  • This is a triple batch of cowboy candy, AKA candied jalapeños from a great recipe from Foodie With Family. The recipe has been successful in our house for 3 consecutive seasons and our family members (especially one of them) love it that we make a lot! Here’s a link for the recipe: www.foodiewithfamily.com/cand...
Each of the 3 jalapeño plants yielded about 3 pounds of fresh peppers this morning, perfect for tripling a 3 pound recipe!
There’s quite a bit of the juice leftover after canning the peppers. This is wonderful because the juice also makes a fantastic flavor element when brushed on beef or chicken or added to a broth/marinade.
It’s a tremendous blessing to have a garden, big or small. The seeds for the jalapeños costed only a couple dollars. The amount of flavor we’ve been able to preserve from it is more than enough for the next year in our family. Well worth all that is necessary!
There are lots of ways to use these, my favorite is simple: add a bit of cowboy candy and cream cheese to a Sociables cracker, it’s just out-of-this-world kind of tasty! Candied jalapeños also make an excellent secret ingredient when added to deviled eggs, if you like the tingle of spicy peppers, a dab of zing goes a step beyond pickle relish/pickle juice.
I haven’t yet seen candied jalapeños for sale in stores. Home gardening, canning, and farmer’s markets are a clear road to having these in your pantry.
    Thanks for watching
    God bless!
