I have a .22 Victory. If I hold the gun the way Jerry advises, and I agree with him as this is the best way to hold the gun, my support hand always seems to press against the magazine release and as I am firing the magazine drops out of the gun. To correct this I have to hold the gun with my support hand a little lower on the grip. This seldom causes a problem because of the reduced recoil of a .22. Regardless, Jerry is the best and I always take his advice and suggestions seriously. Jerry, you rock. Please continue with everything you do.

I was hoping for more in depth. I find recoil changes with the gun and load a great deal. Working on loads for a short barrel 357 I am on that learning curve. The little gun makes variations in ammo stand out. I think the little carry guns that seem to be everywhere take a whole re-learning of how to handle them. That first 1000 rounds it takes me to understand the gun I'm shooting.

You tend to twist your elbow to absorb the recoil. That's more of a revolver technique.
For me, .45 acp recoil is more "pleasant" than a 9mm.

Don't shoot above 44 mag. Do not want to start a flinch from shooting big magnums. Have no use for them. If my 41 mag won't work, I get my rifle.

If you must shoot one handed with a pistol, make sure you hold the gun sideways. It will eliminate muzzle climb.
