    Victron Multiplus VS other inverters and why you might want one.
    Reasons you might want to choose a Victron Energy Multiplus over a Victron Phoenix inverter or an inverter charger over an inverter if you’re looking at other brands such as the Renogy pure sine wave Inverter charger or the Sterling power pro combi.

    Thanks for the video, just have one question: I have seen videos where the twin 120V is described in the 3000kw model which is confusing because of course here in the UK we are in need o 230v system. are they all capable of both 120 and 230 or are there specific ones for each requirement ? I'm not talking about the Quattro version but the 5000/70 - many thanks again 🙏

      There is a way to convert them from 230 to 120. VICTRON have released a manual on this. However, I believe it may invalidate your warranty if you are not an authorised VICTRON engineer.

    Wish the compact models were available for the American market in 120v. Would love a 2000 watt unit for the travel trailer I am hitting and remodeling from scratch.

    Ok, so you answered my question in another video you put out about isolated versus non-isolated DC to DC chargers. (thank you for the reply).
    This video creates a new question. Does this unit eliminate the need for a separate DC to DC charger for running a line from my truck (starter) batteries to my trailer (house batteries), or do I need both? It might help if I list my goals.
    1. I want to have a 100AH lithium in my trailer that through an inverter runs the trailer (ac outlets, interior and exterior lighting).
    2. I want to have a small dual fuel generator I can plug into the trailer to charge the house battery but also serve as a capacity booster to the house battery if needed .
    3. I want to have a 30amp, AC shore power RV inlet that serves the same purpose as the generator input (indeed, it would be great to use the 30amp AC RV recep as the generator input point.)
    4. have a charging line from my truck starter batteries to my house lithium to charge it when I'm driving and as an emergency/redundant alternate charging source.
    I'm not planning on drawing a lot of power from my electrical setup. I'd prefer to keep things as simple as possible. From my subpanel (AC) I'm planning on one 30 amp breaker for 3 interior and one exterior receps, one 20 amp breaker that will run to a dedicated microwave recep., and one 20 amp breaker that will run all lighting (exterior/interior).
    Thanks again!

    Great video but if you take the inverter and a separate charger from Victron will that work

      @Aboutavan  Рік тому

      Hi Will, it will work but I would suggest running a separate circuit for hook up to ensure you’re not taking power from the battery via the inverter whilst it’s being charged

    Hi great video thanks I’ve just subscribed. I’ve recently had a Victron 1200w charger fitted with 2 lithium iron x 100ah batteries and 380w of solar. I’m living in my van full time and wanted a multi plus 3000w inverter charger but the installer said I didn’t have enough space under the seat being where the inverter had to be sited at the front of the van. I’ve never been happy with the limitations this places on me off grid especially when I see great units like the multi plus which I thought could go in the garage. Please could you put a link up to your kit as I’d be very happy to give you some commission in return for your no commitment advice. The more I think about it the more I’m leaning towards they sold me what was easier for them to install. I’m in an 2022 Adria Compact. Thanks in advance 👍

      Hi Kev, glad you found it helpful! :-) when you say a 1200W charger are you referring to an inverter/charger or charger only? The issue you have when you go for a 12v 3000w inverter charger is cable runs, they're beasty units! they need 2 x 50mm2 cable for negative and positive connections - if you want you can email me @ whitbread.adam@gmail.com to discuss further.

    Hi .. great video thanks... thinking of investing in one of these Victron Mutiplus inverter/chargers but wondering if you know if they will run of a standard UK hook up cable or do you also have to invest in a bespoke Victron hook up cable. They are quite expensive £200+ ... any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Hey there, they look fancy for sure, but I wouldn't personally spend £200 on a hook up, there are many other options on the market that do the same thing for under £20.00!

    Hi really useful video thanks for posting. I have a Adria Compact motorhome recently fitted out with a Victron solar set up of 380w panel, 1200 inverter and MPPT 100 1 30 controller. It cost just under £3.5K and altho it works fine I was told it wasn’t possible to put a Victron Multi Plus Inverter/Charger because of limited space under the driver seat which is where the inverter is sited. I live in the van full time and disappointed not to have a multi plus I/C. I understand the reason for it being sited next to the two lithium iron 110a batteries under the passenger seat. I’m very interested in your compact multi plus set up and would gladly buy one from you if it fit under the driver seat to replace the 1200 inverter. What are the compact dimensions please?

      @Aboutavan  Рік тому

      Hi Kev, ironically the compact models are slightly larger than the normal Multiplus in the plastic cases, I’d also be more included to mount the compact in a vertical position not horizontal due to its mounting points, the main consideration is airflow and heat as these units considerably reduce in efficiency the warmer they get!

    Hi, I have a question. I have a boat with 12v 200ah * 4 LiFePo4 batteries. I need a new battery charger, and want to combine it with the the inverter. I’m thinking of multi plus II 3000VA 12V 85 amps. I think it charges at 85 Ah? Is it big enough for 800ah? can I go totally off grid, meaning, does the inverter work stand alone without shore power plugged in? I want to be able to get 2000watt from the multi plus inverter without shore power charging.

      And I also have lead batteries in the starter battery and in the bow thruster.. but the house batteries will be lifepo4.. Do I need to keep the old lead acid battery charger and create 2 different circuits? Or can everything run via the multi plus ? Cause the battery profile would differ…

    • @Aboutavan
      @Aboutavan  Рік тому

      Hi Rob, I’d have to check specs on the 3000 however if it states 85 for charging that’ll be the max charging current it can provide to your battery bank, if your batteries were around 20% full then I’d expect the bank to charge to around 100% in around 12 hours if you’ve got 800ah. The MP works as an inverter when off grid and when on grid or generator are connected it switches to allow the power source to power your system and begins charging your bank. You also have power assist with these units so if your generator can only provide 10A at 230v but you need 16A then it’ll take power from the batteries to assist with that load.

    • @Aboutavan
      @Aboutavan  Рік тому

      You will set the charging profile to lithium on the multiplus, if you want to ensure the batteries in the bow are charged you could install a DC-DC charger like the Victron Orion to allow your other batteries to charge via your bank.
