    Did my parents lawns yesterday, 6mm depth, two lawns about 6m x 6m each, took two green bins of moss etc from it, going to mow them again today, to pickup any left over debris I missed, then going to put some moss killer on today, and just let it grow for a few weeks then just see how it goes and then feed and weed it in a few weeks and hope it comes better, my parents live to scalp the grass when they cut, so still trying to get through to them that a 1/3 is only needed when mowing, but have watched a few of your vids over the years and found them extremely helpful thankyou big guy… 🙏🏽👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

    Thank you for the great video! Seattle gets a lot of moss and most soil is acidic from coniferous trees, so in addition to thatching and aerating, we offer lime applications, as well as overseeding, fertilizer, and topdressing with a sandy compost mix.

      deep tine aerate, then core plug atleast 5" tines but 3" plugs should work gypsum 5%-10% and soil calcium/lime same thing. iron at about 3%-5% then add WASHED ocean sand and sweep into the holes. fertilize with seaweed. repeat every 3 years until your lawn looks healthy, then give it a 5 year break and see where it stands at that point.

    Wolf-Garten makes a nice wheeled hand scarifier, you can adjust the depth by adjusting the angle of the tool. The drawback is you need to buy the one-click handle separately, but if you own any tool from this brand you probably own the handle already. In Belfast, you can get them in Dundonald Nurseries.

    Hi Robbie
    I have a heavy moss lawn about 400Sqm. Plan is to first cut, then spray on iron sulfate. About 10 days later use a petrol scarifier, going a little deeper than just dethatching, then fill in holes and dips with top soil, rake, then reseed. To finish off lightly roll to compact, then spray with seaweed. Is this the correct order or any other pointers I should follow? I have watched your videos to gather the confidence to have a go myself. Cheers David

    • @neilfarmer6609
      @neilfarmer6609 7 місяців тому +1

      Hi David. That sounds like a great plan. I would give a short gap between applying iron sulphate and overseeding as iron may inhibit seedlings. Also, apply the seaweed at the lower rate on the label if doing so after seeding. Although seaweed is mild, seed is expensive so I’d go easy first application post-seeding. Good luck!

    • @Dirty-Hertz
      @Dirty-Hertz 7 місяців тому

      Personally, I would overseed and then apply the topsoil afterwards. The birds are gonna have a feast otherwise. Plus, you’ll want the seed to fall into the grooves made by the scarifier. You don’t want the seed just sitting on the top.

So is this Kissmygrass safe for pets (cats and dogs)?Some of our pets eat the grass so l am worried. Your spreading the moss killer onto the lawn. What do you think lm at my wits end deciding.
