Unreal! I’ve never targeted flounder before, but I just signed up for a local derby and I’m now cramming in all the knowledge I can before the weekend. Thank you for all the information you share on your channel!
Absolutely amazing video! So much life and fish behavior that we don't see or understand. Seeing the fluke's reaction to the bucktail/gulp vs the strip was my biggest takeaway. Also fascinating to see how many fish look at the strip and don't eat it. Thanks again John!
Wow John! This was a real treat, I thoroughly enjoyed it!!! Fished for fluke on my kayak the last two days here on Staten Island with nothing but a few cocktail blues hitting my gulp, this video is inspiring to say the least! Keep em coming, thanks!!!
Just unbelievable video! This is the best yet! What's funny is what's happening in the mind's eye of the fisherman, has nothing to do with what's actually happening on the bottom. All I can say is " More, More, Please!
John, All your previous videos are great. I've learned so much from them as well as reading all your books. Now with the addition of the wolf cam, your videos are next to none. I look forward to seeing additional footage to enhance what I've learned from your videos and books. I look forward to meeting you one day on the surf.
Several fish over ten pounds that I have taken opted for the bucktail and Gulp! over a live bait (bergal) that was sitting in the adjacent rod holder. I really hope you get an opportunity to drop this down over an active bunker school at some point.
I have learned so much watching this. Thank you! It confirms what I have felt on my line so many times but could not see. And lost of course. I think I can anticipate what is happening so much better now.
John......I know it's an older video , but pleae , if you get the time.....do some more! Has to be one of , if not the best under water cam video I've ever seen! Thank you!
Wow John, this was one of the best fishing videos i have every seen. Keep up the good work. This explains why the big flounder always went for my friends bucktail over my spearing
Share this man's videos viewers and don't forget to buy the book. My son did and all the info in it, takes a lifetime to compile. Peace Out Mr. Skinner.
Great video. Fished for with my father for fluke for years, starting in the early 70s. Had great success using pork rind and live killie combo bait on a 2 foot leader, one foot above the sinker.
I am in NE Florida and have been catching flounder from 14" to 26" since August. I have learned how to not lose them more than anything. Recently have been setting the hook in them. This is an amazing video!!!
John, I have to give you tons of credit, you certainly know how to find fish. The vids are great. Seeing that many fluke together, makes me think the fishery is on the comeback. Showing the swimming towards you after hooked is classic as I have been surprised more than once with these slick bastards. Thanks for the vid and fish on!
I have been looking for feeding information on flounder and this is fantastic. This explains a lot, I fish flounder in the UK and the behaviour appears the same, sometimes you just don't know their hookedWould love to see gurnard and dogfish feeding behaviourKeep up the good work
What an awesome video! I can't seem to find flounder anywhere. Only caught two ever and they were on accident. I'd love to learn how and where to fish them
thats a nice fluke too this video is making me very aggravated like i usually get fluke fishing lol thanks john great video. im having a decent year so far and its do to a lot of what i learnd from your books and vids
Now THAT is cool! I've flounder fished all my life and this is the first time I've ever seen a flounder hit underwater. Their behavior after the strike tells me I need to set the hook as soon as they hit if I'm fishing jigs or lures with multiple hooks. Live bait? Do a live bait video! ;) Awesome stuff. Keep it up!
This camera would be great to see on a bucktail rig fishing a rip for bass... Reefs are slow on the north shore of Long Island Sound here in CT as of 5/29. Saw a lot of boats dragging strip baits off of Greenport over the weekend not sure how they fared. Another great video please keep them coming. Anyone watching these videos that hasn't read John's books yet needs to read them. I learned more in reading one chapter of one of his books than I could learn in 5 season of fishing.
Great video. Do you have any videos of winter flounder. I want to show my wife how their eyes move around almost like “radar”. I don’t know if the winter flounder come in to where you are. The Jersey Shore estuaries are loaded with them in the fall. Thanks
Love fluke fishing. That buck tail setup is exactly what I use but here in jersey we fish a little deeper water and use anywhere from 1oz-8oz bucktails on the bottom. Surprisingly small fish will still hit the 8oz buck tail
the flounder is a surprising fish. Them being flat with two eyes on top i always saw them as being this kind of derpy fish but they are surprisingly quick and hit that bait pretty hard at times.
I'm used to fishing those on land in long island, 2oz sinker with bloodworm on a straight shank. If you put tension on the line, when you get a hit you'll actually see the line loose tension. When you set the hook they will curve their tail downward and dig in the sand.
John In the later part of the summer I usually fish deep water and big current three ounce buck tails do not hold I have noticed Fluke generally do not like heavier bucktails
thanks for the info. I did not think flounder followed the bate or lure that way. I always thought they layer on the bottom and did an ambush while moving only a foot or two
At 5:36 that fluke getting yoinked out of frame made me LOL, great stuff John.
THE BEST video on fluke fishing ..This explains more in 12 minutes then any book could.. Thanks John
The Squid at 5:50 is one of the coolest things i've seen.
Unreal!

Thank you! I learned so much by getting the opportunity to watch the fish's behavior! Can't wait to hit the water again!
This video is 7 yrs old but it’s the best video I’ve seen yet 🙏🏾💯 very helpful
Best video ever! Great to see what is actually going on down there!
This is the best video i have seen showing fluke behavior. It answers many questions of what is happening at the other end of my line. thanks.
Awesome footage, seeing those Flounders on the hunt gave me a new perspective of how wild things down there really are, thank you for sharing.
Excellent video and you do a great job!
Wow John! This was a real treat, I thoroughly enjoyed it!!! Fished for fluke on my kayak the last two days here on Staten Island with nothing but a few cocktail blues hitting my gulp, this video is inspiring to say the least! Keep em coming, thanks!!!
this is great information and science for the community. much love from the south shore

AWESOME underwater footage!! I love fluke fishing, and to see this view is just incredible. Great job!!
I have learned so much watching this. Thank you! It confirms what I have felt on my line so many times but could not see. And lost of course. I think I can anticipate what is happening so much better now.

John that is too cool for words. Good job and keep up the good work, on a rainy day i'd rather watch your videos than to go after them
