When I saw the dress on Penelope I was like, "that is so awful it's beautiful?" She looked like a rainbow doiley. Your quilt is lovely and I would NEVER pick the fabric or flower patches in a million years, but much like Penelope, it just works. I cannot wait to see it on your wall!!!!! Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm and process.
Sandy you are adorable! Your infectious enthusiasm for all things quilting inspires me every time I watch one of your videos! I haven't actually seen this series but I would say that your interpretation was spot on! Great job! Definitely love the fabric with the beautiful bird
I love your enthusiasm for your projects. I don’t always agree with your design choices, but I really enjoy watching you put things together. I think this time I would have used the hexis, not in the traditional flower style, but as single hexagons as the flowers. The fabric colors and patterns could have provided the floral feel, I think. Maybe someday I will try it.
Hi. I think that's a very good thing and very common amongst creative people, if what we do is a representation of ourselves, naturally we would do different things 😁 I think the hexies could work with the right fabrics. I clearly didn't have the right ones and I loved that the flowers, while colorful, actually gave the eyes some rest because they are solids. I didn't want to take away from the gorgeous quilt fabrics and felt that anything that had a pattern did that. Have a great day!
My favourite fabric strip is number 2 but I love a couple of others as well. Your quilt is beautiful and will look lovely up on your sewing room wall. I love the colours, the flowers, the sheer vibrancy of it all. Makes me feel happy and smiley.
Such a wonderful quilt and I love how it ties to your inspiration! I was completely pulled in as soon as you made the inspiration connection. Would you consider adding a ribbon/lace strip across the top half? Would there be any drawbacks? I was thinking it could be the last detail that would undeniably tie the quilt to her lovely dress. How would you go about attaching it if you did?
That would be an awesome ideia! Because I knew I would be adding a lot of flowers I kept it simple but if you use less flowers or smaller ones a lace strip or a ribbon would be perfect. You could add it to the top like the dress or even the middle. Hand most flowers on top of it and then let smaller flowers drip from it. Love it!
Ok You are so able to think outside the box. I was hooked with your color choices if you had done nothing further than the QAYG. However the applique flowers (I didn't know they existed) were the best. Another different idea could have been adding the flowers from the bottom and making a field of wild flowers. Maybe even some of the teals at the top to make sky. I look forward to your videos. Thank you again for sharing. P.S. thanks for update on Mrs. Quilty upgrading their fabric. I had heard that several had concerns with the fabric. I usually don't order boxes as mostly I wouldn't use the odds and ends that are sent but these boxes have very usable additions.
Can you tell me the yardage of the fabric. I went online to check out the boxes and can't find if they are fat quarters or smaller or if they vary with the boxes.@@seweasybysandy
You could make it a field of flowers as it is by simply turning it up the other way. Awesome idea❤ I'm going to track down some of those flowers and do something similar to make an indoor garden I don't have to remember to water😍💐 Absolutely love your ideas, Sandy. They are ones I would love to get my children doing, I can't think of anything better to excite their imagination as they are small, real projects that are so very doable for even a child. I want to start with the Tetris and waterfall ocean scene you have in the background. Although I was thinking for the Tetris to cut felt shapes that they can position. It would make it kind of 3D and add a bit of fun texture. Love your videos❤❤
Thank you. Let me look at it, it wasn't a line, it's a mix. I know there's some freespirit fabrics, Anna Maria Horner of course! I'll add to this list later with what else I've got on there.

I have been looking for the perfect quilting subscription box and I thought that I had found it in Mrs. Quilty. But, alas, they do not ship to Canada.
Ah, that's too bad! They're making some changes to their service so maybe they'll do something about that soon 😄

Lord, stop talking about Penople! And other nonsense! I can't kill this much time to see how she makes it. It is torture!
