I need this Lannister casterly rock situation explained further
It was probably a case of Lan, secretlymurdering off all of house Casterly, so the current lord legitimised a bastard related to Lan as his heir making house Lannister.
I mean, no one has to "come up with that" it's just logical.
@@theaveon1214 That doesn't really seem like the *probable* case. Lann would've had to spend an enormous amount of time in managing to assassinate all Casterlys with enough quietude as to not be caught. That version is rather fantastical, what the lore states as probable is that Lann served Lord Casterly as retainer and managed to sway Casterly to let him wed his daughter whom Lann impregnated. Having no male issues the Casterly name then went extinct as the Casterly child of the lady and Lann became the first Lannister.
According to the ASOIAF wiki “Stories differ in the method by which Lann took Casterly Rock from House Casterly. In the most common version, Lann, having stripped naked and coated himself in butter, squeezed through a secret cleft in the stone. Once inside he confused the sleeping Casterlys by whispering threats, howling like a demon, stealing treasures from one brother and placing them in the bedchamber of another, and rigging traps. Thus, he set the Casterlys at odds with one another and convinced them their seat was haunted.”

Despite House Stark being my favorite of the Noble families of Westeros, I'd say that my favorite icon from this time period is Garth Greenhand, then Bran the builder and then, well everyone else.

House Dayne is really fascinating and I think it will play an important role in the future of the series... I also really like the theory that they are descendants of explorers from the great empire of the dawn who followed a falling star to the mouth of the torrentine river and founded Starfall

I really hope that the age of heroes prequel brings the Red Kings of House Bolton against the Winter Kings of House Stark. I would love to see that again, because both houses have very interesting history, and the fact that we don't know enough about the Boltons than the Starks.

well its to bad for all of you the age of heroes isnt happening, considering hbo canceled it for being to woke, now they are doing aegon;s conquest of westeros, which will have generational characters for years to come and lots of great targaryen heroes and kings to get behind. Dragon riders will be cool, hopefully they throw in some white walker stuff for good measure.

any plans for the exploration of more of the lesser known noble houses such as House Wythers in the Reach since their house sigil is a gray squirrel and that squirrels are now trending and exceptionally awesome (did not see them mentioned in your previous episodes)

10,000 - 8,000 BC? I never really payed much attention to the dates here, but I always assumed that the Age of Heroes was much longer than that. Hmmm...
The Pact (10K BC) to the Andal Invasions (6K BC) is also regarded as a rough time frame for the Age of Heroes. Of course this dating should be taken with a grain of salt with the Andals credited with having brought writing to Westeros.

Whoa, holdon. If the Grey King ruled for over a thousand years, that means humans had longer life spans at one point right? Or is this conjecture amongst Westorosi, like how Brandon the builder's efforts could possibly be attributed to successors who held the same name? Also, I wonder what drove the first men to migrate from Essos over the bridge of Dorne. From history we've seen most cultures migrated from place to place and even one continent to another for ecological purposes or things like food and so on. Like with the Andols it seemed to be religion kinda like Crusaders. But I don't believe there was anything wrong with the Essos continent earlier on in ancient dys before the Andols and Valyrians and it doesn't mention the first Men having anything similar to a manifest destiny maybe it was food?

One slightly weird thing is the logic in that the First Men who reached Westeros via Dorne and settled in the North, actually continued all the way to the North. It is far less hospitable than the rest of the continent and having to pass the fertile Reach, parts of the rich Westerlands and Riverlands, you'd think the first migrating peoples wouldn't feel incentive to continue so far as to come into a very cold climate.

I've wondered if the series will end with Bran Stark being reborn as Bran the Builder, and then reborn as every Bran therafter. This could explain several statements made by the 3 Eyed Raven while Bran was under his tutalidge.

Hey! What do you think about this theory? The lands of always Winter (North of Westros) and the grey waste (East of Essos) are connected. Which means that the army of the dead may overcome the entire know world. Or do you think there are more civilisations eastern of the known world?
I believe in that theory, that the east and west are connected through the North, it explains how to White Walks invaded Yi Ti and the East during the Long Night.

I don't understand how the pact happens but then 2000 years pass before the long night.. I always thought the pact was during the long night and that was when the children taught men how to fight the white walkers
According to the known timeline, the Long Night was 2000 years later. However that is based on what the people of Westeros believe from stories and rough estimates, the actual dates of these events are not known and there are theories that these events were closer together than we understand.

This is very confusing.... I thought this was after the andals invasion with exception of Northern houses. Cus like why would andals keep the same houses from the first men?
In some cases the Andals married into First Men Houses, in the North, they defeated the Andals and were never conquered. But the Andal invasion was many years later, I have a timeline video you can watch if you would like more info.

Game of Thrones is an example of history not translating very well in Fantasy.

There is a theory that what really happened was that Lann married one of Lord Casterly's daughters, and with no other heirs Lann inherited Casterly Rock and so that's why House Lannister seemed to take over the Westerlands over night, and House Casterly completely disappeared.
Also Lann keep the name Casterly on the castle
