- Thank you for visiting my usual weekday video.
It was sunny in the morning but started raining in the afternoon. Fortunately, I could paint Engawa (a small porch by the tatami room) before started raining. I need to paint the outdoor dining...fences...so on, but I just painted there on that day. I'm so happy it looks clean and neat.
For lunch my son and I had tomato sauce meatball pasta with Italian parsley (from my little yard).
My parsley grows so fast!

Your vlogs are so much like a friendly conversation. I am glad your in-laws are kind. That is not always the case. I love hearing about your culture. How sad that there are so many students who cannot go to school in Japan. I hope they are able to find friends in other ways. What did I eat today? This morning I had rice, broccoli, and melted cheese mixed together. That's not a normal breakfast choice for here but my doctor thinks gluten from wheat might be making me sick so I am trying to cut down on wheat products to see. I had chicken soup over rice for lunch/dinner. Fortunately, I have always loved rice and eat it often so it has not been hard to take out wheat. I think I will have strawberry frozen yogurt for dinner/evening snack. In the summer, we eat ice cream almost every day. What am I thinking about these days? I have been enjoying summer. It's so beautiful here but it will pass quickly so I feel like I must consciously enjoy every moment.

There are some private schools for the kids who don't go to school in the big cities, so I think they can find friends there. But kids in the countryside, they almost have no places to go and they (also their parents) have hard time. I am frustrated because I can only listen to them.
The strawberry frozen yogurt sounds really nice! I don't see frozen yogurt around my place, so I'm envy you.

As for what you say about children who don't want to go to school and adults who quit their jobs, In my view far away, I think that Japan may be a very demanding country and that you have to compete a lot for everything, and this is frustating for someone.
Here, in Spain, there are many young people who neither study nor work, they are called "ninis" and there are adults who prefer to live on social benefits before looking for a job. This is for a long discussion, don't you think?
About my last weekend, my husband and I went to Madrid city (it is 50 minutes by car from our house, we live on the outskirts) we went to the book fair that takes place in the Retiro park (which is like central park but smaller)
In this park once a year this fair is organized, booksellers and publishers set up booths and you can buy books of all kinds and meet writers (better known and less known) and they can sign their books. The fact is that there were so many people that we couldn't see anything, I think that after the pandemic people are more alive.

In the Retiro Park, which is public and very touristy, there are many things to see, but in my opinion there are two very peculiar places to see, one of them is a glass palace, all transparent, where exhibitions are held and if you go inside it is very special.

There is also a statue dedicated to the devil,( yes the devil..) it is placed just at 666 meters above sea level (in Christian culture the number 666 is a number linked to the devil), the devil is an angel that was good but became bad, that's why the statue is called the fallen angel.

On Sunday I made a dessert that we love, it's simple, with few ingredients (my husband's eyes shine when he sees it 😋) it's “arroz con leche” rice pudding, maybe you know it, this is how it looks like.

About ninis... wow, we don't have kind of people right now, but definitely we need such a system to protect people who don't work in the future. Some old parents work (or using their saving money) for their kids (also they are getting old) because their kids can't to go to work... But we need to think, right?
