Next time you're doing roof (or other high) work... a bucket and rope can be used as an "elevator" for your tools.... so you go up and then pull up the bucket, instead of carrying up a ladder... good video.
I commend you on doing that job. I need to do mine but have to wait for the 100°+ weather to break and I have 2 knee replacements and am not as stable as I use to be on roofs and ladders. Good job.
If oooonly you had a small pressure washer on that first day you wouldn't be clinging to life on the last. lol! Cleaning em by hand just blows! That's a good sized job for anybody and you did great!
Skip the Eterna bond tape. Henry's offers a cloth that you can inbedd into some henry's and then add some more henry's to give you a thick seal. Eterna bond WILL Fail. Home Depot stocks that plus the henrys 100% silicone caulk.
Great job! I, too, am working on my RV by myself. It's a slow go as I have many irons in the fire., as well as i am not a fan of heights, so working near the edge terrifies me. 😢 Almost done sealing the vents and sides, next is the Henry's Tropi-Cool. Needless to say, I waited way to long to get started, but will be happy when I'm done. Just hoping to get it water tight. Thanks for sharing your video, your are truly an inspiration! ❤
Thank you for watching & the kind words 💞 Best of luck to you on your project, you got this! Just take it nice and slow, it will all be worth it in the end :) it’s a great investment honestly
A little late to this video but great job. I am a 69 yr old women. I just finished doing this to my 33ft 5th wheel in Oregon by myself. I’ve owned rvs for almost 40yrs so I’m well versed on maintaining my rvs. Took me 4 days as well. My roof is 15 yrs old. Scrubbed the roof for 2 days and put the same tape on everything. Then 2 days to paint. I chose the NON silicone version of Henry,s which required 3 coats. I didn’t want to give up the option of using Dicor lap sealant in the future if needed vs using silicone and I didn’t like how the silicone looked on other rvs after several years. I love how much cooler the roof felt. I had to use knee pads to clean because the roof was so hot. But after my 1st coat I went barefoot to finish it up. It was a breeze to roll on and it was latex so easy to wash off. Thank you so much for posting this and keep up the good work. I know what you went through sister. 9:08
Awesome video im not a professional either but from the research i did i too came up with the same products you did i was doing my 1995 Georgie Boy but i sold it so i returned the Henry Tropi-Cool bucket now i have a 96 Holiday Rambler Endeavor LE and its an aluminum roof so it doesn't need this process.
I haven’t done a very thorough inspection but I have gone up a lot to remove my starlink or to just sit up there and it seems to be doing well! I’ve only seen a couple of spots where it lifted on the eternabond tape maybe a cm long. I’m planning to do a full 1 year out review soon!
thank you :) I used 1 whole roll of the 4" x 50' of the tape and maybe 3/4 of the second roll! Then I used almost the entire 5 gallons of the silicone.
Great work! It's not an easy job! I'm a female too, and after a leak decided to coat the whole roof with Henry's. I did half so far - not used to working so hard, so I take it slow and wait for cooler time. Mine is 25ft, to wash, I took a small bucket with water and some random soap and a hand held brush, not too harsh and scrubbed... thinking to use a small broom piece to get under AC and fridge covers... wash off with hose and see where more cleaning is needed... Bought a .90 gl of paint.. I'm painting the covers too... checked the next day and the surfaces are cool to the touch compare to original roofing! I love that... I cut a juice plastic jar to carry the paint up the roof and painted with a small roller, don't forget to get a rag.. I poured paint and then rolled it out from there... not messy with smaller things... i still have to wash and paint the other half :D it's worth it
Good question, I did not but wish I did! There was no real reason I didn’t, I think it just escaped my mind. I think because I was planning to get some slide awnings
You beat me to it! Bravo! I have an aluminum roof and everyone is telling me that I don't need to coat it with Flex Seal or Tropic-cool or anything like that. But I'm not sure about that. My roof is 39 years old which means it's been through all sorts of weather over the years and that can mean small pitting in the aluminum, which can lead to leaks. I've bought my Eterna-bond, but I haven't applied anything as of yet. I'm up in Canada (about a 2 hour drive north of Grand Forks, N.D.) and I don't think our weather is going to hold out long enough for me to to continue with the roof this year. So Bravo to you! You just popped up in my algorithm and because we are kind of starting out at the same point (well I happen to think so, lol) I have subscribed so that I can watch yo progress along the way and compare my project advancements to yours. Good Job!
Yay thank you for being here & subscribing! :) I find a lot of people do just the eternabond tape & do fine but I don’t think it hurts to be even more careful with a roof coating. 😅 wishing you the best of luck with your roof!!
Yep it’s holding up so well! Also, I’m pretty sure this fixed my small roof leak I had because we’ve had plenty of heavy rains and no leakage anymore :)
Thank you. I have a salvage 1998 Gulfstream Conquest and am the third owner. I can’t afford to put a lot of money into a new roof so I was so happy to find this option. I’ll be a solo woman getting ready to do this. I was beginning to doubt myself and then I came across your video with the great explanation of “how to”. Thank you. Your video means a lot to me.
👏👏👏👏 good job .. Woman you got guts getting water buckets up and down that later carrying things and stuff it's dangerous ... wonder f your in Texas migh want to come have and old lady a hand redoing her roof and setting some eternabond ... 😂😂😂
Never give up! You hung in there and got it done! That's a experience you will not forget and it was all about determination and self reliance. Great job!
Oh no, hopefully that’s not the case. So far so good and it’s been over a year 🙏🏼 I read a lot of forums saying to put the silicone over the eternabond.. I guess time will tell
Ahh yeah, some people said this & other said not to so I just wasn’t sure 🙃 I’m always so nervous to potentially damage something further too so I think that plays into my decision making sometimes 😅
As a 60 plus year old woman who just purchased my first RV, that is 40 years old lol, I appreciate your video. I got up on the roof and froze with fear. Still trying to overcome that. Roof definitely needs repaired soon.
Oh wow that’s amazing! Hey, you took the first step and got up on the roof at least, right?🥲 I totally understand that fear - the key is doing it despite it! We got this 💓 thank you for being here with me
purchased a 2006 5th wheel from another person that never took care of it it needs a lot things done it helps watching videos like this that are simple and straight to the point
Great! A few small areas of the Henry’s tropicool coating has chipped off (mainly on the back seam where I move things on it a lot like my solar panels or starlink) but overall pretty good. No roof leaks at all & I think it has helped a lot with the heat 🙏🏼

Exactly 😭 at least I got a good work out I guess hehe 😅 thanks so much!!
Looks great 👍 good job. I've put that type of roof on myself it's hard work again, and great job!
Thank you!! I appreciate you ☺️

Good to know! The eternabond is already up there and it’s held up good so far thankfully. The silicone is on top so I think that helps too

Thank you sir! :)
You should be proud of yourself! Great job!
Thank you so so much 🫶🏼🥲
great job!
Awesome Job! Glad to see just a normal person not a professional being able to do this all alone it def gives me motivation to do this myself now. :)
YES if I can do it, you can for sure! ☺️ thx for watching, I’m so happy to help out!
Good job on your RV. And nicely done video. It feels so good after you take a chance on yourself and tackle something huge when you finish

Curious about if bonded to the rubber roof to date

Can you apply Henry’s over the eternabond tape with no issues?
yep! You can't do it the other way around because while eternabond tape adheres to many substrates, it doesn't to silicone.
U need to do the Sides. U would have less worries & problems if u got the 6” tape that way prevent any leaks.
Great job honey !! How much did you use ?
thank you :) I used 1 whole roll of the 4" x 50' of the tape and maybe 3/4 of the second roll! Then I used almost the entire 5 gallons of the silicone.

So smart taking it slow and doing half at a time! Great job :) Henry’s has been great, I haven’t had any roof leaks since!
Did you use this on your slide out roof as well?
Good question, I did not but wish I did! There was no real reason I didn’t, I think it just escaped my mind. I think because I was planning to get some slide awnings
amazing work!! currently in the process of this.
she looks beautiful!
thanks so much!!! best of luck :)

thanks so much for the encouragement 🥲 appreciate u !!
Is the Tropi-Cool still sticking to the Enternabond tape?
Yep it’s holding up so well! Also, I’m pretty sure this fixed my small roof leak I had because we’ve had plenty of heavy rains and no leakage anymore :)

Thanks so much for the encouragement Steve 🥲 so true! The struggle really does give me a newfound appreciation which I’m so thankful for.
The Henry's won't stick to the Eterna bond tape, it will start peeling off the tape in a year or two.

Nice work!! I’m going to be doing this in the spring. Neighbor just did his camper roof a few weeks ago.
Nice!! It’ll be so worth it :) you got this!
You are amazing. Keep it up. Thanks for the video.
Aw 🥹 thanks so much & thank you for being here! That means a lot :’)
Why is the video portion of this blacked out on my system?
Oh no! I’m not sure but according to the internet, you might want to try using a different web browser, updating your web browser or refreshing!
Always replace calulking when possible.

Being a roofer for 49 years . When cleaning with soap ,it makes it really slippery. I worked on a friend's motor home. Be really careful.

Nice video couple good pointers well done
Thank you thank you :) I try!
Had it helped with keeping the rv cool?
I think so! I want to say I felt a noticeable difference
to the touch the roof and covers are cool where it's painted compare to original material - so i believe it will make a difference (i'm doing rv roof too, half painted for now)
