The wood work in this house amazes me. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the work of a boat builder. It breaks my heart that anyone could tear this place down. What a cool house it is. Thank you very much for documenting it and sharing it with us.
Likely too much water damage in the ceiling/walls and the floors. Floors/tile is cracking and sinking and pulling away from the walls. It's not safe. I just hope they at least salvage what can be reused.
I’m thinking it’s being ‘dozed because of foundation issues. Would explain the sloping floors. It might have been more cost-effective to just tear it down than try to fix the foundation.
New owners would have to repair the foundation and then update the decor of the house. That’s a huge house to remodel. Nobody’s interested in a project like that. Seems like a waste of resources tho, tearing it down. I feel bad for all the skilled tradesmen who put in a lot of work building all of what we just saw.

I live in wine country, near Napa, Ca. I enjoyed the tour of the Bob Ross house. My rating of the mansion, on a scale between one to ten, where ten is a home I like the best, my rating declines from a 9 to a 1. It breaks my heart to hear this home is going to be knocked down. It is the ultimate insult to the architect to think of all the time and money invested in a supposedly well designed home with beautiful landscaping destroyed. I ask what is wrong with the house if three owners abandoned the home? It would be a wonderful place to live, but there is something seriously wrong, when no one is telling us why owners suddenly left the property. Why do the new owners feel they have to demolish the whole house instead of make repairs? I hope that the paintings can be cut out of the walls and saved and all many special features removed and reused before the rebuild. Our landfills are over flowing. We all need to do our part to save the planet and not simply throw mansions away. What Bankz decribes as a "yellow" room, I would describe as haverst gold or a dry grass color, or "hay bail gold'". By the way, the hay bails might be good for seating and can be moved around and are biodegradable when no longer needed. The hay bails might have been stacked and used like an easel to hold canvases to paint on or lined up to display art in the summer, if an artist lived there. Adobe is made with straw and hay bail houses make interesting structures. There was one hay bail in the garage. Maybe the owners had a pony or some other hay eating animal. The huge mystery room was described as a recreation room or game room. Artists need large spaces to paint big canvases or make sculptures or create large art of any kind. Artists need large rooms to store art before their art is displayed . As I understand, Bob Ross' paintings are in many boxes in storage. Bob Ross painted one painting on his 1/2 hour (27 minutes) show. Ross painted three paintings of one subject, two for practice and one for the final half hour television demonstration. Thousands of paintings were painted during Bob Ross' life and put away for safe keeping. For some reason the paintings were not sold. Artists need space to store canvasrs, finished and unfinished. Artists need space for frames and a variety of art supplies. When Bob Ross was planning to build a home, he more than likely, would be designing a home with art studio space and an area to store all his art. As I understand, after Bob Ross passed away, there was a huge court battle between the sponsors of the TV art show and Bob's family about who would get Bob Ross' paintings. I don't know how the argument was settled.
So interesting that the legend Bob Ross actually bought that house but sadly didnt get to live there. Its a beautiful place. Thankyou for showing us before its gone forever. I always wish i had the money to restore one of these fabulous houses. Maybe one day. We can dream. Watching from Blackpool UK 😊
