Good topic to explore! I don't bother so much now but I have been very interested in clothes, particularly colours and coordination. I would agree with you that while many autists just view clothes in terms of function and comfort there are others who are fascinated by styles and variations. Overall I would say that the autistic approach to fashion is unconventional and individualistic. That doesn't necessarily mean wanting to stand out from the crowd but more generally taking their own approach to clothes and accessories, not just conforming to expectations. That can mean (particularly for women) wearing clothes for practicality when the pressure is to wear things that may "look good" but are uncomfortable, don't last long, etc but it can also mean not being a slave to trends and wearing what you like, not what others like or deem to be "in fashion". And sometimes unconventionality does mean embracing less practical clothing because of just liking the look or feel..

My fashion sense is basically "Is it comfy". I like my grey hoodies, and grey sweatpants, and green shirts. My favourite shirt is this maroon shirt that says, in plain Times New Roman, "i like video games a normal amount." I love it. Video games have been a special interest of mine since I was 3. I just say normal is relative.

A fantastic sense of fashion to have, and that sounds like a great shirt!

Great video! I’m also terrible at walking in heels - although I can wear block wedges for short periods of time.
My fashion sense is clashing colours & patterns & I love clothes with embroidery & fancy buttons. I particularly enjoy rainbow stripes - I think they’re fun & quirky. Can’t stand itchy fabrics or any tight clothing - I can’t wear chokers, collars or turtlenecks.
Back in college I went out with some friends wearing a fitted top with a collar thinking I’d manage for a few hours, but I ended up phoning my dad after half an hour & asking him to bring me another top haha. After that I got rid of anything restrictive!

Oooh it sounds like you dress in a way I'd very much enjoy! I know the feel of thinking you'll manage and then not being able to, but it ended with me taking a skirt off in a taxi :')

Bra issues. So painful. I wear a soft cotton kaftan with a bra over the top of it when I’m at home. I can’t stand the feeling of a bra against my bare skin. I prefer soft cotton or hemp undergarments with the structural garment (bra, corset, stays) on the outside. I was definitely born in the wrong century for fashion 😊💕
