This guy is 86 and looks better than most people in their sixties.
Yep! See plenty Beer guts around here in Australia half his age looking like sh.t.
I love that he introduced himself as "Daddy" 💗
Me too :-)
me too
I'm Daddy too :)
The man who pays the bills. Daddy !
@@TheSnerggly
This dude's the most handsome 86 year old I've ever seen
How old is his wife ?
Sandra Heaton and smart too!!!
Agreed!
Patricia Lumpkin
Only Rip and Dr Esselstyn’s age are public. If Rip is oldest at 57 and Ann was about 25 when he was born then she’s maybe late 70s to early 80s. She obv prefers to not publicize it and I respect that.
Her dad and paternal grandpa were both famous surgeons and the later helped found the Cleveland Clinic.

Sandra Heaton , plant based people look Great👍🥬🥦🥕🥒🍓🍉
Such a kind man. He called me when I was having issues with blood clots. Amazing man.
Curious about your clots and what he told you ... I also had clots, PEs in both lungs and looks like I may have an autoimmune condition called APS. Thanks!
Yes what did he tell you
I spoke to dr. Esselstyn on new years day. He couldve charged me a ton but all he did was help me. I cant thank him enough.
I take Nattokinase for dissolving clots. I have very high lipoprotein A and this was recommended by many integrative medical docs.
He called me once too, and I missed his call!
Caldwell Esselstyn is a tremendous blessing to the world.
Yes he is!
God bless Dr. Esselstyn, his wife and daughter Jane.

He's not telling other's about Jesus Christ or helping the poor or those in need in the name of Jesus.
When do you ever see an 86 year old man whos at least 6ft 3 in such great shape mentally and physically?
I was just wondering how old he was. He looks great!
Could just be genetics. Look at how long Kirk Douglas lived. Even Carl Reiner is alive and alert. George Burns also. Wondering what their diet was like as adults. Surely they are healthier than poor people.
Yes, I think genetics plays a major part that would be correct. But Ive been dealing with elderly people all my life and it is rare to see a man of this age and height with such great posture, and mental sharpness... that is what struck me. Obviously he was an olympic rower so he has good genes and probably had a healthy and active lifestyle. I believe Dr. E father died of heart related issues in his 60's? I'm not 100 percent on this one, but if its true, its good news for all of those with poor genetics!
My dad was 6'3". He lived to 91. Excellent health.
He is wonderful. I find the way he speaks also very calming. He just exudes kindness.
Thanks to Dr. Esselstyn and Dr. Mcdougall, my partner and I have revolutionized the way we eat 9 years ago. My partner has significantly reduced the symptoms of her chronic illness thanks to whole foods plant-based diet... We'll be enormously thankful to these two wonderful doctors for the rest of our lives.
I'm 22 and dropped out of college last year after surviving a suicide attempt due to inflammation-related, mental health issues even though I had, just six weeks prior, decided to cut out starchy carbs completely from my already low carb, omnivore diet. (Big mistake, I know.) Now I'm on day five as a whole-food, plant-based vegan and broke down crying today because I feel calm for the first time ever! No anxiety or raging obsessive-compulsive thought spirals, just... calm. Fingers crossed but I hope this eating lifestyle is here to stay.
Y'all are beautiful souls and keep up the amazing content!! ❤❤❤
I hope, regardless of the diet you are following at the moment, that you are experiencing good mental health :) All the best.
How are you doing now? Wish you all the best 🤗
Jane we just love you and your whole family! Thank you for having your father on again!
My wife, and I purchase our organic oats 50 lbs at a time. Amazing how fast the two of us go through that much. We eat our oats raw with fruit, flack seeds and just use water as milk. 26 years whole plant based vegans. It is a great lifestyle. So happy to see your videos helping others by setting an example.
Where do you buy the 50 lb bags of organic oats?
Plant base for 3 months with minor hiccups...
@@navarrosarah1 We have a local health food store that sells in bulk. We get our oats from them. Mount Hope in Cottonwood, AZ
Are they raw or are they just not cooked?
Understanding is it oats are generally steamed before they get to us
Unless of course they're toasted oats.
Troy hope it’s nothing bad?
My great grandmother ate eggs, and bacon and toast with butter for 102 years. No heart of vascular problems. She also raised her own garden and ate plenty of vegetables and walked about 2 miles a day up into her late 90's.
so she lived until 103 then as she wouldn't have been able to eat that for the first 3 months of her life lol
I had never even considered dry rolled oats as the basic ingredient for a bfreakfadt bowl.. I was brainwashed by the cooking instructions on the bags! Thanks so much Dr.Essestyn.
😆🤣😂 Jane sneaks in the rest of the flax seed (and raisins) when the good doc’s attention is elsewhere. What a hoot. Just noticed Dr E is a lefty. I love this family! ❤️❤️👍👍
I started eating this breakfast everyday about 3-4 years ago because of you guys and it has been a game changer!
In what way, if you'd be so kind?
"Daddy" has got that cool, calming voice. I would love to hear him more often.
He's got plenty of videos.
Jane, your father is one of the most charming and sweetest evangelists of health and nutrition in the entire world. Thank you so much for being such a good daughter and sharing this video with us!
Wow! That was nice.
This is the cutest family in the world. I adore them. Thank you for your great work on our family's behalf!
I've been eating cold oats soaked for a few hours while I sleep. I'm on medications and my intestines are backed up and for the past few days I've been productive. Go me!, I never thought I'd like cold oatmeal but I put blueberries and pineapple and cinnamon and chia seeds in it. I even like Almond milk in mine, and I honestly thought I'd not like it either! I'm so thankful for your videos and Dr. Mcdougall and the others who promote plant based food. God bless you all!
It is a known fact that an all plant diet is the best diet for the human body. Studies have show that eating meat shortens the life and causes heart disease and many cancers. I read The China Study by T. Collin Campbell and it makes 100% sense to switch to an all plant diet. Dr. Esselstyn is mentioned in Dr. Campbells book. I recommend this book to everyone. Knowledge is Power!
I love Dr. E. I swear I would sit and listen to him recite the ABCs. His voice is so beautiful....but his knowledge filled messages have made my life better. Every day, every day, every day I do everything he taught me. Thanks, Dr. E. But...I wish I had the problem of losing too much weight. I guess that's the difference between a 4' 11" woman and a 6' something man.
😊
HAPPY NEW YEAR, JANE, ANN, AND DADDY ESSELSTYN!! HERE'S A TOAST TO OATS, HEART HEALTH, AND LONGEVITY!!
I’m now having Oats as my first meal of the year
Me too
Same!
Same!
Me Too!
Hear Hear!
He's the daddy? WOW he looks like their brother! I enjoyed hearing him talking such an intelligent man with so much knowledge.
Got this out of your original book! It’s my daily breakfast.
I’m 64 and had a CVA ( stroke ) 7 weeks ago. Working on the heart and brain health. Any comments or encouragement is appreciated!
Pedro
Had a cva 6 weeks ago. and 3 stents put in. I'm 77 and following a diet rich in plants. All the research shows that it works.
May the power of plants be with you!!!
I love oats, banana and berries. Never considered it as a snack.
Love this family!! “Forks Over Knives” turned our lives around! I have oats every day for breakfast - I make up enough for 4 days and store in a Mason jar in the fridge - banana, lemon juice, a few dates and some water in the blender, added to rolled oats, ground flax seeds, chia seeds, ground cinnamon and cardamom, and frozen blueberries. I top it off with some delicious, home-made, sugar- and fat-free granola. Utterly, utterly delicious! Also on my breakfast tray is home-made soya yoghurt made from home-made soya milk and half a grapefruit.
Our doctor told my hubby to go to a slimming club, just before the lockdown (they then met via Zoom). He was stuck at home with me and had no choice but to eat what I gave him and nothing else. Whole-food plant-based, the weight started to fall, not by following the slimming club recommendations. The leader of the group wants a weekly summary of what he eats and I send it to her - she often asks me for recipes!!! Two or three months ago my hubby complained of severe muscle pains and I said I was sure it was the statins he was on. He came off them, and told the doctor. The doctor said to come in in a few weeks and get a blood test. His cholesterol and BP have plummeted to normal and the doctor was amazed, saying his results were like those of a different patient, and that he now had the body of a 30 year old (he is 71)! He told him that because of his family history he ought to be on statins but he didn’t actually need them, and he was happy for him to stop. Cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes runs riot in his family - both parents and sister died from heart attacks and strokes (sister in 50s), older brother had triple bypass surgery 5 years ago and is now seriously ill again with heart disease, twin brother going downhill rapidly with vascular dementia and years of history of undiagnosed bowel problems. The whole family is/was morbidly obese. My hubby is by far the healthiest of the bunch. Many years ago when I first met him, and when I knew nothing about nutrition, I was horrified at the vast quantities of rich, fatty, animal-based foods his family ate. Cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes are not genetic in this family but due to lifestyle - doctors should realise this and not just blame genetics all the time.
Over several years I lost about 56 pounds on an intermittent fasting diet but when I discovered WFPB I abandoned this and have now lost a total of 70 lb and not even trying these days. Just enjoying large quantities of absolutely delicious food that I absolutely know is doing us both so much good. Our lives have been transformed. I would love to meet Dr Esselstyn and his colleagues, the WFPB pioneers, and thank them personally. They are absolute heroes. THANK YOU!
@@missinkling Thank you!!
I bought Caldwell's book. What a logical advanced-thinking human being. If modern medicine embraced his ideology there would hardly be any disease in our western culture. The problem is the pharmaceutical industry would collapse and many surgeons would be out of work.
I buy organic rolled oats and soak them overnight in my home made almond milk/raisins/ceylon cinnamon/pinch of sea salt
Yum! That sounds great - thank you for the tip!
Yes! Let's not forget powerful spices such as cinnamon, cloves, allspice, or even ready mixed pumpkin pie spice. Rich in antioxidants and flavor. 👍
I only soak them 2 hours on the counter 👍🏽🍵
A Hish 👍
Thank you so much for your excellent book and recipes. Five years ago at my lowest point having just suffered from a heart attack, you completely changed my life by changing me into an oil free vegan and for that I deeply appreciative. Since then no health problems at all. Thankyou again.
New vegan here. Watched this while eating my first bowl of raw oats with berries. 😋 Thank you for sharing your fabulous plant knowledge on your videos! I’m learning a ton!
Congratulations and happy new year!
Thank you for being vegan. You are a hero to me by not supporting companies that pratice animal testing or cruelty. Happy new year, my friend. 😊🙌🏾🍾
Karin Lee Do you use oil? Vegans use oil. Dr Esselstyn says NO OIL😇 If you are still using oil, please try and eliminate it 😇😁 Happy New Year 🥳
Raw oats, soaked/overnight oats, cooked oats. Yum!
Lula Mamie Hello, no oil or salt. I thought it would be hard, but it’s been easy. Thanks 😊
I love that he introduced himself as "Daddy"! Awesome. 👍
A special "heart-felt" thank you to Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn.
Caldwell Esselstyn! You have saved more lives than antibiotics! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Omg I love this, he is so adorable and I wouldn't have guessed he loves eating uncooked oats and fruit multiple times a day like me haha
If you don’t like the texture of rolled oats, try steel cut oats. I eat them every morning.
That’s what I have every morning, but I cook mine!
I cook my steel, but do my other like Dr. Esselstyn! I had a 6-vessel bypass in May 2019 and I am trying my best to do this way of eating, but I feel I am overeating!
@@laurad7439 I started eating oats with berries, flax seed, walnuts, half a banana and a few tablespoons tofu. It kept me full and later in the year, I actually lost weight while still eating the same breakfast with oats.
Rhea Morales Awesome 👏 😎👍🏻🎊
I quit cooking them and now eat them dry--result is I eat more and don't get hungry before lunch. And it saves a few minutes.
Me too. Prefer it.
I would have like to hear more from the doctor without interruption!
Frugal Mama Agree
His wife and daughter are part of the fun. Read his books and enjoy this channel. There is really not that much information to absorb...
His daughter kept bringing the video back to what the man was saying-the older woman kept interrupting to point out how much he was eating. It was a little distracting from the message, but she seemed like a kind person. This is the first time I’ve heard any of them-I was looking for information on oatmeal.🌻
yes, the ladies are kind of hyper, and the guys are quiet and calm, but that's ok.......
His wife is getting quits with the interrupting since everyone was upset Jane was interrupting last time. It's part of their style if you watch their other videos :)
Just love seeing "Daddy.". The three of you are the best. Plus, I think it's interesting that Dr Esselstyn eats the oats raw.
See "We like it Raw" video. I've not cooked mine since. Will eat them by the handful right out of the box.
Raw overnight oats are yum 😋
@@JorjaFox66 I tried that once or twice, but it's too dang easy to eat them right then, and you have to make another batch!
Invite him more often to your recipe videos 😁
It is so lovely to see you all together. He seems like a very unassuming man who isn't particularly at ease with the camera, but very gentle, warm and kind. It would be nice to see grandchildren in this scene too. Thanks so much.
What a beautiful way to start 2020, oats every AM and now going for PM, yeah
Hubby and I have been having oats for breakfast since May of 2019.!! ; D I have asked by brother, rather I have begged my brother, to call Dr. Esselstyn. I believe he will die too young. Which breaks my heart!! He's had heart attack. Of course cardiologists have him on meds and he is NO better; actually getting worse. Now they say he has small vessel disease so he's expecting to stroke. So hard to convince those you love!! BUT I keep trying! Sent video links in hopes he would take me more seriously. We'll see! Thanks for the video and for trying to help people understand and change their ways!!
I just made this for the first time.
I measured out 1 cup of oatmeal and added raisins, blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries. I added some coconut milk. This is absolutely delicious, “like eating candy” Love It! Thanks So Much for the Recipe.
I eat organic steel cut oats, uncooked, at least 6 days a week. I add walnuts, sunflower seeds, ground flaxseed, cinammon, turmeric, blueberries and sliced bannanas to the bowl. I top it off with oak milk. It's so filling, I have to remind myself to eat lunch (generally steamed cruciferous vegetables) between 2-3pm.
Thank you for the visit Dr. E! Such a terrific reminder that we can enjoy oats more than once a day--and uncooked! Happy new year to your lovely family! Here's to more good health!
Happy veganuary everyone. I'm looking forward to seeing veganism become even bigger than last year. Much love to all of my fellow vegan youtubers and Influencers. Hope everyone had a safe and wonderful new years eve. Happy 2020, friend😊🍾🙌🏾👏
@@oneheart19 Absolutely. Im ready to see animal agriculture disappear for good. More compassion and no more cruelty to our animal friends. Happy 2020 to you, my Friend😊🙌🏾🍾👏👏🙌🏾😊

Yay veganism is the best way to save human health , animals and the planet!!!🥰❤

Dr Esselstyn has soooo Inspired me!!!!!I am in Love with raw oats & raspberries!!!!when I saw the raw oats I thought yuk!!!!But I now Love your raw oats and raspberries!!! Can’t get enough. Now my granddaughter is living this too!!!! Thank you for keeping me & my family healthy!!!!!!& happy
“When you’re not looking” was the best! I’m excited to know I can eat even more oats healthfully. I think I was a horse in a previous life I love them so much. And I love you folks too. Discovering you has been life changing. Only 4 months vegan I’m all in and loving it more everyday. Wish I’d done it sooner! Happy New Year!
I've actually been very mindful of my oat intake because of the amount of glyphosate found in even organic samples. Clearly, your family is showing that this not as much of a concern as the studies would have you believe! I appreciate your perspective!
One degree brand is sprouted, organic, gluten free and free of glyphosates
I love my daily oats even more after watching this video! Dr E is an inspiration and Ann's constant interruptions are hilarious.
Anne is adorable!!!!!
Perfect timing. I went WFPB a year ago to control severe RA and eat raw oats, plain water and berries for every breakfast. I'm mostly compliant the rest of the time, but struggle with after dinner snacking. Oats and the Esselstyns to the rescue! This might be the first time I've conquered a New Year's resolution on Day One.
One last thing... According to google, your father is 87. OH--MY--WORD! He is in mint condition! So alive, so healthy... his thoughts on health seem to really work! I wish my parents were like him!
So nice having "daddy" on the show...lol! What a great man he is, smart and I can tell he is a good family man. 💕
Yes great man and gets lots of "flax" from the women in his life!!!🤣
You forgot to mention...they're RAW! I really am grateful for this video.....it gave me some good tips! Also...I love Annes recipe with mushrooms and kale!
You can see him putting raw oats in, right?
@@cheezheadz3928 yes I can ;I've followed Dr. Esselstyn for years. I am just saying that for people watching this ...and newly adopting a vegan diet.
How does the body digest all those raw oats??
Don't cooked the oats? First time viewer here. Thank you.
Rolled oats are steam rolled so they are cooked food
This whole family is a blessing to this planet! Love you guys!🥰
I love this family. They all seem so sweet. I adore Dr Esselstyn. He is wonderful. He has done so much he deserves so much credit and gratitude. Love the Esselstyn family ❤🌱
I’m so amazed that the whole family is plant base. I never put two n two together that he was your father. Hopefully one day i can meet him during a vegan fest. In my eyes he’s a Super Star.
I love oats! I do oats and groats in the morning almost everyday. I tried the recipe for the Black bean and oatmeal burgers in the Reverse and Prevent Heart disease Book on page 212. They are wonderful! I used salsa instead of the tomatoes and did a couple of flax eggs too. I will be making them again for sure! Thank you so.much!
brenda stranack Thank You for sharing 😁
I love watching y'all cook, your mom is a feisty little woman.
You two are great for helping those who are new to a plant based diet. We enjoy watching your show on the web. We buy the big bag of power greens at Costco, which we poke all over with an ice pick when we get it home. We squeeze all the air out of the power greens bag and place it under the ice bag in the freezer. After it's been in the freezer for 24hrs,we pull it out and while it is still sealed we crush it with our hands (gloves recommended) till it's powder. We then empty this frozen powder into a gallon zip lock bag. The power greens powder is always fresh in your freezer ready to be added to soups, marinara, smoothies, bean pots. The ice pick keeps the holes small so the green powder stays in the bag. Power Greens contain spinach, kale, swiss shard.
THIS makes me so very happy! Since watching THE GOOD DOCTOR last year THIS has been my breakfast 9 out 10 times. I tell everyone about how Dr. Esselstyn eats his oats. I so look to the Dr. and Mrs. Esselstyn as role models. LOVE THIS ... I JUST LOVE THIS! Thank you, Jane, for having your dad on again...this just makes me cry...you there, with your mom and dad. Happy, healthy 2020 to your entire clan!
Yes thank you so much!!! Dr Esselstyn you are my favorite and I learn so much from you. Happy New Year to you all! This looks like my daily breakfast too 🌱
Because of the Esselstyns, I always put 1/4 to 1/2 cup of oats in my fruit based smoothies. I don't particularly like oats unless prepared the way my mother served them, with plenty of butter and sugar. So anytime I can incorporate oats into something else, I do. I trust Dr. Esselstyn. Jane and Ann have helped with recipes, making it easier for the rest of us to eat healthy.
Oh my gosh! I just love you all so much, can’t thank you enough for all the work and research you do! I am so inspired by you 💕
Much love from Cleveland! Everything you guys do is so helpful to us!
Agree! :)
I just love your family! I'm the healthiest person in mine - they all want their eggs and bacon and dairy - and apparently they're 'ok' with their high BP and other ailments. I like having low BP, low cholesterol, etc. (It's not "our genes"! It's what we eat!) Usually I eat fruit all morning and occasionally have overnight oats if I need something more filling. So great to see Dr. Essie making his own oats and telling us why he recommends it to his heart patients!
Thank you for taking my call Dr Esselstyn!! Oats it is!! 😇
Awe! 💚 I love that Dr. Esselstyn was on this time! Happy & healthy new year to you all.
Such an inspiration! I am pleased to say that this is exactly my breakfast!
First meal of 2020.... Oatmeal ❤️ .. I use bananas, berries and cinnamon and a little maple syrup.
@Mary Lee Thanks for your suggestion and support! I omitted the syrup today and added more berries... you are correct, the maple syrup is not needed. Blessing to you.
PS. I Just Love and Praise The Way The Daughter Jumped In There At The In And Assisted Her Daddy. That Is Wonderful 😊❣️. GOD Bless.
Happy New Year Esselstyn Family.........♥️
Thanks for introducing your special guest! I’ve been loving steel cut oats. Hope they’re just as beneficial as raw oats. Happy new year to the Esselstyn family!
Happy New Year Beautiful Esselstyn Family!!
Love you guys! Watching this video to start my 2020!
Perfect to start the new year. Good choice. Happy 2020 =)
Is this great or what??? I’m wake up to 2020...and the Esselstyn’s are the first thing I see! It’s going to be a good year💛
I can't believe how good Dr. Esselstyn looks! He's an absolute doll! And he's still all about the science behind it. Thank you so much for this special treat starting the new year 2020! And, keep dancing! Love this doctor.

Great stuff! Love seeing you with both your parents on camera!
Precious family and great information! Happy New Year!!!🎊🎆🎈
I also had oats as my first breakfast of 2020.it is my "go to" breakfast and I love it with berries, banana and/or raisins.I like almond milk :) it is always nice to know you are doing somethong right for your health!
This was lovely to watch! But I do wish the Dr.’s wife wouldn’t interrupt him so much. Let the kind man speak! We want to hear his wisdom 😊
I love oats and often eat them for both breakfast AND dinner. Overnight vegan oats are a favorite snack/meal of mine too.
Thank you for the inspiration!! I smile every time I see you. LOVE and Health to you all.
I've never tried raw uncooked oats before, I'm going to have to try it. Thankyou for the video, it was so great to see Dr Esselstyn on the video
It would be so nice to see him more often.
Start my day with Oats every day, with flaxseed, sunflower & pumpkin seeds & hemp seed & organic mixed frozen berries. Delicious. Greetings and a Happy Healthy New Year to all the Esselstyn family from Australia.
Redemption! Well done Jane, it must've been tough to hold in all those things you wanted to say lol Love that you did this:) Thanks for all you teach. All the best to you.
Thank you for everything you do to make us well.
I never thought to eat my oatmeal "cold", as in straight out of the container until I watched the video from last year. This was a game changer for me! I have loved oatmeal my whole life (I am almost 51), so any time you and your mom post an oatmeal video, I watch and learn new recipes!
I finally tried oats the Dr. Esselstyn way. Oh my gosh! They are amazing. I already had two bowls this morning😋 I should have tried this sooner.
Thank you all so much for all you do showing us a way to better health!!! I’ve been working on WFPB... love having oats and fruit in am! ❤️
I'm going back to my oats this year!!! Happy New year!!!
Love all of your videos! Along with berries & banana, I always add lots of cinnamon to my oats & flaxseed meal.
Lovely family! Thank you for the encouragement to go plant based . I finally did - after I almost died from massive pulmonary embolisms in both of my lungs and in 80% of the deep vein in my right leg two months ago. I find so much encouragement from watching your videos and listening to you and your parents speak. I have started eating oatmeal daily and I love it! Grateful for all that you do!
How did you treat your disease ?
I have got a stent 5 months ago, I refused statins and aspirin, and now feel pain on my leg ( gamble) , I think it’s thrombosis.
From 9 august 2021 I started plant based diet.
I am taking now again after 5 months 20 mg statins and aspirin daily.
I mention that I followed keto diet 2 months and my LDL cholesterol increased to 275 .
I am waiting for opinions sisters and brothers
Thank you 🙏🏻
I love your videos and Dr Esselstyn. I’ve successfully reduced my weight and my cholesterol since I’ve been enjoying plant based foods. My arthritis and fibromyalgia have decreased enormously. Thanks for sharing the videos.
It's great to see this as a family affair. Your parents were phenomenal on that health documentary.
Love you had on Dr Caldwell but I read the Seven Day Rescue Diet book that really changed the way I cook and so, would love to see Brother Rip's guest appearance!! 😀
