Funeral scene is one of my favorites in this entire game and just in general out of any game. That split moment where he's just standing there at the light of the fire illuminating them and you can see the age. It dawns on you that you're looking at a kratos that has probably lived for maybe hundreds of years since the fall of Greece, his rage now subsided and instead you're able to see his sorrow even if hidden. You immediately get the impression that this is an old kratos who has mourned and had more than enough time on his hands to contemplate. In that moment you see his age
Well, IRL it was right around 1000 years between when ancient Greece was finally ended by the Romans after a long decline. (146BC) And when the Vikings really came on the scene. (865AD was when Ragnar Lothbrok really started the invading of England in earnest) So if the game follows anything remotely like a real life time line, then yeah, he'd be REALLY damn old. Lol
It actually astonishes me how they managed to make Kratos wiser from his time in Greece without it throwing the fans of those games completely off. Also that’s a long ass sentence.

It's even worse when you can actually relate to it, my gf soon to be wife passed away and everytime I see cutscenes like that in video games it hits home even harder.
Alebeard Im so dearly sorry! That sucks so bad... Can I have your beard? In all serious ness, I am so sorry for you loss. If only, the creator, who that may have been, was more patient, in visiting your wife.

So weird going back and seeing Jack from 4 years ago. The subtle changes he has made to his look and personality don't seem like much day to day but 4 years hits hard
I just realized that when the boy said "I half expected there to be a troll under that bridge," he was making a reference to the E3 demo fight with a troll that Jack mentioned.
Lmao, that was an atomic bomb being dropped followed by 5 more, causing an earthquake, which then caused a tsunami. And then ripped open the crust of the Earth and swallowed him up
“Um akhcythcually, kratos wanted the name to be Atreus and freya wanted his name to be Loki, the only reathon why kratos calls him boy isth becuase while the game was in production they didn’t decide on a name quick enoutghtg” 🤓
Boy “the forest seems different” Kratos “everything is different, try not to dwell on it” Kratos telling the player to not dwell and judge the new game Mechanics and acting 😂
yeah this series is crazy. not only did coming to Scandinavia prove to Kratos that eventually he would face off against at least one god, but that trouble seems to follow him and strike when he least suspects it.
He might be a hard ass, but I can see the reason why hes trying to teach his son to hunt without much help. After all, he needs to be sure his son can take care of himself when Kratos finally meets his match.
I wish that there were little side quests that were just Father-Son bonding. Like Kratos cooking Dinner for the two and letting Atreus help in little ways, or Kratos fishing with Atreus. Stuff that seems like "training" but is really just Kratos doing his best at being both himself and Faye for Atreus
I feel like you can tell when jack is genuinely excited for something and when he is just being himself, and im pretty sure i saw genuine excitement from him in this game and that just puts a smile on my face
1:01:25 Fun fact, when balder falls into the pit at the end. If you go into photo mode you can see him double flipping off kratos as he falls. The fact that he regenerated from a snapped neck that fast is incredible
Im now realizing Boy is a term of endearment for Kratos; when he's actually very serious and trying to appeal he says Atreus but when hes casually frustrated or normal he says Boy
The reason why Kratos calls Atreus "boy" a lot, is because when they were developing this game they didn't have a name for him for the longest time. So they had his voice actor Christopher Judge pretty much just call him "boy."
OMG I just realized that Kratos in a way is carrying the ashes of both of his wives throughout most of this game. His recent wife’s ashes in a pouch, he last wife’s ashes on his skin (well and his daughters too).
Kratos: B O Y, do you want to see your sister? Atreus: Yeah, sure Kratos: She’s right here ( places hand on chest) Atreus: Aww, she’s in your heart? Kratos: No, this is not my real skin color. I am literally covered in the ashes of my old wife and your sister Atreus: .... Kratos: I haven’t taken a shower since the day they died....
Riley Moore Yooo I think that’s a cool idea! But I’d like to think the ashes on his skin is symbolising that although Kratos has accepted his past sins as a part of him, he is still not free from them, forever etched into his soul. But little by little he’s learning to forgive himself for what he’s done. That or the devs just kept it in his design because it’s iconic
Can we address the fact that if Jack had Kratos' voice, of he cursed it would sound like he was going to murder/beat the shit out of someone to blow off some steam, and when he yelled/screamed it would sound like he was either summoning a demon or going super sayan, or whatever Kratos did while fighting the stranger.
I'm here watching again after Ragnarök, and I noticed something. At time marker 1:03:40 after Kratos pulls Atreus out of the floor, the camera pans slightly down to show you some red cloth peaking out, those are the blades. THE GAMEIS TELLING YOU THAT THEY ARE IN THE GAME AND WILL POTENTIALLY BE USED!!!!!!
Would of loved if the first time Kratos comes across the wooden chest Atreus says "Father we need a key" and Kratos just grunts punches through it and Atreus is like "right never mind'.
it's so interesting to listen to baldur's lines knowing now that he thought kratos was the giant he was looking for because he had faye's ashes on his hip. it really did seem like he was talking about greece vs scandinavia until you learn. the writers for this series are literally so clever i love it
17min54s A draugr is an undead creature from Norse mythology, an animated corpse that inhabits its grave, often guarding buried treasure. They possess super human strength and can increase their size at will. These entities were said to often come back even after being defeated. Cutting off the heads, burning the bodies and throwing the ashes in the sea were some of the many methods used to mutilate their bodies after defeat. 24min22s in Norse mythology, Idun (from Old Norse Iðunn, meaning "The Rejuvenating One") is a goddess depicted as the owner and dispenser of a fruit that imparts eternal youthfulness (to the gods). Unlike the Greek gods, gods in Norse mythology were actually mortal. 32min04s Skoll (Old Norse Sköll, “One Who Mocks”) and Hati (Old Norse Hati, “One Who Hates”) are two wolves who pursue the sun and moon through the sky, in hopes of devouring them. At Ragnarok (the downfall of the cosmos), they catch their prey as the sky and earth darken and collapse. 32min28s The "giants" (jötnar; "devourer" would be a better translation) were the first living beings in Norse mythology. They are constantly trying to drag the world back to primordial chaos (and, at Ragnarok, they succeed), which is why they fight the Aesir (who are the protectors of civilization). 38min04s "Nista" means "to pierce"/"to nail" in Old Norse, which would explain why Atreus says it when shooting arrows. 57min43 Since he's saying nothing can hurt him, the guy who attacked Kratos might be Baldr (son of Odin and Frigg), because he was nearly invulnerable (he was killed by a mistletoe arrow shot by the blind god Hodur, who was tricked and guided by Loki).

You never realize how good he is until you play the game yourself, I remember using all strength build from like my 5th-10th playthrough and the combat was amazing,so in depth and complex but one's you got the hang of it, it was fluid and fun
When Kratos says Leave My Home to Baldur, it's literally ALL the character growth in three words. From a man who would slaughter children, to a rage beast who would destroy the world for revenge. You would NEVER look at Early Kratos and expect him not to kill Anyone who hit him like that. Now he's so willing to avoid a fight that you literally have to beat one out of him.
Hes still a god and still unimaginably powerful but it doesn't come from his rage anymore it comes from his determination to be the father that BOI needs
@@theeguy9022 And I think I read that he's constantly holding back in all the fights which is why he might feel weaker in combat. He doesn't wanna lose himself in his rage again
Kratos isn't technically a God anymore since he had the Title of God of War taken away from him from Zeus but he still has his Godlike Powers since he was born a Demi God its kinda complicated lol

Rewatching this playlist for the 4th time, I’m just now realizing that Kratos tries to teach Atreus that shooting only once and precise is better than shooting multiple times fast without as good of accuracy, yet since the player is controlling Kratos and in turn controlling when and how fast Atreus shoots, he’s pretty much just telling the player that button mashing isn’t what it is in this game as it was in the older ones.

@@longhairedbastard I read last part with Kratos's voice and it was amazing. Nice job👍

Ok cool
Im going to guess that you are from Scandinavia (I am aswell)
