My husband came home from a day of fishing w 3 good sized flounder. It was hot & he was tired so he asked me to take them to a fish market to get them cleaned. As I had NO idea about that, I watched your technique, sharpened a fillet knife & filleted them. I went a little deep on my first try, but after that, it went good. I took LOTS longer than you, but at 73, I do everything slower! My only concern is I’ll become the filleter!!! Thanks for the great video!
My wife and I are both 73 years old. Nothing is too difficult for us. God Bless from Florida.
@@TheCrunchbirdgod bless also from florida 25yrs
I tried his technique. It worked great!!!! Easier then quartering it. Tried it for speed on the second attempt. I can now only count to 9.
renaissancemen1 what 😂
renaissanceman I’ve read this comment at least 20 times and I just now, almost a year later, understand it.
Lol
Renaissance Man Lmao!😂😂😂

Wow! I've watched a lot of folk thinking they are good at filleting flat fish but this guy is the best of them all. No waste, real clean job and fast. Hats off to you Sir.
It is so nice to see someone that is fast AND not leaving half the meat on the carcass. Great job.
Best flounder fillet video I've seen yet. A lot of ppl use dull knives and it just tear up the meat
Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed our video.
What is the brand of your filet knife?
Nice to see a guy who can fillet flat fish, the right way ! 😊
Razor sharp knife on the steel, it cuts lovely
This has got to be the most efficient way of filleting fluke. Like a boss. nice job man
Thank you, I will let Sean know.
Summer flounder*
alex kyte fluke
Gotta have a knife as sharp as his. Very impressive.
I bought a 9” for this lesson and it worked like a charm because it was sharp out of the box but keeping it sharp for the long haul is not always easy at least not for me.
You have real talent! It usually takes me at least 5 minutes per fluke. Thank you for the lesson.
Awesome! Thank you! Someone just brought me a fresh flounder and I’m going to cook it for lunch.
thank you so much for this, my dad had bought flounder for us to cook for lunch and I had no idea how to fillet it. However, through this tutorial, some improvising, and the grip strength of which would bring fear to the eyes of most, I was able to get a decent fillet :)
Fabulous video guys. Great instruction, camera and audio work along with the mad filleting skills. Thanks for sharing.
Happy you liked it.. Thank you... :)
Are you for hire ?
for?
How to clean a catfish
Yeah... that's the way you do it. So many other sites show it in totally more difficult ways. Your way is the way I used to do it when I lived in Eastern Long Island... with doormats!
thanks it took me like 15 minutes to do just one this will cut down my time by over 95%
When someone says let the knife do the work.... that knife they're using is SHARP AF
WOW! when I thought you were going to waste a lot of meat doing that but I stand corrected!
+Preston Bozeman no big deal other animals steal our prey.
I just finished teaching someone how to filet a flounder. I end up with four separate filets. Two from each side. I truly wish I had seen your video 1st. I can now give them your option for two larger filets. Your video was straight to the point.
Thank you kindly for the instruction!! My first time ever filleting a fluke, and it was perfect!! No speed, but definitely precision. The only thing that would have made it a bit “easier” is if my knife was sharper. Tight Lines! 🎣
Very impressive, I would take a finger off moving that fast.
Lol😂😂
I was waiting for it
Probably only once. Probably.
I haven’t filet a flounder/fluke in 15 years +. I just seen this one video and it’s like butter. works perfectly. I do recommend the sharpest longest filet knife possible. curved and able to bend. Thank you !!!
This Guy is so Smooth, Awesome Work‼️😂
Great job, very impressive, your knife is sharp which is necessary for doing a clean fillet. That where many people have trouble, and also they don't have a good method like you use. Thanks for sharing and showing your great skills.
Amazing tips, will try that this evening.
Thank you and we are glad you enjoyed the film.
Master of his craft, so cool to see how it's properly done and so effortlessly. I took like 10 minutes on 1.
best fillet technique I have ever seen. U make it look way easy..Sure u need a darn sharp knife to go with it..Good job!
Nicely done!! I grew up in Huntington but now live on the west coast. Seeing a master fillet a fluke was good to see. I caught some nice ones on the southshore in 2013. Out here I target the King Salmon, halibut, spriped bass, and albacore. Did you know that someone transported 100 striped bass in a tank on a train from New Jersey and planted them in San Francisco Bay in the late 1800's during the gold rush? We are having one of the best bass seasons in decades. I miss the fluke fishing and little neck clams. Ed
Caught a 20 1/2 inch flounder yesterday...gonna try this method!
let us know how it works out.. Thank you for watching.
Crazy knife skills! Great job!
Kevin Wright Kevin, Sean is like a Ninja with his filet knife. Glad you enjoyed our video..
As soon as he started talking I knew it was gonna be good video lol. Sean LOW is a PRO 😅
This way seems so much easier than all the other videos on the same subject here on UA-cam. Can't wait to try it.
While Sean makes it look easy...it takes some practice and a VERY sharp knife. But with his method and practice, you can get some impressive results.
I cut out the part where he spends 5 minutes sharpening the knife, in hindsight I wish I had left it in!
Chasin' Tail TV thanks again for posting and great point. I have no illusions that I'll be able to fillet a flounder in 15 seconds without a ton of practice. But, compared to the other videos this one seems to have the fewest cuts.
Dudes a beast with those knife skills!
Best method to fillet a halibut! Fast and furious!
You sir are a fish cleaning artist ! Bravo
Still the best fluke fillet video. Just like the mates do it on the party boat!
Great vid. I learned it perfectly thanks to your clean and straighfoward method and instruction. You rock, thanks from Houston. 🐟🔪
So glad to hear that!
Thank You R G
That was amazing, a master at work. Good catch as well
This guy is good. No wastage at all
WOW!!! I just don't know what else to say but WOW very impressed!!!
That is the most impressive fillet job ive ever witnessed! Im a fillet snob too
This guy is my hero!
could you tell me what kind of knife you used , I like it because it appears to be more stiff than the usual blades I see cutting fluke
Fastest way to fillet a flounder I ever saw. I noticed your knives are very sharp. Can you do a video on how you sharpen your fillet knives and what knives you are using.
Thanks!
We can do that for you.
Thanks, much appreciated.
Still waiting on this request...Thanks!
@@FishingLongIsland - would still like to see a video on knife sharpening, please.
Greg H I will have ralph take care of that.
This one is the best!
Nice work sean,,, you going Hollywood
KNIFE SKILLS , ONE WORD AWESOME ! ! ! THANKS
Thank you for watching. Yes, Sean is a Ninja with that blade. LOL..
Fishing Long Island ABSOLUTELY !
REALLY ENJOYED IT.
YOU'RE QUITE WELCOME SIR
That's impressive. You should include a demo after you've taken the fillet off showing exactly how you're positioning the knife along the backbone.
I will talk to Sean and see if we can get that done this year for you. Thank you for watching.
I never new how to cut fish but thank you 4 this video I have some now n I'm try ur way
the best part about is there is no waste great job !!!!
+deesterdee123 Makes ya wanna break out the skillet and get the frying going.. Glad you liked the viideo
+deesterdee123 it's not the knife, it's the player. . .
SURGEON!!! Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's a clean cut!
The best technique ever. + respect
That's a beautiful thing to watch. Nice skills there brother.
Damn, that's some knife work there.
Great skills Sean. nicely done
Best technique hands down
That fillet time is insane!
Nice job mate. Hello from NZ. Keep up the good work :)
Nicely done, it is good to see someone making video that can fillet properly, rather than some butchers hacking away at fish leave a load of flesh on the bones.
By the way, we pronounce fillet as fill it not fill ay.
Thanks for the video
this guy makes it look easy
14 seconds. Amazing!
He's an absolute savage
Hey guys, great material. I watched every Fluke fishing video that was posted. Great tips and techniques. I would like to make a highlight reel which would include me using all of your Fluke fishing videos. Meaning, I would take small clips from each video to make an educational UA-cam video. May I have you permission to do this?? Thanks! Tight lines.
Rip never got permission

The key is that knife! Super sharp haha. Thanks a lot
I kinda regret not showing the literal three minutes Sean spend sharpening his knife on a stone. Some people pick up a dull knife, then can't understand why they can achieve similar results. You should literally sharpen the knife EVERY time you clean some fish.
Those ribbons make delicious sushi.
Nice Job Sean!
That right there is an art form.
DAMN YOU MAKE IT LOOK WAY TO EASY. GREAT VIDEO MAN THANKS FOR SHARING
inside voice please
Nice, now I need to spend a whole day after them, wife loves flounder
This was sooo awesome. Can you tell me what kind and size of Fillet knife you use? Thanks!
Damn clean fillets. 👍
Damn you make that look easy
gordon ramsay looking this video like 👀
That's brilliant !
Awesome teacher!
Insane very impressed. You Sir have skills.
I so wanna try this!❤ great job!
Great video, well done! I wish I could filet a fish as easily as he makes it look, haha.
Same here dude
Thank you so much for this video. I would like to know two things what brand of fillet knife is that what size and how in the world do you keep that sharp?
Wow dude that was impressive
Thats exactly how I filleted Fluke when I worked as a Mate back on Long Island. You had to be fast and efficient when cleaning up to a couple of hundred fish per trip. Only thing I would disagree on is those ribbons U cut off to use for bait are some of the most tender parts of the filet. I always tried to filet my fish and keep those as part of the filet. You only need the Skin to use as bait.
Thanks for this! 👍
That was smooth
Very clean cuts 👌👌👌
This is fantastic. Thank you! Can we get Sean to teach us how to filet some other fish as well? Like striped bass, black fish etc. Inland Long Island Sound fishing.
I'm not a fisherman but I once caught a big red drum. Didn't know what to do next so I beat it to death with a board. Bloody mess. Then I tried to fillet it. When I was done I had about two tablespoons of usable fish. Probably should have watched a video like this one.
the ribbon is the best part~! its like halibut toro
we use it for bait..
Hi Capt. Sean--I'm looking to buy that same fillet knife and give your fillet process a try. Can you please let me know if that knife you're using to fillet that fluke is a Dexter Boning #1378 (8") or is it the #1377 (7"). Thanks--just want to get it right the first time for a change.Rob
Beautiful !!!
I take out cheek meat, I also leave skin intact as it hold moister for cooking and its crunch :)
love the cheeks to
Nice work. I kept the ribbons and ate them.
Awesome! How many did it take to get that good?
dudes a pro damn ! like butter!
He really is a Ninja..
Yah...Sean is the real deal.
beautiful filleting skills
Much respect
Nice skinny flexy blade. Pretty to watch!
The ribbons the best bit
That's cool man.
DAMN!! boss status👍👍 great job have a flounder right now!! Come here🤣
Great job
thank you. I will let Sean Know.
Thanks for the video 😁👍
I used to work at a seafood wholesaler, we would fillet an average of three to five hundred pounds of flounder a week.I was about as fast as you, but the Man who taught me how was George Alford (RIP) he was at least twice as fast, but he cleaned fish all day six days a week.
Awesome! Thank you!
