@@aidenblaze075 that’s interesting. I moreso like rewatching the older videos, not because I don’t like Sean now, but because it gives me a whiff of nostalgia. There’s nothing like UA-cam gaming 2016 when 5 different UA-camrs played the same game and all 5 play throughs gave a different vibe. @Penguinmanereikel You're meant to use it like a primary weapon rather than a "save me" button like the other ones. And in top of how long you can use it, it can parry nearly any attack including most red ones, but with exceptions.
That scene was so surreal. Mimir coming back just to see that kratos has locked him in a cage to be torched and begging him to save him is just so good. And the voice acting really pulls it all together
When the free DLC for a 1 year old game is longer than the new cod campaign that costs 60 bucks you can really tell how passionate Santa Monica studios are for their craft. They made this not just because they wanted us to have more content, they wanted to make more for this game and couldn’t put a price on it.
i love the fact that the deaths are canon in this, in the actual game kratos is so powerful he killed all those gods without dying but he enters valhalla and pops out every 5 minutes because he keeps dying
1:02:08 This interaction is so funny to me cuz Kratos actually takes the time to humor him by saying hello instead of just telling him to piss off and answer💀 Also god I love Crispin Freeman’s voice. My top 5 of the voices he’s done is Alucard (Hellsing), Chairman Rockwell (Outer Worlds WHICH NEEDS A SECOND GAME RIGHT NOW), Gottwald (Code Geass), Itachi (Naruto), and Kirei (Fate). A close runner up is Shizuo (Durarara)
@@somerandolad Well, what i mean is ever since GOW made it's comeback in 2018 Kratos as a character has skyrocketed ten fold in popularity, almost to the point that's it's practically impossible now to not immediately think of him when someone says the words "video game". Before hand GOW was just a small fish in a big sea, but it's right up there now with legends like Mario, Sonic, Mega Man, Tomb Rider, Uncharted, Metal Gear, Mortal Kombat, Witcher, Halo, Street Fighter, etc... joining the band of IP's that will go down in history as the best video-game franchises ever created.
He was kinda big back in I think 2014? But it did die down after a while. Then they came back with GoW 2018 and it was a huge hit. This DLC has got to be one of my favorites...EVER! So much character development and potential insights into what's yet to come for the GoW franchise. So glad to see its being so well received and that Jack is enjoying it!!
For real. And the fact that it’s FREE is amazing. They could have easily charged $15 or $20 for this level of content but they basically gave it as a gift to the fans!
@n7sorcerer419 Totally agree! Far too often nowadays we get half baked games that offer the bare minimum when it comes to a good mix of Story, Gameplay, and Mechanics/Systems. I'm so incredibly thankful for devs like these that appreciate their fans and are willing to offer us their thanks in forms like this DLC in return.
not me lol. the minute i realized i could equip it (which was immediately after) i did. i wasn’t about to miss out on the opportunity to use the strongest weapon in the entire franchise (imo)
I just want to show some appreciation to whoever edited this video; the effects and everything are great, but even better is all the ways the face cam moves. Every time a notification pops up in that corner, the face cam moves so that we can read it; when Jack does a funny, the cam gets bigger to emphasize. To do stuff like that every single time is dedication, and I see and appreciate it!
I played Valhalla for the first time yesterday. Not knowing that Sean was gonna play it, I was very disappointed that I would never see his reaction to the Blade of Olympus rage. Seeing it today makes it all better. Exactly what I was expecting.
I think that the fact that he is in Valhalla means that Odin actually killed him and was giving us hope for the whole game. Wouldn't it make sense? Freya is a goddess and she couldn't step into that realm, her own words.
@matheff71 Odin didn't kill Týr. He had to keep him alive in order for his disguise to work, (Kratos, Freya, and Mimir discuss this when they discover the prison Odin kept him in) Týr mentions that he went to Valhalla a long time ago to face the same trials he's having Kratos face, so I think he may have discovered a way to enter without dying first. I mean, he did figure out how to freely travel between mythologies and realms, so it doesn't seem like too much of a stretch for him to have discovered a back door in his travels. He even knew about this entrance, which only Odin, Freya, and the Valkyries knew about.
@@Schwartzwindhero123y’all might be missing what they were saying exactly. Obviously Tyrs not dead, since he’s right there and we can free him. But perhaps he died at some point, and either went to Valhalla and did his thing, or Odin brought him back. I mean one of you even says it, freya can’t enter cause she hasn’t died yet.
Not sure if I missed you figuring it out or not, but just in case, that cage room is from the original God of War room. It's in Pandoras Temple, you have to push a cage up a hill to burn someone as a sacrifice. Because of regional differences, it might've been an undead legionnaire in the cage when you played
"Valhalla is the divine equivalent of therapy" is not the plot development I could have ever expected from the God of War series but I am here for it also Sigrun calling Mimir "dummy" is so cute I can't
Sindri: "Oh dear gods, I'm gonna have to wash that entire bed" *tries not to gag or hurl* Atreus to Mimir: "You think we should-" Mimir: "Not go back for 4 more hours?!? Yes"
Every time Seán plays something new from the God of War series, I immediately have to watch it then add it to my playlist so that I can watch it again.
Shout out to Diceroll on the editing in this video. The attention made to ensuring Jack's camera doesn't block anything seems so simple but it's so damn smooth and helpful. It just makes the whole video feel so professional. The lil zooms as he speaks, too? Chef's kiss.
In a time where a lot of Companies in the Gaming Industry are afraid of "Over-Delivery" this was very surprising. New Story, New Dialogue, New Voice Actors, New Cutscenes, New Set Design, New Arenas, New Enemies, and a New Weapon. For me to expect just a random roll of reused assets (ie. enemies, tile sets, upgrades) this was a fantastic and utterly pleasant surprise. AND they didn't charge for it? Huge kudos to Santa Monica Studio!
I love how its like continuation of the story and not some time pass shitty story... It feels so much better seeing kratos picking a path that was suggested at the end of Ragnarok... Im really hyped to see what happens next... Another dlc ? New game ? Atreas alone game ? Excited 🔥
Okay, so at 1:02:00 when Kratos' journal is talking about Helios and saying "I'm glad you will never have to meet him" is the you he's talking to Atreus?? Because that's so sweet if it is. I like to think he's just journalling all the things he'll talk to Atreus about when he's back from his adventures
You have no idea how much this game and Sean’s playing it helped me overcome literally the darkest and coldest times in my life. Last year in winter there were massive blackouts in my country (I’m Ukrainian). I lived far away from the city cause it was too dangerous, away from my usual life and friends. I still had to work and study somehow, so I had to portion every ounce of electricity we could get. It was dark, cold, and tough time for me. When I started watching Sean playing this game I knew it would be something special. I literally saved energy on my phone every day so I could watch the GoW videos every evening before going to bed. It got me through that time and I’m forever grateful for this story and for these videos. Times are still tough, but I’ve become tougher too. Seeing this video pop up in my feed made my heart skip a beat. In the darkest of times there’s still light and hope. Thanks a lot Sean! ❤

Same here. It's like Sean grew up with us too. Like back then he was more Jack. Now, he's our big brother Sean.
You don’t see series too often now days, not the way they used to be. But that’s okay
@@destiney6013 I get that and I think I would prefer how he was back then if I was a little younger but the more I’ve gotten older and how little kids (act similarly) have been driving me crazy, I guess something about how he is now is just kind of calm and relaxing.
Jack: *uses blade of Olympus thinks its cool and unlocks it as a selectable rage*
Also Jack: "I know i can select my rage but i just wanna play"
Exactly what I thought xD Jack has a habit of not looking away from the center of his screen and misses a lot of pop ups.
Unless the Blade gives health, I don't think Sean's gonna use it for more than one go-around.
@@Penguinmanereikelexactly why I don’t use it you only get health from charged attacks

@Penguinmanereikel You're meant to use it like a primary weapon rather than a "save me" button like the other ones. And in top of how long you can use it, it can parry nearly any attack including most red ones, but with exceptions.
How concerned Kratos was for Mimir was so heartwarming. Love how they have grow together
Yesss I’ve wanted a “Kratos goes to therapy” dlc for so long
I have no connection to the older games but seeing Jack explode with glee because of the references is a treat to see
missing out the best and peak god of war
Tyre's red eyes as he red healthed was awesome. Actually made you feel like you were fighting a god of war.

They should call the atreus spin-off "boy of dad" it would come full circle
Jack: "What if that's actually Mimir?"
Helios turning into Mimir: ..Brother?
YOU FHCKING JINXED IT JACK
That scene was so surreal. Mimir coming back just to see that kratos has locked him in a cage to be torched and begging him to save him is just so good. And the voice acting really pulls it all together

I absolutely love Freya and Kratos duo. They are learning to respect & value each other
Loving seeing you progress as I do too! FYI, the Blade of Olympus is a rage option now labeled "Legacy" when picking a rage at the start
Jack's been asking about games to play for nostalgia week and stumbled upon the best DLC of nostalgia
So true literally!! Also I see you got no comments let me fix that.
When the free DLC for a 1 year old game is longer than the new cod campaign that costs 60 bucks you can really tell how passionate Santa Monica studios are for their craft. They made this not just because they wanted us to have more content, they wanted to make more for this game and couldn’t put a price on it.
game is only 1 year old
4 year old?
@@makii4772got confused and thought the game came out in 2020 lol
This game came out last year.
I saw Christopher Judge make that joke. Just how long is the CoD campaign really? I don't play those games anymore.
i love the fact that the deaths are canon in this, in the actual game kratos is so powerful he killed all those gods without dying but he enters valhalla and pops out every 5 minutes because he keeps dying
Or going insane (when he saw his throne the first time) and not being ready to see it again
Seeing Jack so happy about this game just tickles my heart!
1:02:08 This interaction is so funny to me cuz Kratos actually takes the time to humor him by saying hello instead of just telling him to piss off and answer💀
Also god I love Crispin Freeman’s voice.
WAIT HE WAS ITACHI NO WAY THATS DOPE
Don't forget Sundowner from MGR Revengeance
I liked him as Electro in Spectacular Spiderman 😃
He’s also Winston in overwatch
Thankfully, Outer Worlds 2 was announced a couple years ago so it *is* happening
I think it's safe to say Kratos has officially become one of the greatest video games icons of all time.
You mean he wasn't already?
But ngl, I kinda think their success was even greater back in the day mainly because I live in a 3rd world country and surprisingly, most have heard of god of war but only the psp versions, most people don't know that there's more than just that xd
@@Miku-Izayoithe psp versions introduce me to god of war
It all depends on how old you are and where you live.
1:31:06 the transition from mimir to Helios on the back IS SO SMOOTH! LIKE DAMN!
The trick they used with just mimir right out of frame during the zip line was perfect!
Funny how almost no one realizes they can just equip the blade of olympus after you first use it

Eir's voice sounds so soothing for a battle angel.
She is the medic so it fits..
Well she's a healer. that fits perfectly
Yea the editor is amazing, I like the little interactions we get on some other videos when Sean is afk
The light transparency fade when kratos entered at the start! The little things. These edits are rad
Shit, I didn’t expect Kratos to pull out the damn sword in spartan rage, this DLC is looking REALLY good so far!
I played Valhalla for the first time yesterday. Not knowing that Sean was gonna play it, I was very disappointed that I would never see his reaction to the Blade of Olympus rage. Seeing it today makes it all better. Exactly what I was expecting.
It's so fun to watch Jack enjoy himself like this
Ayo bro?
@@TheProAtPUBGgrow up
Hopefully i can enjoy him too..
Seeing Kratos wielding such emotions and panic trying to rescue Mimir got me all teary eyed, just me?
It's so good to see the real tyr showing us what the true norse god of war is capable of
There is a VERY big distinction between Tyr and Týr
I think that the fact that he is in Valhalla means that Odin actually killed him and was giving us hope for the whole game. Wouldn't it make sense? Freya is a goddess and she couldn't step into that realm, her own words.
@matheff71, you can find him in game though, once you complete the main story of course.
@matheff71 Odin didn't kill Týr. He had to keep him alive in order for his disguise to work, (Kratos, Freya, and Mimir discuss this when they discover the prison Odin kept him in)
Týr mentions that he went to Valhalla a long time ago to face the same trials he's having Kratos face, so I think he may have discovered a way to enter without dying first.
I literally did as much as Jack did in this whole video. We are side by side in progression
Fighting Tyr looks fun. I still love how he's just casually 2/3 heads taller than Kratos, who usually towers ever everyone else.
It's really cool to see try and give Kratos closure on a lot of his past regrets and pain.
The fact that they realesed this as free dlc is amazing most games would gouge you at least $20-$30 for a dlc like this
And Chris judge throwing heavy shade at the mw3 campaign just before the reveal 😂 perfection
Not sure if I missed you figuring it out or not, but just in case, that cage room is from the original God of War room. It's in Pandoras Temple, you have to push a cage up a hill to burn someone as a sacrifice. Because of regional differences, it might've been an undead legionnaire in the cage when you played
It was so cool to see the room recreated in this dlc
Jack absolutely DESTROYING that scythe guy had me in awe of the sheer domination
The power of the parry is strong within this one...
He just relies on Dodge way too much.

You have no idea how much this game and Sean’s playing it helped me overcome literally the darkest and coldest times in my life. Last year in winter there were massive blackouts in my country (I’m Ukrainian). I lived far away from the city cause it was too dangerous, away from my usual life and friends.
