I'm a new subscriber. Made these beans and was great. I'm gonna watch all your videos. I enjoy finding new recipes and canning ideas. Thanks for the video!!!
Exactly what I was looking for almost exactly like American test kitchens but wanted sweeter and yours adds a bit more brown sugar and that did the trick just the sweetness I was looking for worked out beautifully ty
I just made these. A couple things I didn't hear you mention was if you took the onion out or not. And if you drained the beans. I used same bean water for the crockpot. And am going to take the onion out. And hope that's what I'm supposed to do. These look delicious. Can't wait to try!!!!
Hi sorry I missed this, i do drain the water but yes the bean water is good too. The onion just ends up breaking up into nice chunks on the final stirs. Enjoy !
Yes I drain & use fresh boiling water but it is ok to use the bean water, it will give you a stronger starchy taste, I used a bean pot in the oven but it can be done in a crockpot, when i used it I believe it was on high for a few hours until some of the liquid evaporated then low for a few hours.
I do the "Overnight" soak. But I've never "simmered" on the stove top. Oh, if I'm in rush I've brought the whole pot to a mild boil just before putting it in the pre-heated oven. But, generally my beans bake in the oven ALL NIGHT LONG 🌙 About 10 or 12 hours. I keep a pot of HOT water on the stove top. Because IF you need to "add water" you NEVER add cold water. Only HOT ! Bake up either biscuits or Corn bread to go with those beans too!
I do not quite understand your question. The recipe is the way it is, :) the molasses sauce is mixed and poured into the beans with boiling water that is how it is mixed and stirring during the cooking time over hours which reduces and thickens the sauce, Thanks for the question though !
I made these beans on the weekend. Finally a great recipe, that brings back memories of visiting my grandparents, long ago. Thanks for this.
So glad you enjoyed them , I am soaking some beans overnight to make a different one from my grandmothers recipe.
The Nutcracker, Op. 71a: Waltz of the Flowers ..., someone likes making beans....

I'm making these right now ! After boiling, I put in crock pot for 2 days on low.
Sounds great Russ , I can smell the aroma, enjoy.
Made homemade beans before luv them
Thank you!!!
Instructions could be more detailed..did you drain beans before putting in crockpot? Was crockpot on hi or low to read 300.
Gonna try it. Looks good.

What does the butter do?
Adds fat & flavour . if you use bacon, salt pork you don't need it or use a table spoon of olive oil
If you use bacon.....do you cook it first or no? By the way this recipe looks amazing! I'm definitely going to try that this weekend❤❤❤
Bacon no, if I use salt pork yes just to brown and render some of the fat off
IT LOOKS GOOD BUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THESE WEREN'T MIXED SO ALL INGREDIENTS WERE EVENLY COMBINED?

😊😊😊EVERYTHING IS MIXED AT ..... 3:48....
Classic, but you really need salt pork, or bacon for that true "Boston baked beans" flavor.
