    Congratulations Lynn on losing so much weight! 47kilos is a monumental achievement :) almost half of your initial weight, that's amazing! Thanks for sharing your story, it's very encouraging. After so much struggle and so many hurdles too. One thing that used to get to me a lot is that it was too late for me to heal my somewhat damaged body (from surgeries, badluck, and also poor eating). Great to hear a story like yours where you have come so unbelievably far, and have been able to live a much happier and healthier life. Stoked for you!

    I don’t want to ramble, but being a retired CVICU RN I have to say Lynn’s testimony and story had me glued to my seat. To go through the majority of her life with these multiple MAJOR issues, and come out the other end like she has, is dumbfounding. When she speaks of EFs I know exactly what she’s talking about. I have recovered 1000s of patients that have had open heart surgery, and for those with chronic EFs of 15% we often times placed LVADs (left ventricular assist devices), to serve a bridge to transplant or as a final destination treatment. To have an EF of 50 excellent and as she says is normal. I was impressed with the depth of knowledge in every area that she spoke. She’s a smart woman. If you can pass that on to her I would just want to encourage her to carry on. Kudos to both you Andrew and Lynn. Outstanding stories.

    Yes - Food prep is so extremely important. Went WFPB December 2019 and it is changing my life. Twenty pounds down. My go to's (potatoes, beans, freezer veggies, apples, bananas, oats, greens in the fridge) keep me fed. I'm noticing I now seem to eat more to make sure I have something to keep me going vs cravings for something unhealthy.

    Great chat you both had. I have to say with the trouble I’ve had with food, that being an addict towards food is something I’ve had repeat performances of. But not with the Starch Solution which is potato heaven for someone with an eating addiction as you finally feel FULL! I eat a lot of microwaved baked potatoes and liked your advice - to have high starchy foods ready to go as I have little tolerance for hunger when it strikes.
    I usually also have mixed green salad with some tomatoes and green grapes with the potato on half my luncheon-sized plate. What is on the plate fills me up. I have fat-free Italian dressing and use that on my potato with other spices: garlic powder, Italian seasoning, parsley, dehydrated onion and seasoned pepper. It is delicious and I never get tired of it.
    I will have rice and good whole wheat bread on hand in case I don’t have a baked potato ready.
    I have a lot of emotional issues from childhood as my mother decided that what happened to her was not going to happen to me, so she made sure I was fat. At my first pelvic exam, I found out that I wasn’t a virgin. Have had nightmares of what happened to me as I hid it from my conscious mind.
    I have my way of reprogramming myself with the Audible book of “The Starch Solution”, and I walk my 10,000 Steps (usually more like 5 miles) and listening to the book is nothing I get tired of. I figure we have been programmed by parents, our schools, TV commercials, food that is available at fast food restaurants, that I need reprogramming which I know is positive. Glad to take my iPhone and EarBuds on a walk. It is my own personal “Veg-Fest”!
    So since I’ve been walking (along with eating lots of potatoes and salads) I’ve dropped from 155 lbs. to 122 lbs. This is a pretty good weight for my height of 5’4” and the amount I walk and I also do an hour + some of indoor exercises to strengthen my core and back. I am wearing size 4 jeans so my husband tells me my bones are showing. Yes, they show some places, other places I have to tone up though I also have a micro-butt! I don’t have much to fall back on! Ha, ha! When I was 60 when I learned about Dr. McDougall, I dropped from 200 lbs. to 145, and broke my ankle. Without being able to walk, weight crept back up to 165. In the meanwhile my ankle healed but required Physical Therapy and dropped 10 lbs. The last 7 months, I am back to walking and eating potatoes daily and lost about 35 lbs. My BMI is normal now.
    Love what you are doing with you message of eating more potatoes! I am not as fond of sweet potatoes which where I live, the grocery store sells them as “yams”. But do those every now and then. My husband likes them and he’s lost weight too but hasn’t really been focused on the weight loss as I have. My back gets sore and I’m tired of being in pain all the time. When I am thin, the back does not hurt me so much.
    I also tend to reach for the wine when it does and since childhood I’ve had a hard time getting to sleep. So now at 70, and post menopause and with no HRT as mother and sister died of breast cancer, they won’t give me HRT. So I eat tofu once a week and that helps. Quite good dry fried with BBQ sauce and some soy sauce to stop the tofu from sticking to the pan.
    My other ploy is to make myself as physically tired as I can with exercise so I can actual fall asleep. Otherwise Sally feels like a human zombie!
    I will never be normal and guess I know that now, but I’ve seen the unexamined life which “normal” people have and they have zilch in compassion for anyone but themselves. They are harsh on dealing out the criticism and don’t fix themselves. I also have had the worst case of hyperhidrosis I’ve ever seen. But the Starch-Based diet, has dealt with that too. Now people think I am normal. I just look normal on the outside.
    When I am finally “fixed”, I’ll tell them what I think then. But that is likely never to happen this side of glory.

    That level of alcohol abuse can also trigger severe Thiamine deficiency - Beri Beri. one type of Beri Beri can cause heart & CVS issues (the others affect the nerves - neuropathies - & digestion & the brain). Any heart weakness may be exacerbated by the Thiamine deficiency. Thiamine is also depleted by the high processed & refined ‘Carbage’ modern diet.

Personally I eat around 85 percent of my diet with them, but have been throwing in a few other starch foods, fruit and plant based stuff. I'm an herbalist, listening to her , I would speculate about low maggnessuim , it's many times the culprit in craving and heart function, Drs only test at serum level above 6, but total bio availability is far lower, with her past, I hope she studies total nutrition, type to use a Multi Mag, ensure has 500:my Maggnessuim Byciclanate, Vit D3 with K2, Japanese Natto bacteria daily would do her heart and circ system , the nattokinase is a miracle for many, Arjuna Bark another heart super star. But like garlic, ginger can thin blood, so if one is on blood thinners are the one or the othe solutions r, but natto doesn't thin , just clears the pipes .

    Potatoes no vital vitamins ,you might loose weight but you won't be healthier. We need meat with all the fat soluble vitamins it contains. I'm glad she lost weight, but an all potato diet isn't optimal.

      KellyeRaiborn# FreeSchaefferCox thank you for your comment but I beg to differ. Firstly spudfit is is about far more than weight loss, it deals with the complex issue of food addiction. Secondly the healthiest most long lived nations in the world eat a predominantly starch based diet - research blue zones (about 90% of their total calories). With the exception of B12 which even meat eaters can lack everything can be provided by potatoes but as with all weight loss programs you should be monitored by a Dr. in the case of eating a whole food plant based diet health can improve so quickly (as was my experience) that medication needs to be adjusted or stopped. I have frequent blood tests (for my heart and general health) and all my levels are perfect. Andrew ate potatoes only for an entire year under supervision without issue and in fact his bloods improved as well. The benefits are well documented, scientifically researched, studied and published independent of government or industry bias 😊

    • @SpudFit
      @SpudFit  4 роки тому +11

      We do not "need meat". There is no nutrient that we need which is only available in meat. Everything we need can be found in plants and especially potatoes and sweet potatoes.

    • @agatha6267
      @agatha6267 2 роки тому

      Not only do we not need meat, but meat is a proven carcinogen and it contributes to heart disease and strokes because of the saturated fat content, as well as diabetes. A diet of potatoes and sweet potatoes has all the nutrients you need except B12 which comes from the soil and is supplemented in animal feed.
