      Guy Pratt is well accustomed to UA-cam. I've seen him on some really good interviews. I think he was posting his own content at one point. He definitely has some sort of influence with David Gilmour.

      David Gilmore simply does not like doing "media" interviews. He really only has to hit the big daytime and a few of the late night shows to promote his new album. When that round of "required" press junkets is done, David will go back to making music and ignoring the press. Not saying it is impossible, just that Gilmore very rarely does anything outside of traditional press, and as little of that as he can.

      in defense of the late night hacks, their TV audience isn't predominantly music fans, so they have to resort to the fluff or else their audience won't understand and will tune out.
      Long ago on Carson, Bill Cosby and Morrissey were on together. The studio audience must have been fans because Morrissey got a way bigger crowd reaction when Carson said his name than when he said Cosby's name. Cosby was PISSED. You could tell it during his interview. It was great, watching America's dad (Cosby Show was still the #1 or 2 TV show in prime time when this aired) get upstaged by Morrissey. Great times.

    • @BillysFingers
      @BillysFingers 51 хвилина тому

      @@zimmejoc I agree! Late night tv shows have to appeal to the masses so they're more likely to ask the worlds best musicians questions about their experiences with ghosts over their musical skills. Fair enough but it shows why Rick's stats are higher than theirs. I think there's just more of us that want to hear a real musician interviewed by another.

    Rick, I think partially why your channel does well, is unlike most media, you don’t do outside advertising. Plus I can’t tell what your political affiliations are, what causes you favor, I wouldn’t be able to tell you what your favorite food or color is even.
    You and the variety you show, as Joe Perry once said “Let the music do the talking”. I can’t tell you difference between an A sharp and a C minor, you say “Sus chord” I laugh because it sounds funny. I have no clue. I can tell you my musical appreciation has improved greatly though because of your work.
    Some day I’ll understand a Sus chord and that’s why I keep coming back.

      Gilmour is very accessible and covalent to people in front of him and those that have normal access via shared proximity. He visits his local pub and seems to be supportive of his immediate community and surroundings.
      He’s a man of substance who seems to send a very clear message as to how he prefers to interact with people and the world. For an enigmatic person he seems to just approach the world on his own terms. Very admirable. If Rick wanted to get to Gilmour, pop in down the pub and have a normal conversation with the man, maybe.

      You are wrong there! Not every 4 year is a leap year. Years divisible by 200 are not leap years after all, so dividing by 365.25 is incorrect. It is actually a bit smaller than that (like 365.24 or something), resulting in 12069.12 which is correct. That's why you can't just assume what a random person on the internet says is true :)

    Gilmour’s loss. Same with Page. The interviews on this channel (ironically) expose more of the person for ‘who they are’ than the interviews who approach that directly. Your interviews are about a journey. You let the interviewee guide it as much as you do. You can do this because you are knowledgeable, and you are genuine. The interviewee recognises this, and they trust you. Trust well placed I might add. Keep up the great work sir.

    I gave up on regular media in the mid 1990s as cable TV started to have WAY too many commercials. I pay for UA-cam Premium to reduce the ads and it is well worth it.
    Regular media is only a method to show more commercials and itt deserves to die as it can do nothing in depth.
    ... and yes, I do contribute to those UA-cam creators whom I watch. I appreciate their work as it is exactly what I have always wanted, viewing wise, even since I was a kid in the 1970s. Deeper and longer interviews.
    Btw, when Rick Beato says he cannot get to Page or Gilmour that is saying a lot as to just how iron clad and old fashioned those publicists are. I would think Rick would be the #1 go-to guy for an interview. Those are two I would like to hear from. McCartney doesn't say much that he wasn't saying 50 years ago and poor Ringo can only say he is a lefty playing on a right-handed kit and peace and love over and over and over.

    Don't confuse "views" with watch-minutes. Also, YT is crushing traditional media in large part by exploiting addictive behaviors of both creators and viewers to serve up "content" created at no cost to them. If you operate a multi-billion dollar network and have means to "suggest" content to watch and interrupt it with ads, you'll find a way for the free content to come out ahead of paid content.
