Anybody who doesn't have Steve Perry on their list of top vocalists of all time is simply incorrect.
That was a nice way of saying they don't know what they are talking about. 😆
My sister insists that Steve Perry isn’t that good of a vocalist , and I tried to prove her wrong but I’m not good at getting my point across most of the time but one day I will show her…
You are correct sir. Steve Perry has the best voice in rock n roll. No one even comes close.
Thats correct
Oh he's on my list all right....
Kids, this was not digitally remastered or auto tuned . This is was real music and it was LIVE
Right! No rap crap or hippity hop, only tunes with melodies-real music!!
He was absolutely untouchable in his prime.
Steve Perry has always been the top male rock vocalist in the history of Rock n Roll!! There will never be a finer artist or person!! 💖
@Steve Perry You’re an absolute loser for trying to trick people into thinking that Steve Perry is reaching out to them.
Absolutely. Never ever be another Steve Perry
Best of the best
I think we should pass a law that mandates every time Lights is played, Stay Awhile MUST be played immediately afterwards. ❤❤❤
I'd sign that petition!
I couldn't agree more, 110%! Lights followed by Stay Awhile is a must! Its like the way Feeling That Way should always be followed by Anytime! One doesn't feel complete without the other.
@krispritchett8409 Oh snap......I forgot about that pairing. Thanks for the reminder.
I remember getting those albums and how I would look forward for the radio station to have its "twofer Tuesdays" because I knew they would play BOTH songs.
Should be a Law...the Live 1980 Version up is the next best thing but I bet if we see and hear this 1981 Escape Version, might be a tad bit better. but how can one perfect something already perfect....
Steve's voice is insanely good. No one else even comes close.
Uh um micheals voice is something u see once in a life time even as a lil kid
Steve perry said it himself never heard anything like him oh hes good
@@byronherrera1568 Michael who?
@@td780 I believe he's referring to Michael Jackson
Listen to deen sing journey..I'll put him against Steve anytime
Deen and Arnel are great singers and I’m not the type of person to say modern day Journey is a “cover band” but no one beats Steve Perry. He’s the best singer ever.
In their defense, not even Steve can do this music 100% anymore, and I’ve heard Deen get 95% of the way there at his age. Plus, the rigors of doing this kind of music as a touring band every night is no small accomplishment for Arnel, and Steve even gave his blessing to him.
Steve Perry has the perfect voice! Liquid gold! Best vocalist ever. Irreplaceable.
Yes. I wouldn't change anything.
Have to agree. Just like his and Shon's song "Patiently" says, "One in a million..."
not anymore :(
Age has caught up to him. But Journey's tours in 81, 83 and 86 are the good standard of arena rock. I loved the 81 tour but the set lists in 83 and 86 were phenomenal.
irreplaceable indeed
Steve's voice is the best musical instrument I've heard
There's two people I've seen live who's vocals were just insanely good Steve perry and freddy mercury!
Dio, Franco Corelli and Del Monaco are the bests singers I've heard.
I could listen to this performance on repeat for eternity.
Dawn Lynette
Yep. 😊
Yes...right on...👍
Along with every other gem they had....
Me too.
Ditto
you're obviously a Journey fan, when you're searching relatively obscure hits of theirs...like this one. Its not their biggest hit, by far. But, the power of Schon and Steve's lyrics and Steve's vocals out front on this song, has dug up all kinds of of emotion in me...that is the power off music. But its also the power and effectiveness of Perry's voice. All depending on what was going on in my life at the time, this song has made me cry..laugh..think...make love, harder...fight and argue, etc. And all of those memories are attached to Journey's music and Steve Perry's AMAZING voice. A once in a lifetime voice.
I love this song and the whole concert is phenomenal. I have the DVD, which I absolutely love! I love the Journey years with Steve Perry. For me, those songs are all so special, because Steve Perry wrote and co-wrote their hit songs and they meant so much to him. He's a powerhouse vocalist, but it's not just about singing the songs, it's about connecting to the songs and touching people's hearts. Steve Perry does this beautifully, because his passion and emotions come straight from his heart and soul and you can hear it in his voice and the way he performs. Everyone in the group is a sensational musician and so talented. I love Journey with Steve, and always will! ♥♥🎵🎶🎤
Such a tender soul. Nobody sounds like him or sings with such sensitivity. One in a million.
The vocals of Arnel Pineda and Deen Castronovo sounds perfect like Steve.
My God this man is so perfect in all aspects, so glad I came up in the 70's and 80's and got to witness this in real time...
Oh yes me too
Lucky you. Listening over and over, there were no in-ear monitor but he neither miss a tone quarter..
me too ... I came up in the 60s-80s ... BEST music in the world !! ... & you're right, seeing Steve back then was indescribable !! ... and now that he's back, pure heaven on earth ...
💜💜💜💜🎶🎤🎶💜💜💜💜
Amen! You and me and everyone else who grew up in that era!
Music isn't the same in this day and age! We had great music growing up in the 70's and 80's.
u were at the concert
I was fortunate to see the Journey Escape tour in August of 81. To this day of all the concerts I have seen, I have never heard a vocalist sound as amazing as Steve Perry did on this tour. The entire band was at the pinnacle of their career. The sound was like listening to the Escape album on your stereo but better.......Joey
You are very fortunate😡
It sure was! I saw them live many times and it was simply magical. So glad we have these videos!
Dang, I was 5 y.o.
I remember that night at the Summit. There was an announcer and he told the crowd that they were gonna be doimg some filming and recording so be a little extra enthusiastic. Like, as if we really needed to be told to do so.
I saw them during that tour. Loverboy was the opening act. Excellent performance by both bands.
My first concert ever! Journey 1981, Boston Garden. Fabulous! I was 16!
I’m so glad I was a child of the late 70s and 80s. We were mesmerized back then and now it is still......OH MY GOD - THAT VOICE!
The body and the hair was pretty good too !❤
Me too. I love this song is followed by Falling or it came before it
Me too me too.Saw journey live multiple times.Including the frontiers tour at jfk philly 1983.We lived through the best of times.
The Passion of the whole show is EPIC😘🏇🏻🏇🏻🎸
The whole band and their show was such a well-polished craft. They knew (or figured out) how to write songs that would capture listeners by the ears and by the hearts. And they developed the incredible chops that are necessary to perform with enough ease to be far more expressive and musical than most rock bands. Those guys worked their asses off, and the result is beautiful.
It's a shame Greg Rollie and Neal Schon left Santana but the end result was beautiful.
77 to 82 best journey years. B4 the infighting. They all look so happy. That changes
amen
You said it Scott. Well put!
Completely agree !
Until egotistical Neal had to ruin everything by firing Steve Perry. Schon was too gutless to even tell Steve himself. He had Jonathan Cain do it. What a coward!!
Perfection! Loving this song in 2024🔥🔥🔥Does it get any better?!? Heck no! 💕xx
So happy I saw them 3 times back in the day. The one band I was completely zoned in to. OMG I could listen to Steve all day everyday
Steve Perrys vocals are nothing short of breathtaking. What an amazing band.
Steve! Thank you for your voice what a blessing for so many years!
I Saw Journey In August 1980 On The Departure Tour With The Joe Perry Project Opening At The Providence Civic Center In Rhode Island. Steve & Co. Were Incredible That Night !!!
Steve's Voice Was Second To None & Neil's Shredding Was Unbelievable !!! Always One Of My Favorite Guitarists, Through Journey. Hardline, HSAS, & Bad English, The Guy Was & Still Is Last I Knew, Always A BEAST !!!!I Was Lucky Enough To Be On The Guest List With Backstage Passes That Night In 1980 & Got To Meet The Band. Being A Gearhead "Car Guy" LOL,
I Asked Steve Perry What He Drove Out Of Curiosity.
He Told Me That He Drove An Old VW Bug LMFAO
Journey will never be Journey without this beautiful man..
Just incredible! One of my favorite Steve Perry (Journey) songs. I just wish it was longer. No one else could do this song and all Journey songs justice but the great talented Mr. Steve Perry!
You got that right !♥
Was at the Atlanta show of this tour and my God, Steve Perry was beyond belief, simply unreal.
Anyone else can sing it but hearing Steve Perry sing any song including this one renders all other versions not worthy of remembering! What a gift this man has at any age. Vocals can change but the feeling and meaning he puts into each and every song he sings makes it worth listening to again and again. Thank you Steve Perry for the once again sharing the gift of your voice with us mortals. Keep on singing, I will keep listening until I enter heaven where I am sure they play all your songs all the time.
I really wish this song was about three minutes longer. I'd fall asleep to this angelic music, any night!!
You can always go into the video settings and loop the video.
Chills all over hearing this for who knows how many times. In 65 and Steve gets me every time.
My God, his range is phenomenal.
What a voice! Perfect Singer! Wonderful Band! ❤️🎼🎶
This is my favorite Journey song. Steve!!!❤❤❤
This leaves me speechless. I thought I had seen them all. This. Wow. OMG
Just thankful to modern technology we are able to listen and watch SP over and over. He's got the golden voice during his time with journey. Heard his new song "No Erasin', and his voice has aged but still distinct. I can always tell it's Steve Perry.
Cristina De Leon he still has the golden voice. Go watch the video of him singing with the Eels in Los Angeles. He’s amazing.
You are so right
I love We're still here!!
He is one of the best singers of all time. I really don’t know who is better than Steve, at his peak. Such natural talent.
Just ordered this concert dvd off Amazon. They’ll never tour like this again and I never had the opportunity to see them “back in the day”, so this Houston dvd is the closest I can get. AMAZING. ❤️
Denise S....did you like the DVD you got on Amazon??? Will get it if you liked it. I can't imagine it would be anything but stellar!!! It is Steve Perry after all!
@@lisaswanson418 - I got the dvd and it’s great! It’s so much better when the whole concert flows from one song to the next and is not broken in pieces like you find here. And it makes you feel like you’re actually in the venue. If you decide to order it, be sure to watch it on the biggest screen you’ve got, at night, sitting in the dark. And crank up the volume as loud as you dare to!
Wow...Saw them twice, once on the Escape Tour and the 2nd time with the Frontiers Tour.. This guy is pure perfection..
it's insane to me how easy and effortless he makes it look. he's hitting those high notes, doing those runs, and his voice sounds beautiful. it's like he's not even trying. i could watch him sing forever.
Steve Perry's voice = liquid gold.
I don't believe that the world is ever going to see an era of music like the one that they mastered again.
He could sing in many different styles but he also had natural charisma. At one time he was pn People Magazine's handsomest men's list. His talents made him a rich man and he got out before he lost his soul very smart as well.
One of my favorites! His voice is just incredible.
I'll be honest ... I grew up on the rock we heard on FM stations like KLOS in Los Angeles during the '70s and '80s, so I heard a lot of Journey and Steve Perry, but everything I heard was recorded in the studio.
I always admired Steve's singing voice, but I always assumed it sounded so perfect due to the studio. To hear him in concert is to be blown away. What an incredible voice. So much power and range, and it never cracks. He was amazing.
Simply the greatest lead singer ever
This song is a classic and the reason is Mr. Perry's voice. He owns the song and the stage
Still the man of my dreams
...the thing about Steve was he had such a command of his voice, he could take liberties with the melodies so that even while things sounds as good as the recordings, they were different enough from the recordings that could couldn't wait to see them live and hear what he was going to do. This whole concert is a great example of that.
It doesn’t get any better then this...
This song brings tears to my eyes. So great!!! ❤
Unbelievable singing! Your voice just moves me like no other singer!
Wow, I was 6 yrs old when this came out. Havent heard it til now.
He could melt a woman's heart serenading her with this one.
He has. Lol. Many times. I speak from experience and UA-cam. 😉
Best Voice Ever!
Rodrigo Abi Saber I completely agree with you!
How come they suddenly decided to release the entire concert from Houston?
this is before they had all this bullshit computerized vocal correction. this is just Steve and a microphone. pure talent.
Estoy enamorada de mi Steve Perry. Mi amor de mi vida
@@balutanski Exactly!!! Check it out:

It's just Steve's voice ❤❤❤
This was the best concert ever for Journey, and this song was amazing! The fans went crazy and Steve’s performance was just unbelievable. Can’t say enough about it…just so incredible!!!
Perfection. This whole concert was just......wow.
Really fortunate to have seen them live a few times! 1979 and 1980.Wow!
I married to this song, and also buried my mom and dad and brother to this song. Still listen to it all the time. It gets me through my days!
Such an incredibly romantic song. Who could resist such beauty?
Wow its been over 40 years or more that I've heard this song. Only one Journey. Great stuff
The best voice ever. Love, love love.
Steve Perry has the Golden Voice. Greatest in Rock and Roll! ❤️
Angelic voice. I grew up with Journey. One of the greatest bands of all time, especially, up to the Escape album ... not so much after that.
Amazing performer, vocals, songs, musicianship, amazing band! I love THIS Jouney!
Yep I was there that boy can sing!!!!😎❤️🎼✌️
Mesmerising. I need to add something though. There's no one else on this earth that could pull through that blouse. Seriously, he actually looks good in it.
that outfit with the suspenders was waaaaaaaaaaay worse
It doesn’t get any better then this....
I'd definitely stay with you awhile Steve..yes I would. Timeless music takes me back to my youth..
So much talent than all of the "singers" today! Steve perry the voice.
Hitting their stride. That best describes Journey during the early 80's. Not only this line-up but this period of time. They had it all.
I listen to him all the time ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊
I love listening to Steve sing everyday...just brightens my day❤
Mine too in 2022 and beyond! Always FTLOSP! 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Steve Perry got sick on this tour right before he got to Salt Lake City. So they come back for two powerful nights it was awesome. Still my favorite tour was raised on radio there is simply no one likes Steve Perry. It’s hard to believe he’s 72 time flies bye I lived my dream during this era I would love to go back and do it one more time.
❤Love, Love ❤️ this song since I was 1st was a teenager ❤😂😊😊😊
Always on the radio and I loved it more and more each time I heard it and then I had to buy the cassettes 😅😂🎉🎉❤
Though it's hard to choose, this has always been one of my all-time favorite Journey songs. Aside from his spot-on masterful vocals, this song captures the angst, the joy and the fear one feels when starting to fall for someone. That mixture of powerful and subtle feelings that overtake our very existence and every second when all we want is to be in that special someone's company. Makes me emotional every time. 😢❤
That last line after the break..."with me awhile"....just hits me every single time! I'm so glad I got to see him with Journey live many times. Those were some magical moments.
I agree with Frances. He's a very rare gem of talent.
Sweetest voice of all time!!
The version of these 2 songs on captured is the best ever.
What a voice...!!
Beautifully sung, Mr Perry!
Sweet ending... gave me chills up my spine!!! Their amazing !
Hell yes!!!
Just might be my favorite Journey song, really hard to decide though, SO many great ones.
So true. They don't have a bad song at all. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Jacob Tobias precious time is pretty bad
Just beautiful and perfect in every way! ♥
No one better!!!
This concert in houston texas was so awesome memories of the greatest man Steve Perry I'll live this night forever 💓
He’s a best in the world❤
1981 and LIVE...and still kicks majority of what's out today to the curb....unreal....
None better than Steve. Most amazing talent
I'd sing any song your heart desires since 1978..love you Steve♥️♥️
I love 😍this sweet voice 🎤🎵💕
Never been a better singer than Steve Perry circa 1980.
This song played on my pioneer super tuner through a pair of 6x9 coaxial speakers nonstop
He has such God given talent. He is spot on even when live, which isn't common! Brings back my high school years. So glad he was such a part of my life!
Благодарю тебя, Стив за твой совершенный вокал,за то что подарил мне и всему миру прекрасные песни, за это потрясающее шоу в Хьюстоне!
Would love to stay with him awhile ❤️❤️❤️
Love it . a Masterpiece for Steve's Voice .
I love this song,
Huge Journey fan. Steve Perry does have an insanely amazing voice. I would say him and Freddy Mercury are the two greatest rock vocalists of all time.
Post-pandemic Journey + Steve Perry Tour. We’ve earned it!!
Legend
One of my absolute favorites! Love love love this song!❤️❤️❤️ It stays on repeat.
WITH THIS JOURNEY NO song is without FREAKING BRILLIANCE!!
