The only thing better than Karen Carpenter's voice was her drumming! John Bonham called her the best drummer of all time (a title usually given to him)
The two of you are why I so enjoy watching your reaction videos. It has always been apparent that you have a deep love for each other and you're very supportive of each other. It just shows in your interactions with each other. So it was cool to see the vulnerability expressed in this video. Authenticity. Love it...
This song means so much to me. Everytime I hear it I think about Alex, he passed away in 2010, he was an amazing man. I'm happy we had 7 amazing years together. He is my guardian angel now.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Your story got to me that I had to reply. I too know loss. It's so strange, bittersweet and yet so beautiful that in loss we feel a deep sadness and yet we also still feel a happiness and love that they still make us feel and their memories bring up the warm life that can never be matched more than the cold after. Amy is supposed to be a ghost, that's why she's always above the ground throughout this video, it's beautiful and creative and captures the melancholy of the song, and the black and white enhances that vibe even more, i love it, kind of an underrated rock classic from Evanescence.
@@wanderlustaesthete4117 You are correct. The father of the man playing piano had died. He & Amy wrote the song together, but most of the words are his.
I always took it as she was a ghost after falling from the ledge in Bring Me To Life, she is even laying on a car's roof, like that is where she landed.
I'm going to be one of those downer guys. I have always loved Amy Lee's voice and this song in particular over the years. Back in January I lost my youngest daughter and now when I hear certain lines of the lyrics in this song I immediately tear up. It's a beautiful song done by a talented beautiful lady ♥
Reading through the comments and seeing I’m not alone in the meaning of this song. When I married my first husband I was barely 19 and we had mental health issues. He was abusive as well but we loved each other so intensely. He passed away when I was 23 due to Epilepsy and he haunted me. His presence was always there. I’m just so young at the time trying to raise my 2 year old and 3 month old alone. I couldn’t take the dreams or nightmares as he watched over me. The constant presence. You know a lot of people say they can physically feel someone’s spirit, or smell them, or something significant will happen as a sign from them. Well all these signs were pushing me into a dangerous depression and I had to be present for my kids. So I wished as Amy says “you would just leave”. So I could feel some sanity again. The traumatizing scars from it all still exist but I haven’t felt his presence in decades 😔
I'm sitting here in a ball of tears...struggling to find that light at the end of the tunnel, but watching you admit to your own issues with mental health makes me feel that I'm not completely alone. Thanks for that.
This gets to me. I know my friend. It may seem that way because of separation but we're not alone in feeling and hopefully somehow and someway we'll all share healing and happiness.
Jay, you are NOT alone. I have battled the pain for decades, but there is always love and light. Need to talk? Hit me up anytime. That’s what the Rob Squad is about, love for one another.
I have had mental health and emotional struggles in the past, as most people will confront at some point in their life. The part of this song that always makes me cry is the "I've been alone, I'm alone!" part. Even though I am now in a very happy place, that still touches me. When I was is that dark place, a friend told me that I was "wrapped in a cloak of love and support that I did not even know was there. Take comfort from its warmth, for one day the sun will shine again and you will forget you ever needed it." It's true, the only time I remember the cloak is when I tell other's of its existence. Many, many people support you without you even knowing about it. The sun will shine again. Be patient and love yourself.
One of my favourite songs. If you like this I bet you'll love 'Broken by Seether feat. Amy Lee'. Back in the day the frontman of Seether and Amy Lee had a relationship, a destructive on (she wrote 'call me when you're sober' for a reason). That song is a ballad too, and I can hardly choose which song I like the most, both are outstanding.
One of my favorite songs. Yall gotta hear the version of this song without the drum drop with she's singing all alone. And it's just her voice. It will tear your soul apart. Just beautiful!
The song is based on a short story by former guitarist Ben Moody. Paraphrasing here: It’s about a spirit that stays with a loved one after death but not going away. Yet wishing it would leave.
Guys it's about her younger sister who passed away tragically really young. But this song can be taken in many different contexts, so it can definitely be a break up song, loss of a friend or friendship, loss of other family members. It's about grief. But she wrote this for her sister.
There is a band called Seether that has a song featuring Amy Lee. It's called "Broken". The voice of their lead singer, Shaun Morgan, is a perfect pairing with Amy Lee. I know you like live videos, but in this case I recommend the official video so you don't miss any part of the song. Good news is, you don't have to wait for a Female Friday, since it is a duet with a male! Also, I know y'all really liked Halestorm when you reacted to them/her and I just found a duet they did with Amy Lee called "Break In'. I think you will like it.
I think one of the most amazing aspects of Amy’s voice is that it can cut through anything. And that enabled her to mix heavy rock instrumentation with a beautiful love song. It’s borderline perfect.
I got to see them play live last month... And she still sounds just as good as she did almost 20 years ago! Also if y'all didn't know she's also the one that plays the piano
When this song came out, I had lost residential custody of my children. I lived in Virginia and my kids were in Kansas. My youngest was 5 years old and this became our song. When I was missing her I'd play this and she did too. One day on the phone she said, "Mom I can't listen to it because I cry when I hear it because I miss you." I was like, "It's okay baby, I don't want you to be sad and cry. Find a happier song to listen to." Now she's 25 and when we hear the song we both tear up and hold each other.
If you don’t at least get goosebumps from this song, or even shed a tear, you have no soul. Honestly that should apply to anyone, regardless of what music genre you typically stick to.
This song broke me the first time I heard it back when it was released, by the pure emotion evoked by Amy's voice. Every time I hear it, it breaks me again...and I want to keep listening to it, let everything flow & cleanse the soul.
Amy Lee is fantastic. This song is my favorite- so emotional. Another band with a female vocalist is Nightwish. Their vocalist Floor Jansen is insanely good. She does everything from death growls to operatic soaring vocals. She sings in multiple languages and just about every genre. Put her on the list for female friday you wont regret it. A good starting point is "Ghost Love Score". If you like blues music check out Beth Hart "Am I the One" Live at Paradiso. OMG - what a performance!
if you notice she was in a cemetery at one point. she says I try to tell myself you're gone but tho you're still with me, I'm alone. that means she can feel his presence. I have this " my immortal" tattooed on my arm with my son's name because he loved Evanescence. He killed himself 17 years ago. He was 15 years old. I love you Breck! 💔
She has one of the most beautiful voices I’ve ever heard… So Rare and So Talented… I can’t wait to hear what she does next… (not to mention she herself is Beautiful, nice to know the package matches the Soul)… I’m a Total Fan of Her… Her voice melts Souls…. XoXo
This song always makes me cry. My Immortal, my late husband who battled, struggled with addiction, and finally lost his battle in 2018. Always in my heart. I hope that finally, your precious soul is at peace, Babe.
Great reaction guys. I’m pretty sure she’s singing about her little sister who passed away 😞 it is a very emotional song. 👋🏼🙌🏼👍🏼👏🏼💜🇨🇦 P.S. never apologize for getting emotional on your reaction channel.
Agreed, Getting a little emotional just means the song really hit home as it was intended. Many of us have had some mental stuff happen in our lives, the important thing is we came out on the other side a better, more understanding person more in touch with society and with respect for everyone. You should never feel you have to keep this stuff a secret, it doesn't make you less of a person.
I’m obsessed with this band and have been since I was 10 (and I’m 30 now) I know every single Evanescence song in existence, Amy Lee is an amazing singer/songwriter/composer! 🥰 So many good ones!!!! I hope you guys react to her whole entire discography because none of her songs disappoint! 🥰 she also has solo music as well as just Amy Lee! She’s amazing and I’m glad you guys love her as much as I do 🥰
I’ve been watching your reactions for a few weeks now and I love them. This is my forever favourite song. My ex husband is a seriously sick addict and this song resonates so much with me. He was everything to me & he took so much of me with him when he left me to continue his addictions. I adore this song. So love watching you both reacting to music ive grown up with 💜💞💜
I was very lucky to see her in concert in 2022 & it was absolutely amazing to here & see her live. She did amazing as always!!!! I'd go see her a million times & still be blown away by her voice!!!
we all love our Amy Lee, have you heard of "Nightwish"? and their vocalist Floor Jansen? give Ghost love score live at waken 2013 a try, I think you'll love it, Floor has her own stuff as well, dig your vids guys.
I've been listening to her song "My Heart Is Broken". Husband and I just found out that our babies heartbeat had stopped and it stopped growing. Please be thinking of us! Love you guys!
Thanks man for you being so open about the time in your life when you felt low mentally. I'm fifty and I have suffered with depression, anxiety and low self confidence most of my adult life. Also your videos help to cheer me up in a nostalgic way when you react to the rock music I listened to during my eighties teenage years. You say that we, your viewers, are blessed. I KNOW that I am blessed everytime I view your reaction videos as they cheer me up when I'm feeling down. It's great that although you love each other as husband and wife you still have extra love for your viewers and care that we are cheered up when we view you.
"And though you're still with me/I've been alone along" is one of the most powerful lyrics in the song. If you like the piano and her voice you'll love Evanescence's Good Enough.
I'd like to make a suggestion for Female Fridays, Loreena McKennitt, she's a Canadian singer-songwriter, whose music is often described as Celtic-oriented, I find it ranges from folksy to medieval, and can be almost a time-machine. Check out her song "Dante's Prayer", it's from her 1997 album, 'Book of Secrets'. Her voice is really on display in this song, a vibrant soprano with a great range. Much of her music also features mainly acoustic strings, like violins, cellos, harps (Loreena plays the harp, among many instruments) & piano, and woodwinds like flutes & recorders, accordions, basically anything traditional and acoustic. Enjoy. -Mark
Amy Lee is definately in my top 3 female singers. The other 2 would be Brittney Hayes (usually called Brittney Slayes...and for a reason) and then the absolute best Floor Jansen. Brittney is the lead singer for Unleash the Archers ... a fantastic power metal band from Canada. People usually react to their Awakening song and sometimes their Tonight we Ride. I would suggest Awakening first. As for Floor Jansen...not to take anything away from any other vocalist (male of female)... there is just no better talent out there that I know of. She is the lead singer for Nightwish and people usually react to Ghost Love Score first...and then everyone does some deep diving into them. Female Friday always seems like it's missing something to me with neither of these 2...especially Floor. Floor is truly one of the most talented vocalists today.
I agree. Floor Jansen is the greatest vocalist I have ever had the pleasure to discover in 2017. She just gives you everything when performing. Making Nightwish my favorite band of all time.
This song is almost 20 years old now and came out when I was in my early 20's. It's a song that defiantly hits harder now. Back then, it was just a great song, now it's a powerful song. I can now relate to the lyrics, but not towards a specific relationship, but towards my memories, moments, and my mind. The older we get, the more memories hurt, not just the sad and/or bad ones like losing a loved one, but the good ones also, like life never being as great as it once was, as certain moments will never be experienced again like they were when we lived them. My memories are slowly killing me as I can't let go.
This song! Ugghh! It grabs me by my soul and carries me to places I can barely explain. Each place gut wrenching, but needing to be faced. And it takes my deepest emotions and drags them out into the open. Thus allowing me to release them and be free of the pain, for a while. I sometimes avoid this song, but when it starts I am there until it ends. That song is truly Art!
This shows her ability to sing. It's much harder to sing like this and sound this outrageous with this much control. You should check out "Call me when your Sober" next.
This song is a VERY emotional song, anyone who listens to this song will get emotional. The reason is because of the pain she is able to portray in it combined with the inhuman innocence and purity she is able to keep in her voice.
Love this guys, if you like 'amy lee' then you really should listen to 'nightwish - love ghost score' for a future female friday, 'floor jansen' another amazing female vocalist keep up the good work guys much love
I LOVE your reactions & analysis. She has the most enchanting ethereal voice ever. I get chills every single time and literally had chills throughout especially watching your reactions. ❤ 😇
One of the greatest creations in the history of planet Earth, musically or otherwise!!! If you want to hear the darker side of Evanescence, try "Lies." It gets pretty hard & grungy. :)
Nightwish "Ghost Love Score" is incredible. And on female Friday this will give Rob a more rockin female Friday! Floor Jansen is the female lead. It is often debated who is the greatest female voice in rock...Floor Jansen or Amy Lee. My opinion Floor has the edge, but they are both great. And Nightwish is an incredible band. ua-cam.com/video/JYjIlHWBAVo/v-deo.html
I would consider Floor to be Symphonic metal and Amy to be Pop Rock.. But the best heavy metal singer is Doro Pesch of Warlock....check out the song "All We Are"!!!
I’m truly grateful to have subscribed to this. Amy’s voice in this song is hauntingly beautiful, and it genuinely touches a vulnerable part of the soul. It’s amazing how her vocals can offer such soothing comfort, even in moments when words fall short. The connection it creates resonates so deeply within me. My love for "My Immortal" is undeniable, and it brings a sense of solace that I deeply appreciate.
There are so many ways that this song can be interpreted. For me personally... this song hit me hard after my daughter passed away. I held her hand throughout her life, wiped her tears.. and when she was diagnosed with cancer in December of 2017 - I spent the last 3 months of her life in and out of the hospital always by her side. She passed away on March 18, 2018. This song (in my opinion) really expresses the empty feeling you have inside after a traumatic loss. I know my daughter lives on inside me.. but what I wouldn't give to just hear her voice.. her laugh.. or to have one of her hugs. Rest well my sweet angel Rebecca 06/13/1986 - 03/18/2018 I will love you always
Please if you haven't already you should watch and listen to Lithium and call me when you're sober. Both such amazing songs and her voice is amazing in everything she does.
Her voice just pulls you in and reaches your soul in such deep ways. She’s so vulnerable and authentic in her song writing and voice. I’m so glad you enjoyed her so much. Speak to me is also amazing
This and “Hello” were written for Amy’s sister who she tragically lost when they were kids. If you really want to complete the picture please react to “Hello” and you will understand what drives Amy. By the way, Amy is also a world class pianist
@@corbenikgaming7688 No, her sister died at the age of 3. It was an unidentified illness. Either way, this song was written by Ben Moody about the loss of his grandfather. The song that was written for her sister is Hello.
Aww, the fact that Amber’s voice is so shaky as if she’s trying to all she can to get thru what she’s saying without breaking down was so genuine…you can tell the song really affected her. Love to you both❤️
I lived around Amy and used to hang out with her many years ago. We would listen to her perform at Juanitas in Little Rock. The last time I talked to her, she told me a couple of her songs were going to be in a movie and she was going on a big tour. That was around '99 or 2000, and she has done nothing but excelled since then.
Still waiting on Nightwish: Ghost Love Score. It can fall under the female Friday category easily or any other day. It’s a musical ride you will not want to get off of.
This is my favorite song by them. Amy Lee has the most beautiful voice. I've been listening to them, since the beginning. Loved your guy's reaction soo much.
Do you want a new favorite female vocalist?? If you haven't already reacted to either her solo stuff, ou've got to check out one of the top tier female rock/metal vocalists, Floor Jansen. She's the current singer for the symphonic metal band Nightwish. Easily one of the best active singers in the world today
Fun fact about this video, if you look close you'll notice that she never once touches the ground. The reason being the meaning behind the song, she is the ghost of someone who has passed but still haunting earth because of the person she loves
EVANESCENCE can truly draw out emotions. Hopefully soon you get to experience Floor Jansen of NIGHTWISH. I recommend starting with "Ghost Love Score" live at Wacken Open Air (2013)

Not her lyrics. Ben Moody's lyrics.
"I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone

That line gets me crying every time.

Continue on
Much love to you. My husband passed unexpectedly in December 2018 and I still feel off kilter 3 1/2 years later.
Amy is supposed to be a ghost, that's why she's always above the ground throughout this video, it's beautiful and creative and captures the melancholy of the song, and the black and white enhances that vibe even more, i love it, kind of an underrated rock classic from Evanescence.
I believe it was one of the band members father or grandfather who passed away and made this song for him.
Her wrists are bandaged in the video.
cool, ty for sharing
@@wanderlustaesthete4117 You are correct. The father of the man playing piano had died. He & Amy wrote the song together, but most of the words are his.
I always took it as she was a ghost after falling from the ledge in Bring Me To Life, she is even laying on a car's roof, like that is where she landed.
I’m 50 years old & this is one of the most poignant & beautiful songs I’ve ever heard.
this has brought many MALE reactors to tears, that's how powerful it is.
Well, they're humans, men don't cry?
@@n3493 they do, but some feel insecure about it. They feel like they have to hide their emotions.
LOVE Evanescence!!!! Such a great song! So glad you got to hear this song! Call me when you’re sober is another good one to listen to. ❤️
No matter how many times I hear this song, her voice always makes me emotional.
Now do Lzzy Hale featuring Amy Lee - Break In - Two Powerful women's voices together for a beautiful song.
This, without question one of the best female duets ever
Beautiful song
Agreed. Beautiful duet.
Agreed. They should also hit Halestorm's "Familiar Taste Of Poison".
YES!!
Hold on there, you're not alone in pain. Kilometers away, still I know what you feel.
We all have issues 💔 The key is to hold on. One step at a time. We will see the light at the end of the tunnel ! Keep holding on!
Yes, please!
This 🙌🏻 definitely!!
YES!!👌👌👌👌
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
One of my favorite songs. Yall gotta hear the version of this song without the drum drop with she's singing all alone. And it's just her voice. It will tear your soul apart. Just beautiful!
Amy's voice is just beautiful. She did this song for her sister, who passed away.
No this was for the guy who was playing the piano. It’s a break up song. But the song hello is about her sister
@@defaultsweethrt According to band members Amy Lee and former guitarist Ben Moody both stating: The lyrics were written by Ben Moody.
@@defaultsweethrt No, from what I've heard and read, the song Hello is about her sister not this one.
One of the best female voices in rock today.
More by Evanescence to check out.

2nd this one Broken as a duet is amazing and if you thought the duet on bring me to life was something wait till you hear this one
second this! Seether is great! Well... Seether is pretty good but his song is great.
Yes!! React to Broken!!!
Broken is amazing! They so need to hear it!
You guys love Amy Lee, so you need to listen to her duet with Seether "Broken". You won't be disappointed
Yes!!! I came here to mention Call Me When You’re Sober, but Broken for sure!!! So incredible
Oh I love Broken!!!
That was on the Punisher soundtrack
Yes yes yes, I was thinking they should listen to the duet as well!
they were a couple too
Only Amy Lee and Karen Carpenter kick me right in the soul when they sing. True feels
Oh boy, Amber isn't gonna make it through this lol. Great choice you guys - peace and love!
Maybe try Alannah Miles, Black Velvet. It is a slow bluesy song about Elvis Presley.
Sultry and sexy...so good.
It's a kind of funny, because Willie Nelson told her 'Never loose that country feeling' while this song was indeed bluesy :)
Great suggestion, and Black Velvet is such a great song.❤️
Please do this.
I used to love singing this song in the bar for karaoke. ❤️😁
One of the greatest love songs. She has a voice like no other
Wait until you hear Nightwish “Ghost Love Score” from Wakken Open outdoor festival. Female lead singer, Floor Jansen, will blow you away!!!
"Bring me to life was insane. I feel like that's going to be a hard song to top." Haha, I love it. Can't wait to see how they react to My Immortal.
XoXo
I was hoping you’d react to her again!!!! She’s absolutely amazing!!!! One of my singing idols for sure!!!
P.S. never apologize for getting emotional on your reaction channel.
ya it's about her sister
Agreed, Getting a little emotional just means the song really hit home as it was intended. Many of us have had some mental stuff happen in our lives, the important thing is we came out on the other side a better, more understanding person more in touch with society and with respect for everyone. You should never feel you have to keep this stuff a secret, it doesn't make you less of a person.
True... Lee added her feels to the song that was written by Moody (guitarist), dedicated to his grandfather.
aww
The song about her sister is called Hello
I’m obsessed with this band and have been since I was 10 (and I’m 30 now) I know every single Evanescence song in existence, Amy Lee is an amazing singer/songwriter/composer! 🥰 So many good ones!!!! I hope you guys react to her whole entire discography because none of her songs disappoint! 🥰 she also has solo music as well as just Amy Lee! She’s amazing and I’m glad you guys love her as much as I do 🥰
Same, even the age 🙂 I loved her Korn cover of Thoughtless
Amy Lee is a classically trained pianist. This is my favorite song by the group 😊
Opera trained singer
I’ve been watching your reactions for a few weeks now and I love them. This is my forever favourite song. My ex husband is a seriously sick addict and this song resonates so much with me. He was everything to me & he took so much of me with him when he left me to continue his addictions. I adore this song. So love watching you both reacting to music ive grown up with 💜💞💜
I never heard of her before now. Will definitely be checking out other songs by her.

Enjoy.
-Mark
I'm partial to The Highway Man myself.
The Lady of Shallott is also gorgeous. Anything by Loreena McKennitt is hauntingly beautiful.
Mummers dance is a great one as well.
Most expressive and emotional female voice in history. She is unequalled.
For one of your Female Fridays, please do Nightwish Ghost Love Score live at Wacken….trust me… it is EPIC
I've been trying for months to get them to listen....
When you guys listen to Lithium by her you will hear pure raw emotion and power blended perfectly together ...
This. React to Lithium.
This song has been a huge part of my life for about 20 years. It still makes me cry.
This song! Ugghh! It grabs me by my soul and carries me to places I can barely explain. Each place gut wrenching, but needing to be faced. And it takes my deepest
emotions and drags them out into the open.
Shed a tear or two words and vocals so so personal and real
Love this guys, if you like 'amy lee' then you really should listen to 'nightwish - love ghost score' for a future female friday, 'floor jansen' another amazing female vocalist keep up the good work guys much love

I LOVE your reactions & analysis. She has the most enchanting ethereal voice ever. I get chills every single time and literally had chills throughout especially watching your reactions. ❤ 😇
The first song I've heard from Evanescence and I loved it ever since.
One of the greatest creations in the history of planet Earth, musically or otherwise!!!
If you want to hear the darker side of Evanescence, try "Lies." It gets pretty hard & grungy. :)
The bridge leading into the drums never fails to give me goosebumps, some of the best songwriting and instrumentation ever conceived

@@elizabethlundin3112 Amy Lee was my favorite female vocalist until I first heard the Goddess that is Floor Jansen.

I respectfully disagree. Amy Lee is an absolute goddess. It is pretty close though so I can't fault your taste. :)

Yes!! Such a great female to female love song! 💘
Thanks for sharing this reaction and for being honest with your feelings. I had emotion with this song, too. God bless you both!

If I remember right I think I heard that her sister committed suicide but I could be wrong.
And "Like You", too, I think.
WRONG SONG! It was for Ben Moony, look it up.
Amy is just world class..
Love to you both❤️
Who's Amber? Amy Lee is the singer.
Amber is the reacter…
I lived around Amy and used to hang out with her many years ago. We would listen to her perform at Juanitas in Little Rock. The last time I talked to her, she told me a couple of her songs were going to be in a movie and she was going on a big tour. That was around '99 or 2000, and she has done nothing but excelled since then.
My wife and I saw her twice in New Orleans, she's just as good live!
Still waiting on Nightwish: Ghost Love Score. It can fall under the female Friday category easily or any other day. It’s a musical ride you will not want to get off of.
I've been suggesting this for a few weeks. I'm hoping they'll get to it soon
I agree they should do Ghost Love Score, it is kind of hard for Rob, and a beautiful voice
They got to react to that soon right... cannot wait to see Amber's reaction to Ghost love score... I know Jay will be blown away too!
I'm going to have to bring out the big guns #nightwisharmy.... engage....
Amy Lee is The Best, FJ sucks...
Fun fact about this video, if you look close you'll notice that she never once touches the ground.
The reason being the meaning behind the song, she is the ghost of someone who has passed but still haunting earth because of the person she loves
This song will forever be in the top 5 of female vocal performanes... She blasted this out of the park... Amy Lee has the voice of a 1000 angels...
EVANESCENCE can truly draw out emotions. Hopefully soon you get to experience Floor Jansen of NIGHTWISH. I recommend starting with "Ghost Love Score" live at Wacken Open Air (2013)
