This TMJ treatment can help relieve TMJ symptoms like jaw clicking, jaw popping, jaw pain, and deviations that are common with TMJ disorder. TMJ stretches & exercises around the joint should help relieve TMJ pain. Start off with a simple side bend of your head to help stretch out the muscles in your neck. You can follow these with some gentle active range of motion stretches.
Now you will do a TMJ massage for some of the muscles that become tight when you have TMJ dysfunction. These are the Masseter muscles and temporalis muscles
The final exercises are isometric jaw exercises.
These TMJ pain relief stretches and exercises should help relieve TMJ symptoms and relieve the jaw pain associated with TMJ disorder.

How often should I do these ? I’m 37 weeks pregnant and haven’t had a TMJ flare up until recently. The pain is almost unbearable.

@@Prettyluhsae. I figured mine out-- my jaw pain was coming from a wisdom tooth that had grown into the nerves of my jaw. Instant relief once they were removed and haven't had it since.

Dr. Jo, thank you! It's been 2.5 years that I'm suffering from TMJ and nothing seemed to work, not even the nightgard. I tried many exercices previously, but the one that you are showing in this video worked for me. I have less pain and I can yawn without holding my jar! Hii, I am from India and I had the same problem of Tmj pain. After practicing the exercises for 2 weeks that was provided in your video , my pain was totally relieved. @@dhruvtrivedi4197 No.. i did not had dislocation pain. But sometimes during that time when i would rapidly open my mouth , i would get a cracking or clicking sound. And that TMJ pain lasted for only 3-4 weeks.
When you push up on your jaw should your upper teeth be directly above your lower?

Dang I should've followed this exercise much earlier. I thought it wouldn't work, but I was wrong! I've been feeling uncomfortable for the last 2 months, but the pain went away after doing this exercise once. I can't express my gratitude enough. You're a life saver! God bless you🥰

@@naveenkumartalapaneni8085hi . I want to tell you that i was not having these issues before mewing. I start mewing and after some months i involved tmj issues. I support mewing community but the thing was that i was putting a lot of pressure at my teeth so be careful. So now i will stop mewing for a bit and i will see what i will do

I have had tmj issues since i was about 9/10 years old. They lessened for a few years but as of recently they are coming back as i have had to stop seeing my chiropractor and massage therapist thanks to moving. This video helped me immensely. Still some pain but i am able to be wayyyy more comfortable! A lot of these were things my chiro taught me to do at home and i forgot about over time! Thank you so much!

I've been suffering from a lot of tmj pain but haven't been able to go to a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment because of COVID shutdowns. I did the stretches in this video and 90% of my pain went away. I haven't been this pain free in months. Thank you!!

I turned on the video in tears. I always think resistance exercise can be great for recovery. Was able to open my mouth bigger in the end.
THANK YOU!!!!!! I feel some relief already! I do take 10mg cyclobenzaprine 1x daily, but after a particularly harsh dental procedure a cpl weeks ago I've been MISERABLE! I don't want to start taking more of the muscle relaxer or be taking OTC pain meds all the time. Your exercises seem to be helpful already!

Wow. No joke, I was having a pretty ugly headache but after the first set of stretches I got instant relief! I could feel the headache going away! I will definitely continue to do these stretches! I went to the dentist because my jaw was popping. She told me I had tmj last month, but I was skeptical because I wasn’t having headaches. She referred me to physical therapy but since I was skeptical I held off on it.. well my headaches started in the last couple of days :/ I’m so thankful for this video and these stretches from Dr. Jo :) I plan to follow up after a few weeks of these stretches for anyone else who may be having tmj pain.

@@jovan3607 Yes It did! I forgot to come back and follow up. These stretches did help relieve my bad headaches from TMJ. I stopped doing them because I stopped getting headaches (yay!) I should probably keep doing them though, my jaw started popping again recently while eating. The jaw-popping had also gone away for a bit.

I have had throat tension/spasming off and on for many years. I'm going to try your exercises, see if my pain is related to TMJ. I do have some TMJ; never been treated for it.
I've watched some of your videos regarding stress relief in the neck and shoulder exercises, Damn those work really good and I feel like my stress is decreased as I work out a lot. I finally feel a relief.

Ive been suffering with these headaches off and on for years! The pressure behind my eyes is driving me crazy. I just did these TMJ exercises and I feel some relief from the eye pressure. I go to a chiropractor and massage therapy. I’ve done physical therapy and acupuncture as well. I’ve got relief sometimes but I think stretching is very important as my shoulders and neck get very tight as well. Sometimes they last for a few weeks and ibuprofen doesn’t take the pain away. Just dulls it a little. I’m also doing your exercises for my SI joint pain. They are helping me so much. Thanks so much Dr. Jo. 💞

Thanks so much for this! Today's the second day in a row I've woken up in the middle of the night with my jaw locking every time I close it, and I have to painfully pop it open. The pop is so loud it makes my ears ring. These stretches helped relax it almost right away!

Yes. While the stretches offered almost immediate relief for my symptoms, I was still having a lot of issues with swelling and pain so I had to see an orthodontist to get the cause of my problems addressed. Did Invisalign, got that done, and now I I don't have any pain, and my jaw never locks
