Source video was shot with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS6. HD 1280x720 30 frames per second. The camera lens is a 12x optical zoom (25-300mm).
The audio was EQ'd from the Panasonic camera audio. Due to security concerns, I did not take my Hi-Res Audio Recorder and external mics. I did run into an issue with my audio recording. It contained way too much bass. I EQ'd the audio to lower the bass. I am still not entirely happy with the results. But it is an improvement over the camera audio and untouched Hi-Res audio.
This was one of the first events that I had video recording equipment worthy of recording extended parts of a concert.
Turns out that I had a great view of Neil Peart. My elevated angle and location allowed me to have a perfect view straight into one of the few gaps in Neil'd wrap around drum kit. Often times, I would get seats on Geddy's side of the stage which always meant an obstructed view of Neal's upper body.
My intent for this show was to record some of the somes and pair them with songs from another Rush concert in Baltimore on 4/22/2011. The hope was that between the two shows, that I could make a composite video that would amount to a complete 2011 Time Machice Concert.
In hindsight, I wish I would have recorded more of this show and of course more of Neil since I had such a great angle. That said, I was glad that I didn't spend the entire night looking at a camera while it was recording.
There are some small clips that I did not include in this release because I wanted to only present complete songs.
Notes:
Video recording is stopped briefly after most songs. The reason for stopping video after each song is that its tiring to hold the camera, there is a size limit on the files that my camera can create, and I needed to change the battery three times.
Additionally, the camera does shake a little when using the zoom button. I try my best to be as steady as possible. I did have to stand for the entire show which makes the camera platform less stable.
