Your cross-section explanation is really very good - makes perfect sense. Plus, I scarified last week, and my iron is being delivered today. Going to spray iron and fertilser tomorrow. Do I do another scarify pass when the (little) remaining moss is blackened? Then how long until I can seed?

what are your thoughts on products such as zero moss (contains 6% ferrous citrate), claims to kill all the moss down to the root, without requiring raking or further removal. I got into a debate with someone when I said they would need to scarify and aerate their lawn, since its ALL moss and very spongy thatch underfoot. I'm just learning and have seen lots of your videos which are very helpful, but I was unable to say wether the advice the person had been given by a professional. Thanks for any feedback

Liquid Iron yields almost instant results, the moss turns black in hours. I've tried using Moss-Ex granular but had terrible results. I've got a big lawn so I mix up 5 lbs of powdered Ferrous Sulfate (Iron) with about 25 gallons of water. It also turns the grass green within hours. The only downside is the iron lowers the PH of the soil which can cause the moss to return, so it works best throw down some lime too. Liquid aeration also helps the cause.

Dawn dish soap will also kill moss because the PH is so high. I wonder if it could be used as a type of surfactant with the iron spray that would it stick and also help neutralize the PH drop?

hi Robbie i killed the lawn by using weed killer on it, (lifted the wrong sprayer, thought I was feeding it). Its been dead now for about 3 months and this morning aerated it. Is it too soon to try reseeding etc andif it is, how long should i leave it. Also Ronnie are all iron sulfate powders soluable? Cheers Larry

Robbie, a new subscriber to your channel and picking up some very useful tips, thank you. My question to you is this. If I scarify and then apply moss treatment will I be able to then seed the grass. My lawn has never been done by the looks of it and we have just moved to this house. It is likely that there will be patches that I will need to reseed as there are big areas of moss. In this video you mention not to treat the moss if seeding as well. What would your advice be in this situation?

Great videos. Just purchased a house and the grass is battered. I’ve invested in a scarifier too. Here’s my questions I have bad moss in shady areas from tall laurel. What order do I do things?
Scarify now (March) then apply moss killer.
Then September overseed and top dressing? Or maybe another scarify before?
    Thanks!

Hi, wonderful videos! May I request a video of “do’s & dont’s treatments and time of year they should or should not be applied.” Also if you can mix certain treatments in the same watering can or sprayer i.e. seaweed and iron sulphate or iron sulphate on top of a slow release fertiliser or grass seed. I’ve also seen some UA-camrs adding washing up liquid but they just say add a little? Little means different things to different people, would you recommend the use of washing up liquid? 🙂🌸🌺🌻🌞

    • @Premier_lawns_official
      @Premier_lawns_official  2 роки тому

There are a few questions there
Products like seaweed and iron can usually be mixed together, although the water rates may be different so maybe not always the best idea
Always do a jam jar test, mix some up and see how it reacts. Also check the manufacturers guidelines.
I could never say for certain you can 100 percent mix A with B
Like for example mixing weed control with anything else. That's usually a no go but again depends on the products. How long is a ball of string
Washing up liquid can be used as a wetting agent, it does the same thing as a wetting agent, it breaks up the surface tension of the soil
But it's a detergent and has a negative impact on the soil so no strictly speaking shouldnt really be used

I saw your earlier videos, and was really inspired to take action against the moss in my backyard lawn. Our climate in Washington State, USA is very similar to Ireland; very damp. I had so much moss that I deeply scarified the lawn, and even though I removed more than O could imagine, I will have to scarify again to get the rest of the moss out because it was originally so thick. My question, which is the topic for another video, what needs to be done when reseeding the lawn after scarifying and aerating? Do I apply Iron or any other moss control products?
