Since I was a child, it always surprised me how different Charlie look out of the costume and the whole tramp make up (even more, finding out how attractive he actually was). Unbelievable. Thanks for sharing the footage at the beginning, never had seen it.
Fascinating. It's so cool to see Chaplin out of costume just being a regular guy - even though he was anything but regular. And then the little schtick with Leonard - who didn't do bad at all performing with one of the greatest entertainers of all time!
Apparently Chaplin was very shy. You can't tell from all his video's. What a lovely sweet handsome man he was. Great entertainer. He faked shy very well. ❤
Thanks again for this. I had a death in the family today. This is the only thing so far to make me smile. Thank you Charlie. And much love to who put this on UA-cam. Such a great way to remember a man that STILL teaches us so much. X
For those of you unfamiliar with Benny Leonard, he is ranked by many boxing historians as the greatest lightweight of all time. In his heyday, no other man his weight could match Leonard's ring skill. Many opponents literally could not lay a glove on him. He was that good.
Heard him called the greatest lightweight of all time by a lot of legends, started as a street fighter, became an actor too. Can't beleive there's never been a movie made about him.
Its soooo hard to see the Charlie Chaplin Character on him when he's out of his costume, danggggg he looks like a very old when he's into his character but when u get rid all of those makeup and moustache on him, he's hiding a very charming face
I watched the movie "Chaplin" for the first time some weeks ago. Although I felt Robert Downey Jr did a fine job dresses as The Little Tramp I was not convinced when he was out of costume. Since then I have been wondering who would make a good Chaplin in a movie today. Then, while watching this, I was reminded of someone. Then I saw him. Eddie Redmayne. Given a little makeup he would be ideal. images.jdmagicbox.com/events/A776191/A776191_gal_20180122155226.jpg
but there are recordings of his voice : See his films The Great Dictator 1940 , Monsieur Verdoux 1947, Limelight 1952, and A King in New York , for example.
No problem. I'm a huge fan and one day God willing I will visit his Museum in Switzerland. I have read every book about him. I have even had several conversations with Dan kamin.
"Charlie", spelled correctly, was not a Jew hater. He was anything but. He didn't make The Dictator for no reason. I searched for any evidence saying he was and never found any.
Charlie's half brother was Jewish or half Jewish. His beloved wife, Paulette Goddard, was half Jewish, too. Their hectic schedules and Charlie's workaholic habits ruined a loving marriage. A pity as they really did love each other.
Benny Leonard was actually a great boxer in his day. But for this scene, it's evident that Charlie taught Benny how to choreograph the boxing comedy act. Charlie taught Benny well here.
I'm obsessed with Charlie at the moment 💖
Me too.......
@@Oshiiiiiiiiiiii JJ Burnel 💕😆
Same
Every fight scene gag in history comes from this guy. Look at him running the show from the first frame. What a genius.
The greatest entertainer of all time.
Yo bro how are you.

Natalia S how was he attractive?he wasn't tall dark handsome.you just like him for a very long time.that's it.
@@timc9372 Oh come on, you know that not everyone has the same views as yours
@@xandrapena1831 I don't think he does.

He is so athletic and talented. Perfect timing too.
Thanks again for this. I had a death in the family today. This is the only thing so far to make me smile. Thank you Charlie.

Indeed. Part of the reason he is so underrated is because he was boxing before most of it could be filmed.
If they would quit trying to lay a glove on the man instead of hitting him with the glove while their fists are in it, that may help!
Fantastic to see both as relatively young men in their prime, great film quality as well.
Charlie was an avid boxing fan. He probably would've been an awesome lightweight boxer( being so quick/light on his feet)
Heard him called the greatest lightweight of all time by a lot of legends, started as a street fighter, became an actor too. Can't beleive there's never been a movie made about him.
Oh you are in for a surprise. Google "Chaplin" performed by Robert Downy Junior. 1990s
I am a huge fan and would love to see a modern day version of it

This footage looks remarkably clean considering it's over 100 years old.
Chaplin is adorable both in movie and reality.
Sydney like "ok, whatever he's gone" in the last part lol
Woww!! so handsome charlie....I love him..
Only show man..That's Charlie Chaplin......The Great.....

CC is so cute! 🥰🥰
Such a great talent
Charlie was hamming it up but it looks like he had some familiarity with the sport.
Young and so handsome🥰
I like his hairstyle.😂
Awesomeness!
And sadly, better than most of the fights we see today.
Какой был позитивный Чарли доброта сколько уважение было! Ээээх Чарли не хватает тебя в жизни сейчас...

Is it just me or does Charlie Chaplin look alot like eddie redmayne in this footage..!!
He does indeed.
OMG, I thought I was the only one who thought that!! LOL
Yes, it's his smile that looks similar to Eddie's, imo. 🤷🏻♀️
00:59 Modi of that Time😜😂😆
hilarious
Not even the great Marlon Brando could had done this extraordinary acting.
Bro Charlie’s brother stole 300 dollars from him🤣
Nasty throat chop at 2:44

He died approximately 59 years after this was filmed. What would he have said to that? Too bad there are no recordings of his voice.
but there are recordings of his voice : See his films The Great Dictator 1940 , Monsieur Verdoux 1947, Limelight 1952, and A King in New York , for example.
I'm referring to recordings during his youth.
ok sorry. Many of our page followers don't know much about Chaplin... !
No problem. I'm a huge fan and one day God willing I will visit his Museum in Switzerland. I have read every book about him. I have even had several conversations with Dan kamin.
Great Gents but unworthy cause
Ben should have smacked Charley for real.
Charley hated Jews.
"Charlie", spelled correctly, was not a Jew hater. He was anything but. He didn't make The Dictator for no reason. I searched for any evidence saying he was and never found any.
harry pot that is not correct.
You are a lying piece of shit
Real : on Wikipedia, Charlie was Agnostic 😘
