- It's been one year living here! Happy anniversary to us.
Thank you all for your support and kindness since the big move to Central QLD. I love that you guys aren't shy to come say hello when Denis and I are out and about in town.
I do apologise for not responding to your comments, I do appreciate the kind ones and thank you for making the effort to write comments.
We love our home here and have adjusted and settled in nicely. It is hard to leave our friends and family but we do visit often and stay in touch.
Denis and I have worked very hard to accomplish everything we've done so far and thank those who have helped here and there.
Not only did we move but we had lots going on in our lives in general and helping others out too. So we're exhausted but still motivated to keep enriching our existence.
I'm amazed looking back over the footage to see that it was so green when we arrive at our property and now it's so very dry right now and still waiting for consistent rain to fill our tanks again and green our land considering we are looking after livestock now. (not ours but I wish they were)
Let me know what you think. Have we done much in one year? And what do you think we will work on next?
Thanks again for your support and love
Brooke and Denis
Looks Awesome Brooke... You and hubby have done an amazing job getting that property in great shape. You will be self sufficient with vegetables and fruit and your own cattle. You just need some chooks for some fresh eggs. Much LOVE Dave
Well done, you should be proud of what you've achieved.
Good on you guys, I moved to Queensland 20 years ago after being trapped in suburbia.. I love the freedom of being up here... the weather can be exciting at times .. being self sufficient is my dream we are not there yet . You guys have done so well, you have youth on your side.
From one bush person to another, cant wait to see what your country looks like after the first few rains. Old bush saying for you,
"First rains on dry country smells like nectar from the gods"✌
Great video it gives us better idea of what you guys have achieved over the year. You go to admit the old house has some real character to it now.
Wow so I have been subscribed to your channel for a year now. The first video of yours that I ever watched was the one where you moved. I have seen very video since and love watching you turn that unloved property into your home. Well done and congrats on your first anniversary in your new home.
You have accomplished so much in such a short time. You should be proud of yourself. It’s coming together so quickly. It might be a hot dry summer this year though.
It’s El Niño this year, typical four year weather pattern. It’s going to be hot, dry and in some places very wet.
Best time to prepare, is now!
Brilliant Brooke, absolutely brilliant
Love the shed that's an awsome job!
You two are weapons. Incredible what you have achieved together.
Hi Brooke
A lot of people talk about making the shift but rarely do they follow through.
Its tough going but the rewards are only limited by what you are willing to invest of yourselves and clearly you are both ‘all in’.
I think what you are doing represents such a genuine pioneering spirit and a willingness to work hard for the things you want.
The sense of achievement must be amazing and you deserve every success.
Thank you for sharing.
D.
Happy Anniversary guy’s, the place is looking great, well done.
That was freakin awesome - great summary of where it started to where it is now - great work guys - love it !! so damn exciting
Guys good on you getting in and having a red-hot crack! One tip to improve your floor rolling of paint, do an X or W pattern first, then come back with vertical strokes to spread it. It makes the coverage much more consistent than doing vertical strokes L-R or R-L as you were doing on the house floor or in the shed. Look forward to seeing more progress! I also like you aren't scared of touching diamond pythons (and don't blame you for not touching browns, I dislike brown snakes myself). Have fun!
Looking forward to the future, fingers crossed for that elusive rainfall, well done 👍👍👍👍👍
Looking good. Wow. Things grow so fast. You have done wonders with your property in just one year. All the best.
You guys are amazing, I’m sure it’s been stressful at times but you’re doing great. 👌 😊
I can't believe that it has been a year already, you two have done so much
Looks great! I've loved watching the progression of your property through the year, you have both done a lot, I look forward to watching it come along for the next year 🙂
That is an incredible amount of work for one year. Well done!
I have been following your progress since you first arrived what a fantastic journey you really worked hard and it shows commitment organised productive anda fantastic team together. 😊
I,ve been watching this series from the start and cannot believe the amount of work you guys have put in over the year . Looking forward to seeing whats in store for the next year . Good luck guys .
I am very pleased that you are happy with your decision. Onwards and upwards from here.
It’s great to see you guys building a home. 10/10. 👍
Such hard work.
So very inspiring.
Wishing you every good blessing now and for the future.🙏
❤
Wish I had the energy and time to do what you guys are doing, you are living the dream in my opinion, might not be everybody's dream but definitely my dream.
Awesome work!! You guys are smashing it !! Well done.
Coming along really well you two. Just with the tanks I noticed something maybe your not aware of. If they are joined together, they both have to be level, as it ends up being a big water level. So the higher one, will only fill up to the height of the top of the lower one if that makes sense, the rest will go out the overflow. So both pads need to be on the same height / level rather than staggered. I have two on a similar setup I joined and one would never fill up and a water truck guy explained it to me, obvious really. But I always had a couple of feet empty in the top tank. So it would be worth while, creating a second level pad, emptying the bottom tank and moving it, if you want additional water. I found our place in Gympie / Curra average we had 2 X 18000 litre tanks and there was only two of us and I'd get about a year and a half without rain. But you sort of need two tanks if you shower a lot etc I find I shower sometimes 3 times a day when it's hot or if I've been mowing etc. Anyways great work, shed looks great also. Wes (Hervey bay)
Congratulations great job and lots of hard work thanks for the videos please keep making them don't worry about people who complain your not fishing the fish will still be there when you get back out there

Wow! Super impressive, you're both such a fantastic match for each other! Fantastic land & I love the old Queenslander. I'm saving for one for some land I have in Gladstone. I'm from New Zealand, work in Europe but love it up there! Great city I reckon. Being rural is next level again. Love the big shed too
Well guys that year went so quickly, I saw the first vid you posted, so much achieved in that time, you guys are tough, and that big ass shed, monumental, looking forward to the future 🥰😘🥵👌👍👍💪

Been watching you from when you left the coast, and really loved everything you both have achieved. Can’t believe how fabulous your gardens have produced. Nearly Xmas time again and hope you get to chill out with family and friends and enjoy all your hard work thus far. I recon some downtime will be well earned. Thanks for always sharing your lifestyle with us. ❤
Amazing . The property is looking wonderful You both should be congratulated on the hard work you are putting in. Love watching it develop
I stumbled upon your channel today! Wow, you have done so much already. Your Queenslander looks so nice now. Any chance of keeping it, sprucing up the outside and maybe put a wrap around verandah on all sides? Would be great for shade and more living space. I can really see your beautiful highset renovated Queenslander catching those sunsets and breezes, surrounded by shady fruit trees. Well done!
You are going to need a bigger boat Brooke, I cannot believe that it has been a year already , you have done so much and done it so well, with help from Dennis of course! Cannot wait to see how the next 12 months progress, ps your garden is blooming wonderful
Wow, fantastic achievement to date! I'm waiting for the rains also, our 25,000L tank is about half gone!
Amazing accomplishment in such a short time. Well done guys❤

Aussie's haven a crack! Bloody love this! ❤
My fruit trees need the rain as well, it always seems to be out over you though when it looks like rain! Calliope/Boyne Valley always get more!
Great work and great video.
How Fing awesome. well done , happy year one.
You and your husband are a great team, amazing progress.
With all the geoengineering happening you’d think they could send a little rain to you (warning: it’s a little toxic). Peace and love be with you
Praise God
Epic! Hats off to you guys.
Can’t believe it’s been a year! Fantastic progress.
You guys have done so much. Amazing. I moved near Gladstone too a few months ago 😊

Wow a big change in a year well done guys that's awesome it's a big change from the goldy but looks amazing 👌
big year alright! Coming into storm season but I'm not holding my breath just yet
Very impressive results for 12mts👏
As a GC residenbt I reckon you should do a Q&A for those of us looking to follow in your footsteps!
If you live on the beach or canals on the GC I have 10 acres not far from Brooke to swap! 😂
Absolutely proud of you guys and being a earthmoving contractor, the 5 ton excavator that kicked ass to get you there , hard work will get you everything in life , its a pitty the kids of today don't have the same work hard ethics
Children become what their parent make them. So funny hearing old generations talk about the "kids"...😅 they moulded them
Wow! Lot's of work! Great job. Proud of yall. Question... how did you do your kitchen counter top? Is it finished plywood? Planning our retirement home and the theme is economy and simplicity. Granite counter tops look great!..... in someone else's house.
You'll be waiting a while for rain.
Lived in Gladstone 35 years. 🌦⚡️🌧
Great Job Keeping The Oz Dream Alive Doing Up A Queensland House Can You See The City Lights Of Gladstone At Night Keep Us Posted On The House Please 🙏
Yes, we see what we call the Gladstone glow over the range.
good lady fishing trip josss👍👍👍
Wow!!! you guys have come a long way since i watched you move into a run down mess. Hard work is starting to really starting to show now and imagine what it will be like in another years time.
Of interest what was the products you applied on the shed floor? The grey coating where the boat is parked - brand & product name & cost (i assume it is a polyurethane) and the black product with flakes (assume it is a epoxy of some sort) brand & product name? . The reason i ask is i want to seal both my double garage and my larger workshop at the rear which has a hoist.
You have been busy the last time i saw one of your videos was how to catch a Bonito. I nearly caught one dam thing got away when i let off the slack for like 1 second.
That was brilliant to watch, you guys have worked so hard. But thank god for the mute button in the first half haha
Coming together
Boy , You could live in that shed
Its a nice property but i could not handle the snakes!
❤❤❤❤

❤
Why didn’t you add the colour in the cement when you laid out the floor painting it now is just a 2-3 year job
Hi, what product did you use on the shed floor?
Epoxy and polyurethane
I regret 1 year of not living there
🎣
Why not knock the house down and build a big kit home
You do know we are starting a four year drought, don't you? I would be spending my money on more water resources.
Nice views, but I am not sure why you would use black epoxy on the floor of the shed to show up the dirt, dust, and to make the lovely shed look dark!
Hmm, fluffy mat around the toilet bowl. You clearly don’t understand about the peeing deficiencies of a male even with his best intentions! That mat is going to be soiled and unhygienic in 3 secs flat!!!
constructive criticism… that music was so painful it put me off watching… 😢
