@@OurUpcycledLifeI wonder if the linseed oil you used on the rocker would have reduced the brittleness of the wicker on the sewing basket/planter? Or use the linseed oil to moisturise and when it dries off spray the lacquer over the top?
I doubt you will see my comment 8 months after the fact but if by chance you do I would love to know your experienced opinion on this suggestion.

I agree with painting the backs of everything. I used to sell lots of upcycled furniture in our store and always painted the back of every piece, otherwise it looks like you were just to cheap or lazy to do it, and it undermines the value of the piece and reflects badly on your attitude towards your work. Your endless ideas for everything of every size is very admirable.

Love your up-cycling techs. Remember you can use Lin seed oil on wicker too. When I seen you varnish over the wicker plant stand and not apply Lin seed brought the thought to me of using Lin seed to slow down the cracking while you were working on it.

I too just found a rocker!!! Free needs a little help as a slat is missing on the bottom so I have a large piece of tile cut to fit the seat. For the missing slat on the back I am just respacing the remaining ones. Add a hang pillow on the back and a lawnchair seat on top of the tile fits perfect. Wish I could share the photos !

Projects are great! Very clever! But what really impresses me is that you are painting in your "family room" with your new sweater on & there is not a drop of paint anywhere but on the project!!! Regarding stripped screw heads....I put a rubber band on between the screwdriver & screw & out it comes as the rubber grips the screw head! 🤗😁💕

I love ur channel & the many pieces u’ve up-cycled.
I’ve done a few wood burning projects in the past & I found that burning in the direction of the wood grain, the same as u would when u paint,
brings out the grain more evenly. Going against the grain gives u streaks. Ur piece did look so much nicer with the darker grain so it was a great choice.
Thank you for sharing ur creativity, I always enjoy watching u & amazed how the pieces have been transformed 💜

Rattan or wicker they are both plant based materials, have you thought of putting some jute twine in to replace the broken wicker parts adding the handle on the front was a great idea but instead of copper wire use the jute because jute is very durable and you can still have the handle as a usable and functional drawer pull. The Cabinet you painted under your tv turned out stunning sometimes it just needs a lick of paint to dress it up a little. I would have gone a dark navy blue colour myself but yours turned out great. I have never been a big fan of crackle finished or distressed things but on certain pieces it can give it a more updated look. I would have painted the whole cabinet turquoise myself the yellow is doing nothing for me i do not like that yellow colour but its your channel and your finds. This is the first time i have watched your channel and i am impressed with the way you do things, it reminds me of Debbie Travis in a way she did a lot of décor pieces and painting walls and things, i enjoyed most of her things too. I have seen the techniques you are using before and they are great techniques so i am intrigued to see what you do next. God bless you for sharing your knowledge and your expertise.
