I took my 2 1/2” strips, sewed them end to end and made a jelly roll quilt. I had several of the same fabric, just mixed them up and it was interesting to see the fabrics pool-much like variegated yarns do. Mine was more scrappy, less planned.
I watched other UA-cam videos on potato chip quilts and it is so much fun. I am on my third quilt and using up lots of scraps. I use a large square in the middle and layer on the potato chips in compatible colours. Great lap size.
It's a lovely quillt. Love the colours. And Sandy ,you're so right. My son and I just buy second hand clothes.👍. And I use them also for the quilts.safes a lot too. LG
Thanks so much for this great idea. I so enjoy making table runners and even vests from simply pieced 2 1/2 inch wide pieces. I feel like I'm doing a picture using fabrics in the design. I appreciate your idea in how to put together and organize how to use them. Shalom. Maire
Our guild makes 25x25” quilts for a local hospital nursery. They also take 25x30”. They use them in the bassinets or to cover the incubators for NICU babies. Or give it to a little girl for a doll bed. Thanks for sharing! 💚

I have been on the quit smoking adventure now for close to 2 months. When I started I decided that I had to do something with all my scraps. And I had to keep myself busy lol. I took my scraps cut them into 5 x 2 in pieces and started sewing and I didn't stop. My quilt top is now 192 inches long and 82 inches wide lol. Unfortunately I had to start new projects and have more scraps. My daughter and I will be taking the "quit quilt" as we call it outside to lay out and cut into 2 quilts lol
Hi my name is Chrisy i like the way you make the simplest easy quilts they are so pretty. I like to sew as well i have made little tote bags and small projects. Anyone thinking about getting a thermal printer just keep in mind it is not useful for anything you want to keep long term.. think about store receipts they fade. So while it may seem convenient it's not
Suggestion for the ultimate scrappy quilt ... make a play pad for baby's tummy time. Beauty is not the goal. Visual and tactile interest is. So go for a maximum of contrast in shapes, colors and pattern. Play with embroidery, add appliques, whatever ... just so long as it is 100% safe to put through a washer and dryer (repeatedly) and also take care that all materials are safe to chew and that none of the fun extras can come off. E.g., appliques yes, buttons no. I have ten grandkids and have made a number of these. Trust me. They can be ugly as sin, but if they're fun to look at and touch, the babies will love them long after they need them. One of mine is so beloved, it got hung up in the "baby's" bedroom when he was in high school. By his request! A few tips ... tummy time play pads need washing frequently to remove spit up, drool, etc. etc. I find batting just doesn't hold up, so I prefer to use one or two old bed sheets instead. The other issue I saw when my kids were little is that when they begin to try and crawl, tummy time blankets bunch up and hinder their progress. So I go for more stiffness in the final project than I would like for a blankie. Also, I use flannel for the backing. It doesn't help much on bare floor, but it is brilliant on carpeting. The flannel and the carpet kind of hold on to each other, giving baby more freedom to move around. If you know it'll be used on bare floor, consider using a new, cotton canvas drop cloth. Just find a balance between big enough and stiff enough to work well and too big and too stiff to fit in the washer/dryer!

Is this very expensive to use Pinky? I would love this printer. I have the tiniest amount of scraps. Its laughable actually. But im trying to make more by making my very first quilt. Its hard cuz im 75 and never quilted in my life. Wish me luck Sandy. You are my hero.
Hi. Not at all! The paper lasts a very long time and it's not expensive at all! And neither is the printer itself. Plus, since it's thermal, you don't need ink, so it's even better because ink cartridges are so expensive! Best of luck and happy quilting! I'm rooting for you 😁
Scrap Solutions: it is all about pre-organizing bins first, prior to sewing! Have bins at the ready!!! Label, then stack them up! After a quilt is created, put scraps into bins for scraps that are from the same "lines" of fabric...then - keep scraps in themes (animals, holiday, Christmas, kids, asian, batiks, food themed, dots, stars, civil war, etc.)...then have ColorWay bins...one for blue, green, brown, pink, white, black, etc... Right after creating a quilt...don't precut scraps into specified shapes and lengths... just put the scrap into its bin with the rest of its family. Do not keep a massive empty bin, and keep adding to it, until it overflows...too overwhelming when the time comes to deal with it... one needs to Deal With It, right from the Get Go! As you Go! But that can only happen if you have a plan in place!

Yeah, thermal printing fades in like a year or so, but I don't think these are meant for long term stuff anyway...
