Bella Thedoggo if you think Americans are bad about putting fish in small container wait until you see what the Chinese and Japanese do. There are entire neighborhoods in China that are wall to wall fish shops as far as the eye can see and the shops are full of fish in cups and bags and giant fish pack in little tiny tanks. They might have 10 arowana stuffed in a 5 gallon tank and there's a whole wall of them.

I actually got my baby betta fish at a similar size. she was a little bigger but I decided to save her because a 5-year-old kid picked her up to buy her and as soon as the kid set her down I snatched her. I know for a fact a 5-year-old couldn't properly take care of a betta fish so small. I have had her since January now and she is enjoying her 5.5 gal tank.

Quick Question, i had a fry along time ago that my breeder buddy gave me. And i fed it pellets, Obvi not whole pellets i sat down for like a half hour slicing the pellets with a small knife so that the pellets are small enough that the betta can swallow it without problem. So can that be a substitute for betta fry or nah?

It is awesome that you want to do the research before diving in! There are tons of videos out there, so my suggestion would be to compare at least three sources on each topic and not depend on just one source. I’m sure Planet Fishness would do an excellent beginner guide to baby bettas, but everyone does things a little different and you should find what works best for you and your future betta. Best of luck to you!

I bought 1 about that size at Petco. It was maybe a few days older but I was not able to get it brine shrimp. It did pick at crushed flake food but not enough. I did get it to eat bug bites which are like super tiny crumbles. Unfortunately she still passed away after only about 2 weeks because she was sick but due to her tiny size & how young she was I couldn't safely treat her with anything. She did show improvement before passing but she was only about 4 wks old & no way to see what was wrong other than swimming seemed like too much work for her & she always sat at the top of the fake plants at the surface of the water. I even had to lower the water to just over a quart to make it easier for her.

Good luck with your new baby! *LAUGHS at the turkey baster* I use a turkey baster to clean out my bettas' tanks. It works really well. What I do is fill up a plastic cup with the dirty water, give it to my plants, and then pour a cup of clean water in. I only take about an 1/8 to a 1/4 inch of water out & they've been doing fine. I have gravel in my tanks & I can get the baster right in there to clean the stuff that collects on the bottom between the gravel pieces. You can get them in the supermarket for a couple of bucks. I was hoping to find them in the dollar store, but they only carry them around Thanksgiving.

My thing with “saving” fish is that you’re still purchasing it, therefore increasing demand. If there is demand for an animal, as good as it may feel to give said animal a good life, they’ll just replace it with another one. I feel like this is important for you to mention in these kinds of videos, because while you have a platform and can educate people on why buying fish from chain stores isn’t ethical, other people don’t, so when they “save” fish, they’re really just dooming another to the same fate.

Maybe you could try a syringe (not the injection but the one to give liquid medication to kids. They have those for free at some pharmacies and you can change them often if they get dirty

PLEASE stop “rescuing” animals from chain pet stores! Stop buying from abusive situations! For every one you buy, they order two more and the cycle continues! It’s a sad thing to see, but STOP putting your money into those places!

k but she’s saving that one it doesn’t really matter for every one that dies they order another

elysian my point is that if people can be responsible and boycott the abuse chain pet stores put animals through, it wouldn’t be an issue. “Rescuing” one is just going to put more in that same bad situation.

That little betta fry was so tiny! I breed Betta fish and that little baby should not have even left his spawn tank away from siblings. Also for how small could have bought some microworms or vinegar eels, some kijiji (community sell page) could sell beginner cultures and could pick them up same day or next day, depending on the seller. Also random fun fact, wild bettas even captive bred will almost always hide. Captive bred bettas (Not wild) won't hide as much but they do love lots of live plants to feel safe and happy, plus provides some shade from the tank lights because betta fish are pretty sensitive to bright lights. You're videos are really good and the rescue fish videos are my favourite.
Alssooooo..., 😂🤗 the straw lol awwwe. Hey! For being so small too, could use a pipette for the food.

This is a great video but it's not the best idea to save a fish from a abusive petstore because they will see that there are more sales so they will start to buy even more fish and abuse them and the cycle keeps repeating so the best thing to do is to boycott these type of stores.

I bought 2 albino corys who were the last ones in the tank and they had no fins they were obviously very scared cause they were hiding and they looked so sick. So I bought them and when I had the lady get them for me she said they'd only live a couple of days and asked me many times if I was sure I wanted them. Of course I wanted them because if they stayed there they would have died. I've had them for a couple of months now they're double the size and have all their fins again. They're enjoying life with my 2 balloon Molly's and will soon have a 3rd because I bought a pregnant molly. I've also thought about getting 2 more Cory's but I have a male and female so I think I'm going to leave them and see if they do have babies. Since I had to raise a balloon molly from newborn to about a month old (hes doing amazing and is going in soon) I'm quite confident in my ability to keep the little babies safe.

Kayla I need your help. I recently got a galaxy koi betta named Ozai. I have a 3.7 gallon tank. I asked my parents if I could get a 10 gallon tank. They said the one I have now is big enough. It’s not. I tried to convince them. I have roughly 100 dollars. What tank do you recommend that’s cheap enough and big enough? I get an allowance of 5 dollars ever week. Do you have any recommendations on decorations/enrichment for my fish? I also have 3 live plants, but do you recommend any? I have a java fern, a moss ball, and a plant on a rock. (I have no clue on what type of plant it is). I want my new betta to be as happy as possible, and not in a tiny tank.

If you have $100...you have WAY more than enough to get a 10 gallon tank. Any pet store will have them for probably as low as 10 bucks. You can get an entire cheap starter 10 gallon tank set up that has a filter, Hood, light, and even some decorations for like 20-25 bucks.
