisg requests from people who don't exist.
ENGLISH?* Was it intentional?

"What a cesspool Facebook has become."
Wait, so Facebook wasn't always a cesspool? Lol, that's news to me.
Vultures! Thank you for the tips. Can you say something about FB URLs? Some of them are a bunch of random letters, and others are the names of the users. Are the random ones the scammers?
Great video. That is one of the reasons I stopped using social media. They'll never fix it because scammers have to watch ads too.
They focus that technology on flagging memes that they don't like.
Is it possible that Facebook doesn't care about fake accounts because they get more ad revenue from them?
A lot of accounts are being cloned by scammers. Very sad for the elderly.
Don't use FB !
If you report too often, they shadow ban your account and you do not get noifications or new things on your feed very much
Yup this just happened to me 4 20 24 8months of scammers impersonating a huge celebrity dming me when I realized and reported this I was banned blocked and punished they are protecting the scammers pedophiles criminals and punishing victims truth tellers.
