+Roundabout Woodworks I'll be using a piece of mahogany I have lying around and was wondering if you had any advice on a safe finish to put on it. Thanks.
Nice job, your skew skills are a pleasure to watch... I made one mistake when watching this ... let the Wife see me... now she wants me to make some for her Pregnant Co-Workers... Oh well live and learn...
Thanks! I've just become a great uncle so I'm planning a little present. I've looked at a few options but I think I like your method best of the ones I've seen. Some feedback if I may? I'm not very interested in watching sanding. For me (and I know you have a far wider audience) I would be happy for the sanding to be at high speed or only mentioned in your commentary and entirely left out of the video. Think how much editing it would save too! I guess you keep it to maintain the integrity of the process - I think that might be important to you - but I just end up skipping through it, which is OK. I like that you kept in your little catch. I felt your pain! (Don't ask why!😂)
Excellent screw chisel technique and abilities. I'm still trying to master the screw chisel. It seems to be a difficulty in overcoming it. I always get catches that destroy my work.
Hi, like others I really admired your skew chisel work and I have a question. What size skew chisel are you using and what is the angle at which it is ground. I'd really like to know. Cheers Keith (from New Zealand)
The bevel length is approximately one and a half times the thickness of the tool. I'm sorry, I don't have any way to measure the angle. The shorter the bevel the shorter cove that can be turned, but too short makes it tough to do anything else. A longer bevel makes a better surface off the tool.

B Lenane I use danish oil. It doesn't need much. Be sure to let it cure for a few days before letting her play with it.
+Roundabout Woodworks Ok. Thank you.
I love watching you work with the skew. You've inspired me to do more with my skew chisels. I'm improving steadily. Thanks.

Richard Katzman A light touch is needed. And a gentle but firm grip. That way a catch is a bit less destructive.
taught this was a great idea and something worth trying thank you was injoying to watch
phillyrocker1950 Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching!

Good video, I will also make one. What type of epoxy do you use?
I usually buy the five minute epoxy in the double tubes.
Nice work, what Part of Houston?
Nice ratle I buay one!
What do you finish it with?
why do you only paint prt of one thum nail? Like the rattle
That wasn't paint. That was an injury.
I live down in the Beaumont area, do you give lessons?
What will you handle the product?
I don't understand.
paint, stain, varnish, waxing?

I-Vento no trouble! I only use boiled linseed oil to allow for cleaning the rattle. I have used walnut oil, but BLO dries faster.
thanks for the answer
A coat of What I could not hear Thanks enjoyed it
i didn't either but most likely food/toy safe oil.
BLO?

No problem at all. :-) I should have painted it before anyone saw it, but there were witnesses.
If you put on closed captioning it says "this is a piece of ass"
