    The story from what I was able to find out is that this was a family home/ horse farm, the husband passed away in the early 90s at an older age and then about 5 years later the wife passed away as well, sadly the house had already started to decay with the elder lady unable to maintain and do the repairs needed, then the family came in and took any valuables and now the land is up for sale and will most likely be bulldozed and the land sold for lots sadly. Thanks for watching ! Hope you like and subscribe!(:

    I bought a camper at a campground when my Daughter was 2....it was a 1971 Nomad..after I bought it I found a few things from the original owner...he bought it when his kids were small..had many fun filled summers...his kids grew up..probably got married and he passed away...I remember standing there in the camper looking at my 2 year old Daughter and Wife and telling her to cherish this moment..cuz soon we will be 20 years older...that was 1997...now I'm 53..battling cancer...my Daughter married with two Children....I'm in shock that 21 years went by so fast....still feel and see my 36 year old self standing in that camper....I actually still own it...like a time capsule it still has my Daughter's toys in it and her little muddy boots...God I don't understand time??....

      Jeff Polaras - I’m in about the same place you are my friend, don’t let it drag ya down. It is odd how time seem to speed up as it passes. I will say that making someone else happy, making someone smile, will make you smile and that seems to slow it down for a few seconds.memories can be bitter-sweet, most of the best ones are, but in the end that’s our pay off. I have no way of knowing if you are a spiritual person but no matter what religion you may be, a belief that there IS something after this life can be a great comfort. Since I was a child, I enjoyed the company of “elderly” people, now I’m almost there myself. Spend as much time as you can with grandkids and young people, make them smile, when it is their turn they will remember you. I think memories can kinda keep people alive even after they’ve passed. Good luck to you with your medical issues and know you are not alone.

    I can’t help but look around at my own house and wonder what the contents of my home say about the life’s lived in these walls. If years and years from now someone opened the door to the old and dated relics that used to be my life.... my treasures, and time had marched so far ahead that everything had by then been changed and memories forgotten - does the life we had just get lost in the dust?

    Assuming the family came back and took what was valuable, well pictures and there are a lot of em, are more valuable than most because those are memories you can't get back. The family, wouldn't it be them who are in the pictures, wouldn't they want those?😳😔

      Here's my insight on family photos. Parents take the photos for their own memories, not for the kids memories. I mean, why would I want to see photos of my parents vacations??? Photos with people I have no clue who they are, and really don't care? Or see photos of myself as a little kid?
      Maybe save a photo or 2 of some event that was significant in my young life, and a couple of my folks, but really, we are only interested mostly in photos of our own kids.
      My mother has boxes of photos. And I can say when she passes away most likely they will go in a burn pile. I will go thru and save a few, but 99% will go to ashes.

      You don't always know what goes on behind closed doors with families. It might have been a situation where the family really didn't want those memories. Perhaps they were painful, the owners of the house being people they wanted to forget completely. It happens. They took what they wanted and left the rest. Perhaps for good reasons we will never know or understand.

      When my mom died and I moved my dad to Florida, he had no interest into lugging around heavy boxes of photos. There is a company you can send them to put on usb. I hVent done it yet but may soon as a gift for him.

    • @DoubleDogDare54
      @DoubleDogDare54 6 років тому

      Check all the photos first and make sure they are all ones your dad wants to keep. Years ago my aunt and uncle took a box of old home movies to a company that put them on tapes you could insert in a VCR and play back on your TV. Nobody has seen them for many years and didn't have a clue all of what was on them.
      When they came back the family got together to watch the movies, complete with soda and popcorn, and it all went great until a segment came up of my grandfather, uncles and older male cousins on a hunting trip to Canada, drunk as skunks, shooting empty whisky bottles off fence posts with their deer rifles.
      That didn't go down well with my grandmother, who hated booze and boozing.
      Suddenly everyone remembered they needed to go home and reorganize their sock drawer and the evening wrapped up earlier than originally planned.

    for the life me i have never understood why people leave photos behind let alone personal belongings that may have some family value. one photo had barney in it, barney was popular in the 90s. majority of the photos were taken in the 80s just by looking at the clothing and background(i have tons of childhood photos that have that weird yellowish color background(its like the light to the camera was bad). the toaster was red, which coloring toasters didnt come popluar til the 70s-now.(guessing that one was 90 style). and the diapers in closet are for seniors. so now im getting to wonder if it was senior resident and had no family or had family who didnt give a shit about them. the van in barn is a 90s caravan(my parents had one in the mid 2000s). i hope you wore a gas mask with all that peeling paint. nice find, so sad though no one cares to go and fix that place up and get the antiques out. RIP elvis memorabilia

      I'm guessing the elderly residents became too sick to care. In and out of the hospital and nursing homes. (I saw this with my parents and also in-laws.) You get to the point where your home, belongings, photos, keepsakes, etc. no longer matter. You are just too sick and frail to care and certainly aren't going to clean the place up. The children and grandchildren live out of state or overseas and don't want it either. This is just my theory having seen it firsthand.

      Courtney B Like maybe a older person lived here a passed away. Noone came to clean the home out. Without knowing the history of the home and why it was abandoned you can't know why it was left behind. Going to do history on it. I am a Maryland. The name on the door sounds familiar.

      Well folks it goes like this___You strive ---succeed somewhat get your dream to some sort of reality---have kid/kids ---they grow, college -meet friends/parteners whatever make their own dream --city --far away maybe . YOU GET OLD!!! they visit but your dream is not theirs, they have kids/distractions ---you don't let go... you hang on===& on.... health goes ..stroke...alcohol? friends drop off. The kids are far away focussed on their lives. your income lowers ...one dies... the other holds on in the home of memories...fades...fails ..departs.. The kids come salvage a bit of stuff...the neibourhood land is valuable.. the house not maintained is not viable the kids (adults...maybe 50+ ) cannot hold it ....sell ...SO IT GOES.... Plan folks this will happen to YOU If you do not plan & take steps this is how it goes!!!!!!

      Linda Mesa first I'm happy to see I'm not the only one who loves abandoned house videos. I have been hooked on them for about a year give our take. This is a mistory of why they left photos because they looked young. About 70 to 80 percent are easy because they were older people who probably died. Not all families are close and some don't care about the pictures. You ever see that video from Canada were everything was left behind because the hole family died in a car accident ? Everything was out like they might walk in the door anytime it was sad. They had two different people who filmed the house one video was a lot better than the other because one of them the things were more untouched and looked more natural.

    My parents passed away almost 20 yrs ago. All of their belongings wound up in my brother's weather beaten barn, he passed in 2002. I got a call from one of my brothers, Executor of the Estate and said to come down and take what you want. The same call went to another brother & sister. By the time I got there to look around, it looked like the place had been ransacked. My other brother and one sister took almost everything... All I could see was my Mom's sewing basket and their 50th Anniversary Guest Book, the book wide open laying on the floor. I gratefully took them home. Just a couple of months ago my niece got in touch with me and said she was selling the place and there was some "religious stuff" that if someone didn't take she was donating it! I told her I'd be there to get it, she told me she's always busy with work and she'd drop it off at my house sometime soon. Six months later I drove there, she wasn't home but was upset I went "unannounced" (her niece was there and didn't know me. Then I got a call to go down there on a Saturday morning, the "things will be on the porch in a box". I couldn't get there until noon as it turned out. It wound up raining. When I got there the box was in the middle of her driveway, wide open and soaking wet. A large print of The Sacred Heart (frame missing) was soaked. It had a few statues in it, one of them actually belonged to my Grandmother that passed away in 1971. My daughter helped me get the box, when she picked it up the bottom of the box was so wet it ripped open! So, that tells you the difference in people and how they treat other's belongings. I guess what they say is true, "One person's junk is another's Treasure" I don't think the picture can be repaired, so I've ordered a large frame for it, I'm praying it will be the right size.

    TNT, Gueensryche, Bullet, The Michael Schenker Group - so awesome bands and are left to waste... :( I hope this amazing stuffs will not be destroyed if they decide to bulldozed this house because records of this bands are rare and it's hard to find these records today coz it's from the 80's (of course if these cassettes still works). And I'm curious why family don't took the family photos. It's strange for me.

    While watching this, I couldn't help but feel like there was a rather sad ending to the residents, who last lived in this home. From the family photos, it looks like your typical happy looking middle income family, in the past. After reading Kappy's comment, I wasn't too far off, from the truth. So sad that the family didn't do better by this property.

    Fab little video of a piece of history stuck in modern hectic times when you say they took the valuables out its a real shame they didn't take their family albums my photos are my most precious possession because they tell a story for years to come of my history and my children people seem to forget that now

  • @BFagan

    Nice work. The place is really personal, weird how people will leave such personal stuff behind. I'd love to contact the owner to buy that Caravan! lol, my folks had an '85 blue one (I was 10 years old), and it ran for over 300,000 miles, with no issues. They were decent, little vans, good on gas, too.

    • @eastcoastabandoned6657

      So sad to see it go to waste. It would be almost impossible to get it out of there though because the road to the barn is basically nonexistent at this point. You would have to cut down trees and stuff to make a path.

    • @BFagan
      @BFagan 7 років тому

      Well, that sucks, then. Funny, a few months ago; where I did my last explore, my friend had an '88 Mustang he sold for scrap. What an dummy, I told him! There was nothing wrong with the engine or the tranny...just needed new seats and a back window. I offered to give him $1500 for it, but he wanted to scrap it, and he got $280 for it. lol!

  • @RobertNES816

    Neat old Dodge Caravan haha. That's a late 80's or very early 90's with the V6. My Dad used to have an 86 with the older front end that used smaller headlights. Also that house looks like it was abandoned in the mid 90's or so. Stinks that the weather and squatters have gotten to it. But even the mess the squatters left behind looks to have been from years ago.

    There was a brown business folder near book shelf with a date of 1991 , so I imagine sometime not too long after that is when the abandonment took place, was nice to see there was some info of the history of the people that occupied this home Makes for a bit of satisfying closure , my thought is there is always mail in these types of places to give some idea of when last occupied

      Re penni: We live in a world where everybody is stingy with their wealth & nobody cares about anyone less fortunate. So why would they pay tax (& theyre high) for someone to live for free. Nobody gives free houses away very often. Look at who most of u elected for our president. Lets see what D.T leaves to anyone!
