they are blocking the streets, very messy and unsanitary . Open your restaurant and sell there
As noted at the end, it's not disciminating Latino vendors. Street taco vendors are hurting taco restaurants, not Cheesecake Factory.
They sell tacos at the Cheesecake Factory.
If you cannot afford a permit or license , you cannot afford to make sanitary food.

@@jaad9848So you’re saying that street vendors should just post up whenever and wherever? All because of your, Where’s the data that street vendors produce more or less food illnesses? is a pretty stupid think to ask for if you think about it…
We small businesses of course dispute and often times dislike how heavy handed we’re taxed when we buy our food, when we sell our food, yet we abide by the codes and rules that is how civlized democratic republic and the economic rules work. We small businesses are disciplined and make it work for a mere margin, but we do it and make this country work therefore a simple permit that would at minimum give the consumer some measure of confidence in whatever they’re consuming from the street vendor is as easy as it gets and still we get the whiners…
We have data already, decades of studies that indicate that unsanitary conditions and improper handling of food leads to illnesses, whether the runs or botulism or even more serious ones, a person handling food needs to be held to sanitary standards. If a street vendor balks at that and at paying for a permit then either they can’t manage a business well and they shouldn’t be staking from those who strive to do it the right way.
Free Market! Less Government tax scams..
You can’t just have everyone sell food on the streets not knowing where the food came from . There is a reason why one needs a food service license. There is a long list of food borne illnesses that can be passed on by food vendors as well .

I understand street vendors but at the same time it makes the city look ghetto n yes it takes Bussiness away from restaurants

Health Department checks all kind of things in a brick & mortar restaurant ... None of which is inspected on a sidewalk vender ... Then consider permits and taxes ... None if which are processed or collected on street venders ... Now think of egress on a sidewalk ... Is it fair to everyone, to have to walk around someone's daily street vending business ? ... For the vender to block egress, soil the area with food droppings, and thereby attract assorted insects ? Some of which carry and spread diseases? ...
...WTF? ... Didn't everyone just barely get past several years of Covid issues? And, now we want to simply forego sanitary conditions, for someone to be a part of spreading more bacteria, insects, filth, and general degraded public health? ... Get real ...

they should get a license, if they have no license they are not a legitimate business. Operating a business without a license is illegal
When a side hustle starts becoming a living income then it's time to register as a legit business.
This should be all businesses. Every person doing business should go to the proper process…from street vending, contracting or any services. It is hard for a legitimate business to compete with a person without a proper permit or license operating a business. Everybody have their struggles. Legitimate businesses have employees to support, those employees have families to feed. legitimate businesses they pay taxes, and the people that work for that business pays taxes, and that’s how Cities, County, States and Country able to function, protect and support Citizens, give financial help to people that cannot afford rent, food and medical health. so if your illegally working you’re basically stealing from everybody.
honestly what’s right is right. the ones who actually went to get a business license, rent out a building, pay employees, insurance, etc. that’s hard working. those who are just setting up a tent and all just want easy money.

So small business owners who pay for permits, pay salaries, adhere to code whether business codes or food and health codes are the bad guys here?
So let me get this straight, street vendors just want to freely be able to post up and sell wherever and whenever? Let that sink in for a moment…And they dare ask, how dare does the city council uphold or work to uphold city code enforcement? What the hell?
I don’t care if that man who said he’s been here 30 yrs, trying to appeal to pity doesn’t work buddy… street vendors need and should pay for permits, we should want them to have some type of standard for public and consumer safety. Why? Well we need to ensure that say a restaurant a business that needs to adhere to food, safety and health codes, inspections, regulations and potentially fined if found to be sub par, for street vendor to post up their food tent on the side walk, with public had no knowldeg of food preparation standards, so a simple permit is what they’re balking at??? Come on that is just lazy and suspect…
I support small businesses, will all my life, as we are the lifeline of middle class, working America, we have to comply with business codes, permits and regulations, then so do street vendors, end of story. Toughen up and more importantly think about the true welfare and economic health of our cities when street vendors don’t want to pay for permits or adhere to basic regulations and get to intimidate officials who want to enforce a code!!! Let that sink in, the street vendor has the upper hand and we get to be in fear? Sounds like something criminal is a foot here.
Small businesses, city council stand your ground, is that simple, we the people, tax payers ask and demand that you enforce these codes. Either street vendors step up and adhere to the laws of find something else to do,

Why are people worried about these street vendors, California’s largest problem is there politicians they are taxing and ill spending all your tax dollars.
Ban the illegal vendors it's just another way people think they can break the law. Its just compounding a situation where it becomes harder and harder to do things legally because of everyone breaking the law. They likely aren't paying taxes further adding to the burden they create.
Restaurants are a huge scam, im pro street an i aint even latin.
Question from East Los Angeles:
If someone gets sick eating something bought at a street vendor how does the customer know who owns and is legally responsible if there are no permits or paperwork?🤔. My child could be dying because something (dirt) on the street got kicked up by the tire of a passing car and into the food being prepared on a sidewalk!😲😫 The vendor could be gone the next day! 😡🤬. AND THEY CHARGE SALES TAX BUT DON'T PAY TAXES!🇺🇸🏴☠️🤬😲😷
Good I'm glad the city is taking action and has some sense at least.
Home cooks and Street Vendors often do stupid things with your food, like microwaving things in plastic wrap, using trash bags to hold food, improper refrigeration, etc..
Street vendors should have designated areas, be licensed, and have inspectors certify their carts.
No no it targets street vendors which happen to be Latinos so it’s not a racist thing
I'm all about the hustle that part I understand... what I don't think that these vendors understand is, that if you live in this country you have to break bread pay taxes like the rest of us... if you want to sit at the table then bring something to it
I don't see why the government makes people pay taxes. If they need money, they can just print whatever they need.
Do we really need 10 street vendors on each block? In LA some areas look like TJ. They set up whole blocks of food vendors, clothing racks and tables of house hold items like its store. It’s ridiculous cause people can’t even walk on the side walk. It’s making the city look horrible. And plus the smell of the meat cooking goes inside people homes. Who wants to smell that all day. And some times it stinks.
Good It's gross, illegal and they pay zero taxes. Why don't they think the laws apply to them? Talk about entitled.
The restaurant owners and business owners have to abide by certain rules and pay their permits and pay their taxes. The street vendors should also do the same. The street vendors have no rules or regulations they just collect the money and don't have to report it or pay taxes but the business owners do. Yes the vendors are hardworking people but so are restaurant owners and business owners. What happens if somebody gets ill or sick from a vendor who does not have the proper Food Safety license? If the vendors want to sell food and treat it like it's a business because they are making money they should also follow the same rules as a business owner. Has anyone ever thought about where they are buying their meat? Vendors need to follow the same rules as a business who is selling food to the public.
this is probably why they don't want to get a permit: (also a permit seems to be only $64 dollars +$35 for a business license, i could be wrong but i don't see anyone mentioning it)
