The Sue and Sandy first impression videos are fantastic. Y'all balance each other very well in what you appreciate about vehicles. Keep 'em comin'!
Much appreciated!
Agreed!
👍
@@MunroLive Sue likes it Sandy! She looks good in the EQS.
Sandy: meh I don’t like that
Sue: well ya know some people do?
REALLY like the addition of Mrs Munro; gives a whole new perspective on things. Keep it up!
Glad you liked it!
@@MunroLive she's really great. Lucky man there Sandy 🙂
@@MunroLive I agree, Sandy and Sue balance the gender mix (both highly intelligent), but Sandy and Cory balance the generational mix, and well as the politically (in)correct 🤣 a three way discussion would be ace, don't stay away too long Cory!
...or, maybe Sandy and Mrs Cory
A proper car well built and classy. Tesla have a lot to lean when it comes to quality
Sue´s impressions from seeing, touching and using elements of the interior were so genuine. It really lets you appreciate the engineering and design details put into this vehicle.
Love to have Lady Munro give her impressions. She is so remarkably adept and adaptable. Wow. You are a very lucky man!
Where the hell did you find such a woman?
Agreed!
Sandy obviously tricked her somehow... 😀
LOL Remove the access to the Frunk to avoid Sandy from having a heart attack! That's Mercedes engineering and forethought!
😂 true
Lets face it when you are going for a family car . Both partners participate. Thats why Sandy and Sue are the perfect way to evaluate a new vehicule. Keep it up Munro Live.
I would make the rugrats and the dog go in the old station wagon. No way their sticky everything is going into a nice car
Imagine what the divorce rate would be if the 2-car family hadn't come about, lol.
@@donjones4719 Or the opposite: when you can negotiate which car to buy, then you can sort out everything.
Sue totally rocked it! Please have her check out all the new cars her perspective is precious!
Always nice to see Sue make an appearance.
I loved the depth and insight that Sue brings to the conversation, based on her Master and decades of experience. Move over Sandy!
PhD
"You could put a surfboard in here" says Sandy, naming the thing that S-class Mercedes owners are least likely to do.
The VW company boss went surfing on a hydrofoil surfboard though...
@@abraxastulammo9940 Not a happy ending though...
You never know what bling bling rappers will do
Good to have a reviewer who is not already familiar with the manufacturer - so she can see how intuitive the designs are
My 2003 Audi A2 has the same slick design of windscreen fluid access without opening the bonnet. Plus there's the dipstick and oil filller there too. Only 19 years later someone else has done this. It's great and so obvious.
Interesting, I don't think A2 came to N.America
@@pablopicaro7649 i sont know is sandy even know about the existence of the Audi A2 but it was a revolutionary vehicle, the first vehicle to be made entirely 100% of aluminum, the most fuel efficient car of its class and super practical too
@@pablopicaro7649 thé A2 is a vehicle by excellence for EV conversion with its super light body and low drag coef
In the case of the Audi A2, that was a nicer solution. Especially for a luxury limousine, I find such a small opening very disturbing for the otherwise very smooth overall picture
what happens if a tiktok mad kid try to fill it with something else than washer fluid? I don't think this is a good idea, at least in some countries
I was considering this car, as a change after the cheap feeling of my Model S. Eventually decided against is. Most of it is personal taste, but there were objective issues too. The deal breaker is charging. It's not too big issue in Western Europe, but everywhere else charging sucks if you don't drive a Tesla. My country has very poor charging coverage, except for the Superchargers, which are at exactly the right places. It's like Tesla were building them for me personally.
The next big one is decision fatigue. There are so many options for this car, you often can't select them independently, and I don't even know what a lot of them are. Configuring this car would require a few hours of consultation with an expert sales person. Then several hours of research at home. Then another hour long talk with the sales person. Meanwhile I can buy a Tesla on my phone under 1 minute. OK, I don't have to do it too often, but once is bad enough.
Lol, agreed on the supercharger locations. Tesla sure did their homework and yet continue to improve.
Lol at "expert sales person". This is why most people get fleeced out of their cash, they are only "expert" at convincing you to part with it! 🤣
The S is an economy car beside the EQS!!
What model year is your S? Huge quality improvements in the “Raven” 2019-2020 cars and then again another big jump for the refreshed 2021+ ones with the yolk wheel.
Thank you for the term: „decision fatigue“. One thing I enjoyed immensely ordering my Tesla is the short decision process: LR or Performance? 6 colors, 2 interior colors, 3 wheel options and that’s about it. And the process was helped along by the fact that the free option often is the best one.
Great to see a woman give her feelings and thougts about it. They have a much more subtle opinion about different things on a car.
The EQS is a masterpiece, I should say. Still some things could have been slightly better, but hey, that thing is a proper Mercedes Benz S-Class, but electric.
I love having Sue's comments on the vehicles. It's good to have a second opinion. I am glad she explored the passenger options. "Maybe Eric will take us for a ride!" Loved that comment. Sandy and Sue are a great team.
Love both of the Munro’s points of views, Sue is the voice of an experienced costumer and Sandy is the technical approach to car and design please bring more videos and Kudos to both !
Sue and Sandy are great.. I want to see a TV series of them taking a vacation on an RV they're not familiar with, figuring it out as they go!
Rear seat infotainment is an option. Two large screens on the backs of the front seats. The "phone holder" in the front edge of the rear arm rest extends further, with a partial press, to become a cup holder as well. The ambient lighting may not match everyone's taste, but the new functionality and effects are very impressive. The main elements are no longer one color; they can sweep different colors side to side (within one strip) and do many other things. Safety systems, like blind spot assist, can also use the ambient light strips to flash warnings.
many things but in my opinion the functionality of most things is just too bad. from the software design, responsiveness to the positioning of the screens just makes the whole experience so much worse then teslas
Sue has excellent taste. And yes, we got it, Sandy. Too much bling for you. And of course, it’s not a Model S.
20% Tech - 80% Feelings = Loved it!
Awesome video, more Sue... she's amazing and has a great eye for automotive style and what luxury is supposed to look like
Couldn't agree more!
I like the Sandy&Sue show! Keep 'em coming! Good perspectives!
I get to work on those wonderful machines, EQB, EQS-suv and EQE coming soon.
And they are wonderful.
The multi position hatch would come in real handy when you haul long lumber!!!
In your $100k luxury sedan 🤣
I like to keep a new car looking new for as long as possible, so I wouldn't do that for the first few weeks.
Don't forget all the bags of manure it'll hold!!!
Or that occasional trip to the county dump
@@raddaks2039 It'd be great to show off how much lumber you can afford.
MB doing what MB does best. Interior fit and finish and ambient lighting
And sound proofing, sound quality, confort and some others 😀
@@FlorinArjocu nothing new
It also drives as a proper lux sedan. Fabulous ride, superbly quiet with powerful acceleration. And lest we forget, longer real world range than any Tesla. Finally one of the best charging curves in the business. All the credentials of one "best of breed EVs" with the driving experience of a full size Benz.
I have a major beef about 'shinny' surfaces. They are dust collectors and finger print holders. Also reflect unwanted objects in certain situations. They need to be nonglare finish and get rid of the 'black'!!
Mrs. Munro is a fine judge of style. Elegant. Some bling without looking like a cartoon.
It's quite funny how speechless Sandy is, when his wife explains things. That is a good sign. I really like this new format!
This is great, love hearing both opinions, please do this more often 😀
Wonderful to have TWO points of view, especially from Lady Sue! Please kee3p both coming in future reviews. I was really impressed by the fit and finish. Seems to be a really luxury car.
Sue appreciating this car is so wholesome
I'm pretty sure that if you fill the window washer you will be spilling fluid down the paintwork unless you are especially careful.
No frunk? A major miss.
This is awesome! I love the different views of the car, refreshing :-)
I like Sue's perspective....and of course Sandy's...great review and what a nice car....
Glad you enjoyed it
It kind of reminds me of what a next generation Volkswagen Passat or CC would look like. I enjoy the videos with you both.
"This will save a fortune in bungie cords! " 😂😂😂 Yes Sandy, customers of these frequently pick up large things and transport them in their luxury sedans with bungies. 😂😂😂 He cracks me up sometimes.
Audi did that washer fluid thing 20 years ago with the Audi A2. The bonnet was also not user removable and it had two pop out thingies to put the washer fluid and I think the other was to check the oil
Also the i8 comes to mind. However that basically has the most user *un*friendly implementation.
Nice car, true luxury.
The washer fluid fill is there because the hood is not -designed- intended to be opened by the owner/user.
Good to see Sandy speechless! I enjoyed Sue's point of view; she had a good hands-on attitude! Well done!
Thanks Dan
Looking forward to the next collaboration of Sue and Sandy! Thank you!
LOL. I wonder what Sandy was thinking? I can imagine a car like this would be an engineering nightmare. But, there will no doubt be people with the money who would want this.
Hi Douglas, how are you, my friend?
I agree, Sandy and Sue who are both engineers, would be advertising their skill set to adopt any and all new projects with reverse engineering in mind.
So, they would anticipate people's questions so in hind sight get them to look deeper into their own products.
I found Sue's perspective refreshing and Sandy's position reassuring. What do you think?
This video really confirms the fact that Munro doesn’t know "everything" in the automotive industry! Also has ever sat in a sclass. Mercedes has tons and tons of customization from rear entertainment screens to all wheel steering, amazing interior lighting and much more….
You can open the hood but you have to pull the plastic cover off the inside under the driver side dash
Correct
The big thing on this car is it‘s energy-efficiency while driving, with its 5.2m it is a verry long car (at least in Europ).
Great to see the impressions of the two of you.
Love the first impressions from Sue and Sandy
DRIVE IT, it is super quiet and comfortable!
Ride and Drive video coming soon.
@@MunroLive thank you Munro team!
The speakers too are out of this world 🌍
@@carholic-sz3qv I have Burmester sound system in my E-Class and it is very very very good. Burmester DSP is particularly good in 1. quality and naturality of low frequencies and 2. presentation of sound stage / being naturally surrounded by sound. Sound system in EQS is supposedly even better.
From engineering perspective one thing is interesting - the subwoofer (at least on the E-Class) is part of the IP which saves space in the trunk and actually sounds even better.
@@the_robot0001 ok, subwoofer in the front.
It’s quite interesting to hear both of your opinions and the differences. I liked this because having both of you stating what you both like. Great video.
Love sue comments, gives another point of view
Sandy - Your Wife's comments and analysis are an excellent compliment to your own comments and analysis!
Thank you kindly!
Love this episode
Love the car but they can lose 50% of the swag and it would still be to much swag.
I don't like all the interior lights. will gave me headache
Crazy money and superficial features that will undoubtedly be unreliable. Guess it's better than ICE cars. Suppose if you have the money to blow on the initial price you don't care about maintenance cost/repairs.
That's what you do when you need to show car better (at least in quality materials and luxury look) then Tesla, but you don't have to make money producing it. It's a statement for Mercedes not a product.
Listen to Sandy and use the tech terms, "too much razzle dazzle."
Sandy brought the Boss in to help... Good Job. ;-)
I really like your technical analyses!
Not everybody likes a spartan interior and no knobs or buttons or no chrome. For me its a selling point. I like all three. Tesla's look too plain for the cost, now no bright work on the outside, reminds me of a police cruiser.
Sandy is trying to poo poo down the number of buttons and Sue gets in and says she loves it and wants buttons for those frequently used functions rather than searching menus. I've got to say Sue I agree with you.
what? you don't like tapping the screen all day?
I really appreciate Sue's approach...much more open to new ideas or figuring out the how and why. Sandy can be pretty objective regarding the engineering aspects, but his personal preferences seem to cloud his judgement of the overall package.
I think Sandy makes it quite clear that many aspects are subjective.
Great video as per usual.
It definitely looks and makes you feel special. Most is too much for me, but I love those rear lights.
The B pillar in this car is HUGE. Presumably for rollover protection to keep the battery weight from caving in the roof.
Mercedes does not have ADVANCED manufacturing like TESLA does.
I like how Sandy taste aligns with industry trend, and Su's taste aligns with the luxury market.
I'm an engineer so I can't disagree with Sandy, but kudos for another great car on the market.
And thank you Tesla for pushing other companies to finally release cars that actually look like the concept drawings.
If you really wanted to, you CAN open the front trunk....Just unscrew a little tab under the driver's side dashboard and the usual red release handle shows up. It's even marked accordingly... Not sure if that would void any guarantee, though....
I love the dynamic between Sandy and Sue, wonderfully contrast and compliment one another ❤️💙💛
Too bad three prong will go to any lengths to avoid a warranty. As long as the car is working they can be great. Good luck if you ever have a warranty issue.
Like the couple takes on cars. It is though a very yummy car to drive and own. Unlike other cars I've had I do not get tired in it. I stick to it being the best car made so far. Two points though, back seat entertainment is an available option, so are executive seats that are even more comfy for the back seat passanger.
Great looking car. I look forward to the specs and stats.
Looks like the keyword for market differentiation here is "excess". All the logos, all the lights, all the screens, and all the creature comfort (as well as buttons :). Others will have to fight really hard to stand out from the Tesla and Mercedes corners of the market.
Interesting car- just glad more and more EVs are coming out- the more that do, and hopefully sell, will help expedite our transition to a non-carbon-fueled world! And enjoy seeing you and your wife work together. If I may ask, what is her area of expertise at Munro and Associates- besides keeping Sandy in line;-)
Yup, the more the better!
Talking about S series as a family car, makes me think you don't quite get the target audience for it. This is literally electrified S series and it targets the same consumers.
I was very surprised you even compared the rear seat comfort to plaid since I remember you complaining about how vertical and not ideal the seating position was.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
My old Audi a2 had a washing fluid solution just like the eqs and I have been missing it ever since.
You’re not just talking to the rich folks, it’s great comparing the luxury cars to “normal folk cars” to see what’s actually different
The boss seems to be more relaxed when Sue is aroud.
More like turned down
He’s on a leash??
Luxurious. Just a bit big for me. If the upcoming EQE is as good...
No comment about the front and rear frameless doors?
The rear door has a small fixed window. I never saw that before for a frameless door.
The Mercedes-Benz EQ line looks amazing. The new standard in BEV luxury. Even Mrs. Munro is impressed.
Looks like a bar of soap lmao
@@relansis6962 still looks better than the Model Y and 3.
I’ve always been a fan of the c class and especially the e class
Beautiful car, it was made for her for sure. My wife would love it too lol.
When asked by Sandy if she would buy this car, she replied no.
& the deep purple paint!! sharp ride..
Great balance of opinions to consider.
We need Sue in more videos!
The Audi A2 had a function to fill in fluids without opening the hood, SOP 1999 😉
Sue is spot on, I agree!
The a2 is a very innovative and overlooked car
the trunk button in the door will help sort people close the trunk very handy
Mercedes in Scottsdale uses this as their courtesy shuttle. I was so confused by some of the textures and fabrics. I guess you can always make the materials nicer and remove the chrome so it looks more upscale depending on your target demographic. I can’t wait till this is discontinued and we can look back at it objectively without any marketing hype.
Great video guys.
“If the servants are charging it…” Sandy is hilarious 🤣
3:15 - It is actually not too hard to open the "bonnet". There is a screw under the left side of the dash (for the American EQS) which is holding a little door closed. Remove the screw and the door and voila there is a lever that opens the hood.
5:44 - The panel gaps are irrelevant. This is a press car, they don't let the press see any cars that are not perfect. True for Ford, GM, and all the others. The panel gaps that count are the ones on an ordinary production car that is headed for a regular customer.
This is an electric S class, my friend. It doesn’t know what panel gaps are
the passenger can watch youtube videos while driving.
if the driver is watching onto this display, it will shut off automaticly because of tracking your eye movment
I am lucky enough to deliver cars for a living, recently had the 450 version for a couple of days. The ride quality and soundproofing is outstanding.
The dash is slightly over complex, but it was surprisingly economical with a long drives at 280 wh/pm.
The current UK models have aero wheels and very drab colours :-(
I liked Sue’s participation, for sure. I just expected a little more technical analysis. Performance, efficiency, tech, etc.
We have more videos coming on the EQS, this was just Sandy and Sue’s first initial impressions.
@@MunroLive looking forward to it!
I haven’t seen a drag race against a plaid and a lucid yet. Maybe you can pull this off. That would be amazing!
she's the lady such cars are made for
But then the EQS got friendzoned at 26:28 "Would you buy it? No. But I like it."
Love the spectrum of views between the two of you.
Thanks David
The kitchen have alot of chrome too. I prefer the various breakdowns from the same people for fair comparisons.
It’s a head up display, not heads up. People will probably pee in the wiper fluid filler.
HAHAHA Gives new meaning to that Calvin (of Calvin and Hobbes) peeing window sticker that was so popular decades ago.
I believe it's locked when the car is locked
Could just be me... But I'm not feeling this car at all... But I was never a big fan of Mercedes to begin with.
Audi A2 had a separat flap for washer fluid and motor oil already 2001. Main reasons was the ability to loose weight on the hood hinges, there where none.
Best Yet, S & S Reviews (Sandy and Sue's Reviews), love the back and forth between you two and the two very different "educated " perspectives, you want to see subscribers, you would pull all age groups women and men....Corey I hope you take notice, maybe a limited spin off to begin, this has huge potential!
Regarding the car, I like the trim as it highlights the lines, the ambient lighting no doubt has an off switch, the only thing that really concerns me is the potential glare from side to side dash instrument/entertainment panel.
Calling the electric car with the lowest drag coefficient *rather sleek* might be a bit of an understatement.
THIS is the 580. Only the 450+ has the lowest drag coefficient.
With non rolling wheels... it s worse with rolling wheels, which they are meant to be! Tesla measures it drag coefficient with rolling wheels.
Great seeing Sandy articulate his love of Keep It Simple philosophy!!
Absolutely!
Not everyone has to live simple/boring stuffs, I actually like the fact that all cars aren’t the same, crazy features are always welcomed! You remember the Mercedes’ single blade washer from years ago!? Mercedes can basically do everything they want, they have the expertise.
If the batteries were lighter I’m sure Mercedes’ would have already made the longer wheel base of this vehicle including armoured version like they did with the ICE variant sclass.
EXCEPT for washer fluid filling. In an alternate universe Sandy would be criticizing the feature for its parts count and panel gap fitting requirements and cascading costs when it's so much simpler to just open the hood. How hard it that? The reservoir just has to be conveniently located. And I'm more likely to spill fluid on the paint with an exterior fill.
One thing may explain this: in a Michigan winter do they go through a gallon of washer fluid in a week?
@@carholic-sz3qv I just came across a video on the Subaru XT of 1985. It had a single wiper blade that retracted when not in use, which helped its remarkably low drag coefficient. Had a lot of other features that were ahead of it's time.
I do like the design of the EQS apart from a little weirdness around the base of the A pillars, its heavy and sort of blank looking.
They’re coat hooks, use the loop inside your coat to hang it up.
The front hood can be opened as with all conventional vehicles. Or was it really removed from the US version?
But in terms of taste, I'm more like Sandy, too much bling bling. With all the lights, it's more reminiscent of a posh strip club
It can be opened
Oooh, Mercedes will get some hot ears from Sandy for not providing a frunk. 😁
& no beer storage
I prefer the Lucid air. The EQS If a foot longer with less interior space than the Air. Also, the air includes a nice sized power frunk, which says a lot about the design of powertrain and powertrain placement.
Thank you 🌹🌹🌹🙏🏻.
