Uncle Sham Butterbean was more of a side show he never beat anyone good in there prime . Now Benny Leonard HOF material is worth the time and (mental energy) to show the world the true art of boxing.
YES , he was very good. Boxing in those guys was beyond brutal as you would have to fight sometimes a few times in a few months and the rounds were longer
@@brucemedley635 that's a tough fight . I reckon any one of them could beat the other on any given day and all three dominated their era . Duran at lightweight was a bit inexperienced had trouble with boxer's but he was relentless and could kill you with either hand . Chavez was more technical sound ( cutting the ring off / more efficient ) . I DON'T really KNOW if he could've beat them , but he would've been able to compete with them in their era . It's a toss up all three men in their own unique way could take someone apart .
@Cj yep , that ran through my mind when I replied to Mr Bruce . Arcel said ( the Getto Wizard had the most mental energy in the ring ). Personally I tend to lean with the natural boxer over aggressive inside fighter . But with theses 3 legendary fighters the debate on who's the best is endless .
My Uncle Benny-- that long left and that right hammer. But also a gentleman, a teacher, a Lovely Man. They don't make them like Benny and Sugar Ray very often. Steve Joseph
Tremendous footwork. A master of the counterpunch. Always in the centre of the ring away from the ropes. The General of the rings. An all time Top 5 Pound for Pound, period. Fantastic!
Benny Leonard was the greatest lightweight of all time . I loved his elusive style of boxing . Great puncher with brilliant defence boxing in the most competitive era of all time .Enough said !
@@surveying482ah he would easily beat the Powder Puff Puncher Pernell Whitaker!!! But thanks for the Joke you Clueless Casual! Besides Pernell Whitaker was a Known Drug Addict! Pernell loses to Benny Leonard with as Easy Decision Win or by Stoppage!
Hollywood must do a movie either about Benny Leonard's boxing career or about a story on a Jewish boxing champs journey through boxing's golden age in America!

@@samyoung9365 if he could hit Pep. Before his plane crash, Pep was beating guys 5'11 tall (Sandy Saddler). Pep once won a round without landing a punch.
Joe and Teddy brought me here.... I give Benny much props considering his nose is similar shitty design like mine... lots of long protruding cartilage.. with average nostril girth... which makes you a 1/3 inch closer to jabs and getting clipped by hooks.... which also busts your nostrils to nothing which in Benny days.. means he was forced to be a mouth breather most likely... BTW.. in South Asia, there is no such thing as Afrin or Nasal Strips, or nasal blockage... I've been living in Thailand for couple years now and everyone laughs in wonder whenever they see me with a nasal strip on when I sleep..... Forgot why I came here... ? oh yeah.. Teddy Roach and Seth sent me here.. god night!
Some guys get really overhyped by the boxing media and historians and Benny Leonard is one of them. I even saw somebody hear say he could've beat Duran if he fought, lol Duran eats him alive.
Benny Leonard dominated what's considered the dopest lightweight era of all time, I use to think Benny wasn't shit but Gus Damato and Ray Arcel (widely considered 2 of the greatest trainers all time) both saw him fight in his prime and both swore he was one of the greatest fighters they ever saw throughout their lifetimes, Duran and Tysons teachers who molded them into multi dimensional fighters both swore by Benny Leonard that cant be ignored
One of the best boxers of all time!
haNZAgod name of soundtrack? sounds like boogie belgique
Boogie Belgique - Back To Nowhere
haNZAgod thank you and another great vid

If not the best him pep Robinson hard one
Benny had such an underrated jab, he could be current champions with just his left hand
Benny Leonard could of fought in any era ! the range , timing , instinct and getting an angle . could go on but one of the best.
YES , he was very good. Boxing in those guys was beyond brutal as you would have to fight sometimes a few times in a few months and the rounds were longer

He is regarded as the best lightweight of all time by many boxing enthusiast and historians
The man had legs and a brain. True ATG...
Wonderful quality footage on such a vintage fighter. One of the more intelligent fighters in a more historical era.
one of the more intellegent fighter regardless of era

One of the Greatest Pound for Pound 🏆

Fantastic!
To me he’s 10th greatest pound 4 pound in history right under rocky marciano
this dude is underrated
He's really not underrated mate, basically everyone considers him to be one of the greatest Lightweights of all time.
haNZAgod one of the greatest and one of the few guys at lightweight who I think has a realistic chance at beating Duran at lightweight.
Dante daniel Lane are you a boy or girl?
Nice video. Leonard was a very scientific boxer who knew his way around the ring.
One of the greatest if not the greatest Lightweights ever.Alongside Duran he was at the top of the list.
Joe Gans must be consideration also.
Id say loenard 1 duran 2 gans 3 and ike williams 4

That music is fantastic
Absolutely superb
Always the best music in your videos.
Back to Nowhere by Boogie Belgique
not enough tape on this guy, its a shame.
He looked more like a banker than a boxer..... anyone else think that.?
CYBOPOD he was actually a good investor but because of the great depression he lost a lot of his hard earned money.
Look again his eyes look nasty to me. A tough guy for sure.
He was a boxer lol. A boxer with brains lol
He's Jewish. I'm sure a lot of Jews were bankers back then. His looks kinda remind me of George Gershwin
Amazing
He moved better than most of these guys nowadays. So smooth in there. Wonder who would've won between him and Pep?
Well he was 10 pounds heavier than Willie Pep and a Much Harder Puncher than Willie Pep, Benny Leonard would Stop Willie Pep inside 12 Rounds!
@@samyoung9365 if he could hit Pep. Before his plane crash, Pep was beating guys 5'11 tall (Sandy Saddler). Pep once won a round without landing a punch.
Nah, not as polished as the guys now (of course) but he's definitely ahead of his time.
Amen 🙏
You should do a video on Jimmy McLarnin.
Already got one.
Do a Maxim Vlasov highlight. He seems to be one of the better obscure fighters in boxing.
lol imagine how shitty those gloves and shoes were back then
SkateAndReview imagine how much a pair is worth
At 0:35- Look at the size of the boxing ring. Almost as big as a basketball court.
Agreed 👍🏿.
The ghetto wizard way ahead of his time
Only the fights against Tendler and McLarnin exist on film, apparently.
Correct
His stance and hopping reminds me of Olympic Tae Kwon do
are those leather gloves?
Can you make a higlight about Lennox Lewis please ,he is the greatest heavyweight of all time in my opinion .

What a true legend Am Yisrael Chaiiii 🇮🇱
Leonard was Jewish btw...and modern Boxing movement was invented by a Sephardic Jew from Britain....Mendoza.
Sorry I’m a huge boxing fan but I just don’t see a great here, great for his time maybe but not in the top 10 best lightweights of all time
the footage is from his comeback when he was older. in his prime he was a great fighter
He's consensus #1 lightweight

SuperAttitudeera Duran won't get close to him, he would quit faster than against his namesake Ray leonard

@Al Marcel lol he beat de jesus, leonard, buchanan, barkley, pazienza and camacho at 40 and he was very close of beating hagler at middle.
@@colorado2455I think he was robbed of a draw in the Hagler fight, dominated the whole time except the last rounds (14, 15)
