Thank you for another great video Anna! I bought a boatneck top a couple of weeks ago so of course your first tip was my favourite 😉! I wonder if you have any suggestions for sandals for women who choose not to show their toes? I have been searching online all morning today and eventually gave up because I could not find much that was not a full shoe or high-heel wedge - I try to avoid wedge shoes because they feel so heavy and clunky on my feet. Grateful for any tips on that. Thank you 🥰
Dark denim, blazers, silk camis and button downs, cashmere for winter, casual slacks and Briton stripe boatnecks... And no sneakers outside of the gym!
Anna is actually one of the funniest female influencers, and not because she is doing ridiculous things. She uses our human flaws to perpetuate change in a way that has us laughing at ourselves instead of disliking ourselves. It’s heartwarming! So when I say she is funny, I mean she utilizes the human experiences, which is hilariously imperfect, to perpetuate change. Anna says all the time how she had to learn a lot of what she is teaching, and had plenty of embarrassing moments herself. You know you’ve made it when you’re able to look back on those moments and laugh at yourself ❤️
I swear, Anna doesn’t get enough credit for her wit and humour! I don’t understand why there’s an idea that elegant ladies are boring or stiff. Anna is a queen 🥰
I would love to see a revived interest in feminine clothing and in elegance in general. I'm an older woman, and I missed out on so many years of confidence and having a better body image because I had notions that such clothing was always expensive, and that much of the etiquette was stiff and uncomfortable and 'just not me'. I know it isn't for everyone, but I got that boost in confidence and happiness as soon as I started making changes a few years ago. And Anna's advice really helps!
She explained it in one of her podcasts. Since she extended her team, she has more time to actually do what she wants to with videos as she has more time and less worries. 🙂
I'm still in love with the fact that you preach sustainable fashion. Not from the point of view of saving the planet, but from the point of view of using natural fibers because they look and feel better. And from the point of view of purchasing your wardrobe is an investment that will last you a lifetime. My mom has a cotton shirt that is older than I am and it still looks fantastic because of the quality of the cotton and the construction of the garment. If you don't have to repurchase your plastic shirts every year then in the end you are saving so much more money.
Unfortunately ZARA and Pretty Little Thing, which she mentions is far from sustainable. Hoping she'll be making a 'Empowering other women through our purchases' video!
I am a muslim hijabi women but I follow anna and her suggestions,I apply her opinions on my dressing and my dressing with hijab has improved a lot because of u anna, thanks a lot for ur efforts.
Im learning to sew my own garments. Tailors are expensive and well, I want to add only garments I want to wear into my wardrobe. It's a journey and I'm really enjoying it 😊
Good job girl! I'm in the same boat. :) I don't want to add to the slave labor but still look classy. Wanna share what you've made so far? I'd love to hear!
@@bpom527 couple of pants and tanktops for my son. They are not classy but cute as buttons. A couple of dresses (the second definitely better than the first) and a skirt. I've learned a lot from each thing I made.
@@cellinelisehenriksen3337 That's wonderful! I bet his clothes were adorable! Have you checked out the European children's styles? (I think it's European... lol) They are adorable! And so classy looking. Which is so cute to think of classy little tots. lol Did your skirt have a zipper in it? I think Ive only put in one zipper and should practice. lol
but whats even more important is getting one that fits right. 90% of women are wearing a bra with the band size far too big and cup size far too small. i am quite small in the chest department but i wear a DD cup. D cup does not equal big! And it is SO easy to figure out your own size bra. All you need is a soft measure tape. Measure your under bust (where your bra band is supposed to sit directly under the breasts) in a straight line around the torso. You might want to get a close friend or family member to help cause it can be difficult making sure the measuring tape isn't sitting higher or lower on your back than it should be. Pull the measure tape fairly tight. This measurement is your band size. My under bust measurement is 28 inches. Then measure the fullest part of the bust (generally the tape will lay on top of the nipples). The measuring tape needs to be in a straight line around the torso again to get a correct measurement. Mine measures 33 inches. Now subtract you band measurement from your bust measurement and count your cups. 33-28=5. I typically go with UK bra sizing because it is standard across all UK brands and is very easy to translate to any other brand. So, I need to count to the 5th cup. A,B,C,D,DD,E,F,FF,G,GG,H,HH,J,JJ,K,KK. Therefore I need a bra in the size 28DD. I could also get away with a 30D via sister sizing (if you increase 1 band size you go decrease 1 cup size and if you decrease band size by 1 you go up 1 cup size). But you never want to sister size more than once. So if your under bust measures 30 inches, you wear a 30 band and your bust measures 38 inches you wear a 30FF (which is a fairly average size) or you can wear a 32F if you run across a brand with a very tight band or just really love the bra. Or a 28G. Don't worry about where you are going to find bras in your new size (which is likely going to make you say "what no way my boobs are that big! before i find correct bra sizing i was wearing a 32 or 34A which fit me so badly) as you will most likely have to buy them online unless you have an independent bra boutique near you or you live in UK or poland. Our mentor Ana here should most likely be wearing about a size 28/30E/F. Most people would incorrectly claim she is a B or C cup.
@@Weissklangi i would highly just recommend going with inches. if you only have a centimeter measure tape, take the measurements in centimeters and then go onto google and just type in "cm to in". 1 inch is like 2.5 cm, but its just one thousand times easier to do the math with inches. i know in poland they take the measurements in centimeters and so they would measure the under bust and get 71 centimeters. but when following EU brands that have an old outdated version of bra sizing built into their bra sizes. so if you were to just go for a size 70 band it would be 2 band sizes too large. so again in poland they take this measurement and then subtract 10 cm and thats how they get their bra band size. 71 cm = 28 inches. a size 70 band is equal to a size 32 band so you subtract the 10 cm and get your actually band size, a 60 aka size 28. just much easier to do it in inches and convert to whatever bra brand you are going to buy from. once you do the math in inches you can buy from any brand. rib measurement is 28, bust measurement is 33, thats a 5 inch difference. so you would just buy a size 28 band and the 5th cup available from whatever brand. so in UK that would be a 28DD, but in FR that would be a 70E and EU would be a 60E. If you are just starting out in this journey I would stick to brands that follow UK standard sizing. Get your size down there and then branch oit because sometimes you need to go up or down a cup depending on brand and region. Band size will pretty much always stay the same, most the time when the band feels too tight its because the cup is too small. and easy way to check this is to turn the bra upside down and put it on so the cups are facing your belly button. does the band still feel tight? you should be able to slip the straps off of your shoulders and not have the band of your bra move at all. 90% of the support come from that band it!
@@bethanyday3471 What are your favorite bra brands to shop from? A good quality bra? I do know that most brands differ on sizing and fit. And sometimes It's easier to try it on it person so you know it fits well. But I don't have any nice places around me who sell quality lingerie.
@@usernameisunavailable8270 the top bra brands that i always see loved in the bra communities i am apart of; panache, cleo, ewa michalak, comexim (polish brand, will likely require an increase or 2 in cup size), freya, Katherine Hamilton, Harlow & Fox, fantasie, bravissimo. paramour & curvy kate can be good too. Kris Line and Gorsenia are 2 good polish brands, though it may be a bit harder to nail down size. Avocado is a great brand as well though their sizing is also a bit wacky. Elomi is great for the really big girls (though not ones with smaller bands). Skarlett Blue, Calvin Klein, Natori, and Aerie are great for smaller girls. The Little Bra Company is of course fantastic and there are few random brands on amazon that sell 28A-D cup bras that a surprisingly decent. Simon Perele, Chantelle, and Aubade are all really good if they have your size. French brands tend to be REALLY good quality and build but its harder to get the sizes needed. And my two honorable mentions are Claudette and Mimi Holliday, they are brands that don't really exist anymore but if you can find your size from their brand - worth it.
Thanks to Anna's videos I have been making a bigger effort with my clothing. Just wanted to share a win today with people who will understand. I attended an outdoor event today and I felt so confident in my appearance! My dress was an appropriate casual summer dress and I wore wedges and used a sling over shoulder handbag. It was perfect! There were a few others dressed well there but most were very casual denim and t-shirts. I was dressed nicely but not over the top for this event. I'm so proud of myself! Thank you for all the advice, Anna! I can honestly say that >almost< all eyes were on me because of you. It's the first I've ever felt so fantastic before. Thank you!
I have children. I’d love to see tips on looking elegant taking them to all their sporting events at dirty soccer fields and dusty baseball diamonds in the summer heat. Thanks for sharing Anna. Love your advice!🥰
Yes! I was just outdoors with my 1 yearold today. My dress was a tiny but short but in my opinion in still appropriate. Still I had to be careful about bending over to pick her up. Elegant mom style would be SO appreciated!
@@miramaxima1982 I agree! It wasn't the shortest dress out there but still something I was mindful of. It was an improvement from my usual dress but I wouldn't do it again. Taking it one step at a time!
Yesss !! Elegant mom style would be great. Something for those that are pressed for time and things that are practical (and machine washable) as well as looking classy
I think a nice long denim shirt with a tucked up button up shirt like she’s wearing here would look lovely. You could match the color to your kids’ sports teams as well.
Pro Tip: a lot of stores now carry clothes in a Linen/Rayon blend. It looks and wears like linen, but it's 1) less expensive, and 2) doesn't hold wrinkles as easily.
Tip: if a slow-spin or delicate wash cycle is used, linen won’t wrinkle as much. Take it out of the wash right away, it will be dripping, then give it some hand-shaping and hang-dry or toss it in a medium-setting dryer. I still iron it all, but this does make it easier.
I went home to my humid warm country one summer for a funeral -- forgot & took a lined linen outfit & a silk one. Naturally I didn't realize the sauna sweat fest I was in for until almost time to go. Needless to say, I had to borrow an outfit or two--(shops weren't open, no time). Lol
Years ago when I was just starting in my career I didn't have the means to buy the well made, perfectly cut kind of clothes you suggest. Then I found a great book on dressing well on a tight budget by using the resources offered by second hand shops. The quality, cut and simple elegance you advocate for is to be found sometimes in the resale shops for a fraction of the price. Perhaps a video on how to direct our economic means wisely when we are just starting could be very interesting for many of the ladies who watch you. Thank you Anna!
I grew up in Italy, i learn at a young age to love linen for summer! Thank you, Please share new outfits ideas for long haul, people are getting back to travel.
I would love it if you could create a video about how older women can still look elegant during the warm times of the year. Some older women, such as myself, no longer want to show our arms when they are no longer firm, even if the weather is warm. How can we leave our arms covered and still remain cool and stylish?
Yes! Even though I'm 5'2" with an inverted triangle (large natural breasts; small frame) the boat neck looks great on me I just don't do shorter sleeves with the boat neck.
I don’t like short sleeves either but other than losing the arm fat, not sure what else can be done. Maybe a 3/4 or 1/2 sleeve with some flutter to it?
3/4 sleeves are great. You can get them tight fitted or loose. I am young, but those sleeveless tops look horrible on me (body shape). I need at least a small over the shoulder sleeve. Wonder if you could get sleeves with slits? Some could look still affluent and elegant. Just hard to find the right ones. Simple is better.
I will forever appreciate you Anna. You've helped my family a lot, since the pandemic till now your advices and lessons are inspirational and helpful to us. As a inverted triangle, I always benefit from boat and sweetheart necklines. I get lots of compliments on my neck. Every single time. Don’t be afraid of showing those bones. Use different colors and patterns on the bottom to balance things and show off your most femenine side :)
@@edennis8578 It's because these shapes highlight the largest part of our bodies. But one can wear more relaxed and flowy bottoms; wide legged trousers, flowy skirts, A-line skirts...etc. Something that balances the look. Wearing the mentioned neckline shapes with skinny jeans for example is not very flattering on our body shapes^^
@@zinab2blessa I disagree. I think it's a gorgeous look. I always avoided that look until I learned to play with the rules and lines of my own body. Now I love it.
I'm an inverted triangle too. boat necks look great on me but the trick is to wear it with a patterned layered skirt or an A-line wrap patterned skirt. I tie the wrap skirt to the side too, so my hips look wider dn my shoulders. It's stunning and I always get compliments.
Anna could you give tips on elegant jewelry? I feel like we have shoes, nails, bags and clothes covered but I'd like to see affordable jewelry in the elegant category.
I'm an inverted triangle and I find boat necks look really good on me. Especially darker colors conceal the tip of the shoulders, making them appear smaller.
It's so nice to see the block heel sandal . It makes walking on lawns Much easier . Wedding season but a lot of them are outdoors so it's nice that these pretty shoes will work. Tiptoeing around on lawns because you're afraid you're gonna sink isn't the most elegant gate
I can't believe that I finally check all the boxes with Anna lol. I have been upgrading my closet for the past years just following my own style and my fashion instinct and I kinda nailed it? I feel so proud of myself lmao.
Yes! You are showing your true personality in your videos! I couldn’t identify with your videos a few years ago. You’ve really come into your own, great work!
Thank you for letting me know boatnecks are not for inverted triangles. I feel that many people who give fashion advice don’t consider how the pieces look for certain body types.
I’m so grateful to you Anna. Things I used to wear trying to look classy, was the exact opposite. Since following you and taking your advice, I’ve definitely attracted a better grade of people. The confidence I’ve had elevating my look is so rewarding. It truly is amazing how people treat you when you’re well put together. Huge difference. Thank for all your advice. 😊
Anna! You teach us how to look expensive... How about how to smell expensive? 👃💙💚💙💚 I would like to know about your favorite perfumes and tips smell clean and fresh all the time. Hugs, Anna!
Ana, you could talk about anything - I would watch! Listening to your content is like a therapy - your self esteem, sense of humor and sincerity is really inspiring to be at least a little bit more elegant, more feminine. Live better and become better. I was never interested in elegance, etiquette, fashion or afluent life style. I could call myself an artsy villager :D , who doesn't care about outfits that much. But with your content I discovered the importance of it all and feel so much better about myself than before! So, thank you! Very very much :).
Anna's presence has improved so much! You look so much more comfortable and your personality is coming through! Maybe you could even act in the future! All my love 💓
Hello Anna, Ladies (I noticed some men in the comments, too). I am new to this channel, and love it. I considered myself classy casual. Your channel helps me to see where i can take things higher, not just in wardrobe, in character, as well. The comments also call things to attention where improvement is needed. I appreciate you, Anna, and those who offer their feedback in the comment section.
Agree 100% with the fabrics. My skin HATES polyester. Switching to more natural materials was one of the best things I have done for my very sensitive skin
Your first example is not a Boatneck shoulder Iine. A traditional boatneck is not off the shoulder. It is Iike a straight piece of material that goes straight from shoulder to shoulder front and back covering the coIIar bones. It's Iike a sIit for the head.
I just discovered your channel, and I am loving your tips! I am 50 years old-and agree 100% with the current young ladies growing up not really knowing how to dress "elegantly" and appropriately for young ladies. I am learning many things for myself as well-and I love your sense of humor!
I try to follow your tips even tho I wear a Hijab so i originally dont show much skin or hair but I do my best to keep it elegant and I have to say I love your videos and you are an inspiration anna
Hijab styles are elegant by default to me! I see so many beautiful hijabis in my city, in long flowing cream and beige clothes and beautiful fabrics, they look like royalty to me 💫
Literally one of the best dressed colleagues I ever met was covered hair to ankles. But she did have a lot of pieces which she knew how to style in a sublime way.
Dear Anna, you have helped me a ton with your wonderful fashion advice! I am here since the channel launched and I now have a solid classic wardrobe with pieces that can be matched with each other, I now know my style, I know my colors and I know what I like and what suits me. I will be forever grateful for these videos. Much love from Hungary 💙
I don’t like showing my arms and I stay covered from the sun even though I wear sunscreen. Any recommendations for styles with long or mid length sleeves during summer?
Long sleeved shirts, blouses and turtlenecks made of cotton, silk or linen with a shorter pant or skirt is my go to (I also don't like showing my arms) Try to avoid colours that will show sweat stains (e. g. grey) or make a small patch test with water to see how much it shows. You can also get sleeveless midi dresses and put a thin button up shirt like a jacket over it to cover your arms
I personally love bishop sleeves, I think they look very sophisticated. They're quite common with wrap dresses I've found, another classy summer style. Otherwise I find fitted 3/4 length sleeves (or full length sleeves folded back to the elbow) to be flattering. But with more coverage, natural fibres (especially linen) is a must for me in summer.
I love this video! Not only because of the great content you put out but you seem so energetic and naturally funny. It’s the perfect mix of elegance and entertainment. Feels like I’m talking to a friend. 💕✨
Anna, I truly love your videos and I love the little community you created here! Everyone is so supportive in the comment section. It makes me so happy! ❤
I love linen, and have lots of garments made in it because we have very long, hot summers where I live. Yes, it wrinkles easily, a blend of linen and viscose might be better for those who refuse to iron, but I find ironing rather relaxing, the trick is to do it when it’s cool, have a fan, and dress lightly. I give my linens my best ironing, then just relax and enjoy wearing them!
It's gonna be over 115° F in AZ this week... so this is ultra timely while transitioning wardrobes. I'm gonna envision Anna would give the same tips as of vacationing in Dubai.
I am an inverted triangle and I have one boat neck blouse that I wear and I actually love it because it is a peplum blouse! The volume below actually gives balance to the silhouette 😊
Oh my goodness woah! How cool! I had just seen your interview with The Roommates a while back, and I wanted to say thank you for representing the hidden women in society that actually want and love men. I liked how you empathized with men’s perspective, but also gave a refreshing reality check, in the sense that not all women utilize the “hot girl summer,” mindset.
Anna, you have improved so much! Your videos have valuable content but at the same time are so funny. I love to see more of your humor and personality. You are edutaining us! Love it!
Being pregnant and not buying any new clothes that isn’t for the bump has made me really step back to look at my wardrobe and reconsider a lot of items that I have. Basically did a purge. Also, will be even more mindful for future purchases post-baby.
It's always a delight to watch the channel and learn from Anna Bey. So much good advice on this channel. I tried the linen tops she suggested and as she said, I feel and look elegant and cool. Anna Bey is a phenomenal teacher!
Amazing video as always Anna! I'll be going to university in September and I was wondering if you could maybe do a video on elegant outfits suitable for studying and campus life in general. Keep up the great work 💖
Summer makes you guys lazy? 😂😂😂😂 Waaaw for me it’s the opposite, If is 19degrees I don’t want to leaaaaave my bed! If I lived in a cold country I would be so lazy for life hahahah
Whenever I'm shopping, now I always ask myself "Is this something Anna would wear?" It has indeed changed the way I shop... my wardrobe is a work in progress now😁
It isn't always, it depends on the natural resting angle of your foot. You can Google it. Some people actually do better in a mid or low heel than flats
I agree. Linen requires a lot of upkeep. It’s just too much since I live in south Florida where you can’t just stock up on linen, as it’s VERY expensive because ideally you’d have to wear different pieces every single day because of the extreme humidity and heat. My budget doesn’t allow such a pricey wardrobe, nor do most people where I live. Sadly everyone here takes the easy and quick way out because it’s just easier. Floridians dress in gym clothes almost all year.😝
I love summer day events and early evening events! Attending events during that time scheduele makes me feel so free and relaxed and stresless, idk why:))
Firstly, I would like to say sorry for my English but I am from Poland so I am not native:) Few days ago I found your channel and I just fell in love. This is exactly what I have been looking for. So your channel is perfect for me and I can't wait your new films. I suscribed and I wait for more. And in one of your video I heard that women should pay attention to her development and education. So now I am motivated to improve my English and your films really help me in that. Greetings from Poland and all the jest for you all.

You look so lovely lately Anna! I was just watching your summer videos from 2019, you've elevated your look so much since then, you truly practice what you preach!
When she put the nipple covers in her eyes!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Anna seemed like she was really having fun with this video and I love that. Anna, how about a video on how to dress our husbands?
Hi Anna, To answer your question why so many women dress badly in summer, it's because they haven't been taught by their mothers how to dress for summer probably because they grew up in a cold climate country ie England (like me). From a young age my mother always taught me how to dress properly for summer by wearing silk tops and linen trousers and maxi dresses because she lived in the hottest part of India and was used to dressing for 50 C degree heat. Covering your skin is also very important when it is hot (something that many people don't know if they are from a cold country) It keeps you cooler to cover your arms, shoulders and legs with cotton, linen and silk fabrics. Also shorts are a no no for women (unless you are on the beach or they are longer knee length and not denim). In many hot countries grown up women don't wear shorts.
I love seeing how ladies from India dress for summer! I asked a few where I can find the beautiful outfits they wear. They tell me but I can never find the places.
@@danicegewiss862 Its worth visiting South Asian communities in your country which have stores that sell these types of clothing. Alternatively search online.

I'm still in love with the fact that you preach sustainable fashion. Not from the point of view of saving the planet, but from the point of view of using natural fibers because they look and feel better. If you don't have to repurchase your plastic shirts every year then in the end you are saving so much more money.

I am actually grateful you spoke about the bra, it is a life saver
but whats even more important is getting one that fits right.
@@bethanyday3471 How does it work with centimeter?
Thank you!
That sounds fantastic. Happy for you!

Pro Tip: a lot of stores now carry clothes in a Linen/Rayon blend. It looks and wears like linen, but it's 1) less expensive, and 2) doesn't hold wrinkles as easily.
Hey! I would love examples if you have any.. I have such a hard time finding quality clothing at regular retail stores!
THANK YOU LIFE SAVER!
Sounds nice! Sounds comfy too, rayon tends to be soft and cooling.
Nicole Kennedy Zara have linen too
Tip: if a slow-spin or delicate wash cycle is used, linen won’t wrinkle as much. Take it out of the wash right away, it will be dripping, then give it some hand-shaping and hang-dry or toss it in a medium-setting dryer. I still iron it all, but this does make it easier.
Genius tip ❣️
Great tip! I would add to that by taking it out of the washer right away, line up the hems and seams, shake it, smooth it and hang it right away.
🙏👍
I only buy natural fabrics for summer... Cotton, linen, silk. There's nothing worse than sweating in polyester, rayon, Lycra, etc.
Lol
+ polyester can start to smell so bad 💀

Years ago when I was just starting in my career I didn't have the means to buy the well made, perfectly cut kind of clothes you suggest. Then I found a great book on dressing well on a tight budget by using the resources offered by second hand shops. The quality, cut and simple elegance you advocate for is to be found sometimes in the resale shops for a fraction of the price. Perhaps a video on how to direct our economic means wisely when we are just starting could be very interesting for many of the ladies who watch you. Thank you Anna!

YES, I would love to see a lot of examples that cover arms and legs for women over 60, like myself, for the HOT Arizona triple digit temperature.
I think with linen, why it's okay for it to be wrinkles, it's because it's expected to wrinkle💯

I don’t like showing my arms and I stay covered from the sun even though I wear sunscreen. Any recommendations for styles with long or mid length sleeves during summer?
Long sleeved shirts, blouses and turtlenecks made of cotton, silk or linen with a shorter pant or skirt is my go to (I also don't like showing my arms)
Try to avoid colours that will show sweat stains (e. g. grey) or make a small patch test with water to see how much it shows.
Sheer or lacy sleeves let your skin breathe

The trouble I have with Linen is some pieces wrinkle so easily - especially back of the clothes.

I love your videos Anna, you have helped me on so many ways. I came from a family of brothers and my mother was not around when O was a younger. On the past 2 years I've learnt so much from you, in terms of etiquette, style and mental wellbeing. I'm very grateful for your help and I was never taught these things when I was younger
Strapless WonderBra is really a game changer in the summer- love love love it!!!! 😍

Can you do a video on how to distinguish between cheap polyester, and decent polyester? I feel like I always have trouble figuring out what makes one piece of polyester clothing better than another.
Yes please. I need this too!
Just avoid it altogether if you can. No matter the quality, at the end of the day it’s just a piece of plastic.
