You guys have barely scratched the surface with Evanescence and they are great with every song. Definitely need to do "CALL ME WHEN YOU'RE SOBER". Yes, Amy and the band write their own songs.

She was engaged to Seether frontman Shaun Morgan at the time. Apparently his substance use issues led to a breakup. Sad & ironic that the song is called Broken. But it is an amazing ballad, and her vocals are on full display.

Evanescence's first album Fallen is transcendant. They've never come close since.
I got to see Evanescence on their very first tour. They made a stop with a rock festival here in Tulsa. And a good time was had by all.
Jordan, I need to go back to your earlier vids. I remember when you said something about not liking "loud stuff". It's been SO fun watching your progression. You have turned out to be way more open minded than I think even YOU thought you'd be. I absolutely love watching you. And adding Amber was the smartest thing. OMG. You guys are just the best. Yes, Amy Lee writes all the songs... Evanescence started w/ guitarist Ben Moody writing the music, but he quit the band around 2004 after the 'Fallen' album... Guitarist Terry Balsamo co-wrote the music for the next 2 Evanescence records. The new album 'The bitter truth' is credited to Lee and the other members collectively collaborating...
Most female-fronted rock/metal bands write their own music & lyrics - Lacuna Coil, Evanescence, Within Temptation, Arch Enemy, Nightwish, Epica, Guano Apes, Vixen, etc... Heart went thru a period between 1984 and 1990 when they had outside songwriters deliver songs for their records, but they wrote their own material before and after that.
Ben Moody also did lyrics for many of their debut album.
And it shows, crunchy guitars and general heaviness make Fallen a much better album than The Open Door.

I've been blessed to see Evanescence in concert twice.
Amy Lee was dating another rock musician that was struggling with a really bad drug addiction. Amy was by his side to help him get sober and in doing so she was losing herself and who she was. Eventually she had to save herself and end the relationship. She also wrote 'call me when your sober' right after she ended the relationship. Singer songwriters are so awesome because they are singing about events that really occurred in their life and not just purchasing songs from writers. I just about listen to only singer/songwriters exclusively because they have that extra depth in their singing to no one else can recreate. Huge Evanescence fan@

@@scottNNJ If you're hooked on Halestorm now, then you MUST put one of their concerts on your bucket list. I've seen them twice, they are an OUTSTANDING live band. No backing tracks, no prerecorded anything. What you hear comes only from the 4 of them right then and right there.
The "new" album (last year) 'The bitter truth' is like going back to the sound of the 'Fallen' era, but with all the benefits of greater experience, craft and technology, to produce an awesome result - this is the album I'd been waiting for.
Something interesting is the lyrics tie-in with "Bring Me To Life". In that video she is dreaming when she starts to fall and he grabs her hand to save her. In this video she says "Don't want your hand this time, I'll save myself. Maybe I'll wake up for once."

Absolutely LOVE Evanescence!!!!! ❤️❤️ She was my go to in High School and got through it with her. She was one of the first CDs I bought. Other good songs are Call me when you’re Sober, Everybody’s Fool, tourniquet, my immortal, taking Over Me. Love those songs and much more so many great ones out there. Back in the 90s there was a very special lady named Shirley Manson who fronted the band Garbage. I'd definitely recommend her for your next Female Friday! They had a string of hits: "Only Happy When it Rains," "Stupid Girl," "Push It" and "I Would Die for You" 😊 Garbage really was the Evanescence of the 90s, imo.
It's not just the power she projects through the screen. She was belting out underwater, then through screen, and THEN into your soul
You really, really need to do “Break In” with Halestorm featuring Amy Lee. It’s a beautiful duet with Lzzy Hale & Amy Lee- both powerful women singers who just kill it in the video- which was shot in one take, I might add.

I was the rows away from Amy Lee at the Synthesis concert here In Australia a few years back, and her voice shattered my soul. Worth checking out Lindsay Stirling and lizzy hale song called shatter me. Also awesome. I love you guys!

My son introduced me to Amy Lee and Evanescence. He is legally blind so a bit of a sound snob, he has been in love with her music since middle school( he's in his 30's) We went to a concert together and WOW is she a presence. It's worth every dime. do it!
I had the absolute pleasure to see Evanescence in concert when they toured with Lindsey Stirling (who you need to react to soon!). It was an unique tour as they played stripped down with an orchestra backing them. It was so amazing and special. They are a band that I will 100% see every time they tour (except this last time with Halestorm b/c of the pandemic).
Call Me When You’re Sober, What You Want, Tourniquet and Use My Voice are just a few out of their catalog you should check out.

When I first saw them in concert in '03 I was amazed by the clarity of the sound mix as everything was crystal-clear and powerful. They rock hard but you could clearly hear Amy's amazing vocals along with her piano work....they weren't buried in the mix. At one point in the show there was a quiet slow section of a song which highlighted her vocals and I remember being blown away and blurting out "wow" and everyone around me turned around and smiled because they were feeling the same way. Amy's just a generational talent.
I saw Evanescence live last thursday with halestorm... wow those ladies know how to but on a show!!!! Amy has this presence about her thats just amazing... she can hold a whole audience in the palm of her hands

Evanescence is a key part of my life soundtrack -- I remember driving to the coast on a windy highway after graduating, with this blasting, and singing along, and just _feeling_ every beat, bass line, and soaring note of Fallen. I'm a fan of their later stuff too, and even think some of it was artistically and objectively better, but that first album will always be iconic and an emotional touchstone for me. And yeah, they're good in concert too, although I think they do better with shorter sets, so their better concerts were always multi-performer bills. Anyway, glad you enjoyed, and congrats on hitting 200k!!

I just went to see Evanescence in The O2 in London 2 days ago; she... was... amazing! I was up near the front and let me tell you, when you feel, see and hear Amy Lee belting this out only 30 feet in front of you, you know you've lived. You just know. I cried when she sang My Immortal, and I lost it when she sang this. I was hollerin' like a bitch!
They're still going around, it's worth keeping an eye out for their tour dates.

Y'all simply must go to an Evanescence concert! The emotional connection between Amy and the audience must be experienced, to be believed. The concert I went to was Lindsey Stirling with Evanescence as the opener. Mind boggling.

Don’t remember which Halestorm you have reacted to, but “I am the fire” is very much a “Banger” like this one, & about 15 other Halestorm songs will rock ur world.

Check out more Halestorm (Lzzy Hale) please. She does a song featuring Amy Lee called 'Break In'. Another song I'd like to suggest is by The Hu (a Mongolian rock band that plays Mongolian instruments), their song 'A women's song' featuring Lzzy Hale is excellent and I'm sure you'll find the band quite interesting.

I saw the Hu open for Halestorm last September. Outstanding show even though Lzzy did not come out and sing with them.

"Fallen" was my high school album for sure, i will always have nostalgia for that time.
For female Friday, I suggest the Dutch band Within Temptation led by Sharon den Adel, who sound somewhere between Evanescence and Nightwish. Try “Paradise”, which in addition has guest vocals by Tarja, who was the first vocalist for Nightwish.
I just in November went to Halestorm and Evanescence and it was amazing. And yes Evanescence does write most all their songs. Now check out Halestorm Break In featuring Amy Lee their harmonies are amazing.
